Good food, but very poor service. On my visit on 7/24/12 , I had to ask for refills, ask for silverware, the waitress seen that our drinks were empty and didn't offer to refill them, the manager was very antsy, a waitress asked him was the schedule up yet and her told her "worry about the customers right now" then she talked back and said "I guess", the staff are a bunch of kids who don't act like they want to work, the girl with the dyed red hair took about 15 min to ring us out and she even seen us standing there, it took about 20 mins for some to-go shakes. This place is ridiculous. I've gone here with my friend and her beautiful baby a few times and was nothing but pissed every time we leave. Last time we went was Friday night. First off, they have a hostess there who literally just doesn't need to work up front. I feel sorry for her but I can't tell if she's just rude or can't hear very well. But she just makes the experience weird and her breath is horrible. The last thing I want to do right before I eat is smell some nasty breath. Anyway there are two adults and one 2 year old. And we ask for a booth like always and she shows us to one of those booths for when your on a date (two people only) and on top of that the table was dirty. So we said can we have a actual booth? Like the one that's open 10 feet from this one that I guess she just didn't see. Which was also disgusting. So then she yells well I'll have to clean it off. Well okay then. So then we proceed to order from this high school kid who seemed nice enough but I'm not sure he understood what exactly his job was. He took our order then went and started wiping down tables while looking at us. He never came back by. We waited for about an hour with a hungry 2 year old. Then some other waitress comes by and asks we need anything. We say yeah that we want our food and that we will not be paying for this. It was beyond ridiculous. So with a strange look she walks away. Then comes in the toothless "Manager" who needs to go back to school and take a English class. She Fo Real when we said how long it has taken to get our food. Then she just walked off to get other tables their food while I watched her. Then she comes back and says we don't have to pay and that he just put in our order and that she was sorry they have a bunch of new people. Which is funny because we watched 4 other tables get food before we did just fine. But who's counting. So finally our food came out. Well half of it. They couldn't even get the order correct. And she asked if we wanted some free milkshakes and my first thought was no I'd rather not wait 30 minutes or more for you to do that. Yeah unfortunately I agree with the other low rated reviews. I've been several times over the course of a year and this most recent visit topped them all. The bathrooms are disgusting, I'd hate to see what the kitchen is like. Our waitress was terrible, and I use that description sparingly when referring to most waitstaff. She forgot orders. Never brought out food. Demanded all of our party be present before we could even place drink orders only to forget what said orders were. We were a party of 15 and rather than walk between isles to address the entire table at the middle when checking in, she would only stand at the far end and ignore you as much as possible. She told one of our party members that he needed to repeat his order because she was "too busy listening to the music." I ordered a shake that never came and I gave up trying to get her attention because nothing short of walking over to the corner where she was happily chatting with the other waitstaff would even accomplish that. When it came time to pay she actually told a member of our party that he needed to go pay right now because so and so's shift was about to end; he wasn't even finished eating yet. I was one of the few people that still wanted to eat here occasionally but after this I will not be back. I've had better service at true fast food diners. We were not impressed. Honestly, spend your money elsewhere so that maybe this place will close and can be replaced with a half decent joint. read more

As a family of 3, we walked in and waited 7 minutes to be seated and there were 13 available booths/ tables. Our order was taken promptly and we waited. In the meantime, we watch 15 people of various group numbers come, wait and leave after no interaction with any staff. There are 2 high school girls who are new and nervous on the floor on a very busy night but they are trying. We see the manager come out look around and walk back to somewhere. After one of the cooks comes out to help deliver food, one of the waitresses seats people who have waited far longer than I would have. I honestly felt so bad for the girls that I grabbed my handy dandy phone and called this location. It rang with no answer upon dial #1. I called again and a lady named Debbie answers. I asked if she was the manager and she said yes. I politely told her that she needed to be the floor as the girls were overwhelmed and needed direction and guidance-she said ok and hung up. Our food came in a timely manner as did Debbie from the back room. Debbie moved the tickets around in front of the cooks station, checked a few people out who were waiting to pay and the. Made drinks. Mind you there are 6 people waiting to be seated and numerous available seating options. We each ordered a milkshake at the beginning of our meal and proceeded to watch them sit in the window while Debbie made drinks. My husband went to get the drinks and she wanted to re-make them. 10 minutes later and 40 minutes after arriving and dinner having concluded, we each had a delicious milkshake. Meanwhile, we watch 15 more people get tired of waiting and leave. Debbie comes to our table to see how it was, but before waiting for a response she grabs my husband's plate only and puts it on the table next to us which was dirty upon our arrival. Not to mention the other 6 dirty tables that simply needed to be cleaned and ready for the waiting people.My plate and my son's plate remained on the table-but Debbie needed to make more drinks-never mind that there were 4 or 5 plates of hot food in the window to be delivered to waiting patrons. Morale of the story-the food and/ or drinks aren't worth the hassle of the poor management-freaking go through McDonald's or Starbucks and you'll be grateful you did! I will NEVER go back to that establishment. I wish there was an option to give no stars but alas a single star is my only option. Best place ever people who give this place bad reviews are really stupid and are messed up in the head

