Erratic hours. "Open" flag is seen waving outside even when they are closed. Hard to predict when they'll be open.

Great sandwiches, my favorite is the grilled Ruben. You might want to phone your order on, as they can get quote busy.

Great food, service, prices and people! Boar's Head deli products are the best. A must stop place for breakfast and lunch.

We ordered over the phone and weren't told, and there's no clear signage when you walk in. You only find out when it's time to pay. In 2025, in New Jersey, that's a frustrating surprise--especially when you can also order through DoorDash. It just doesn't make sense. As for the food, we ordered a couple of Italian subs and a BLT with extra bacon. The Italians had soggy lettuce and maybe two slices of lunch meat--not what you'd expect from a deli. The BLT, despite asking for extra bacon, came with just two strips. Overall, everything was mediocre at best. I appreciate small businesses and want to see them thrive, but between the lack of communication and underwhelming food, it's hard to recommend without some improvements. We're back next week to finish a job and will try again, maybe they had they had the rookies in there today.

Tiny little spot with barely enough room to think haha, but a huge menu and really friendly employees. Decided to go with "The Super" and "The Shack Special" The super is their version of an Italian. Got it dressed with LTO, oil and vinegar, and oregano. The roll was softer than I normally like for an Italian but it was very fresh and still held together nicely. I didn't eat half of this til just now (maybe 4 hours later) and it still wasn't a sloppy mess. The Shack Special was Roast beef, Turkey breast, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing. These communists and their salad dressing...tastes good on everything. Again the meats were super fresh and the same roll for this one. I grabbed both to take a few bites for a video and I packaged this one up for my gf and I kept the Italian. These are both half sandwiches and they're bigger than most full size subs from anywhere. Cost for both of these total was around $16. No brainer here - Sub Shack - Didn't Suck!

This is definitely the best breakfast Hackettstown has to offer…read more We got eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, and a scone. The scone was incredible! The eggs were poached perfectly on the Benedict. The scrambled eggs unfortunately had so much salt in them they were on the edge of being unpalatable, so next time we will likely ask for no salt to be used. We were really surprised by the amount of salt used. The potato's are delicious- absolutely loved them. The only feedback on the Benedict is to please include way more sauce- there wasn't enough to actually taste it, or have some sauce on every bite, which really feels like the point of eggs Benedict. I'm not sure I'd order it again for that reason, although I want to- they nailed the eggs. Their iced coffee was good, too! The staff was really nice although they did seem very overwhelmed by the number of people they were serving. When we arrived the restaurant was about 3/4 full and we waited about 20 minutes to be seated while the kitchen "got caught up." Not too big of a deal, but definitely unexpected. The restaurant itself is cute, cozy, and clean. We've found it hard to find a good breakfast place in Hackettstown that isn't a diner so all in all we're very happy to have found Stella G's and just hope this little bit of feedback will be heard!

I had to ask for a bag to carry out my sandwich in. Great sandwich though. A review was posted seven months ago regarding their over charging the credit card fee in violation of Visa's agreement. They replied that they would address it. They haven't and it's even worse than the original post indicated. The following is a repost from just yesterday. What's going on with them charging 4% for using a debit card? It's illegal. In the U.S., it is generally illegal for a merchant to add a surcharge (an extra fee) directly to a debit card purchase. This is prohibited by federal law (the Durbin Amendment) and major card networks like Visa and Mastercard. When it is IllegalDebit Card Surcharges: Charging a specific fee just for using a debit card, even if the cashier runs it as a credit transaction.Minimum Purchases: Merchants are not legally allowed to set a minimum spending amount (e.g., a $10 minimum) for debit card purchases.Cash Discounting Misuse: A business cannot charge a fee for debit cards while disguising it as a "credit card fee." Food was good but they shouldn't charge customers a 4% Visa credit card fee which is over the 3% that is permitted by Visa. Seven months ago they said they had to fix their system to allow only a 3% charge on Visa cards as the Visa merchant agreement allows only a 3% maximum. They're still charging 4%. Visa caps merchant surcharges on credit card transactions at 3% (or the merchant's actual cost of processing the transaction, whichever is lower). If your state imposes a lower limit than 3%, you must adhere to that local restriction instead.Key Surcharging Rules & LimitsMaximum Cap: The absolute maximum fee is 3% for Visa credit cards, regardless of whether your actual processing costs are higher.

It was so good, I didn't even bother with dressing. My son had the daily special of chorizo tacos. While they did come on flour tortillas, which are not his favorite, the chorizo itself was absolutely delicious. I normally avoid chorizo because it can be super-spicy, but in this case, it was just beautifully flavored with touches of greens and onions on top. We both got the house-made lemonades to drink. One with mint and ginger, which my son quite liked (it's the one that looks like a green potion in the photos); one with lavender, which I adored. We were also offered toast with three different house sauces to try on it as a complementary appetizer. The decor and ambience is cozy, inviting, and charming. Service was prompt and courteous. Overall, this is a little gem of an eatery in Hackettstown that I can highly recommend.

So yes, by my highly scientific logic, this is also a Mexican spot. The decor definitely leans Mexico, heavy, which its amazing, kept reminding me of my favorite Mexican restaurant. But anyway, we're not here for interior design, we're here to eat. There's a LOT going on here, menu wise and vibe pwise, but in a good way. I ordered the Sandwiches de Miga 'Olímpico' and if you haven't tried them yet, that's a personal failure you can still fix. They're a must. Soft, classic, comforting... except for the edges. The edges were... questionable. Hard/frozen-ish. Not blaming anyone directly, maybe the fridge settings were on "Antarctica," maybe they weren't fully thawed. We'll never know. But that first bite hurt emotionally. It was like ordering a burger without pickles, taking a confident bite, and BOOM! pickle. Suddenly your whole day shifts slightly off center. Service wise: the guy at the counter stared at me, I started my order with zero greeting, felt like human self checkout, and I'm fine with that. Sometimes you don't want conversation, you just want carbs. Despite the frozen edge plot twist, I'm 100% coming back. The food has real potential, the place has character, and I need to try their asado.
