Northern hospitality? The waitstaff (Lisa?) was pretty much phenomenal, a perfect balance of efficient, friendly, attentive, and helpful. Then there's the food, which was just as on point as service. The grits, eggs, and short stack pancakes were all exactly as I hoped for - brekkie classics cooked to perfection, nothing more, nothing less. The ambience, highlighted by an open plan dining room and booths, was also just right for a quiet weekday brekkie on the road. There's parking spots aplenty. I how they continue to do well for many more years.

    Roast Beef with gravy

I've been driving past this place for years and finally stopped for dinner. Well worth the stop. Ordered the roast beef with gravy over white bread. Loved it. Great comfort food that brought me back to a meal my mother used to make for us.

While in Branchville in Sussex County, I decided to stop at the Jumboland Diner. I wasn't terribly hungry and in fact was eating a couple of hours later, but I had wanted to go to the Jumboland for a while so I decided to get a light snack.  Like all of New Jersey, the Jumboland is open for outdoor seating and takeout. They had a nice picnic table set up so I decided to eat outdoors. Atmosphere: The Jumboland atmosphere is safe. The picnic tables are at least 6 feet apart. Plus they have a drive through to pick up your food. Is Jumboland the only diner to have a drive thru? Maybe, but I thought it was awesome. The outside is inviting and welcoming. Food: The Jumboland Diner menu has everything you would want in a diner. They have plenty of breakfasts from omelets, to steak and eggs, to lunch and dinner specials. They are also known for their salad bar which I have to wonder if it will return post COVID times. The other unique component is there is an ice cream stand attached to dienr. If you just want ice cream, you can get that too. is also known for their ice cream and they have a whole separate section for that too. How cool! Since I was eating somewhere else later (seriously was I diner pregaming?), I decided to order their Jumboland Special Salad. The Jumboland Special Salad had strawberries, pecans, feta cheese, all over mixed greens. The strawberries were fresh and it was a good salad. I was impressed! Service: We wanted to get breakfast. Online it says they are open at 5 am. Great, we thought and tried to stop by at 5:30...they were closed. Then we tried at 6:15 and still closed. So it was upsetting. I had my heart set on going to the Jumboland so we went later in the day. Later in the day was fine and it was open as usual but no one could tell me why they weren't open we stopped by earlier. Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back? I liked the Jumboland Diner and thought it was a good meal, slightly more expensive for the amount of food.

I've been a member of culver lake and have grown up eating here, grandparents even have a picture I drew of the place hanging in their office! It's diner fare, huge menu and reasonable prices and yes big portions. Eating outdoors was different, but they are constantly cleaning and the waitstaff is friendly and bringing their A game. My Cobb salad was delicious, I loved the blue cheese! My husband went all out and got their Texas dog (huge) and chili cheese fries (a massive portion) and mozzarella sticks. We had to have ice cream and even a small soft serve is BIG. Fun comfort food spot, I'm happy they are still around!

I found this little gem only because my husband decided to take another route home from PA this afternoon. It was Visiting Day at my daughters camp in Honesdale, we were completely stuffed after having a big BBQ lunch, yet my little picky eater ate absolutely nothing and was famished, so we were looking for a place to stop for her to get a bite to eat. Pancakes was what she wanted, but all the places we passed along the way offered lunch and dinner only. Finally, we see Jumboland with their big sign out front ... breakfast, lunch and dinner!! We walk in and I'm struck right away by the coziness and country town feel of the place. I loved all the little league plaques proudly displayed on their walls of the local teams they support. The diner is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Cindy is the head waitress and made sure I had a couple of take out menus to take home with me, and our waitress went out of her way to make copies of the ice cream menu for me, as they didn't have any. I really wished at this point I didn't partake in that BBQ lunch. I could tell by all the entrees that were being brought out that Jumboland delivers delicious food and very generous portions. Their menu is extensive: Breakfast consists of Farm Fresh Eggs, Specialty and Creative Omelette's, Breakfast wraps and Sandwiches, Breads, Muffins, Bagelry and different types of Pancakes, French Toast and Waffles. Lunch choices are Super, Triple Decker and Panini Sandwiches, Gourmet Wraps, nice selection of Burgers, Hot dogs, Pita and Gyros. Dinner choices are homemade Soups and Chili, Cold Platters, "Waist" Watchers and Diet Delights, Chicken Buckets and Dinners, Italian Specialties, Roasts and Entrees as well as Seafood, which is ALWAYS fresh. There is also a very nice salad bar in the dining area. We ordered the Banana and Chocolate Chip short stack. They were so loaded with each it was more than enough food for the three of us to share. In most cases, this would be a good thing, but ...... Jumboland also has it's own separate Ice Cream Parlor. Their Ice Cream menu is so amazing and indescribable I had to take pictures for you to see for yourself. Tommy Micos opened Jumboland in 1960 and it's obvious that this is a place that is loved by many. You leave with a full belly and a smile on your face. We shall be returning, and next time I skip the BBQ. Too much good food to miss out on here and I want to give Jumboland the 5 stars it deserves!!

Fantastic ice cream cone until I found the piece of plastic.

