The owner / manager knows what he is doing. The burgers, fries, onion rings, everything ... they are all the best around. The employees are very hard working . If there is a lull in cooking or serving, they grab a rag and start wiping things down. Equipment, counters, tables, windows are immaculate. And they are not afraid to interact with patrons. Friendly , accommodating, ...treat you like family. The owner is super nice and is hands on. He doesn't hide behind a closed door. I have even seen him man the grill. It is obvious the employees enjoy working there. A great group of people ... and as I said the food is always fresh and delicious..... Sharon K Elyria, Ohio read more

Yes I left this same review on Google but I had to share it here too! My daughter and I stopped here just to grab a couple of milkshakes, and I have to say, this place feels like it is heading in a GREAT direction! While we were there, we got the chance to talk with the upcoming new owner, who takes over October 1st, and let me tell you, this guy is awesome! He is extremely outgoing, personable, and makes you feel like you are exactly where you want to be. The whole atmosphere just felt different. The crowd was having fun, the staff was super nice and friendly, and the food smelled absolutely amazing. We didn't order food this time around, but after smelling it, we definitely will next time! We got an Oreo milkshake and an M&M milkshake, and they were AMAZING! Exactly what you want when you stop at Steak 'n Shake for a shake. There was just a really good energy in this place, and I truly believe they are on the right path to turning this location back into what it used to be, and maybe even better! Keep up the great work! We will absolutely be back soon, and next time we're coming hungry! read more

A couple of my places I wanted to eat at in Cleveland were closed on Memorial Day, so I had to pivot. I saw that there were Steak and Shakes in the area, and I had not been to one in probably 15 years or so (Midwest trip, previously in Missouri). I decided to stop here for lunch. You order at the kiosk. I went with a double cheeseburger, large fries and a strawberry shake. They make it fresh, and bring it to your table when its ready. How was it? Absolutely delicious! The burger was piping hot, with 2 well seasoned smashed patties, melted cheese, onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles. It was tasty! The fries here are cooked in beef tallow, and you can tell. Much cleaner tasting fry. The fries here are super duper skinny though. I prefer a thicker fry, but these still hit the spot. Really good fries! The strawberry shake was great, too! They serve it to you in an actual frosted glass, and they have the good, thick, milkshake straws here. Nothing worse than trying to suck a shake through a skinny straw. These straws were the good ones! Service was friendly for the 2 guys working in there. The one guy brought out my food and the manager, I think, wished me a good day as I was leaving. This was a way better meal than I had expected, and I would definitely come back to Steak and Shake again. read more

Food is wonderful, service great, nice atmosphere . Will eat there again! The only thing I had difficulty with is the kiosk. Glad my boyfriend was there to help. read more

I was surprised to see Steak and Shake still open. I heard they were closing. Then we walked in at 5pm to an empty dining room. No servers. Only can order from a kiosk. No one says hello No interaction. Then the food comes out underwhelming. No way that is a 12$ hamburger read more

I've never had a frown turned upside down so fast. The manager was well dressed, polite and on top of the guest experience. Followed me out to my car to make sure my family was happy. Two Mexican Cokes and some KitKats my family was thrilled. THIS LOCATION IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST SERVICE WE HAVE EVER HAD. Not to mention the fries and onion rings were piping hot and the rest of our order was perfect. Whomever the guy in the dress shirt, gloves and apron was....THANK YOU! You really turned our road-trip around. read more

This is a Frisco melt that I ordered at the Sheffield Steak'nShake. I went through the driveway through. Very pleasant attendant. But what a mess. Frisco sauce all over the wrapper inside and out. The sandwich isn't cut. How am I supposed to enjoy this. A great disappointment. The burgers were not even placed on the bread. Signs were broken outside looked run down. read more

So glad to see this was open! The burger was delicious and the fries are cooked in beef tallow. The cookies and cream milkshake was so good! The place was super clean and the manager was very friendly and checked on us several times. There are no wait staff and you check in with a kiosk but I saw an employee helping an older customer with the cash kiosk. I used the credit card kiosk and it was easy. Food came quickly and was hot and delicious. We will definitely come again! read more

i'm a pretty peculiar person about where i eat, and this place is the number one pick for my boyfriend and i! the food is delicious. the new owner is the kindest. we've been coming to this specific location for about two years and you can definitely notice how much everything has improved. food comes out fast and hot! it's also become a lot cleaner. i wish more people came here! read more

Every time I go it's a minimum 30min. Wait in the drive through and the service is always terrible unhappy people. Have had issues with this store in the past and had to get corporate involved still nothing has changed read more

To start with, no one to take your order. You must use a screen. Then it took forever to get the food. Half was nuc-warm at best. Order was made to my order either. I give them a zero but had to give at least 1 start. Saying goodbye to this place. They do not deserve my business read more

Went through the drive-thru so didn't dine in. It was late and only one car ahead of me, but service was unusually slow. Food was consistently good and greasy. Yummy! read more

