Lehman's Deli - Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich

We will go out of our way to have lunch here, but if today was our first time there we would never…read morego back. The woman at the counter was completely unprofessional. We were there in the 1:00 hour on Saturday April 11, 2026 and were ordering when my wife asked what came on the Tuna melt. The woman (grey hair so there is no mistake who this was) very sarcastically said "Tuna, did you just get off the turnip truck?" Seriously? Maybe she was asking if lettuce and tomato came on it. I wanted to walk out but the sandwiches are always so good that I bit my tongue and we did order two tuna melts with added lettuce. There was no reason to demean her for asking what all comes on the sandwich. She was not joking either until I stated the obvious about additional add ons. It's 8:24 and I am still stunned by her attitude towards us. There is no way to convey her tone and attitude here but obviously it bothered me enough to post this. 5 stars food. 0 stars for her.

Nestled in Westlake you might drive by, but make that u-turn and double neck to Lehmans you will not be disappointed. I typically go with an everything bagel egg sandwich, they offer Cleveland Bagel, so a no brainer, that and they grill the bagel on the flattop . Once you place your deli order, hop over to the bakery and get a scone, a muffin, a donut, a slice of pie the possibilities are really endless. They offer a full coffee menu, soups to go, hot items, packed freezer and fridge items too. So get up early and head to Lehmans, especially if you want first dibs on the good donuts!

This is my all-time favorite Reuben sandwich! I usually split one with my husband but I'm going to…read morestop doing that and get my own from now on. It's really got all the perfect flavors for a delightful Reuben! The hoagie bun is soft and has great flavor. The corned beef is really good quality and sliced thin. Sauerkraut is tangy but not as sour as the kind you buy at the grocery store. The 1000 island dressing is perfect. There's a couple high top tables to seat a couple parties. Parking right out front. Behind this masterpiece sandwich are two of the nicest friendliest people. Mike and his dad. You just want to support these guys! They deserve all the stars! We stop by every time we fly into CLE airport! Yum.

Why 4 stars? Because this was a solid way to start my weekend trip…read more --- --- --- I was flying into CLE and was on the hunt to find a good place for lunch. My search didn't take me long, as I quickly found Express Deli: 5 minutes from the airport with an absurdly good rating. I don't always love ruben's, mostly because I'm not the biggest corn beef fan, but when they are done well, I am down. And I figured a place with a 4.9 rating would probably hit the spot. I think it did! I assume the mustached man who was a mirror image of the mascot was the owner, and he couldn't have been friendlier. There were only a couple of tables in here, so we sat down to ate, while a steady crowd of pick-up orders flowed through on a Friday at lunch time. My friend absolutely *insisted* I mention that they do not have parking spot lines painted in their lot. I am not one to turn down a dare, but I also acknowledge that these are the most inconsequential words I've ever typed in over 3,500 reviews. If you were to rank my priorities when evaluating a sandwich, the parking spot lines wouldn't crack the top 500. But my job is done here.

When I walked in, I had to settle for an unbelievably delicious scrapple sandwich because they were temporarily out of pastrami. Scrapple with a handmade, red, cabbage, slaw, onion, marmalade, and cheese. So creative and so delicious. My wife had asparagus and fennel soup. The fennel perfectly cut through the richness of the asparagus. Add to this one of the best potato salads I've ever had and it would've been enough. Until Jeremy came over to the table with some fresh pastrami to taste. I don't know where the best pastrami in America is, but whatever it is it's unlikely to be better than this. This is a place you should not miss.

I love supporting what they have going on here, and its no surprise that they've been James Beard nominated multiple times. The rotating menu of sandwiches always deliver. The fried chicken is the staple I like the most, but my husband prefers the pastrami. Those are the two I always recommend newcomers start with. The best sandwich they make, in my opinion, is the fresh & fried tomato sandwich. I watch their Instagram posts like a hawk in August when I know the local tomato crop should be coming in, and then I try to go at least twice while it's on the menu. Sitting outside on a sunny day with fried tomato juice dripping down your chin is a version of my heaven. Don't sleep on the rest of the menu, though, where the pickle selection, house-made sodas and egg creams, and baked goods almost out shine the mains.

I can't believe that we have driven by this place soooo many times and never stopped. It looked…read morelike a place older folks would go. However, we heard it was a deli and from the photos online the food looked great. So, we tried it. Well, the food was amazing. They offer a very large menu. There is something for everyone. I ordered the Philly and could not believe how good it was. The portions are huge, so we split. The potato salad was great, not the grocery store type! We were a large party of 9, and they had no problem seating us. We waited 10 minutes for a table. The service was fantastic. The waitress was very nice and brought refills right away. She brought extra plates when asked and got to-go boxes for us. The ambiance is hard to explain. The pace is huge! Not really decorated like a deli at all. Kind of an upscale diner, very clean, and minimalist. Don't expect a fancy interior. It's kid-friendly and just an all-around great family place. Not a "date" place, however, the food is so good, I just might ask to go there on a date! This restaurant does not disappoint.

I ordered takeout chicken parm 2 weeks ago and when I got home, there was no pasta -- it says in…read morethe description it was served on a bed of pasta (as chicken parm always is). I can forgive a mistake, but what really made me angry was emailing them twice about it and being completely ignored. I was just wasting my time because no one was listening. I took my Mom there for dinner today and told one of the workers about it. He said when you order online, if you choose a potato as a side, that's considered a starch replacement for the pasta, so you don't get any. Umm, what?? That's totally misleading and I know for a fact I am not the only person this happened to. Another person in the lobby overheard me and said the same thing happened to them a few months back -- which means management KNOWS the website is confusing and misleading people, but they do nothing about it. To be honest, I really like this place. Their servings are enormous, and I care a lot about the suffering of the billions of animals in our food chain, so Joe's is my go-to restaurant for fried chicken because they use Humane Certified Gerbers chicken. So kudos to the restaurant for those things. But when you are aware that you're misleading customers because of bad text on your website and you don't fix it, that's shameful. And when a customer takes the time to email -- two separate times -- and management completely ignores them, that's a serious fail.
