Can't say enough about how fantastic the experience was eating here! Very private and comfortable atmosphere. Salad was great, eggplant too, and the sea bass was top notch. Will definitely be back! read more

Decor, architecture are great, 5 Star, Unfortunately the service is unrefined and food is just okay. Dined with friends, our first visit. We were seated promptly and the room is visually very appealing, the wood, art, lighting and furniture are first class. Live jazz trio was a great touch! Cocktails took a while and then they delivered 3 of the four cocktails and informed us that they had to go to the store room for one of the liquors for the fourth drink. So we sat there with our cocktails and patiently waited for the fourth, it took a while to get the fourth! Felt a tad rushed as they brought our appetizers out right away and we had just started on the cocktails we waited on. The octopus was mediocre, tough and fishy. Carpaccio was just okay, not much flavor. The deconstructed Caesar salad was a wow, really good, not traditional. Pork chop was cooked just right, tender and juicy. Whole Mediterranean sea bass was also moist but not much flavor. The Eggplant dish was simply too simple. A slab of roasted eggplant with no flavor and a cup of stewed tomatoes - also no flavor ( I wanted to ask for some salt). The Pana Cotta dessert was delicious, profiterole's were a delivery system for some tasty chocolate sauce but the rolls were tasteless and stale. Service was not attentive, waited too long for a bottle of wine, had to ask anyone who came to the table to actually perform any table maintenance; empty glasses, water bottles etc, stayed on the table until we asked them to be taken. I watched as the hostess and a server stood in the middle of the restaurant chatting and laughing and then the server pulled out a lip balm from her pocket and proceeded to apply it to her lips. Shouldn't be too surprised, I saw other employees drinking beverages etc on the floor. I understand what they are going for but their service standards and food product do not live up to the hype or the excellent design/decor. read more

10/10 food, ambiance, and service! The seating was extremely comfortable, our waters were always full, the food was divine, and their menu selection was lovely. You MUST try the beef tartare it was outstanding. read more

The food was totally fine. The restaurant is beautifully done, rivals the best interiors in Europe and other big cities. Love it. Wait staff, nice & knowledgeable. BUT, the disconnect: We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ PUMPING (for effect) the tunes SO damn loud, we could not even have a conversation. In a beautiful restaurant like this. With these prices. If I want a DJ and don't want conversation, I go to a club. The wait staff said they couldn't do anything...everyone cleared out except for the table of frat boys next to us (their parents left after paying tho.) Come on Stella's - that is not the ambiance that goes with the thousands you paid an interior designer and architect. Just juvenile. read more

Although the vibes and location was curated well, we got served gluten even though we were assured that there was not gluten in the dishes. Usually this wouldn't have mattered but someone in our party has celiac and is extremely sensitive to gluten. The waiter assured us that there was no gluten and the dish will be cooked in a separate pan. She was sick all day the next day and into the next. NOT a true gluten free spot. But the food was ok, nothing outstanding but good for Boulder standards. Great desert though. Good spot if you're not celiac, if you are it's a gamble. read more

I hate to write this review because this place has a very awesome ambiance. However, the service of the owner was terrible. I have never had an owner be more disrespectful and rude than Stella was to me and my company. She yelled at us immediately because we weren't in the right place which we didn't know because it was our first time. Then she continues to deny us of getting any type of service. She would tell the waiters to ignore us so we would go away. I had a very nice talk with one of the servers and told her that the owner was being so unkind. She apologized. I couldn't imagine working in the food industry and having to apologize for my boss. The boss was extremely immature when I pulled her aside to tell her how the treatment she gave us was unkind and tried to very kindly explain my side. She continued to say I don't care I'm the owner. I have heard from many of my local friends that they have had very similar experiences with the owner as well. Some stories include her monitoring the bathroom in very unnecessary ways. This "monitoring" includes yelling at people for not standing in the correct order. I don't want to support the business of a person who is unkind and completely disrespectful. It's so unfortunate because this place could've been a very awesome place. :( read more

Amazing dinner with family who were visiting! Very accommodating! Would definitely recommend!!!

Great food, good service, and really good ambiance! We loved the live music when we came here on a Saturday night too. We will definitely be back read more

Bartenders were excellent and had great recommendations for food/drink pairings. I sat at the bar and had ongoing interaction with 2 bartenders, both of whom were helpful and professional. read more

We're from out of town and recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here and everything was great. We had a wonderful server, incredible food, and tasty wine. We also enjoyed the DJ and vibes of the restaurant. I definitely recommend trying the pistachio crème brûlée, beef carpaccio, and short ribs. read more

Favorite restaurant in town by far! The bar is beautiful, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great!