Steak ’n Shake - Fast drive thru - Burgers Near Me - Elyria, Ohio

Decided to order from here on Wednesday evening for dinner using UberEats. When the driver showed up shortly after 6 pm, Steak and Skake decided to close the restaurant and kitchen in the middle of dinner hour. How do you stay open by shutting down 4 hours early? Not even a drive through option. Pandemic is over. Pay and hire good staff that wants to work. Giving 1 Star for no food and no service. UberEats was great and let us know what happened as soon as it did so we could make other arrangements. read more

So, I am driving 15 miles all the way on Saturday at about 5pm to stand in front of a closed door with a sign "no public restrooms, take out only". Really? Ever heard of websites where you can post if for any reason you have to close your establishment for the public? Because, I had checked your website before to make sure you are open. read more

We ordered 2 $4 meals. The person that took our order wasn't knowledgeable about the milkshakes. She actually spoke with a negative attitude. We were given someone else'sorder. The other order wasn't made right at all. Then we had to pull over and wait. We didn't feel comfortable eating the food after that. We lost our appetite. We're not planning on visiting this location in the near future. read more

Place is such a shit hole lobby never open , trying to dash make money but takes 30 min going thru drive thru non stop . Burger flippers refusing to work cause they want 20 bucks an hour to drop fries into a grease bowl . Get an education and real job losers read more

Fast food... no severs anymore just another McDonald's kinda restaurant . Will not be back due to conditions of the restaurant

The milkshakes were fantastic and the burgers decent. Only issue that we had that the buns may have been overheated because the crumbled more with every bite. Our server was very nice and that always makes any experience better no matter the food quality. read more

Wow, I don't know where to start. I'll give you the short version. I had the absolute worst experience here with a take out order. I got home and was missing half of the food. I contacted corporate via their website and requested a phone call in response. It has been a month, and still no response. After that incident, we also dined in once (only to use up gift cards). That second visit only reassured my negative opinions. When you don't get what you order, for a second time, it's time to move on. I understand that good help is hard to find, but when there's zero management watching over employees.... constantly... and no phone call from corporate... My advice is keep you expectations LOW! I'll just go back to more responsive restaurants from now on, and pass my reviews on appropriately. read more

This is a popular place, and for good reason. The burgers are very good with a wide range of specialty configurations including some unique ones such as the "Frisco Melt" - a delicious cheese and dressing sandwich. Don't be fooled though - burgers aren't all they do. Some of the tastiest and most warming chili can be found here. Naturally their milk shakes are a treat not to be missed. Service is average and can occasionally be spotty. A full meal can be had for $4, a great value play for a double burger with fries. Enjoy! read more

Steak ’n Shake - A cup of Steak 'n Shake chili, au natural! - Burgers Near Me - Elyria, Ohio

The people are what make the place, not the food. I will say there tenders are one of the crispiest so when I'm craving it I go here. Service is usually slow especially if you are a DoorDash. Meh, it's alright read more

Came here for a quick meal before I got on the road. I realize it was a holiday weekend and a lot of people were out shopping and traveling. Wanting to be moving quick I was slowed down by the drive thru. Five cars ahead of me and I was on my way with a special order made correctly cars at just over 22 minutes. The good news was that the Prince of Royale burger was nothing short of awesome with lots of grilled onions and a gooey egg yolk to saturate the semi greasy bun and the drink was cold. The bad were the french fries that barely filled the cup. I suppose they knew not to give me too many since they were limp, slightly soggy, definitely not crispy, barren of salt, and unforgivenling not hot at all. It takes not a lot of hard work to make shoestring fries so unspectactular. So I have been to much better Steak'n Shakes and hope to never see worse. If they would not have taken as long as they did, I would have given them a three, but a two is awarded for mediocracy. read more

Most meals here were $4 or less. I am not sure how any restaurant can make money, but it appears this place can do it. The burgers were good, but the fries were pretty lame. They were cold and wilty. The shakes were huge and good. The salads were somewhat bleh with a very modest amount of chicken when you order a salad with that protein. I know, it's a burger joint, but I've been eating like a pig and needed ruffage. For the money, it's hard to beat. Just stay with the staples of Steaks and Shakes. read more

I come here often with my daughter & combining the free kids meal on weekends with coupons makes this cheaper than any fast food spot in town and the quality is immensely better. Service is usually pretty good but there have been a few times it should have been better - waited tables for SnS all through college & even at this location one summer so maybe I'm biased, or more informed on what to expect? Either way, you're not getting a better deal for a great burger, fries, the absolute best chili ever & shakes in town - it's really not even close! Sad to see other locations close but at least my local one is still here! read more

Love to grab a quick bite here with my wife especially when everything else is closed, but lately when we go the waiters never come check on us and take forever to bring stuff out and when we try to find somebody to ask for napkins or ranch no one is around. sounds like they are having a good time in the back though. One time we had a waitress complaining and ranting to a table very loudly about how she hated it there and the people that worked there to looks like ...but I still really like going here. cheap bite to eat read more

Absolute worst drive thru on the planet. PERIOD!! Tell me why I was dumb enough to wait 45, YES 45 minutes in drive thru for burger and shake! AND five others were judtas dumb!! read more

