I found this place using yelp so it would only be right to review it. This place has a very down to earth setting. Looks like many locals have found this place. There is counter service as well as table service. They have tables outside as well. The moment I walked in I knew this place was going to be great and great, it was. My husband had the peach waffle special. The exact name was a little more extravagant than that. It was delicious and the presentation was just awesome. I had your basic eggs and for $4 there was nothing to complain about at all. Came with an potato mixture of some sort which was the best potato side I've ever had with eggs. Stella g blew my mind with her banana oatmeal raisin pancakes. I was all about lunch but when I saw that option on the menu I had to. Those pancakes changed my life. I'm inspired to persue my dream career in marine biology and make a difference in a positive way much like Stella g did for me with her pancakes. And let me shout out the service too. Every meal I've had at Stella G's has been wonderful. My favorite is the vegetable risotto - delicious - love the thin crispy fried onions on top, a perfect touch. Sometimes there is a wait on weekend mornings, but always worth the wait. Food is fresh, in season, and consistently excellent. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Vastly overrated! Seating policy has been discussed extensively but it is so annoying... They must prepare ham and cheese omelets differently in Austria because I was under the mistaken impression that a ham omelet would have ham in it...I would have spoken to the waitress but after delivering our meal she seemed to have gone on sabbatical! I've been coming to Stella G's for the last 5 years whenever I come home and visit my family. In fact, I've brought my friends from JC here on day trips. We arrived at the restaurant at a little after 1 pm. We were told the kitchen would be closing soon. It wasn't even 1:15 and the hours are listed as open until 2 pm. They didn't have any food left, so there was no avocado toast, no blueberry french toast, so I settled for scrambled eggs and asked for french fries instead of the potatoes which have bacon. It came out with a side of mixed veggies, fine. We got our food by 1:30. The staff cleaned up all around us and we felt very rushed. We were out by 1:45 - 1:50. The waitress was excellent and we didn't take it out on her, but the chef, who I think is the owner, walked right by us and didn't say anything. The service is the only reason I gave two stars instead of one. I'm sad to see this wonderful place go downhill. It was a great restaurant in Hackettstown, a fun place to get away. I still recommend day trips to Hackettstown for their breweries, Tracey's Candy Shop (not mine, but amazing) and their beautiful victorian houses. read more

After a friends recommendation, my wife and I went to Stella G's for dinner this evening. Our overall recommendation is "good but not great". The interior is comfortable but nothing special. Real table clothes rather than vinyl would be a welcome improvement. For appetizers, my wife had Cappellini with Arraibiata Salsa, which had a comfortable spice. I thought this an odd combination but the flavor was okay. I had the Artichoke & Truffle Rissoto with Jersey corn which was well-prepared. The rice was firm and creamy. Clearly this dish was the best of the evening. For entrees, my wife had Filet Goulash Stroganoff, with garlic mashed potatoes. The dish had an overload of potatoes and a shortage of filet. And the sauce was straight out of a can. While my Irish-decent wife enjoyed the potatoes, the rest of the dish was very disappointing. For my entree, I had Shrimp Tempura. Either the shrimp were over-cooked or not fresh, because they came with a noticeable crunch after every bite. I thought the dish needed some liquid to offset the tempura, but there was none. Some green mousse-like substance was on the plate but it did not add anything to the dish. We did spy dishes as they came out of the kitchen and the burgers looked delightful. I think we'll go with the burgers for the next visit. I think a good cappuccino maker would do well for this restaurant, but again, there was none. Our overall impression is that Stella G's is top notch for Hackettstown, but it would not fair well in another area. On the up-side, it is a BYOB type of place. read more

Stella gs is amazing. I have eaten there about twenty times and never ever had a bad meal. I love their specials and attention to detail. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only negative thing I have to say is that their portions are not as large as some other breakfast places. But other than that the place and the food are great. read more

I really like this place as a little uptick on the standard diner for breakfast and lunch. The food is always very fresh with some nice specials every day and the service is friendly and efficient. It's a cozy place and they have a few tables out on the sidewalk where you can watch Hackettstown pass by. Good value and definitely worth a visit. read more

Brought 4-5 hungry teenage boys in here for a post-soccer game brunch. Service was slightly slow (maybe only seemed that way since boys were ravenous) but food was excellent, correct-sized portions (ie not typical American oversized) meant our boys had to order extra pancakes but that's ok! Customer service seriously lacking... We've been here several times and never had any issues. On Saturday 4/13/2019 we stopped in for breakfast at around 8:30 am. There were 5 open tables and no one else waiting, but we were told we either had to sit at the counter (there were only two seats left and they were separated by several patrons) or wait for a table for two to open up because, according to the hostess "we can't seat two people at a 4-person table). I pointed out the fact that there were 5 open tables and NO ONE else waiting, but she just repeated herself. It is really great when a restaurant exceeds your expectations - we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Stella G;'s. I would give it 4.5 stars for the combination of food and value, but Yelp doesn't allow half stars. I don't say this often, but my entree was sublime. I had the roasted chicken Breast with butternut squash risotto, tomatoes crowned with gruyere - all for $7.50. My husband has the meatloaf - which was very good, but not as good as my choice. The coffee was perfect. We did get the German chocolate cake for desert which was above average. They pay attention to small details such a slice of lemon in the water. There was even hand cream in the spotless restroom. The service was wonderful. And its BYOB if you want. I can't wait to go back. read more
