As I searched Apple Maps for a nearby spot to get an inspection, Alan's place felt right energetically. I was in and out under 20 minutes. Alan is very handsome and helpful, so that helps. read more

Quick in and out. Friendly folks. Easy in and out from RR 620. Third year I've used them.

It NEVER fails......when I want to get my car inspected, they are NEVER OPEN and the hours do not reflect!!!! Extremely frustrating!!!!!!!!

Excellent and efficient service. Very considerate of your time and your auto. Nothing in the area compares.

Service times are questionable. Costs are questionable. Convenience to house and retirement make this business acceptable.

Really happy with the quick and professional service. The signs are very clear on where to wait in line which I clearly missed, but they were understanding. I paid about 7 dollars for the inspection and passed my vehicle within 10 minutes. Highly recommend! read more

They say they open at 8am. It's 8:35am on 10/3/2024 as I'm writing this review. No one is here or answering. I've got a very busy schedule and now this trip has been an inconvenience and disappointment to my day. Very unfortunate. Don't go here if you expect them to be on time. read more

Alan's Vehicle Inspections - They say they open at 8am. It's 8:30am on 10/3/2024 and no one is here or answering. Been waiting 30mins. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Austin, Texas

Been going here for many years. With the change in the law recently, the price for the inspection for Travis County is supposed to be $11.50. Today, I got my car inspected and Alan said he mis-typed the rate on my Inspection Report as $11.50 and that I owed $18.50. I looked confused and even asked about the new law. He just said it's still changing and I owed $18.50. Since they charge a $0.75 fee for credit card charges, I handed him a $20. He was hesitant to give my full change. I called DPS to confirm the rate was supposed to be $11.50. Tried calling Alan's Vehicle Inspection but no one answers. HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS - They've lost a loyal customer. I will still be charged an extra $7.50 by the state when I get my registration sticker! read more

Fast, friendly, efficient, and cheaper than other places I've gone to. Don't pull into bays. There is a designated parking in front of the taco place. You wait there. read more

Love these guys. Fast! Efficient! No nonsense. Get you in and out! I bring all my cars here and aways come back.

Nice guys, but lately they are not open in the afternoon. I'm disappointed. They have been my go to guys for years, but I found an alternative. read more

Alan's provides an incredibly valuable service and the employees don't even take breaks so that you can get your car inspected. literally everyone here that gave a bad review did so because they got yelled at. They got yelled at because despite there being a line of cars they decided that they were going to be first and just drive up into the bay ignoring all the warning signs and direction signs being selfish and putting peoples lives in danger. If you don't appreciate their service or you can't read signs or you feel so self entitled that you need to be first and to heck with everyone else, go to jiffy lube. I hear their inspector comes in on tuesdays when it isn't raining.... have a blessed day. - someone that has dealt with with too many ungrateful rich self entitled oblivious to their surroundings people in lake Travis read more

I didn't know that Alan's had a location on 620. It's not much closer to me than the North Lamar location, but it is a prettier view. Friendly staff and no frills auto inspection. We always go to Alan's. There was also a taco truck tempting me the whole time. read more

Great service , honest people . Ben going to them for years. Shortest wait time in town.

They were fast, very polite, and efficient. Used them for a few years and have always done a great job.

I've been taking my vehicles there for years. It only takes a few minutes and then their done unless they've found something wrong lol! That's only happened once in 10 years tho. read more

The state price for inspection is $18.85, but they charge 24.95 which is illegal. Then they add a $5 tip which is ridiculous! And they are SO rude!! I'm reporting them to the BBB and to the State of Texas. I'll never go again! read more

This vehicle inspection station has the drill down pat. They are friendly and fast. The waiting area is outside under a shady tree, so be prepared for the weather. Highly recommend. read more

Pretty straight forward experience. I came, I saw, I got inspected. Well, my car did anyway. From the time I handed the man my car key to when he came back inside the oh-so-air conditioned office, only four and half minutes had passed. It was quick, painless, and even a titch pleasant as the gentleman who took care of my car smiled and made small talk. So far, my quickest and most pleasant inspection experience in Austin, only beef was that it came in right at thirty dollars(after the added dollar for ringing debit) which puts these guys as my most expensive inspection to date. read more

