We had a fantastic dinner here yesterday (Father's Day). I ordered off the special menu. Duck confit salad, Black bass main, and panna cotta for desert --amazing. The sauce on the duck leg was divine. Guest had salad, branzino, and cherry-peach crumble for dessert. The crumble was out of this world. Service was nice, Chef Kavon even came out as the kitchen closed down to say hello--he's three weeks new but imagine if he did this for starters what greatness will come. My husband and I have long been meaning to go to brunch at the Delmonico Room. This weekend, we finally made the drive over from New Jersey to Milford. My husband chose the burger and was a little let down when he was told by our waiter that they were out of American cheese (as a topping). He decided at that point to just go without any cheese. My disappointment came in my cup of coffee. It was very dark, and almost tasted like it had been burnt. I did notice a fellow diner had ordered a pot of French press coffee. I wondered if her coffee was any better than the single cup of coffee that I ordered. Also, the French press coffee pot is not listed anywhere on their menu. Where my coffee was lacking, my main order of baked French toast certainly made up for it. Two delicious baked brioche buns made into French toast and accompanied with sweet chantilly cream and blueberry compote. I enjoyed every sweet bite of my French toast, and would certainly recommend it. We sadly did not have any room for dessert, but certainly look forward to trying Bar Louis for dinner in the near future. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Faucheres (Delmonico Room) Restaurant for years and it has always been a fine dining experience. I must say, that this place has taken a nose dive. We had reservations for brunch, we walked in thru the main entry way door and stood there for 5 minutes before any one came over (there was a young lady sitting at a desk who clearly worked there and saw us, however,made no effort to acknowledge our presence). Finally, a staff member came by and seated us. We sat at the table and waited 20 minutes before any one came by. We gave our order immediately, so as not to wait any longer. Incidentally the restaurant may have had 6 tables that were occupied. Roughly another 20 minutes passed by before we got our food. The french onion soup as so salty that it was inedible. I sent it back. The omelet I ordered to be soft (On the runny side) was firmly cooked and my wife also ordered an omelet with (SOFT) bacon and that was not as requested. The waitress offered her apologies a said that she would take the onion soup ($14.00) off of the bill. She did not until I pointed it out to her. The only positive thing that I can say is that the wait staff was polite. So, its fortunate for us that we know the area well and that the Milford Diner is a stones throw away. If you want fine dining you may want to try Peter's Europa House in Shohola, Pa also near by. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! read more

This place is beautiful. Looks like a beautiful home on an enchanted street. Walking in to very friendly greeters and amazing staff of waiters and host didn't even come close to how wonderful the food was. Absolutely delicious. Our waitress Faith, was hardworking, sweet, funny and knowledgeable. She recommended the fish that our part of 6 will never forget... the duck crepes. Fantastic! Drinks were good and lamps chops were too die for. Plus the picture on the wall were just super cool! 10/10 read more

Preface: I came here for a small afternoon wedding ceremony and reception. The Delmonico Room is located inside the Hotel Fauchere. The place smells clean. The atmosphere is gorgeous in a modern rustic way. The ceremony was done very well by the staff. The employees had a very lighthearted and nice yet professional manner about them. Afterwards we sat down for the reception. Laid out they had a cheese plate with these amazing chunks of Parmesan cheese and brie. I started with the salad which was delicious. It had apples and sweet balsamic dressing. My main course was the Short Rib dish. YUM, the flavors rocked. They added a lot of herbs and stuff on top. I believe there was an assortment of different style onions like red onion, chives, etc. This REALLY brought out the flavor. Now for the absolute best part...CAKE. They have an on staff pastry chef (I need to find out her information), but she made this absolutely delicious beyond words chocolate flour less cake with raspberry filling and whipped cream frosting. I rarely eat my entire cake portion let alone asking for another slice! Overall great time, atmosphere and location. read more