While visiting Texas from out of state, we stopped here to eat on our way to DFW. We waited an hour for our food before finally asking for our order to go, explaining we were going to miss our flight. Even after explaining our sense of urgency, it took forever to get our food. Once we got in the car, I realized that my burger, which I'd ordered with no mustard, was literally dripping in mustard. The fries tasted like they hadn't been salted and were bland as could be. The only thing this place did right was give us our food for free, which made the fact that is was barely edible a bit easier to swallow. read more

Steak and Shake is a great fast food burger place. Their steak burgers are delicious and their ultra thin fries are awesome when you get them fresh. We think that their burgers are still some of the best available. Drive-thru window service is sometimes slow and could be improved - otherwise I'd give them 5 stars. read more

Today is Sunday, 10 Aug, 2014, and the after-church crowd is lined up to eat at every dining facility in the area, so we decided after services to head over to Steak 'n Shake. There was a party of six ahead of us, and several arrived while we all waited for a table or booth. That was strange because there were six tables open, and clean. I mentioned to my wife, who is diabetic and has arthritis, that there were plenty of tables for everyone, but no hostess to do the seating. My wife was getting tired, and was in pain from standing. She decided to go sit in our truck instead of standing in line, but came back after a short time. It was hot out there. After several minutes passed, the hostess shuffled over and, menus in hand, took the party of six to a nearby booth. No greetings, no eye contact or smile or anything else for the parties waiting - nor for the party she was seating. She methodically placed their mats and table service, seemingly in no hurry whatsoever to handle the growing line at the door. I noticed a server nearby, and asked if it was possible to seat more than one party at a time. Having been in this restaurant more than once, I had often noticed the servers doubled at seating customers. Apparently the hostess heard what I had asked, and began demanding from me, "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, SIR?!!" She repeated that a couple of times, in a loud and aggressive voice. Then she came over briskly (at last) and repeated "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, SIR?!!" Surely it could be heard all over the dining area. My wife came to my rescue, and answered for me, "No, we don't have a problem." She had to answer that twice, since the hostess was still aggressively repeating her 'PROBLEM, SIR!!" thing. Finally, the lady found our menus and lead us to a booth. I have worked in restaurants in my past. I've served food, cooked, worked tables, bussed, washed dishes, and managed. At age 67, I hope never to do so again, but I can tell you that no business I have associated with would tolerate such behavior in the person responsible for greetings, and seating customers. To be fair, It must have been a bad day for the lady. I began noticing the other staff, and couldn't find one smiling face for about 20 minutes. Grim servers everywhere. Eventually, one young lady smiled at her customers. I'm not saying the management is missing something, but it is always true that the tone of a place is determined by the bosses. If they are stressed and causing stress in their staff, then it is mirrored in how the serving staff approach customers. Failing to properly train and encourage staff is not likely to improve business, to put it mildly, and a glance at the reviews written here would lead one to wonder if these managers pay any attention at all. read more

I have eaten at several other Steak N Shake restaurants in the past including the Rockwall location. I went there tonight with my wife and son, and will NOT be going back. We entered the restaurant around 8:45 pm, several other folks came in behind us.We waited, and waited and waited. My wife finally saw a lady close to the restrooms that looked like she worked there and asked if someone could come seat us. The lady said she would have someone come up shortly. Again we waited and waited and finally left, along with the other folks behind us. NO ONE ever came to the front to help us. There were maybe 8-10 other people in the entire restaurant eating. The customer service here is horrible. Dont waste your time, because they obviously dont care if they get your business or not. Highly disappointed! read more

Usually we are impressed with the service and how friendly they are..But today they got our order completely wrong and when we told our waiter he started arguing with us. So we decided to ask another waiter for help and he talks to the manager and never comes back to help us get our order correct. We even had to get our own refills. Seriously not impressed, I don't know if the management is new but you seriously need some work. Throughout this entire mess you never apologized for your mistakes, we never heard anything from the manager until we paid for the ticket and the manager didn't even say sorry for our troubles. This location seriously needs a talk from corporate. You bet you got a feedback call of "how well your service was" You have lost our service to your company.