Don't waste your time or money here. I got my inspection done here and went to file online for my new tag there was no paper work to be found. I went back to the place to see what they could do and they were so rude and not helpful. The guy mentioned they have about 3-5 customers a day this happens to. Now I have to go to the city tax office or pay for another inspection. read more

They have a system for how they want you to park/wait but it is very poorly communicated and when most customers do the wrong thing, they yell at you. I've put up with it in the past but they were so rude today that I'm Done. read more

I have gone to Sticker Stop in the past, but routinely had an hour or more wait so when I drove by Alan's today and didn't see a line I decided to try them for my inspection this year. I will definitely return next year thanks to a fast, thorough & overall excellent experience. On top of being efficient, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and even had me laughing, which isn't the usual inspection experience. I'm glad I found Alan's and can cross vehicle inspection off my "to do" list! read more

I pulled up to his shop and an older bearded man walked out to me shaking his head at me smoking a cigarette. You could tell he was not happy. I was still sitting in my car and he says abruptly turn it around, back it up and park on the street, I gotta drive back and forth right here and I can't do it with you parked here. Not very friendly, so I just responded, I was just wanting to give you some business and I've never been here before. He said, well we'll park on the street is all I'm saying.. I back up and just drove to my friendly Texaco station. Rude old man. read more

Quick in and out --- 10 mins for 1 car --- 12 mins for the 2nd car. The tall dude isn't going to win any personality contests, but he gets his work done efficiently and gets you out. $7 for each car. Will go here again. Cheers! read more

I accidentally drove my vehicle into the wrong bay and both inspectors yelled at me to go away. These guys are extremely rude and arrogant. I would not recommend this place. read more

Female friendly and veteran friendly! I've got to say this has been the best experience I've had at an inspection establishment by far. I rolled up, they were prompt to acknowledge me, quick to do their inspection and very friendly. They noticed a Marine Corps sticker on the trunk of my car, asked me if I served (which I did) and thanked me for my service and waived the cost. That really means a lot to me. As a woman, I typically get asked if my husband served or get told to thank my husband for his service. I'm not even married. It was incredibly refreshing for them to ask if I had served instead of assuming it belonged to a male in my life. Overall, the guys were easy to speak to and I was in and out before I even had the chance to get comfortable. Top notch establishment! read more

Roll up, get inspected, you'll be out the door in 15 mins or less. I've been here multiple times and they're consistently quick. No frills, though they do have: plywood walls? check the entire collection of Sopranos on DVD? check a cat on a leash as a mascot? check What else could you ask for? read more

Fast, easy service. Thanks for such great treatment. In and out in just a few minutes. Visit with them, and they'll come to you for camper inspections! read more

These guys work fast! Showed up on a Saturday without calling ahead and was in and out in in 15 minutes.

So fast and convenient!!! I was able to get to the shop after work, and I was the only customer. The 2 gentlemen got me squared away quickly and w/o a hassle! I will be going back to Alan's for every inspection! read more

Super fast - took 5 minutes. Friendly people. under 20 bucks. Got my inspection done so I can move on with my day. That's all you can ask for. read more

Avoid the young kid who works there. He doesn't know the laws and is not friendly. He failed me for something I could have fixed around back of the shop in a couple of minutes with a pocketknife because he was in such a big hurry to get to the rich people waiting just behind me. Yes, sorry my car is old, but at least I deserve friendly service like the next guy. Look for the tall guy or the older skinnier guy. They are usually there, and are very straight up with you. Great guys. read more

Had my car inspected and the inspector was rude. Felt like I was bothering him by giving him my business. Printed out receipt which he left on my front seat but the printer was running super low on ink and you can't even read it. And then my car seat was all messed up. Waiting room is dirty. read more

Avoid at all cost. Didn't send the update to the state for the inspection and I had to go to the County Tax Office and spend 3 hours. Also didn't want to deal with it when I called them...they wouldn't even look in their system to see if it was updated. This was at the 620 location. read more

I have used the Lakeway location for several years and never had a problem. Today after the inspection was complete without a problem, I was unable to locate my insurance certificate. The inspector, Francisco Banda, swore he gave it back to me, but because of the Coronavirus I had not been within 20 ft of him throughout the process. The other inspector helped me look for it and it was eventually found on the passenger side of the car in the footwell. I made the comment that Banda did not give it back to me, when he became abusive and insolent. I will not go back and recommend others do not patronize this location. read more