When the Mrs. spotted this place she noticed the dining area on the front porch. With a beautiful spring day upon us we stopped and are on the porch. Got there before he evening rush so we secured a spot overlooking Broad St. Nice views but once traffic came by it was a little noisy The ownership can't do anything about the traffic so let's talk about what they can control: the food and the service Neither of these were a disappointment. In fact u had the Salmon and it was unbelievable. Well prepared, amazing presentation, not too little to eat not a whole lot to eat. It was the right size portion and was a splendid meal. On to the service. Quite professional. Our waiter (can't remember his name) was very friendly and prompt. He didn't have any specials that night but yet later on we heard another server talk about the evenings specials. Don't know what happened there but who cares the meal we had was stunning. read more

The Delmonico Room recently re-opened for evening formal dining in recent months thanks to the return of Chef Michael. It's reservations required, and definitely a formal, quietish atmosphere great for special and/or romantic occasions, especially with the crooning music they play (Sinatra, King-Cole, etc) and the food brings the Hotel Fauchere back to it's original historical roots celebrating the dishes that Chef Louis Fauchere was known to create. In dining with my daughter we had the Amuse-Bouche which was a heirloom tomato with Anise Hyssop; appetizers she had the Carrot Sunflower Hummus with Easter Egg Radishes and Kale Crisp while I had the Foie Gras with Huckleberries, Roasted Radishes served on a butter toasted brioche bread (the Foie Gras was absolutely amazing and perfect...). For second course (Pasta dish) we shared an order of the Smoked Ricotta Agnolotti with Romanesco Zucchini, Garlic Scape puree, Villa Mandori Balsamic Vinegar, and Lardo which was a light second course full of flavor. NOTE: The menu was created by Course, and is a four course meal (appetizer, pasta, entree, dessert) so don't be afraid! Go for it - you won't be disappointed and the wait staff is more than accommodating if you wish to split the pasta course in two portions. Entrees, my daughter had the Long Island Duck Breast with Fairytale Eggplants (grilled), Grilled Peach puree, and Mustard Greens. The Duck was seasoned perfectly, the skin crispy and was a nice interseasonal dish. I had the 16 ounce Dry Aged Delmonico Steak with the blistered Summer Beans, Delmonico Potato. It's an expensive entree, but considering that Chef Fauchere was a Chef at the infamous Delmonico restaurant, eating in the Delmonico Room, it seemed appropriate and did not disappoint. The dry aging upped the flavor and tenderness and the potatoes in an adorable mini cast iron 'pot'. Dessert - went old school and got the Three Cheese Plate. Wonderful ending to a perfect dinner.. Cow was Spout Creek "Margie" and along the lines of a brie and creamy texture, with the honey served as the side with the Marcona Almonds, it's divine. Sheep was Old Chatham "Ewe's Blue" which is a blue cheese (from Sheep's milk?! whuuaaaaat?!) and was sharp, semi-firm and not overbearing. The Goat milk cheese was Ski Queen "Gjetost" which is a must try as the milk is caramelized before the whey is pressed and processed into a cheese and literally is a caramel cheese. Service: The Delmonico Room for formal dinner service is staffed with a Floor Manager who can assist with more detailed questions about cocktails and wines, a head waitress, an assistant waitress and a runner/bus boy. Everyone is polite, attentive with a sincere demeanor (with a bit of that Milford personal touch to it as well) and if you need anything, they will be more than happy to assist and accommodate to the best of their ability showing they do in fact have formal dining service skills which is not commonly found these days, especially in small towns making the Delmonico Room even that much more special and unique. Executive Chef Michael Glatz and Chef de Cuisine Brandon Grimila, know and have tremendous passion of what they're doing.. and it shows. They're using local grown and raised items from the Delaware Valley region as well as bringing the Hotel, in all it's dining back to its historical integrity. The menu, as I understand, varies slightly on a regular/weekly basis with what is available and in season, hence the need for reservations to best prepare the best dishes possible without compromising quality, freshness and flavor. Hopefully this fine dining aspect will catch on as it's too good to be overlooked, as mostly people do the more casual dining on the porch for lunch or breakfast. It's now time to add formal dining to that agenda, hence this review. read more

