Boots Burger is in the middle of a regular neighborhood. The reason they are allowed to sell burgers out of this house is because they have been there so long that they got grandfathered into some old zoning clause. Be prepared to show up early and wait in line (like 15mins early) because people kept showing up when I was there. All the guests seems like locals. As for the burgers, I thought it was ok... a little bit more greasy than what you would usually get at fast food places. Was the taste better than fast food places? Just a tad... The burger is fine. It's ok. I'm not sure if it was worth the hassle of the extended lunch break and hour round trip I took from work but it was fine. Simply put it tastes like your grandpas backyard bbq type of burger. And there isn't anything wrong with that. If I had tried this burger five years ago, before the crazy cheeseburger boom of recent years, I probably would have enjoyed it more. But now there's just so many more options around that almost make this experience feel a bit moot. $9 bucks for their double double and it took twenty minutes to make with two people ahead of me in line. I discovered Boots Burger yesterday while shopping in Rockwall. I wanted to find a local burger spot nearby Boots Burger appeared in my search. After reading a few reviews and checking out their menu, I decided to order a double double which is a double cheese burger. They don't sell fries but they have chips and a soda machine for beverages. According to the reviews you have to arrive early to avoid being sold out. I parked and there was another customer waiting in his vehicle. As soon as they opened, about five more cars pulled up and their phone rung constantly while waiting for my burger. I spoke with four regular customers who also recommended me to get the spicy relish on my burger. Two of the guys live in Allen so they have customers all over Texas. I decided to go back and order a burger for my husband and add relish on the side. The burgers are very good and their prices are affordable. They have been in business since 1968. This place is take out only so arrive early or place your order over the phone. Once they run out of meat, they will close for the day. Owners are very nice and are passionate about making delicious burgers. I'll definitely be back again soon for one of their burgers. read more

The bun was toasted, the burger was well done (not my preference) on a flat top. I didn't taste any significant seasoning but it was fresh, hot , and pretty good for less than $8 for a double that wasn't laden w/salt like a fast food burger. The burgers are great. Really juicy, probably from the grease. But these are old-school burgers that melt in the mouth. However, a couple of things to know when you visit. It's cash only. Saw more than a few people pull up then leave during my 47 minutes of waiting for the burger. That's right, 47 minutes. It didn't seem to be a particularly busy day. I'm guessing the solution is to call your order in ahead of time, then pick it up later. Problem solved. But 47 minutes was pretty ridiculous. I love old school. My wife grew up in Rockwall before it got to be a big town. She and her girl friend would often go but this was my first time there after all these years. That leads to the big drawback. It's only open for lunch during the week. You can smell the goodness as you got a couple blocks away. I can honestly say that this is the best burger I've had in a very long time. Some tips here. Bring cash. Also they have chips for purchase as well as a coke machine. Final tip ... Plan where you want to eat since you cannot do so on premises. I suggest Harry Myers Park just a couple of blocks away. Boots is definitely worth the drive from Dallas. Took a little drive out to Rockwall to give Boots a try. Obviously it's garnered some pretty high praise here and elsewhere, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about. Got to the house where they do business located in an older but nicely kept up neighborhood about 15 minutes before they opened on a Tuesday. There was one gentleman already there waiting for them to open. Thankfully no long lines, at least yet. When they opened promptly at 11 am I ordered up a double meat burger and a side of hot relish, along with a bag of chips. For a drink I popped 75 cents into their soda machine for a can of Big Red. About 10 or 12 minutes later my name was called and they handed over a brown bag containing the burger and relish. I walked to my car parked on a side street (there's no eating on premises) and opened up the burger and relish, and dug in. First bite was all it took. Absolutely delicious! The burger was cooked to perfection, juicy but with a slight char around the edges. The toppings were all fresh as can be. I scooped a bit of the hot relish onto the burger after trying it first without, and it was good that way as well, but I think I preferred the burger without it. All in all Boots Burger lived up to the hype. An excellent burger at a fair price ($6.50 for the double hamburger no cheese which is the way I like my burgers), and I will most certainly be back again. read more

Tried calling numerous times, as I was visiting from out of state and wanted to try some local burgers for myself and extended family (12 of us). Checked website, looked good and started calling at 1100 when them opened. Got voicemail the first 4 times, and on last try got through and started to order. As I was ordering (wanted 15 to have an extra or two), guy told me they don't do orders that big, I asked what the max was, he said "probably 10-12".... I then said I'd take 12, all plain and could I have some of eh Dixon's in the side.... I would've thought I called the guy on the phone an expletive.... "We don't do anything on the side here".... Told him I think I'll go elsewhere and he hung up. I'm sure they are great burgers, but horrible customer service. Order small and nothing on the side. Moral of story.
