I had never heard about Mr. Hero because I hardly eat fast food but I was walking past them after leaving the Lakewood YMCA when my friend commented that they have the best fries or she may have said Philly cheesesteak. So, my friend wanted their waffle fries and I stopped in with her. It was kinda funny that she wanted fries right after exercising but we can't all be healthy 100% of the time...LOL. I like fries myself. My friend and I stopped in to get waffle fries for takeout. Their waffle fries are called potato waffers on their menu which is a side item. It was a quick order that was ready within 2-3 mins of us ordering. The large waffle fries cost $4 and there were not many fries in the bag. The amount of fries given didn't fit the price. The waffle fries tasted good after adding some salt and ketchup. They didn't put any salt in them. These are similar waffle fries to Chick-fil-A. Some other items on their menu include burgers, steak and chicken sub sandwiches, a kid's menu, and dessert. I don't know if I'll be back because I hardly eat fast food but if I'm craving fries one day then I may stop by. Same owner as Rocky River Drive location. Employee messed up my mobile coupon and couldn't figure out what he did. He ended up deleting the BOGO offer and then wouldn't honor it once he realized what he did. I asked him to call the owner and he did but the owner wouldn't honor the coupon. Welp. I wondered if Mr. Hero made good sandwiches and now I know the answer. It's a resounding no. The hot buttery cheesesteak was gawd awful. I took one bite and looked inside and kinda wished I hadn't. The "steak" was paper thin rectangular sheets of "meat", onions, canned mushrooms, with the overwhelming flavor of salty white American cheese. I'm glad I got a small. My hubby got the same thing and regretted it as much as I did. His mozzarella sticks were really low quality, too. I got "potato waffers" and those were by far the best thing we ordered. I have been going to this location for many years; primarily because it is located at the end of the street where I live in Lakewood. I placed our normal order on line, for pick up at 7 PM. I received an email confirming the order, my card was charged and approved. When I went to the location to pick up our order, both employees working told me they had no order. I was told to check my phone, that I must have ordered at the store on 117th. I said I just live down the street, why would I order at 117th? He answered by saying: "I know where you live", which I took as a threat. They were both very rude and were not at all concerned that they had missed my order. I showed them the order on my phone, it did not matter to them. While I was doing that, I noticed two things: one, that the store had sent me an email canceling the order, and two, that they had charged my card for the order.They both denied doing either of those things, despite clear evidence on my phone. To sum up, I ordered in good faith, showed up at the store at the correct time, and both employees at the store, one of them the manager/owner, denied any knowledge of the order, were extremely rude, accused me of lying to them because they said I ordered at the wrong store. There was no offer to make it right, no apology, no attempt to make the situation better. I was very frustrated with their attitude; I finally asked the manager/owner to look at the order on my phone, and he answered by saying "I don't care". With that attitude, I would advise anyone to stop ordering food from this location. read more

Awful experience at this Mr. Hero. It was my first, and last, time visiting this location. While ordering, an older gentleman (the owner I think) was very rude and dismissive. It was quite clear he did not want to be working. He made several rude comments to his employee (a younger gentleman) and you could feel the tension in the store. He remarked that he had been at this Mr. Hero for 17 years and that this was the worst day he'd had. Lucky me. The younger gentleman got my sandwich size wrong and made too large of a sandwich. I watched the sandwich he made just sit on the grill for about 5-7 minutes before the older gentleman told him to stop making me a new one and just give me the sandwich he made despite it being too big. The sandwich was cold, hard, and the meat was way overcooked. I think he thought he was doing me a solid by giving me more food than I ordered, but it was kind of too late. He put the sandwich in the bag and handed it to me without saying much. I told him I ordered onion petals and he grunted and walked back to grab them. He then forgot the sauce & I had to remind him of that. Maybe if it hadn't taken so long to make the food, he wouldn't have forgotten something I ordered 15 minutes earlier. There are 2 locations in Lakewood, this and the one on 117th. I will make a longer trip to specifically go to this one. The 2 men that are always working in the afternoon here are extremely nice and efficient. I pick up food here on occasion for my office and those 2 have no issues busting through a 9 person order in 5-10 minutes. I also come here to avoid some of the people that go to the 117th location. That area can be hit or miss. read more

I didn't actually eat here but was picking up for a delivery. It was extremely busy this day and the owner was working the store as if he was 5 people. He made sure everyone got their food hot and as quickly as possible. Polite service and gave everyone something free for the long wait. Much respect to him. read more

Normally I love Mr. Hero, and now that I live in NC I can never get it. Went to this particular location and three of the four sandwiches I order had meat that burned to a point they were black. It tastes like I'm eating charcoal. I'll go back to Mr. Hero but never this location. read more

This is the best Mr Hero in Lakewood. The veggies and bread are always fresh. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful with the sales as advertised. Their cook is great! He is so fast even when you have a large order and it is still perfectly made and tasty! Romanburgers are our favorite. Cheesecake is tasty even though it is prepackaged. read more

Food was good, quick, and fresh. Cost is high, but nothing unexpected. Food for 4 adults and 2 kids, we spent about what we would have spent at applebees or Fridays without alcohol. Also something a little off putting, there were 4 air fresheners in sight in the lobby. Not sure why. read more

If you're familiar with what other Mr. Hero locations offer, well, this one does, too. Considerate ownership and management goes beyond what is required. Visibility can be a problem coming either direction on Detroit. About 3 or 4 small tables, and a bench inside for waiting. Good stuff! read more