You'll get hard boiled eggs on leather-like bacon chips on some sort of English Muffin that has the texture of something just unfrozen from the ice age. Service and ambience is great, food is horrible. Started with Brussel sprout salad, dressing was thick and honestly smelled. I eat Brussels at least once or twice a week (and consider them my favorite veggies) so this was particularly disappointing for me. Splitting the plate with my partner we were unable to eat past the first bite. Taro chips were redeeming, though they were served cold not fresh. We had the half chicken as our entree, the chicken itself was actually good BUT the vegetables were cold and the potatoes were so raw that you couldn't cut through them with a knife. All in all it was one of those meals that you regret eating when you get the $150 bill at the end... especially given that half of it was inedible (and that was split between two people). read more

We stopped here for brunch one Sunday. When we entered the door of the hotel, there was a hostess stand, but no one was there. I thought the restaurant was closed, but my wife tracked down a maintenance man, who found someone to seat us. I have never had that experience before. The restaurant itself was empty. When we came in there was only one other party of 4 eating.My wife had crab eggs Benedict which was a very generous portion and according to her, very good. I had the carrot and ricotta pancakes which were disappointing. First of all, they were burned,which to me is something that should never happen. You should never serve any food in any restaurant that is burned. I was so hungry that I did not return them. I ate around the burned portions. I barely tasted the ricotta in the pancakes also. We were not impressed with this restaurant and will not return, and cannot recommend it. Serving burned food is either careless or lazy or both. read more

I'm sorry the other reviewer had some bad experiences here, but ours was very different. Perhaps he goes on a Tuesday when the place is empty, and he really should have done the tasting menu. The decor here is simple but elegant. There were two other tables with customers while we were here, and the noise level was perfect, not too loud or soft. First, our server, a 30-something man from Denmark, was extremely knowledgeable about the wine, the food, and was very professional. The wine list was so extraordinarily impressive and inexpensive, I would come back just to dive into it a bit more. We had a 1996 red Burgundy for a price that you can't even get at a retail wine shop. Well, you can't even FIND a 1996 Burgundy at all! We also had a Gruner Veltliner that complimented 2 dishes in an outstanding way. We had the 6-course tasting menu, and each dish was inventive and cooked to perfection. Highlights included the asparagus soup with foam on top and smoked asparagus spears on the side, and also the lamb done 2 ways, one of which was carpaccio. My two complaints were the price of the tasting menu itself (not the wine) and the service was not as attentive as it could have been because our waiter was the only one, except when the food came, he borrowed staff from the downstairs bar to serve all 6 of us at the same time. This is the challenge of a small Relais & Chateau, but they can do better. read more

Excellent and unexpected restaurant in Milford... The appetizers were the highlight - the cheese plate is perfectly paired with homemade garlic jelly and plum jam. Really a must-try appetizer. We also had radishes with butter and great salt - nice, fresh taste. Entrees were good, but not great. Calves liver was cooked well but smoked bacon on top was unnecessary and the tastes clashed a bit. Green kale gnudi were a little bland to my taste (although they were perfectly cooked.) The staff was very friendly and attentive, without being in our face. Overall, highly recommend this place for any Milford visitors! read more

A gem! A true genteel, historical Norman Rockwell experience with over 150 years of history and an enduring national reputation for its fine dining and lovely Inn. I dined in the same rooms as FDR, JFK, Mae West, Charlie Chapin, Rudolph Valentino, Ogden Nash, Kurt Vonnegut, Andrew Carnegie, Cecil B. DeMille, Bill Clinton, Gloria Steinem, and many others! The Hotel has two restaurants - Delmonico Room and Bar Louis. I had breakfast at Delmonico, and dinner at Bar Louis, which was also excellent, and I reviewed in their section. The fresh breakfast was almost entirely locally sourced. Homemade yoghurt and granola, fresh baked pastry, local eggs, fresh pressed grapefruit. Again, excellent food and service. I will definitely be making the drive back! I especially recommend it for a romantic escape from city life. read more

