It was my first time at La Cigogne, or even any restaurant t in Narrowsburg for that matter. Wow! I love it here. What a cute little town and La Cigogne has all the things that make for a great dining experience. Serena was our server and was super helpful and attentive. The menu was loaded with so many great items...I will need to go back for more. We were a party of 3 and the whole restaurant was vibing as the World Cup was on the big screen TVs in the background. There are several big screen TVs around the restaurant and it was cool we could keep on top of the score. The mussels and the scrumptious broth it came with was very good and just a bit spicy. I had the chicken fricassee as my entree and my friends also had the duck special, which they loved. We also had a very nice fruit sorbet that looked and tasted very impressive. There's also a great view outside on the veranda of a beautiful lake. Glad we stayed inside that night. Not only was it super hot outside but it poured during dinner and we stayed nice and dry. Maybe next time. I'd high recommend La Cigogne if you're looking for a great dining experience in Narrowsburg. read more

Located in the quaint downtown of Narrowsburg, NY sits La Cigogne, a French-Alsacian restaurant by Damien Gray. Formerly located in Brooklyn, Damien brought the concept to Narrowsburg a couple of years ago. I've eaten here several times. Located in the basement level of 90 Main St in Narrowsburg, it arguably has some of the best views of the Big Eddy and Delaware River of any spot in Narrowsburg. When the weather is nice, an outdoor deck offers commanding views. Inside, the decor is a bit industrial with a nod to the Alsacian mountains. The space is all hard surfaces, primarily concrete, making it a very bright room from a sound standpoint. For this meal we sat that the bar by choice. Service was reasonably prompt and friendly. No specials were mentioned, and no substitutions or menu changes. I ordered the Pork schnitzel, my dining companion one of the spaetzle dishes. We started with tuna tartare. The tuna came out in a nice presentation which included an extra heavy "schmear" of avocado on top. The dish overall was so incredibly oversalted that it bordered on being unpleasant. The house made tortilla chips which were light and delicate, but again, so over salted they were bordering on inedible. The schnitzel came out and had been pounded out absolutely paper thin, and the breading was very dark brown. The side salad was mixed field greens instead of the stated arugula on the menu (no mention of a substitution). The Schnitzel was overcooked and, frankly, as dry as cardboard. Seemed like they are using a smaller pork portion and pounding it super thin to make it fit the plate to their spec. It also wasn't seasoned. At all. My dining companion's spaetzle was over cooked and mushy - almost disintegrating in the mouth. It's unfortunate because that dish looked incredibly promising on the menu. We added the asparagus appetizer (an odd appetizer offering, and not offered as a side dish), and it was good, cooked well, but again no seasoning. I added the leek mashed potatoes as my side. Again the theme of little to no seasoning raised it's head. The potatoes were cooked well, and the leek came through quite delicately, so it's unfortunate the kitchen didn't follow through. Overall - a lovely setting with fantastic views, and a great place for a glass of wine or a cocktail watching the sun set over the Delaware River. As a dinner destination, our latest experience is unfortunately consistent with past visits - a menu that promises great, somewhat simple dishes that fall flat on execution. read more

I enjoyed my experience at La Cigogne. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The setting is great! Pretty, modern, and nice views of the Delaware River below. The food was very good. Solid. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. I had a short rib bolognese dish... it had house made egg noodles in it. The sauce was so so excellent and the beef was superb. I found the egg pasta a bit starchy, maybe overcooked? My husband had the steak frites. It came out undercooked and without his requested sauce accompaniment. The server was extremely polite and expedient about correcting the dish and he did enjoy it. The fries were delicious and the sauce really made the dish shine. (I think he got the herbed garlic butter). I enjoyed my old fashioned cocktail and my wine was delicious. Overall a very nice experience and we will be going back. read more

Had a very nice experience here visiting with some friends. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We had drinks by the fireplace (during the winter) before being seated for dinner. The restaurant is right on the river so the views were amazing. For dinner we had the steak frites, Bourgogne spatzle, and traditional thin crust flatbread. The stead was excellent, but cooked a little under what I requested, not complaining, just giving a heads up. The spatzle was spot on. The flatbread was a little underwhelming for me. The bacon was under for my liking and lacked some flavor. The drinks were amazing and I would definitely go back. read more