The ambiance there is 10/10. They definitely had some deep pockets when they designed the restaurant and it shows. You probably need to go there for that alone. The food is pretty standard fancy fare. Nothing special. It tastes pretty identical to every other place in town at that price point (Kitchen, Salt, etc.) read more

This started off as what promised to be an awesome experience. The Carpaccio was pretty amazing and the shaved baby artichokes were also phenomenal then came the entrees. 3 of the women in my group ordered the Sea Bass and out came a plate of whole fish that had been butterflied. I've never seen Sea Bass served in this manner. It was a super thin fish full of bones and had no flavor. My friends were picking bones out their mouth with every bite. It was served with undercooked potato wedges and quite a lot of zucchini. I am well aware of the "zucchini" as a filler trick but not in a restaurant that charges these prices and no one should be picking fish bones out of their mouth at a swanky place like this. i had the saffron pasta with shrimp which came served in a large pasta bowl dressed with raw paprika sprinkled around the edges. Raw paprika should NEVER be used to dress a plate what an awful taste. The pasta was dry, over cooked, had zero saffron and no seasoning. Super disappointing. Ordered their "Terra" Misu and out come a small clay flower pot with half of a dry chewy lady finger topped with whipped cream and chocolate crumbles. I never found the mascarpone, coffee or orange liqueur that was in the description. I would go back for a drink and an appetizer and to hear the live music but at 9pm we went from live Jazz to a DJ that was not the best either. I don't know what's happened to Boulder's food scene. 25 years ago I used to tell people that even the chains in Boulder taste better. Now it reminds me of the over priced mediocre restaurants you find all over Orange County, sigh . I was hoping for something like Radda Trattoria when it first opened in Boulder. Oh well! another one bites the dust. Go for the vibe, a cocktail and the appetizers and do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for dinner. read more

With a speakeasy style, Stella's is a windowless space with NYC signature black walls, dominated by a bar. The music playing added to the atmosphere as we walked in The spritz cocktail and house white wine were well done, and I was anticipating the Michelin rated chef's food. We split a dish from every page, skipping the soup. The salad was bright and light without being over powered by a dressing. The ravioli was pleasant but not notable. The whole fish was very nicely presented but so, so salty to be almost inedible. I had to ask for some lemon..My wife told me her hairdresser had also commented about this, so I guess not a one off. The side I tried the beans with calabrian chili, but disappointed by total lack of heat or smoke. The choux pastries were nice but simple with cream and chocolate ganache. I tried to order a lungo off menu and was hopeful when my pronunciation was corrected. I was disappointed getting Americano at first attempt and a double espresso the 2nd. Nice beans, but an off menu request so no foul. All in all the above ran to $200. I do spend some time in the city, so I'm used to NYC prices and food. In Manhattan, I don't think I would repeat visit. read more

Food was all good. Filet, pork, and ravioli. Service was smooth non-invasive. Dessert was solid. Drinks were on point but serving size was small for the price. read more

From walking into the restaurant to getting our coffee at the end it was great service. Very attentive and informative. The ambiance was excellent. Like walking into a secret speakeasy. Décor was tasteful and made the space seem spacious. There was a small band playing lively jazz music. Our waitress was great and had wonderful timing. My husband I shared each course. We started out with cocktails, then wine and finished with coffee all were spot on! Appetizer was the poached octopus. Well balance with sweet, sour and salty, octopus was delicate and not chewy at all. Next was the red shrimp saffron fettuccine, it was amazing. Noodles cooked aldente and shrimp again were cooked perfectly. The saffron sauce has a hint of heat at the finish but not overly spicy, again just a great sauce. We chose the steak for our main. Ordered medium rare and that is how it was cooked. It was a good piece of meat with an yummy Demi glacé. Sear on the steak could have been better but again good meat cooked to temp. Dessert we had the raspberry tart and some espresso. Overall we really enjoyed our reservation. Note: they do have open bar seats and a few high tops if you don't have a reservation but would like to try getting a spot. We will be back to try other plates as each place was very good. Recommend! read more

Okay, where to begin? Let's start with the bathroom because I had to use it not long after being seated. I waited longer in line at the bathroom than I did to be seated. This is because there are only two single occupancy bathrooms. This is completely inadequate for a restaurant of this size, especially when there is a wedding party and the women of the wedding party believe it's appropriate to commandeer both restrooms, two in one and three in the other for 20+ minutes at a time. I would assume they were doing drugs but these Karen's didn't seem like the bathroom-fun-drug type. I get it, this isn't necessarily a problem of this establishment's, if you consider two single occupancy restrooms appropriate for a restaurant/bar of this size so let's talk about the service. Our server was nice enough but we waited far too long for our main course to arrive while most of the wait staff and kitchen/back of house staff cajoled and yucked it up and took pictures and videos with one of their coworkers/buddies who was celebrating a birthday and enjoying their VIP attention while seated in a special section directly behind the DJ booth. They were creating such a scene that I couldn't help but notice the comped porterhouse and bottles of wine and drinks that was bestowed upon this VIP coworker/buddy. The full staff and management seemed happy that this kid was able to visit the kitchen and upstairs, I noticed this while I was waiting 20+ minutes in the bathroom line by the kitchen. Now what you all have been waiting for, the food must've been terrific right? Wrong! I ordered the Pappardelle, the pasta was good but the ragu was so salty it was almost inedible and tasted like what I believe canned dog food would taste like. The drinks tho!! We ordered a couple of their house cocktails, they tasted good and were reasonably priced at $14 each. We should've stuck with those but by this point I was pretty over it and just wanted a gin martini. Botanist gin is listed in their drink menu at $12, let's have a couple dirty Botanist martinis. They were okay, could've been a little more dirty and when the bill came we were charged $18 each for them. Yup, $6 for a splash of vermouth, olive brine and a shake. Overall I couldn't be more disappointed in this experience. It couldn't have been more terrible for a $200+ experience. I will not be going back here and would never recommend it to anyone. There is far better fine dining food and experiences in Boulder some of which are less than a block away from this place. Avoid Stella's at all costs. read more

