    Steak frites, schnitzel and spatzle

Great addition to Narrowsburg. Booked ahead for Saturday night and had a great dinner here. I requested deck seating ahead of time and it was gorgeous once the sun started going down! I tried: + Drunken boat cocktail + Morning high cocktail + endive salad + la petite France flatbread + Norma spatzle + Pork schnitzel + steak frites + Escargot + Lemon tart The escargot and lemon tart were my favorite bites. Pork schnitzel was also a standout, along with the Norma spatzle (though the spatzle needed to be a little bit hotter). The drunken boat was the better of the two cocktails. Overall I'd return. 4.5 stars.

Wow. An Alsatian quintessential French Bistro in Narrowsburg! Alsace, a region in northeastern France bordering Germany and Switzerland, is very much influenced by it's neighbors while having its own unmistakable culinary culture. La Cigogne is incredibly authentic, both with food and wine selection, staying true to the region. Service was bar none; attentive, and truly caring. Drinks were amazing, including classics like the "last word" and a few others involving chartreuse. Ambiance speaks for itself.

We had a beautiful dinner with friends at La Cigogne on Saturday night! Darnell was great at suggesting items on the menu that fit our taste buds. We loved the decor and the vibe with live music. The onion soup was perfect! My husband and our friend loved the escargot and tuna tartar. I got the thick cut porkchop special which was perfectly cooked! Definitely try the flat bread as well. Dessert was lovely. We will definitely be back next time we are in Narrowsburg!

Duck confit salad was excellent (I subbed mixed greens for arugula)

We had an early dinner reservation on a Saturday and it was lively and packed. Gorgeous space with views of the river. I had the duck confit salad, which was excellent (they let me sub mixed greens for the arugula). Service was excellent.

From the food to the atmosphere to the staff, everything here was flawless! Spaetzle is perfectly made with perfect flavors.

Avocado Toast with overcooked eggs and dry toast

Went for brunch with a friend and we will not be returning. Shared avocado toast and a croque monsieur. The eggs on the avocado toast were overcooked vs soft boiled, the toast was dry, and the mashed avocado was unseasoned. The croque monsieur had some kind of topping that could had been gruyère cheese with a faux béchamel sauce, but it was so heavily seasoned with nutmeg, who could tell? Though the lake river view is stunning, it did not make up for the subpar cuisine or consistent flies during our brunch.

    Endive salad

Sadly I'm giving it a 2 for the ambience and service. The food is AWFUL. Also, nothing about this menu screams French restaurant at all. My endive salad was terrible as you can see by the photo. The other thing I ordered, tuna tartare was good but it came w/avocado and wontons. I'm sorry but French food it is not. Overall this is not a good restaurant, especially for the price point. Hey if you want me to make you salads and create an actual French menu I could do a far better job than whomever you have in the kitchen there because good god it is awful.

First time stopping by but we will definitely be back. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary so we decided last minute to stop by. He had the schnitzel & I had the steak frites. Great portions, great flavor & fabulous service. Our server was attentive but not over bearing, kind and generous with suggestions. I think his name started with a D (I'm sorry if you see this I suck with names)! Ambiance is nice and chill but with a touch of nyc. Love love love

One orders at the counter, however, the dishes are brought to the table. The cashier was also the server, but I thought perhaps she was also the co-owner. [I didn't ask her for the story, but when I asked about the Vivian Gray Lotus and Rose soap in the bathroom, she said she had bought like a case of the German soap when she saw it on sale. (I'm super jealous because the soap is absolutely divine smelling - and rose is one of my favorite scents.)] Hubby started out with the French onion soup. He was in love. The good thing was I didn't taste any alcohol in it (which is good because not only are we teetotalers, but we can't cook with alcohol, either), but I thought the broth was fairly one dimensional, not too far above just bouillon. The onions were not sufficiently caramelized, either, in my opinion. (I make good French onion soup - and so I expect a chef's version of it to be better than mine.) Hubby liked that the cheese was wrapped around the piece of baguette floating on top. He then had the [Norwegian?] salmon on a bagel, which had quite a few capers on top. Again, he was in love - salmon, bagel, cream cheese, what's not to? I, too, thought it was a wonderful dish. I had ratatouille, which contained kalamatas. I've never heard of olives in ratatouille, but it was quite delicious as well, albeit a bit oily. The presentation was very nice as well. The eggplant was so tender it was almost melted, and the tomatoes, onions, etc. were nicely seasoned and was very enjoyable. I used baguette pieces to eat most of the dish up with. The dish is piping hot and, as the server warned, there may or may not be pits in the olives (there were none in mine), so beware! There is no tap water served and, according to a local, this is a good thing since, again according to her, Honesdale has the US's 4th worst tapwater in the nation. So we chose San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa (hubby) and a nice Sarasota sparkling (which may or may not be bottled right there in Pennsylvania). For dessert (to go; we were too full!), hubby got a delightful almond cake of some sort; I did not have the presence of mind to snap a photo of it before he devoured it (after we got home). He was generous, however, and gave me a bite - and it was so delightful and creamy and almondy. A few days later, I finally ate the cranberry muffin - and absolute perfection. Moist, wonderful, fresh cranberries. And despite the fresh cranberries, especially those on top, not one bitter one to be found. What's wonderful, too, are the prices. So, so, so, and did I say so reasonable?!?!? A delightful, charming place and, God willing, we will be able to go more frequently.
