Agi's Surf & Turf Buger
Joe M.

While visiting family I stopped in at the Village Diner - the food and service did not disappoint. I had The Dirty Jersey Omelette which was chock full of fried Taylor Pork Roll- just what I was looking for having grown up eating this delicious cross between Bologna, Bacon and Ham. If you are from the tri-state area - you know. The menu is huge and there are so many things I am going to try on future visits but the Agi's Surf & Turf Burger top that list. I hope everyone back east appreciates and supports the local diners in their towns and neighborhoods - they are few and far between out west and most lack the character and selections that places like the Village Diner serve up daily.

Village diner is offering pickup and limited indoor seating during the pandemic. We dropped in for breakfast on our way back to NYC from Narrowsburg. Customers were very well distanced, and we basically had the whole back of the restaurant to ourselves. This is a super classic roadside trailer/diner. Past the freeway there is a beautiful view of the hilly trees. The interior is old school, along with their tables and booth seating (the seating could use a little rehab). Firstly - GREAT coffee. Their menu is a little more updated than the typical diner with things like baklava pancakes and redneck Benedict. I got the jersey skillet that came with Taylor ham, hash browns, cheddar cheese and two fried eggs. We also tried the redneck Benedict (very good) and a the Belgian waffle (not so Belgian, but still tasty). This is definitely a great little spot to stop into when you're looking for a diner with and upgrade.

Breakfast was truly Excellent yesterday (Sunday) Morning. We enjoyed sitting outside. Avocado toast was truly delicious. Shout out to the "Handsome Young Man" who was our waiter - he was really cool and very pleasant. Thanks for preparing my eggs appropriately and making the french fries well done. Best grits I've had North of the Mason-Dixon Line. Will definitely be making the visits over there again. Thank You!

Village Diner is more than just your quintessential highway eatery... it's a walk down memory lane! Family-owned and operated, Village Diner combines classic American fare with a blast of Greek fusion that is nothing short of fantastic. And let's not forget about the pie! We opted for the carrot cake and LOVED it. Next time you're in Northeast PA, I highly recommend stopping by Village Diner for a family meal. Special thanks to the owner's Maria and Bill for making this road trip one we will never forget.

Bar Louis was the perfect dinner spot for our weekend trip to Milford. The round booths (with…read morepillows & blankets!!) in the chalet-themed restaurant made for a cozy, inviting environment. We ordered the escargot, the Niçoise, and the branzino. All of the dishes were delicious and the PERFECT way to celebrate. Our service was phenomenal, and our server was very helpful with the specials. We would definitely recommend Bar Louis to anyone and everyone! There's something for everyone on the menu, and the cozy ambiance makes you feel right at home.

My friend had been to Bar Louis two years ago and remembered one dish she could not forget - the Sushi Pizza. She said it's one of the reasons she returns to this little enclave in northeastern PA. Descending the hotel stairs to the venue, the vibe at Bar Louis is welcoming and cozy. The bartender, who took time to help my friend find a Rose wine that she said was excellent, also made a food recommendation - the pan roasted chicken breast. We started with the pizza. I had absolutely no idea what to expect. My first bite was jaw dropping - the base is a crispy, sticky rice, that's thick and lightly fried in a tempura - it was perfect. The topping - well, was over the top. Tuna crudo, so fresh and tender, topped with caviar and a mild chili aioli that's heavenly. It was one of the most unique dishes I've had. We followed the recommendation and ordered the chicken. It was flavorful, full of juice, with wild mushrooms and fennel. It was superb. After such a great meal, the dessert had quite a bar to reach, but it had no problem meeting that challenge. The semi-sweet chocolate pot de crème was amazing - I have OCD - obsessive chocolate disorder and this satisfied all my desires and compulsions. It was that good. We will be returning to Milford next year for more hiking.....and sushi pizza!

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
