Oh how I missed this place when we moved to another state! But I make sure I stop by here to eat whenever I come to visit Rowlett. The burgers are the star here. Fries are also the best. Went for a Mushroom Burger, and some Sweet Potato Fries. The Fries are really good here, never soaked in grease. You can taste the Sweet Potato in each bite. Now....Houston is revered for its diverse and delectable food. Never have I ever had a burger that bursted with so much flavor. Hubby had the patty melt and switched the cheese from swiss to cheddar. Words cannot describe it - meat cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp - onion rings were excellent. I ordered a Jungle Burger, but had to get it to go because we were full. I highly recommend this restaurant - it won't disappoint. Our server said he was new, but we couldn't tell because he was so knowledgeable on the menu. His whole vibe made me feel at home. LOVED HIM! This place is legit. We haven't eaten here in several years. It's a nice little sit down place to enjoy a good burger. Service was excellent. After we placed our order, it came out very quickly and was hot and fresh. We love the spices on their fries. Restaurant was clean and tables were bussed quickly despite them being busy. I will say it is quite pricey but I feel the portions are large. I definitely will share fries with my kids in the future because we each got fries with our order and nobody could finish them all. The food is great but the cleanliness was not cool. We saw them put our to-go order on counter & no name called. We wondered if it was hours so after about 10 minutes we walked up and they didn't even know whose order it was....it was ours. My buddies and I each ordered burgers cut into fourths so we could share different types. Then we found the problem. You see, I got the chili cheese burger and after eating a fourth I didn't want to share any more. In fact from then on I have to fight to get myself to order anything but the chili cheeseburger because SO GOOD. It ruined me. I want to try the other burgers and sandwiches. My family and friends say they're great. But man that chili-cheese. Oh yeah also the clam strips and Texas toothpicks. The burgers were good but we saw 2 roaches while being there. A woman& her son were at a booth when the saw a huge roach walking on the wall above their booth. When real burger place comes along that has quality meat cooked to perfection with just the right amount of condiments to complement the juicy entree, people will overlook it for a fast food chain. That's just sad. Burger Island has the best burgers I have tasted in Dallas by far. The only reason why it got 4 stars are the fries are so heavily over seasoned they are not recommended. I order the sweet potato fries instead. The Jungle Burger I am told is the best ever but I love the mushrooms and Swiss cheese and Guacamole Burgers too much to try anything else! Both were very tasty and we'll definitely go back! My only criticism is I wished we could pick the burger temp. Burgers only come cooked one way and it was no pink.