We visited the restaurant on July 4th for lunch. Starting out with positive remarks: Food was great (sushi pizza and burger), good drinks, beautiful day on the porch in downtown Milford, nice server. The negative: we waited for 20 minutes for our drink order to be served, our entrees came out before our appetizer. Two other guests walked out because their drink order took too long to be served. Another woman never got her refill and left without it. The fault is squarely on the manager. One woman was running the entire porch service. Occasionally there was help from someone who I think might have been the bartender. Our server truly did her best. Also, kudos to them for taking our appetizer off our bill and giving it to us anyway. This is a great place that we love ---it was just a weird day there. My husband and I attended this place with high hopes to have a remarkable anniversary dinner. While the ambiance was very pleasant, that was the only positive thing we could say. Our appetizers (salmon tartine and soup) showed up 1 hr 10 minutes after we placed an order. Our waiter Jack never bothered to stop by to explain the reason for the delay. My tartine was 1 inch thick and 7 inches long slab of sourdough bread with butter on it and 3 thin salmon slices, needless to say not toasted. After waiting for another 10 minutes for our plates to be collected, we decided not to wait for the entrees, to ask for a check and leave. Our waiter brought the check and said "I hope everything was fine." Highly disappointing. read more

We loved this place! We just visited the area not knowing where to go and we stumbled upon this beautiful historical place. It looked so fancy so we inquired if we were under dressed but the host assured us it is casual and to go downstairs into the bar/restaurant. We first sat at the bar, studying the 30+ pages of wine/beer/drinks which on the first page describes why they pride themselves on bio-dynamic and organic way of life ( I LOVE THAT). I had a great drink with vodka homemade jam and beer. It was amazing! . Then we sat down to eat and had a fairly priced bottle of organic wine with a cheese plate of local cheeses ($15), it was amazing! For appetizers we also had a roasted beet with goat cheese ($9) and a baby green salad with a sherry dressing ($9). For an entree I had the free range chicken ($26) with a cold quinoa and summer squash. It was incredible and juicy, I savored every bite! My boyfriend had a sirloin($26) cooked perfectly to his liking, rare, with amazing thick cut fries. The setting was intimate and all the staff was friendly and attentive. This place is in located in the Hotel Frauchere. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. I find it busy everytime i visit. The food at the restaurant is ok, the food needs a bit of work. The fries were greasy and soggy, the eglish muffin to my eggs benedict was stale and clearly had been toasted, left to cool down, then microwaved so it came out not just stale but also impossivle to cut w a knife. I had to remove the english to continue to eat the rest of it. The hash browns were good and so were the pickled deviled eggs. Also the bread to the burger was stale as well. This surprises me as they have a pasterrie directly next door where they could potentialy supply the hotel's bread. I give the extra star for the beautiful hotel and decor... And after wondering around the grounds, we came across photos of celebrities/presidents/entertainers who have visited the hotel. Pretty cool! read more

We had high hopes for this place when we were walking by after a visit to Grey Towers. But sadly we were pretty disappointed. My chicken sandwich was tasty but my husband's burger was over cooked. I also originally wanted their croquet monsieur but they were all out of it and that was super disappointing because the waiter waited until I ordered it to let me know; a heads up when we were seated with the menus would have been nice). Also, we ordered a couple of beers as well and the waiter brought a completely different beer for my husband because they were out of the one he ordered. The waiter had already opened the bottle so my husband felt like he couldn't refuse it. We also ordered truffle fries which never came. In addition we waited quite some time before getting served and then a very long time before actually getting our food. (we were starving after all that walking around Grey Towers!). I understand they were busy given they were getting ready to host a wedding there at the same time; however, proper planning should have been factored in. read more