I recently came here w friends and sat at the bar. Everything about this place is amazing. You are completely transported out of boulder. The hostess was so nice and lovely. Woah! Such a cool vibe. Only went for drinks but I was spectacular. Service was top notch as well! Get the espresso martini. You're welcome.

Ambience and service are exceptional; unfortunately, that only makes up half of the dining experience. The food looks beautiful but the flavors are bland and uninspired. I only had one dish out of many that left an impression on me. When you're paying this much for dinner, you expect a certain level of quality. You won't find it at Stella's. They desperately need a new chef - one whose food goes beyond aesthetics and actually tastes good. The food I make at home doesn't look nearly this pretty, but it's far more satisfying. The dining experience at Stella's leaves you feeling empty. The juxtaposition between the incredible atmosphere and the lack of flavor and inspiration in the food is severe and defines the experience at this poseur restaurant - they could never get away with this ruse in a big city. Will not return. read more

Food was wonderful, exceptional service. The atmosphere is very bright and inviting. The live music was great - definitely recommend.

What an experience, I rarely feel this way but Stella Cucina is a 10 out of 10 for so many reasons. When you walk down the mirrored hallway entrance you and the fellas are transported into another world. Upon entry we were met by an extremely well fashioned and friendly staff that was fired up to seat us and show off their restaurant. The server was extremely well versed in the menu and clearly took pride in his job. The food was EXCELLENT, and the interior decoration was very hip and well thought out, Stella herself came and checked in on our table several times even taking the time to tell us about her story and inspiration for this spot. Lastly the vibe was SO cool.. great music by a live DJ that wasn't too loud but still got the fellas moving. Overall I couldn't have been any happier with this experience, I will come back and recommend to anybody with good taste and ears to listen. JL read more

Amazing upscale dining. Feels super exclusive due to it being pretty hidden from the main strip despite being right on it. Love this spot!

Super good food and even better service. Not cheap but so good. Cool atmosphere as well.

As someone who lives to dine finely, I was very impressed with my dinner here last night. Every aspect was perfect. From the friendly and accommodating staff to the incredible food and presentation. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a high quality experience without completely breaking the bank. read more

Great ambiance, club-type vibe. Service was fast and friendly. My dish wasn't my favorite (risotto), but my husband enjoyed his pasta dish.

I suppose this is Italian food for folks who don't know Italian food. The ribollita was disappointing -- beans undercooked, a giant stem of chard simply slapped down across the bowl, and some wet bread in a thin soup. If you were expecting -- as I was -- something less like bean soup and more like the luxuriant, baked, creamy, caramelized oniony wonder that is ribollita, you would wonder if someone else got your order. The gnocci was pretty good but not worth the $$. Same goes for the potatoes. The best part of the cioccolati dessert was the raspberry coulis but a (tiny bit of) sauce does not a dessert make. Overall, the place feels undeservedly pretentious. I'm sure that novelty will keep them busy for a while but the Italians will be dining elsewhere. read more

Some of the best and most unique Tiramisu we've ever had! This place had top notch service, polite and friendly staff. We came only for drinks and cocktails but I imagine the food is just as creative and delicious. The ambiance is relaxed and elegant with a live band playing in the corner. Date worthy, business relationship worthy, relax with friends in a classy way worthy. read more

Nice hidden place. Fancy and good italian food. Good wine selection and great to have primero y secondi plato

The food here is absolutely amazing! Can't wait to go back and try more items from their menu. Drinks are phenomenal as well.

Lovely atmosphere with chill music by a DJ with a lounge vibe. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. House-made pasta dishes were excellent and the pork chop was well seasoned. We tried a special appetizer which was tasty and highly recommend the rum cake for dessert. Cocktails were excellent, I would come back just to have a drink and appetizer or dessert at the bar. read more

Stella's is a sham. I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and they sat us at the bar. The booth's were empty...and they said they had many more people coming...It was 8 o'clock and the place was empty. The Menu is weak with just 3 or 4 entrees and appetizers to choose from. When I told them I was not impressed, and wanted to leave the waiter screamed at me from the Maître De table"Asshole!". I was there with my 12 year Old daughter who was completely in SCHOCK! read more

Fantastic find in Boulder. Sleek but fresh. Sophisticated but friendly. Excellent food - very unique and delicious.

Our waiter made a racist comment to one of our guests. Will not be returning to Stella's.

Definitely not worth the hype or the price. The food is fine, nothing special. But the staff is rude and obnoxious.
