I've always had great service & perfectly good food @ this location! The Cheeseburger is cooked exactly like I like 'em....not too thick not too thin....NOT perfectly round to fit the bun.....fresh....just the Right Amount of Veggies. The tiny little skinny fries are Super...not greasy...come in a little cup, that fits perfectly in your car cup holder.....dangerous....but, great idea! Annnnnd last but Not least, the Chocolate & Banana Side By Side Shake....... that makes my day! Steak & Shake is my favorite "Fast Food" Burger place read more

Yeah , 4 stars is a lot for fast food, but really this is for their service, not the meal. Steak & Shake is one step up from fast food only because you are seated, and get a waitress. Otherwise prices & food are the same as BK or Culver's. Their fries are terrific if you like the thin crispy sort (like McDs frex). I usually prefer ranch fries, or crinkle-cut, but a change of pace is good too. I ordered a diet coke & a $5.49 jalapeño crunch burger w/fries. Next followed a comedy of errors, all in my favor. First they brought a chicken sandwich instead of the burger. It was still jalapeño crunch - just the wrong meat. While I like most ways of serving bird, i am bitterly opposed to chicken sandwiches. The staff brought a new, hot burger while I munched on the fries. But when the burger came , it was with an all-new set of fries! I couldn't even finish them! Waitress asked if I wanted a refill on my soda. I said no but lo and behold another soda appeared anyway (they have free refills - i just wasn't that thirsty). Then when i went to pay, the manager took my drink's tab (a princely $1.79) off for the "trouble" I'd had?! In summary really good service, and food at the upper end of the fast food spectrum give it the 4 stars. I will say i have never liked their breakfasts. But with Waffle House & IHOP next door , who cares. read more

We went to Steak & Shake to get a shake! It's sort of sad that you have to ask for "real ice-cream" in your shake if you want it made that way. Anyways, the flavor selection was large and the shakes were actually delicious. I will say that this place knows how to make a fine Milkshake, so please do not hesitate to order one from them if that's what you want. My wife's order was actually wrong, which is another bummer, but it tasted so good she didn't care anyways. I think that should speak pretty strongly about the quality of the milkshakes here. All in all, I will be back by when I need a delicious shake, but I think I will continue to skip eating any food here. read more

I had never entered this fast food restaurant, but today I was curious to enter, it is a nice place, but it has horrible service, it took me approximately 20 minutes to give me food and I waited another 30 minutes to have a couple of milk shakes. The waitress never gave me my milk shakes, when I was going to pay, they were charging me for something I never received read more

If I could I've them less than a star I would. I've been there 2 times recently and have had bad, slow service (not during busy times) This last time we went we waited almost an hour for the waitress to come back and tell us that our order never made it to the kitchen and we'd need to reorder. Needless to say, we left and I'm never going back to this location. Sad because I love Steak n' Shake... This place is slow, incredibly dirty, and seems like no one cares. read more

DISGUSTING Horrible i mean FUCKING SLOW AS SHIT SERVICE Burgers were nasty fries were old ass fuck sweet tea sucked ass The service was not rude to me although another customer complained and said they were I was in the drive thru by the way If I was the owner I would be ashamed I thought rockwall restaurants had class apparently not felt like a nasty slum experience read more

Horrible service!! Took 15 minutes to get to the window. I was thinking that the cars in front of me must have had a lot to order. No I was wrong!!! I ordered two burgers. You would think the burgers would be waiting on me and my wife. NO!! After 15 more minutes at the window with no one telling me about why it's taking so long, I decide to knock on the glass to get a little service. I told the girl if I can't get my food in 30 sec I would like my money back. Guess what? I wasted 30 minutes at Steak 'n Shake and received nothing!!! Place should have a better process in place and realize they are hurting the brand of this company read more

I'm very careful to make negative reviews. However, unless they get ahold of this store and get good cooks, it will continue to be avoided by locals. We continue to try this location. In years past they had one of the best quick breakfasts in town. Not now. We sent back everything, and ordered new items and they were barely edible. I tried to speak with the folks making things happen, but they did not really listen. Let's get this location back on track, and I'll be happy to update this review. read more

Love steak 'n shake! Went through the drive thru and it took a while- but only because they made everything fresh!!!!! Love the employees there, so patient and helpful. Favorite Steak 'n Shake EVER!!! read more

If you're looking for some quick burgers and fries, don't go here. Expect your food, regardless of how busy it is, to take at least thirty minutes. The staff is not efficient, everything, from getting seated to getting your bill, takes too much time. The food is average. But the milk shakes are excellent. read more

Just left the drive-thru and the lady on the intercom who happened to be the same person taking our money at the window was so rude. We actually said thank you to her and she said nothing and slammed the window. Shouldn't it be the other way around. Not returning. Horrible customer service. read more

I like steak n' shake overall but this location has poor service poor management and often gets orders wrong not seeming to care. Too many bad experiences to list one. Other friends have had the same problem as well read more

