Unfortunately, Courtney and Nick, purchased Stella G's on July 8th from Bruno and Maureen with our Booked Party. They had no experience with Catering and it became quite apparent. Courtney used my Event Sheet for the Event Billing since she was unaware how to Book the Event, set up an event nor run an event. They did not provide Chafing Dishes, 60% of the Contract Food, 4 of the 8 Waitstaff, the 2 Chefs, Condiments, nor enough Food to feed the Guests. They never served the Bridal Party the Hors d' Oeuvres they did bring, only 20% from Contract until I asked some 45 minutes later. Staff rude. Buffet was either burnt or cold and not labeled and cross-contaminated with pork/beef and supposedly crab in one tin and the Staff was too busy on their phones to serve and had no idea what anything was. There was suppose to be 4 stations with a Carving Station and we paid for 2 Chefs, there was not a carving station. I asked Courtney to have the staff start clearing the plates. They did and come to find out that they broke the venue's China & stemware and disposed of their flatware (Courtney refused to compensate the venue this expense.) I spent the entire day either chasing down Courtney asking for something or running from her as she was confused as needed an answer. I am the mother of the bride. They also tortured the Bride and was very rude to her. I contacted Courtney and Nick to discuss this matter via email and phone. Courtney called the bride on her honeymoon 3 times and other guests and my employer instead of me. When I set up an appt to meet with her, she stated she didn't have time to talk to me. She fully believes that everything went wonderfully. Courtney called the bride and me relentlessly to state that additional grats, $1400, was owed to her & her staff until finally the Bride paid them $600 some 5 weeks later to stop the emails & texts. They continued and the Bride finally blocked her. This is just a summary. I've had breakfast there several times. The breakfast menu is large and diverse, with a couple of unique options. Two other members of my party had an egg casserole with mixed vegetables, served in a skillet. I had regular pancakes with a side of bacon. The side portion was very generous and definitely worth the price. I will definitely be returning for breakfast again. I had to knock it down a star due to service and a lack of management. The waiting area is extremely small. It didn't help that there was nobody up front helping to manage the space. Because of the wait, a server walked up and tried to talk us into eating at the bar. I had to say no about five times before she let it go. I guess there could have been reservations, but it appeared that several tables sat open while multiple parties waited to be sat. I am in shock at the quality of this restaurant. Room is cosy. The menu is outstanding, the execution of each item was impeccable. The staff was courteous and efficient. The dishes were seasonal and imaginative. Would have paid double for the lunch I had anywhere in Bergen County or NYC. Totally sensational Pork Belly on Ciabatta with Frisee and Grainy Mustard, side of unique slaw and home made chips. Chicken Pot Pie that was sublime. Egg nog creme brûlée. We will return. I love Stella G's! I rarely get the opportunity to dine in there, but it's one of my favorite take out options for lunch throughout the work week. I always check out the specials because there are always some interesting options, but most of the time I'll stick with my standby: The Chicken Stella G's. So fantastic, and very different from what you'd get anywhere else. However, I wanted to branch out from the norm (but I'm not adventurous enough to check out their gamier winter specials. Just not my style.), so I checked out their other main-menu items. I went with the Chicken and Farro dish, loving the fact that it was even marked as healthy. It was fantastic! When I first saw the take out container it came in, I expected to still be a little hungry after lunch-- I couldn't even finish it! I'm a regular at Stella G's and on any other given day, I would give them 10 stars. But today I was totally disappointed and let down. I brought my son there for a birthday breakfast. I told the server I wanted a silken egg. I explained how it should be, they could add cheese or ricotta to help smooth it out. I said if they can't do it, I would prefer to have one of the brunch items. Well, when the dish arrived, it was scrambled eggs on top of polenta. I told the server this was not what I wanted and was going to send it back. I asked for some marina sauce that would have aided in this dish being palatable for me and I was told they did not have any. I then asked for a cup of soup and asked them to leave the other dish in the meantime. They brought the soup and I was able to have something to eat, however, I was put in a position where I was so hungry, I ate some of the eggs only later to regret it. It was disappointing the server could not have informed me they could not make the silken egg rather than sending me a dish I should not have eaten. Furthermore, they charged me full price for their mistake and did nothing to acknowledge my son's birthday. Ruined my special birthday breakfast with my son. Very disappointed! read more

