I've never had a frown turned upside down so fast. The manager was well dressed, polite and on top of the guest experience. Followed me out to my car to make sure my family was happy. Two Mexican Cokes and some KitKats my family was thrilled. THIS LOCATION IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST SERVICE WE HAVE EVER HAD. This is a Frisco melt that I ordered at the Sheffield Steak'nShake. I went through the driveway through. Very pleasant attendant. But what a mess. Frisco sauce all over the wrapper inside and out. So glad to see this was open! The burger was delicious and the fries are cooked in beef tallow. The cookies and cream milkshake was so good! The place was super clean and the manager was very friendly and checked on us several times. There are no wait staff and you check in with a kiosk but I saw an employee helping an older customer with the cash kiosk. I used the credit card kiosk and it was easy. When the driver showed up shortly after 6 pm, Steak and Skake decided to close the restaurant and kitchen in the middle of dinner hour. How do you stay open by shutting down 4 hours early? Wow, I don't know where to start. I'll give you the short version. I had the absolute worst experience here with a take out order. I got home and was missing half of the food. I contacted corporate via their website and requested a phone call in response. It has been a month, and still no response. After that incident, we also dined in once (only to use up gift cards). That second visit only reassured my negative opinions. When you don't get what you order, for a second time, it's time to move on. I understand that good help is hard to find, but when there's zero management watching over employees.... constantly... and no phone call from corporate... My advice is keep you expectations LOW! The burgers are very good with a wide range of specialty configurations including some unique ones such as the "Frisco Melt" - a delicious cheese and dressing sandwich. Don't be fooled though - burgers aren't all they do. Some of the tastiest and most warming chili can be found here. Naturally their milk shakes are a treat not to be missed. Came here for a quick meal before I got on the road. I realize it was a holiday weekend and a lot of people were out shopping and traveling. Wanting to be moving quick I was slowed down by the drive thru. Five cars ahead of me and I was on my way with a special order made correctly cars at just over 22 minutes. The good news was that the Prince of Royale burger was nothing short of awesome with lots of grilled onions and a gooey egg yolk to saturate the semi greasy bun and the drink was cold. The bad were the french fries that barely filled the cup. I suppose they knew not to give me too many since they were limp, slightly soggy, definitely not crispy, barren of salt, and unforgivenling not hot at all. It takes not a lot of hard work to make shoestring fries so unspectactular. So I have been to much better Steak'n Shakes and hope to never see worse. If they would not have taken as long as they did, I would have given them a three, but a two is awarded for mediocracy. read more

Most meals here were $4 or less. I am not sure how any restaurant can make money, but it appears this place can do it. The burgers were good, but the fries were pretty lame. They were cold and wilty. The shakes were huge and good. The salads were somewhat bleh with a very modest amount of chicken when you order a salad with that protein. I come here often with my daughter & combining the free kids meal on weekends with coupons makes this cheaper than any fast food spot in town and the quality is immensely better. Service is usually pretty good but there have been a few times it should have been better - waited tables for SnS all through college & even at this location one summer so maybe I'm biased, or more informed on what to expect? Let me first say - I feel so off-putting when I make seemingly complex requests and orders. I'm on the Keto diet which is a low to no-carb and no sugar type of diet with a focus on high fat. That being said - I ordered a bacon-n-cheese triple extreme with lettuce, extra tomato, extra pickles, mustard and mayo with an egg on top and no bun. Upon stating the order the nice lady that took my order repeated it flawlessly (great feeling & good vibes). After paying I was directed to pull ahead and they'd bring it out. It wasn't too long of a wait, but I wouldn't complain if it was because I ordered a complicated request and they make it fresh and to order. The gentleman came out, very pleasantly and friendly and said "bacon extreme with no bun/bread" - I said "yes sir". When I got home; they made it perfectly with everything in a container, extra fixings mustard and mayo on the side and with a fork and knife (which I forgot to request). The Sheffield Steak-n-Shake delivered in a big way for my today and all with pleasant attitude and care and attention. Being on such precise diets like the Keto Diet makes eating out or picking up carry out such a headache, however, my experience here at this Steak-n-Shake was uber encouraging and such a great experience - THANK YOU for showing me that there are great establishments out there that treat their customers and patrons well and go above and beyond to be accommodating. My fiancé and I walked in, it was busy, got seated right a way, quick glance at the menu, m&m shake and the bacon and cheese double steak burger for me, tea and chilli for my fiancé. The smell coming off the grill made me queezy so I dipped into the bathroom for a few moments, moments turned into 20 minutes, walked out, glass of water, and our food but no shake.... Um.... My desire to waste time today is so strong that I am now writing a review of a place I haven't been to in 4 years and that none of you will ever visit. Sentimental value. It'll trap you. When attending college in the middle of nowhere, you can usually entertain with any number of keg parties (let's not kid ourselves, that's basically what they were, even though they all had a very well thought out theme.) where you would pay 3 dollars for as much PBR, Red Dog, Natty Light/Ice your body could stand. If it was a classy party, you could imbibe in any number of bottom of the barrel liquors. Naturally, there came a time when none of this quite satisfied a young person's quest for adventure. And when the time came, you could either be a stereotype and go to the Denny's OR you could be Awesome and go to Steak & Shake. I spent many a night here eating delisious cheeseburgers (I usually went for the "Frisco" burger on sourdough with the special "Frisco" sauce - a strange sign of things to come) and sipping on enormous chocolate milkshakes along with fellow Obies. We always stuck out like sore thumbs, our dark clothing & overwhelming air of elitism (it comes along with the 30K a year tuition). For the love of GOD, avoid this restaurant . I ordered a 4 for $4 meal for take out. Huge mistake. I ordered the double cheeseburger and paid the 50 cents extra for the garlic spread. The burger was overcooked, crunchy and dry. Didn't get the garlic spread or any other condiments. My fries were cold and very old. My coleslaw was warm because it was bagged with the hot foods. I truly believe the entire staff shares one brain. The old expression you get what you pay for definitely applies.