We have just left the one in Rockwall. We will not be back. I ordered the peppermint milkshake. I got a strawberry milkshake with a few crushed peppermint pieces on top of the whipped cream. My granddaughter order the birthday cake milkshake. She got a vanilla milkshake with some sprinkles on the whipped cream. She ordered the chicken fingers. Two were so hard she couldn't eat them. She was able to eat 3 out of the 5 so we didn't send them back. She did say the French fries were good. My daughter ordered the steak hot dog. She had to return it because it was so salty she could not eat it. She got her money back on that one. I ordered the chili 5ways. I returned it and got my money back. The beans were so dried out they were inedible. We will not be back. After we left there, we went to another restaurant where we were able to actually eat the food. My advice if you are thinking of eating here-----DONT!!!! read more

Terrible service. I mean, TERRIBLE. Dirty, dirty, dirty. Seriously, who is running this thing?!? First time at a steak and shake and my god. Will NEVER return. Rude careless staff all talking and messing around, meanwhile I'm waiting 25 minutes for my food.... at the drive thru!! Went inside before this experience and i told myself I'd never go back then. Gave it another chance, and man what a waist of money. read more

Ordered the Jalepeno burger and the BBQ burger with fries at 5:29pm and received the order at 6:01pm It took 32 minutes to receive lukewarm burgers and room temperature fries. Taste of the burgers was just ok but the fries were pretty much inedible being that they were almost cold and starting to dry up. It wasn't only me, everyone was staring at the kitchen waiting for their order. Also, our server was pretty much clueless when we asked her some question about the meat used for the burgers and another server stood at a nearby table for at least 20 minutes conversing with the customers. Never going back to this S n S. read more

The service is awful here. You wait atleast 5 minutes if no more waiting to be sat when all the servers walk by and completely ignore you. the food is not even that great and they take 20+ minutes to make a milkshake. Waited 15 minutes for my check while sitting in front of empty plates and milkshakes and occasional glances from our server who i guess just didn't notice or care? do not recommend spending your money here. read more

Went here for the first time and just had the Mushroom & Swiss burger. It was ok... nothing to brag about. Old fashioned style pressed burger a little on the greasy side. Couldn't finish it all (for the sake of my arteries) but flavor was decent. I'll try one of their shakes next time and see how that goes. read more

Looked a little grimey in there. I was too disgusted to order anything. The next next I just got a bowl of chili to go... It was decent. The food was hot and pretty average tasting read more

WORST SERVICE!!!!! Took 10 minutes to take our drink order and food order at the same time, then took another 10 to get our drinks cause the waitress forgot about us. We sat there a total of 40 minutes before we left cause we never got a refill or our meal, while during that time 5 tables that came in after us got their drinks and food.. so as we were leaving I told the waitress that we were leaving cause we never got our food and she looked at me as if she forgot to put the order in. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN!!!! read more

Walked in at 3 am wanting breakfast, which is not served until 6. The place was a mess. 5 dirty tables with a spilt shake on the floor, that still wasn't cleaned up by the time we left. Seemed as no one cared about their job there. Ordered a burger, ate almost all of it until I saw a nasty ass BLACK HAIR in it! Ugh I stopped eating immediately! This makes me so sick! I will never return, definitely not how I remembered as a kid. Disgusting. read more

I just moved into town and went for a late night snack.. I got the portobello burger which was amazing and super hot by the time I got home to enjoy it. 5 star fast food! But the cashier was not very friendly.. I didn't get her name but it was 2/28 @ 10:15pm.. She made me feel like I was a burden to take my order- I simply asked for a #7 and she kept saying what? What? What else do you want? With a heavy sigh... and then the delivery of my food at the window carried her attitude over with even more sighs. I've been young and have had to work sh*t jobs, but at least fake a smile!! read more

Where to start? First off the table was cleaned with a dirty rag to the point that the 4 year old was using a napkin to try and clean the grease marks the rag left. I've never waited so long for food in my life. Literally! When the food did come it looked atrocious. My order was wrong. The waitress tried telling me that's what I ordered. First off I've NEVER ordered a grilled cheese from a restaurant and never will. Second off if I say I don't want it and that's not what I ordered then I don't want it. I just didn't even order anything after she took it back. Then our receipt was wrong and they tied to charge me for the grilled cheese that I sent back?! Wow! Never again... read more

Best Steak N Shake I've been too. Fast, attentive, clean, and nice. I've had bad experience at other locations but this is now my go to Steak 'n Shake. read more

Once seated we waited 20 mins to get our drinks and our order. Then we waited another painstakingly 45 mins for our food. It wasn't just our table, several other tables were mad that they weren't being waited on. The staff was friendly but no one was in a hurry. We had our 16month old teething son and he was hungry so this made the trip pretty much unbearable. We normally eat at the Ihop next door but they had a long wait and we had a S&S coupon. The food was just okay. Long story short this experience was horrible. I would rather eat dirt at home than ever come here again. read more

