I was at Kittatinny state park and was looking for something close by to eat and decided to go to this diner. Typical diner with a huge menu with breakfast lunch options with many tables. I had the steakhouse burger and it was very good and good portions. It included big juicy fried onion rings which gave it a lot of flavor. The French fries were good as well, crispy and not overdone. Very nice small retro diner located in a beautif scenic town in Andover with many antique shops. Our family stopped in after a day shopping and we were very surprised how good the food and service was. The portions were big and delicious with such FLAVOR! Really friendly staff and conveniently located right on Route 206 S in Andover. Usual diner options PLUS a small smattering of Mexican dishes. Overall, average diner quality although the french onion soup was a tremendous flop. Would advise against ordering it and conversely, urge the chef to look into more accurate and authentic preparation. Last and something of importance, their hours are terrible. Never heard of a diner closing at 8pm ever, let alone on a Saturday???!! read more

And they have all the regular great foods a diner would have plus the best Mexican food around! The staff is super nice and attentive and kid friendly! Eaten a few times here it's ok for a fast breakfast not the best but not much around to compare to. Air conditioning set way to cold and uncomfortable. Kitchen speed not up to par waited on a bowl of oatmeal and fruit cup that took 40 minutes. Again it's ok if you want a mediocre breakfast. read more

My husband and toddler went for lunch and ordered breakfast October 5, 2024 around 1pm. Service was great and food was good. Our bill came to $33.55. I paid with credit card and left $10.00 cash tip. I just went into my credit card app, and was charged $41.89. I made sure when I signed to put the amount $33.55 and $0 in tip to only charge the $33.55! I did throw out the receipt so I'm not too certain if I can put in a complaint. I do scan my receipts to fletch app and that's the only proof I have. When paying please be AWARE! Horrible feeling to see this when going over your bills! We hardly ever eat out and then this happens. Dishonest! read more

I'll start with the svc was great. We heard good things so we wanted to try it out. I don't do bfast and maybe that's what it's known for. I ordered the special empanadas de carne with rice and beans. The empanadas were not carne (red meat) they were pollo (chicken) so that was my first warning. The beans looked waxed over and then they were cold. The rice was dry. I have no clue what the point of the cheese was bc I clearly said I don't do raw onion. My husband had the lentil soup after we asked for split pea but they were out. He got the soupy Cole slaw and Philly cheesesteak. It was a $40 meal that we were dissatisfied with. Our waitress was sweet but couldn't answer questions due to a language barrier. I had only been here once a few years ago, wasn't impressed then but was willing to give it another try. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting a long time. My panini (turkey, spinach, bacon, tomato, mozzarella on ciabatta bread) was somewhat tasty but it wasn't grilled as a panini should be. The bread was hard, as if toasted, the baby spinach & mozzarella weren't hot so my feeling is the bread was toasted and the ingredients added. An even bigger disappointment were the choices of desserts. Nothing special. Ordered carrot cake but the icing tasted like butter cream. It definitely wasn't cream cheese icing. I ordered pickup for a steak quesadilla, recommended by a friend, hostess was nice, order was ready in ten minutes. It cost $15.50 plus a $4 tip. I get home, (15 minute drive) a few pieces of steak, but what really grinds my gears was there was... no cheese. Call restaurant, pass me off to a few people, instead of trying to solve it, start saying "the cook said there was cheese." I was like, "I mean want me to show you? There is no cheese." I dug through it and literally COUNTED three pieces of shredded cheese. Didn't offer to replace, I didn't even want to bother with this one. Atmosphere: The Andover Diner has recently gone through an owner change, and it looks fresh and well kept. The outside is very spacious, if not one of the best outdoor seatings I've seen in New Jersey. All tables have their own separate tent and table. If you are going in for takeout, there are multiple signs that say wear a mask and they also have a one way entrance and exit. It's clear they are not playing around, which I am thankful for. Food: The Andover Diner menu has everything you want in a diner. There are plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials. They have everything from eggs, pancakes, omelets, sandwiches, salads, and dinner specials. I wasn't sure what I was in the mood for and decided to keep it simple with a BLT. I can't remember the last time I ordered a BLT. I added french fries. The BLT was good, but there wasn't anything unusual about it. The french fries were the typical diner french fries: frozen and reheated. The Andover Diner wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything unusual. Service: The hostess was friendly and our food was done in 10 minutes. Everyone was wearing a mask and I felt as though they took the pandemic very seriously. Andover Diner Cost: $ For my BLT and french fries, it was $7.50. That's the cost of fast food! Would I come back? I liked the Andover Diner, and they did a great job of making sure everyone was safe and socially distanced. We've visited the Andover Diner in the past and it's a reliable stop for decent food along 206. On our most recent visit, we noted that the prices seem to have increased markedly, which we chalked up to the impact of COVID. That's totally understandable. However, when we went to pay the check, there was a small sign at the register noting a 3.99% upcharge for paying via credit card, with the menu prices being for cash customers. This policy wasn't stated on the menu, where people could read it and then choose their meals based on what they could afford. (Or if it was, it was far from obvious.) It's deceptive to inform customers of this upcharge after they've eaten their meals. Fortunately I had enough cash to cover the check, but I didn't appreciate the diner's attempt to position an upcharge as a "benefit" for those who paid cash. We've all been places where discounts are offered for paying cash, but you're given that choice before you've consumed what you're buying. In that case you have the chance to change your purchase decision. I may not have had the chance to 'put back' what I was buying, but I have a choice not to return, and I won't, at least not until the Andover Diner is under new ownership. read more

Andover Diner is an okay spot for grabbing a quick and unimpressive meal. While in the area a few of us stopped in for Spaghetti and Meatballs, Beef Goulash, and Chicken Francaise over Rice. Pretty standard fare for a Jersey Diner to prepare and all of our soups and entrees came out just okay. It's a bit below your typical kind of Diner, it offers nothing special and no one really cares if you're happy with your meal or not.    I noticed it was pretty empty around dinner time when we arrived and after we tasted the food we realized why that was. It's just not that good. I felt that the Beef Goulash which I ordered tasted off. I'm used to this dish with a brown sauce, so when it arrived in a tomato sauce I was a bit surprised. The sauce, to me tasted like it might have been hanging around a bit too long. The Meat was not slow cooked at all and was extremely tough. The other two meals that we ordered were also 'not winners' and so the agreement was made that we definitely don't need to make a return visit here anytime soon. read more