Great addition to Narrowsburg. Booked ahead for Saturday night and had a great dinner here. I requested deck seating ahead of time and it was gorgeous once the sun started going down! I tried: + Drunken boat cocktail + Morning high cocktail + endive salad + la petite France flatbread + Norma spatzle + Pork schnitzel + steak frites + Escargot + Lemon tart The escargot and lemon tart were my favorite bites. Pork schnitzel was also a standout, along with the Norma spatzle (though the spatzle needed to be a little bit hotter). The drunken boat was the better of the two cocktails. Wow. An Alsatian quintessential French Bistro in Narrowsburg! Alsace, a region in northeastern France bordering Germany and Switzerland, is very much influenced by it's neighbors while having its own unmistakable culinary culture. La Cigogne is incredibly authentic, both with food and wine selection, staying true to the region. Service was bar none; attentive, and truly caring. We had a beautiful dinner with friends at La Cigogne on Saturday night! Darnell was great at suggesting items on the menu that fit our taste buds. We loved the decor and the vibe with live music. The onion soup was perfect! My husband and our friend loved the escargot and tuna tartar. I got the thick cut porkchop special which was perfectly cooked! Definitely try the flat bread as well. I do not recommend La Cigogne. The food is subpar, lacking taste and any level of sophistication. The appetizers were utterly underwhelming. My duck was so tough that a steak knife didn't even work. Service was not interested in our table. We had ordered an appetizer but it never came. We were never asked if we needed anything. The sorbet desert was completely melted. The ambiance for dinner was lovely and our server, Joanna, was terrific. The tuna tartare was flavorful, though the accompanying wonton chips were extremely salty. The mushroom rillettes were good but underwhelming--served with a single slice of barely toasted rye bread, which didn't feel very French. Our salmon filet, served with roasted potatoes, had great flavor--but was raw inside. While I appreciate wild raw Ahi tuna, I dont appreciate raw farmed salmon. We sent it back and appreciated that they brought out a new filet, except it was even less cooked than the first. Thankfully, the third try was perfect, with just a bit more cooking. Overall, we enjoyed our evening, but there are still a few kinks for the kitchen to work out. read more

We had a lovely early dinner at La Cigogne, which was recommended by our host at the Inn at Tyler Hill. We are vegan, and so ordered the mushroom rillettes, and the white bean and veggie cassoulet. So yummy. I am going to try and recreate both dishes at home. We also ordered the Cote Du Rhone, which was lovely. The service was spot on, and the ambiance could not be better, with a sweeping view of the (frozen!) Delaware River. read more

Went for brunch with a friend and we will not be returning. Shared avocado toast and a croque monsieur. The eggs on the avocado toast were overcooked vs soft boiled, the toast was dry, and the mashed avocado was unseasoned. The croque monsieur had some kind of topping that could had been gruyère cheese with a faux béchamel sauce, but it was so heavily seasoned with nutmeg, who could tell? Though the lake river view is stunning, it did not make up for the subpar cuisine or consistent flies during our brunch. read more

Came here with some family for dinner during the 4th of July week. The staff was overall incredible about getting us our table early and juggling our multiple requests. The space is beautiful, with views of the river that are especially stunning at sunset. The wine we got was great, but all the entrees missed the mark. The salmon entree tasted incredibly fishy and was honestly hard to finish. The ratatouille lacked a lot of flavor but was cooked well. I overall loved the ambiance and the service, but I would not return for the food. read more

Sadly I'm giving it a 2 for the ambience and service. The food is AWFUL. Also, nothing about this menu screams French restaurant at all. My endive salad was terrible as you can see by the photo. The other thing I ordered, tuna tartare was good but it came w/avocado and wontons. I'm sorry but French food it is not. Overall this is not a good restaurant, especially for the price point. We tried La Cigogne last night for the first time and already can't wait to return. Heads up, it's a little difficult to find at first. When on Main st, you walk into the main building of the Shops of Narrowsburg and head downstairs. When you walk in, they have an entire wall of windows with the best view of the Delaware. The ambiance is classy but not stuffy. Very warm and welcoming. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were both extremely friendly and nice to chat with. We had the large tuna tartar, escargot and the burger. All were exceptional. The tuna tartar was a large portion and very fresh. My husband says he could eat the escargot daily it was so flavorful and delicious. The burger meat was juicy, seasoned perfectly and the pretzel bun was a nice treat. Great wine selection and definitely saving room for dessert next time. This place is such a great addition to Narrowsburg and cannot wait to try everything on the menu! Five stars! read more

Can't beat the view and ambiance!! Food was fabulous. Totally recommend the beet tartare and onion soup. We also had the melt in your mouth braised chicken and flatbread. We called earlier in the day for a 6:00 reservation for two and were told that the restaurant is fully booked but, hold on, I might be able to find you a table. After a few seconds she said yes, if we don't mind sitting out on the deck. I agreed and made the reservation. Upon arrival we found the restaurant to be 90% EMPTY. I thought maybe the people who these tables were for haven't shown up yet. Well, by the time we finished our meal and left an hour later, the restaurant was only about 40% full. Is this a trend by these Narrowsburg restaurants? Because I've noticed this happening at two other restaurants here who shall remain nameless. There are empty tables clearly visible while walk ins are told they are fully booked with an hour wait. One other thing I'd like to point out to help, not hurt, this restaurant is that the escargot, burger and fries were super salty. This is something they can fix if they wanted to. Hope they do because I want them to succeed and I will be back because the view is awesome, the decor is beautiful and the staff is friendly and nice. The salt however needs to stay in the shaker. read more

Major points for service and ambiance. The brunch menu was varied and filling. The eggs Benedict was unique in its presentation, hollandaise sauce and its flavorful bacon. La Cignone is a new kid on the block in Narrowsburg, N.Y. and worth the trip. Narrowsburg is growing and La Cigogne is one of several new foundational pieces. Fourth time trying. Heard it was better. Both mine and my husband's food came out cold! My expensive steak was cut in small pieces. I had to ask for my appetizer three time's it came out after my main course. I've never written a bad review about a restaurant and we eat out a lot. But this was beyond belief. For dinner I had the Coq Au Vin and my wife and I split the Mac and Cheese app. Both were next level food experiences! So good, I forgot to get pics!!!