Every time I bring food home from the drive through, it is wrong. I enjoy the food, but quite honestly I am done with the drive through service. Either the service is too slow or the orders are incorrect. Just makes for a poor dining experience. Eat in, but never take out. Tonight 2 cheddar burgers ordered plain, came with all the crap my kids won't eat. Ordered two shakes a malt and a coke. Received 4 shakes without knowing which was the malt because they were not marked. Realized the mistake on the way home so had to stop and buy another coke. Cheddar burgers are placed in styrofoam container. The container is too large for the bag, so both burgers were flipped sideways with the cheese spilling out. It became obvious that if the chain doesn't have bags to hold their containers that here are more serious issues than crappy service. read more

Why do they tempt me so? I always fall for their cheesy burger and milkshake goodness only to be horrible service. Melted milk shakes? Check! Cold food that sat on the pass for 15 minutes? Check! Salad remembered after food delivered? Check! Cashier on the phone while she cashes you out? Check! Save yourself the annoyance and eat at dairy queen or one of the 100 other burger and a shake places. read more

Absolutely terrible service! Like seriously? We got our food in a timely manner, however the waitress was awful. She didn't check on us even once, and then they made the elderly lady take care of us. The poor lady was obviously having a difficult time getting around, yet still our original waitress just stood in the back chuckling with her friends. Then, when we said something to the manager, the manager acted like she didn't care at all. How can you seriously run a place that poorly. This is ROCKWALL for heaven sake! Have some standards! read more

Absolutely awful customer service. Waitined a good 45 mins for fast food! The server was scattered, didn t seem to know what was going on or even care. No napkins on the table. It's was some many different things to even mention. Then to top it all off it took at a minimum of 20 minutes for them to split the bill up for our group. Worst dining experience in all of Rockwall. read more

Good shake but they made us wait at the menu speaker for about 5 minutes before we were allowed to order. There were so many cars behind us and no one in front of us. read more

We make a point to stop here when traveling through Rockwall and it was one of our favorite spots. Our last two visits have been less than adequate. As usual, the burgers and fries were great. However, it took forever to get our food. At one point, I went to the cook's window and got a part of our order that was never brought to us! We ordered shakes as well, never got them until we went to pay out, then we got them in to-go cups, all melted.... read more

Great food but the service is slooow & the bathrooms are atrocious. They have the potential to be great but as they are, they are 1star. Poor management read more

Well the burger was great. Fries cold, asked for seasoning and it was put on cold fries so it was a powder that just sat on fries. Asked for another order of fries and they were same fries. I only eat bad like this once a week so for it to suck really sucks! Table dirty, waited 8 min to be seated with nobody in front of us. After that waitress was sweet and apologized but I really wanted fries. Place was also dirty. What is up with that? read more

Having grown up in the Midwest, Steak & Shake was a staple growing up - probably the only fast food I ever saw my dad eat, so it's where we went when we were looking for fast food. Now fast forward to today. Food was still good - though either the burgers have gotten greasier or my grease-tolerance has slipped. The fries are like no other - skinny, hot and delicious. The chocolate shakes are great, thick and flavorful - and my daughter swears by the haf-n-half orange and vanilla shakes (says it tastes like a dreamsickle...). Service is waaay better than most fast food joints. It's sort of a cross, as you sit at your table and place your order with a server, but it's still fast food in flavor and style. Servers are friendly and managers seem genuinely interested in your satisfaction. Overall, a solid "4" within the context of what it is - a fast food place. Enjoy! read more

I came here around 6am passing through. The gent on the night shift was incredibly nice, and I didn't have the problems some have complained of. I'm heading there now, and will post photos of my experience. If it's as terrible as some say, I won't hesitate to tell it like it is. From my one time here, it wasn't bad. Timely, polite, good food. read more

Tasts good but has terrible service. I waited 40 minutes for a burger. I am very unhappy and the food was cold.

I have been in this location twice in three months, once about 930pm and another around midnight. Neither times were they busy. Both times the food was prepared as we ordered it, and was yummy, but arrived a LONG time after it should have. They seem to always bump in-house oders for the drive through orders, which is okay to a point but a burger and fries should not take 35 mins to arrive at midnight when they are dead! This past Saturday, we had t waitress seat us, and tell us our waitress would be by in a few... this was perfectly fine. 15 minutes later she still hadn't come over, still no drinks even, so the same sweet waitress who seated us stepped up to help. The waitress who should have been taking care of us arrived at the table with our rinks without even an 'I'm sorry about that'. We ordered. A very nice guy brought our shakes, and the sweet waitress refilled our waters. After about 30 mins we asked about our food, and the sweet waitress went to check on it. It arrived about 8 or 9 mins later with a crabby, 'here we go' from the 'assigned waitress' who was STILL wearing the drive through headset (very annoying). We ate and then had to wait for a long time for the waitress to realize we needed our check. Annoyed with the lack of service, I tipped the assigned waitress and walked over to the sweet one, who really waited on us two bucks, in front of the manager. Praying the next visit will not include a waitress for the tables inside who also runs the rive through... I truly believe our order never got enterd until the other chic checked on it... sad, because I love thier food! read more

well it is Steak and Shake, I do like the sliders know offered on the menu. My chili was barely warm not cold enough to send back. I do like the idea of buying the sliders as an individual order for us on a limited appetite these are great with some frisco sauce on the side. read more