I started coming to the hotel for meals several years ago when I stopped by myself, on a whim, and had a great lunch. Since then, I have brought my family and friends here time and again for their brunch, and a few dinners; and have recommended this place to many people. If I had to rate the restaurant on those other occasions, they would be all 4 stars for the atmosphere, food and service. However today's brunch service was a little disappointing. My wife and I arrived around 12 for brunch and were seated immediately on the porch. The jazz band was playing, and they were very good. We ordered promptly; my wife asked for scrambled eggs, grits and sausage, and an iced tea, I had the turkey burger with American cheese, fries with Parmesan, a side salad and a beer. The beer was a Shawnee Pilsner. Very good. The food took awhile, but that was to be expected, since it was cooked to order; besides, it was great just to sit on the porch, listen to the music and take in a beautiful early Sunday afternoon. My wife's plate came out with Sunny Side Up Eggs instead of scrambled, so we had to send it back. The burger came out and it was good. Very flavorful and juicy. The roll was perfect. The fries were good, but could have used a little more cheese. Unfortunately, everything was just luke-warm, which means outside, in just a few minutes the food turned cold as I tried to wait for the other order to catch up. My wife's eggs came out several more minutes later. The eggs were hot, but the grits and sausage were cold. Obviously, no one thought to keep the plate warm while the replacement eggs were cooking. Usually, my wife enjoys the grits, but this time she noted that they were a little dry and tasteless; maybe because they were cold. The iced tea, by the way, was pretty good. All of this might be acceptable at a second rate diner; but here, expectations (and prices) are higher, and quality food and service are paramount. We will give this place another try, since we like it so much, but we nowlive in Passaic County, NJ, so the next meal here had better be worth the trip. read more

Had a dinner reservation Saturday evening at 6:30pm for four people.. We arrived on time. We were cordially greeted by he maitre d' and introduced to two charming young wait staff who were apprenticing for the summer. We were the only 4 people in the restaurant. We were promptly given menus to study . After about 5 minutes of being ignored, we got someone's attention and asked them if we could order drinks before dinner. We ordered our drinks and and immediately ordered our meals. After another 20 minutes or so, we ordered a second round of drinks and asked if we could have some bread. ( it was delicious!). About 30 minutes later, I suggested that an hour seemed an inordinate time to wait for our appetizers to come. The staff agreed, and we did see our appetizers a few minutes later. ( All were tasty.) After another 25 or 30 minutes our main courses were served- (room temperature and overcooked on the steak entre's) and finally dessert. We were not in any hurry, but spending 3 hours over dinner - with a total of 6 customers in the restaurant ( Did I mention that another couple arrived somewhere about hour 1 into our marathon?), seems excessive. ps. Completely amazing, this lovely restaurant was where we went when my husband and I got married. We (and friends) had a beautiful tasting menu pared with lovely wines. The servers were so attentive and professional. The chef served seasonal dishes that were not only delicious but served with a theme and explanation. The atmosphere was elegant and classy. My husband wanted a special dessert made that was not on the menu. We called a few weeks before, and the restaurant owners went above and beyond to make our dessert, and our day, extra special. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Delmonico Room this year and it was the most disappointing meal we have had this year. The prefix meal price of $65 consisted of all cold courses, under cooked and cold string beans topped with prosciutto fat and an entree that would not have feed a small child. My wife's plate of turkey and stuffing could have fit in a Gerber baby food jar. We both received 2 little nuggets of turkey the size of small walnuts sitting on a slice of stuffing you could have read a book through. The chief then drizzled some gravy and cranberry juice on the plate. Don't waste your money on this establishment there are better places to eat in the area including the local diner. When we mentioned how disappointed we were with the meal the only response we got was "I'm sorry you were disappointed". I know we were not the only diners who were based on the conversation taking place at the next table. Run, don't walk away from this restaurant if you are considering eating there. read more
