Dropped my car off for an oil change on my 2015 Audi A6 Prestige. I was quoted $159 with a coupon on their website. They said it would done be by the end of the day. I received a phone call and the service guy said it would be over $200. He said my car takes 8 quarts. The manual says 7.2 quarts. I told him I have never paid over $170 for an oil change from my regular shop. German Auto Center charged me $184. They added some charges other than tax. The coupon states up to 7 quarts. My oil gauge showed about a quart low not very close to full as it should have been. The shop did not reset my maintenance light. I wonder what else they might not have done. I used to bring my Mercedes into them and thought they were reliable. I will not stray from my Audi shop in Austin again- Brink Motorsports. read more

Called to make an appointment for a quick exhaust issue. I don't feel comfortable leaving my vehicle and they told me they had no option but to leave my vehicle all day with them. German Auto Center is a hidden gem. I've been bringing a BMW and a Porsche in for service and repairs for a number of years. I trust Chris implicitly as a service advisor. If work needs to be done, he'll tell you exactly why and what to expect down the road if it isn't done. If work doesn't need to be done, he won't recommend it, and if someone else recommended it, he'll tell you not to spend the money. That kind of integrity is worth its weight in gold and seems rarer all the time, especially when it comes to auto service. The work has always been done correctly, on time, and at a reasonable price given the brands they work on. Extremely disappointed, I called to get a quick estimate to get my car serviced and I was told it would be about $300 I made my appointment two weeks ahead, approximately. I was told to drop off my vehicle at a certain time which I did, and I was dropped off at domain. I figured it would be tops four hours. I was called to let me know that my service would now be another $200 for an air filter and some flush that I thought was included on the original estimate that I got apparently not. I called four hours in and I was told that my car would not be ready till five I arrive at 4 PM only to be told that my car has not even been touched. Have they told me this before I would not have spent the entire day making time at the freaking mall wasting my entire day unnecessarily shame on this place never again I'm sure I can get an over priced oil change somewhere else. read more

Brought my BMW in there with no appt and was told they couldn't look at it for two weeks. Ok fine but...they wanted to CHARGE ME $45/DAY STORAGE FEEE until they got to it! This place was a Godsend for me! I recently purchased my first BMW (used) and the very next day, the check engine light came on. Buying the car 'as is' has its downfalls, of course, especially with brands like BMW, but I didn't expect to have to pay for repairs already. I've gone to BMW of Austin before and knew they would be pricey so I started searching online and came across this shop. The person who answered, Adam, was very patient with me and explained the pricing for diagnosis and their availability. I loved the fact that they were able to get me in an hour later! Chris, the BMW technician, was able to find the problem and do the repair for $500. I was praying it wouldn't be more than $1K so I am extremely grateful for that. My vehicle was ready to go the next day. What really sold me as a recurring customer was the stark difference in price quotes regarding the 120K mile service. Their quote was almost $1000 cheaper than BMW of Austin! Chris had already inspected my vehicle so he knew what services I would need at that time and gave me a quote based on that. That was a very honest assessment and because of it and my overall experience with them, I highly recommend German Auto Center to others! read more

I had a 2010 VW Golf that had suddenly started having transmission problems. I got an estimate from Onion Creek for more than $6k... but it was full of bogus markups like a new engine cover. I took the car to German Auto and they didn't gouge me. They did $2600 in repairs and the car ran like new again. I would absolutely trust them again with any German car. read more

As you can see by their response, they aren't willing to take responsibility for anything. Yes, we self installed the top, which we informed them of prior to leaving it with them. The "structural damage" in their review was not mentioned until after the second time they couldn't do the job, and they were not able to show us what the damage was. The only damage I'm aware of was a missing bolt (which we provided to them and did not have installed or returned) and some paint scraped off the metal bar. To be clear, the top was functional when I dropped it off, but was not functional when it was returned. When I dropped it off, it would catch a little when being put up, but if you got out and manually unstuck it, it would go up the rest of the way. When it was returned, it was stuck so hard that it required a second person to manually assist the top going up while the driver pressed the button. It's okay they're not a top shop. Car repair can be more art than science sometimes, and I understand when a repair is more complicated than expected. But in my opinion, this is what they got wrong: 1. Blaming me when the top didn't work. 2. Charging full price for repairs that weren't completed. 3. Telling me it was fixed twice when it wasn't. 4. Not just apologizing and taking responsibility. Anyone can apologize and make themself look good in a yelp post. But that doesn't mean anything if they won't stand by their work. read more