Augh, hate to write this review but hey, Yelp only works if we are all honest. Went to Stella's for the first/only time today and walked away bummed out. We drove 35 min to check out Stella's as it is highly recommended by a friend. It's Sat, so we expected a wait, but only waited 15 min. Had to sit outside though- (it's LOUD outside). We started with a cherry turnover (10 stars!!!), and scone (4 stars), and then waited forever for our food to come. No coffee/water refills during this time as the waitstaff just didn't come outside to check in on the 2 tables that are there.when the food started to come, 2 of us got our meals and the 3rd got his unbuttered toast. We noted the mint garnish on our 2 meals was blackened and found both plates with hard food- assuming it sat under warmers for awhile? But we didn't try them as we waited for the 3 person to get his food. 2 servers came outta to ask if he got his eggs! Crazy - if they looked they could see that NO he still had no food. By the time he got his food (4 stars for potato pancake) ours was not even warm. His eggs were cold upon serving to our table. They did comp my meal as it was not edible(was one if their signature dishes) I didn't ask them to. Also, we had 3 different people bring food but then no one came back- I gave feedback about the entrees when we finally got the waitress out there for the check- I had to go inside to get her even for the check. All of the service staff are super friendly, And I think judging by the scone/turnover that the food could be really good. But for us, all in all, it was a big serving failure. read more

Our family has always loved Stella G's, been going for years. But today marks the last. Since the change in ownership the last few visits weren't great. Either food had good downhill or the service is slow. Today when we actually ordered our drinks with the person who sat us but then waited over 10 minutes for our waitress. Funny thing is half the place was empty. As usual the waitress/staff just stand around chit chatting and the owner isn't keep an eye on what is happening on the floor. Last Sunday was the rest day of a three-day round-trip bike trip I took between Manhattan and Hackettstown. For lunch I went to Stella G's, with my bike. While I was waiting for a table outside, a waiter suggested I bring my bike in and told me he would move some chairs to make room for it. His hospitality was the beginning of a wonderful meal. My Caesar salad seemed a little shy on dressing, but my waitress cheerfully brought me extra when I asked for it. My hamburger of generous size arrived medium rare, as I had requested, and was delicious. My dessert of grilled-blueberry cheesecake (the blueberries are grilled, not the cheesecake) was the perfect finish to my meal. An extra treat was to meet and have a conversation with Bruno, the owner, who had once been an avid cyclist. I will certainly return to Stella G's the next time I'm in Hackettstown. read more

Worst breakfast ever. There was a piece of hair cooked in our scrambled eggs, we got zero refills, and they switched the food for three of us and didn't know which omelette was which. After getting my hard, small pancakes, we ordered 3 scones. The person running our food was confused, yet again, and tried giving us the wrong scones. I have been hesitant to try this restaurant, even after the wonderful reviews and high recommendations from friends. Upon walking in on a Sunday morning I was greeted by a complete cluster at the door. It was loud and the wait staff seemed to be really stressed out. I should have walked out at that point and went elsewhere. I was seated in about 5 minutes, which certainly wasn't bad but standing in a crowd that had to shift anytime someone walked in or out is not the most relaxing way to start a meal. There was numerous tables available, but they definitely seemed understaffed and couldn't get us sat. I would have liked to sit outside, but who wants to sit on the sidewalk on Main St. in Hackettstown? It took about 5 minutes to walk to our table in the back of the restaurant because people had to shift around so we could get through. There are wayyyy too many tables in here for the size of the space. The breakfast came out FAST, like abnormally fast. Which I actually don't mind, because like I said I couldn't relax anyway. It was so loud in the cluttered restaurant, there were multiple children crying and we were very close to the other tables. My eggs benny was good, definitely good, I would certainly not say anything bad about it. My mom got the stuffed french toast. The only way I could describe it was that it tasted like a country decoration store. The waitress wasn't very friendly, but we were in and out in about 30 minutes total. Thankfully. I am sorry that I don't have many nice things to say, but I just felt as if the whole experience (minus my breakfast) was from an unexperienced, badly run establishment. read more