My desire to waste time today is so strong that I am now writing a review of a place I haven't been to in 4 years and that none of you will ever visit. Sentimental value. It'll trap you. When attending college in the middle of nowhere, you can usually entertain with any number of keg parties (let's not kid ourselves, that's basically what they were, even though they all had a very well thought out theme.) where you would pay 3 dollars for as much PBR, Red Dog, Natty Light/Ice your body could stand. If it was a classy party, you could imbibe in any number of bottom of the barrel liquors. Naturally, there came a time when none of this quite satisfied a young person's quest for adventure. And when the time came, you could either be a stereotype and go to the Denny's OR you could be Awesome and go to Steak & Shake. I spent many a night here eating delisious cheeseburgers (I usually went for the "Frisco" burger on sourdough with the special "Frisco" sauce - a strange sign of things to come) and sipping on enormous chocolate milkshakes along with fellow Obies. We always stuck out like sore thumbs, our dark clothing & overwhelming air of elitism (it comes along with the 30K a year tuition). The cheeseburgers were actually pretty good, in the fast food sense but the fries were WEAK. Don't bother. Should any of you Californians find yourself in rural Lorain County, that is. read more

I gave two stars bc the food was hot the employees were so rude didn't even say have a nice day or nothing no smile or anything

Let me first say - I feel so off-putting when I make seemingly complex requests and orders. I'm on the Keto diet which is a low to no-carb and no sugar type of diet with a focus on high fat. That being said - I ordered a bacon-n-cheese triple extreme with lettuce, extra tomato, extra pickles, mustard and mayo with an egg on top and no bun. Upon stating the order the nice lady that took my order repeated it flawlessly (great feeling & good vibes). After paying I was directed to pull ahead and they'd bring it out. It wasn't too long of a wait, but I wouldn't complain if it was because I ordered a complicated request and they make it fresh and to order. The gentleman came out, very pleasantly and friendly and said "bacon extreme with no bun/bread" - I said "yes sir". When I got home; they made it perfectly with everything in a container, extra fixings mustard and mayo on the side and with a fork and knife (which I forgot to request). The Sheffield Steak-n-Shake delivered in a big way for my today and all with pleasant attitude and care and attention. Being on such precise diets like the Keto Diet makes eating out or picking up carry out such a headache, however, my experience here at this Steak-n-Shake was uber encouraging and such a great experience - THANK YOU for showing me that there are great establishments out there that treat their customers and patrons well and go above and beyond to be accommodating. BRAVO!!! read more

Way to come home hungry. This place is worse than the one that serves cold overcooked lobster thinking it will warm up in butter. How can you f*ck up a hamburger? Just ask the guy at the grill here. Looked like dog food. Dog food probably tastes better. Why does the "chili" taste like pickles? Was I just totally getting trolled? I thought this was some psycho prank show, but I later found out this was for real. I exaggerated on the "hungry" part of this review. My stomach isn't full, but I am too disgusted to eat, probably for a few days. I have a picture, but don't know how to post it. read more

I was really excited about this place. My fiancé and I walked in, it was busy, got seated right a way, quick glance at the menu, m&m shake and the bacon and cheese double steak burger for me, tea and chilli for my fiancé. The smell coming off the grill made me queezy so I dipped into the bathroom for a few moments, moments turned into 20 minutes, walked out, glass of water, and our food but no shake.... Um.... Usually the drinks come first.... So we twiddle our thumbs for 10 more minutes bc I'm sick, so I decide to try a frie, they looked hard, swear it chipped my teeth, it was hot thou. Finally the shake comes, I ask for a box and To go cup. We paid I didn't tip. At home after my tummy recovered I ate. Burger was great bacon chewy, great smokey flavor, awsome that's a star, the shake amazing, massive clusters of m&ms that's now chocolate but that's ok. There's another star. Service was ok, it was busy but more people on the floor would be better. But they did their best. read more

Really enjoyed their breakfast the cooks are good the food is good little slow but a good place for breakfast haven't tried to Burgers yet!!

I have been dragged here a few times. I can't eat any of the food here, but I like to look at the 50's tiling of the floors and counters. Good for late-night stops, but does not beat Denny's. read more

I like the food and the staff is usually pretty good. I've had one or two mediocre experiences with the wait staff, but nothing too bad to make me want to not come to this particular Steak & Shake. The food usually arrives fairly quickly and the staff is usually nice. Service can be pretty slow when they get busy (no real surprise there), but otherwise no problems really to mention. I'll be going back there again sometime in the future. read more

Waited in drive-thru 10 minutes and my fries are cold and stale. Barely any bbq sauce on burger. Very disappointed.

We've never eaten inside having always gone through the drive through. The drive through has always been fast, accurate, and the food has been great! The Reese Cup milk shakes are the best! read more

Quickly to be seated , Fifteen minutes to get drinks and find out who our server was . Fifty-three minutes to get our meals , just so we can devour it in ten to wait an extra fifteen minutes to stand at a overcrowded register to pay . The drive thru line was wrapped around the restaurant and the over flow of people walking in was crazy. Some tables that weren't getting any attention from their server left . It was poorly staffed with only three servers on the floor (including the host). read more