We went to see my 96 year old great Aunt Annie, and afterwards, we stopped here. It was raining out so we decided to use the drive through. I went with a large twist cone and my mom and brother got a scoop of hard ice cream. Total was just under $10.00. The good- Huge ice cream cone! They hooked it up! It was creamy and rich and tasted great. The lady working the drive through counter was incredibly nice and friendly! The bad- About halfway through my ice cream cone, I was taking a lick and noticed something solid. I took another lick and then looked down and saw something poking out of my ice cream. I pulled it out and it was a 2 inch piece of plastic wire! Looked like either a fishing line or the type of plastic you find on tags when you buy clothes. Whatever the case, I was shocked when I found it! I pulled it out and continued on my ice cream, but if this cone was for a kid, or if I had whoofed down my ice cream without finding it, this thing could have done some possible damage if it had been swallowed. I understand that shit happens, but a piece of plastic shouldn't be found in ice cream...ever! For that fact alone, I doubt I would come back to this spot. Too bad because the ice cream and service was actually really good!

***1 1/2 stars***…read more It's pretty rare for me to go below two stars, but we literally couldn't find any redeeming qualities other than a kid-friendly chalkboard off to the side. Rough, rough lunch and I'm picking the places going forward. I came here with my top-tier chum and #1 honorary young pup chum for a midday meal yesterday. This was an unfortunate recommendation by my chum, but in her defense, the biggest selling point was that they had a young pup section of the menu (which many of my suggestions didn't). This may have been a sign that it's time for the young pup to just order off adult menus going forward. This is probably a weird time of year to be over here anyway; this restaurant recently moved next to the baseball stadium, and December just isn't the greatest page on the calendar for America's pastime so it feels a little wasteland-ish right now. There were also a few random amusement park rides that we had to walk around to access the entrance (apparently more for a nighttime winter festival of sorts?) so the vibes were a little off to start. The interior was fine though - there's an interesting looking bar off to the left and high ceilings, so it feels more spacious than it actually is, given the overall square footage you're dealing with. I also enjoyed the cow decor, though I might be missing the joke with some of the cow/pig hybrid animals on display. My chum remarked that it seemed like the menu was designed by someone who'd never actually tasted the food, and certainly wasn't the same person who cooked it. Definitely a possibility, but my general impression was that this is ostensibly a family restaurant (remember the chalkboard?) with a menu only targeting young female adults, from the bar food to the cocktails. It's very strange. I wish there was a nicer way to say it, but the cocktails were terrible. I had their version of an Old Fashioned, which had coffee in it. Just did not go well together at all; there's a reason why Irish coffee with Bailey's was invented - not every dark spirit is going to work with coffee. I find it hard to believe this was taste-tested before being added to the menu. Never again. I felt worse for my chum though, who got a holiday twist on a margarita with cranberry. It was so beyond tart I could barely swallow it and it honestly tasted like cough medicine. In a quasi-NSFW comment, my chum mentioned that this drink might be helpful for a UTI, but alas, we were at a restaurant, not a pharmacy. At the very least, they need to retrain their bartenders on basic portions of a cocktail, but when the ingredients clash, that's a management issue. We got the Cow Wedgies to share as an app - basically, flattened mozzy sticks. I like the flattened concept but these were pretty bad. I'm assuming the issue here is they were in the deep fryer for too long because they had pockets of grease that would pop when you bit into them, almost like a pimple. One of those pockets exploded and stained the front of my hoodie. Not great - an unappetizing appetizer. The impression I got was that The Barnyard were pretty aggressively touting the chicken/waffles section of the menu. I went with the Winner Winner, which was another example of not understanding basic palates and taste profiles. This is a savory item - it has chicken, mashed potatoes and this gravy/corn concoction. Inexplicably, they then added this weird tangy sauce that would be better served on a bang bang shrimp app that completely ruined the dish. It's such an unforced error I don't understand how it happened. It's going to come as no surprise, but the service matched the overall quality of the meal. There were very few customers on the premises and yet our waitress was mostly MIA. She never came by to check on us after serving the food, despite making multiple trips to a table near us to inefficiently clear it practically one item at a time. It's very hard to give constructive feedback when an experience is this bad, but to me it starts at the very beginning - make sure the items on your menu taste good and that your staff is properly trained on basic hospitality concepts. The Kingdom of Sussex deserves a lot better than this.

You order at the counter and are given a placard for your table and your food is then brought to you. The biggest complaint from our party would be all drinks are for purchase not even tap water is given. Which is fine we had our own water. We ordered a side of waffle fries and the sloppy tots for the table. The side of waffle fries could've definitely been larger. The sloppy tots were delicious as the tots were well done and topped deliciously with beer cheese, bbq sauce, pork, and sour cream. They just needed a little salt. Everyone ordered a burger and they were good just super greasy. I ordered the pub burger in which the Irish cheese was definitely an acquired taste but the pretzel bun was delicious. The ya filthy animal burger I think would've been between with the coleslaw on the side as it made a mushy consistency. The stampede burger and bacon mushroom Swiss were both good. I will say for $15 per burger a little ridiculous it doesn't come with any side and just a pickle. The inside has almost a diner vibe to it but all the staff were friendly and polite.
