This is a nice local spot that has delicious roast turkey and roast beef dinners made in house. Generous portions as well. This trip I had breakfast, ordering a croissant benedict that had reg bacon in place of Canadian. It was good, but the croissant got very mushy with everything on top. I prefer an english muffin for eggs benedict. I also had to order a turkey dinner to go since I was there :) I got clam chowder in place of salad and sadly, it was super thick. I've been here many times and overall, it's a great place! They have a weekend breakfast buffet if you like that style. The hours are very limited, so don't plan on dinner. We went there this morning with the family to celebrate my husbands birthday, my husband and I and my sister had the buffet and the rest had the breakfast from the menu. First off we had finished our breakfast at the buffet and they were still waiting on their food. Two orders had to be returned because they were wrong. My mother in law told me that the bacon tasted like it went bad. My father in law didn't even finish his breakfast. There was this older couple behind us and my daughter in law overheard them say that there were too many Hispanics by them ( meaning us) and they needed to move, which they did. Been hearing about this place for some time, decided to finally drop by for breakfast. I love mom and pop independent breakfast spots; most of them are great. This one was quite disappointing. Ordered a panini. Came out barely toasted, lots of scrambled eggs and bacon, but surprisingly cheese is not included. Ordered biscuits. Biscuits came out broken- not just in half, but on the sides as well, and crumbling. Shocked they thought it ok to serve like this. Looks like the lightest touch of butter was brushed on, but it did not come with butter. Coffee was bland, tasted as though it were cycled through again with the same grounds. Coffee creamer was artificial. Syrup was some syrup product, apparently. The server was friendly, and did come around to top off the "coffee." But what really knocked off the stars was the pricing. Finally tried this place out. Close to home. Went for brunch after church around 1pm. They had a breakfast buffet still but we opted to order off the menu. They had both lunch and the breakfast menu available. Ordered the Sugarcreek omelette with rye toast, and my date ordered the country fried steak and eggs with wheat toast. We also ordered a side of corned beef hash. The meals we ordered were really good. The corned beef hash wasn't great. It was mushy, probably canned. This is a no frills breakfast and lunch place, but would definitely return. More of a 3.5 stars read more

This year was an unusual Thanksgiving. The 2 of us just wanted to stay home and really didnt want to go through the hassle of all the mess & expense to cook for 2. So we saw an ad that SugarCreek is offering Thanksgiving "TO GO MEALS" for $18.95, and thought that would be ideal rather than cooking. What we DIDNT expect was the variety of food included in the meals, and the portion sizes of the meal just blew us away! Each Meals portion for $18.95 was easily enough for 2 people and it was equally as delicious (or even more tastier) then any homemade meal we have ever ate. We believe we will ALWAYS get Sugar Creeks Thanksgiving meals in the future now even when we eat at a family members home, so We can enjoy the meals (as if they were leftovers)!! Im just so glad (& thankful) a high quality restaurant that's still so reasonably priced exists...and we're lucky enough that it's in our Lorain County community. read more

As you first walk into this 'diner' you get a feel for the owners style which o would call eclectically creepy with a grandmother's charm. The decor can give you a weirded out vide while still making you laugh. It definitely fits into the mom-and-pop diner category. I'd recommend you go on a Sunday. We heard about this diner from a friend and woke up this past Sunday and decided on a whim to try it out instead of going to a local chain restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. They offer an affordable brunch buffet, doesn't include coffee, but has what I'm assuming to be it's best selling items. I tried a bit of everything while my partner tried a bit of everything else. My favorite was their corned beef hash. It had just the right amount of seasoning that I didn't have to add salt. The staff at this location makes you feel like a family friendly. 12/16/2021 Second time we had lunch at Sugarcreek. Food was good on each visit, no complaints there. Entering the restaurant, you can't help but notice the accumulated dirt on the front door. Not inviting at all. My wife needed to use the restroom and she came back immediately and said she'll wait till we get home. With two toilet stalls, one did not have a door on it and the other was filled with you know what and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year. She was surprised the health dept has not been notified! So, the next luncheon will be at Cracker Barrel for sure! read more

I can't believe I lived in this area for the first 17 years of my life and just tried this place when I came back for a visit. Best breakfast ever! I got a meat lover's omelette and it was so well balanced. The perfect egg to cheese to meat ratio. Also took a bite of a pancake and they were nice and fluffy. Service was great, place was clean. I saw the sign and parked outside while a finished up a call and noticed all the foot traffic in and out. Good sign number 1! Grabbed a seat and met a terrific server named Stephanie. Formal spelling... Good sign number 2!! I asked about the menu and Stephanie informed me it was all new in the past few days with special dishes that were permanant. The food here is adequate, in a midwestern-overly-sweetened, unnecessarily greasy sort of way. Real ingredients are in short supply: "pancake syrup," "creamer," etc. The coffee is of the dirty dishwasher type; the cups we grabbed in our hotel lobby were far superior. The real problem is the service. When we ordered, the waitress was baffled by my request for a Waffle Ambrosia. When I showed it to her on the menu, she said "I don't normally work breakfast." When our food arrived, she brought toast in addition to the biscuit my partner has ordered. She said it was just there when she picked up our order at the pass. We wondered whose toast it it was, but said nothing. Then she put a plain, naked waffle down in front of me, and chirped "I know, you need syrup." I stopped her and explained that the waffle I had ordered was supposed to come topped with fresh fruit and yogurt. "Oh! That's why there was fruit at the pass. I'll be back in a minute. I don't usually work breakfast." As she started to walk away, my partner asked for hot sauce. "Tabasco or Franks?" She asked. "Franks." She returned with a monkey dish of fruit (which, aside from the brown, rotting pineapple, was good). I said it also came with yogurt. "I asked him and he said this was what it comes with" she replied. Before I could ask her to bring me a menu so I could show her, she said she'd go back and check. "I don't usually work breakfast"she reminded us. As she started to walk away, my partner reminded her about the hot sauce. She returned a bit later with the yogurt and an "I'm sorry; I don't usually work breakfast." She also put a bottle of Tabasco on the table. Before my partner could say anything, she asked "you did ask for Tabasco, right?" He reminded her that he had requested Franks. Once again she went off to get hot sauce. At least this time she didn't use her 'I don't usually work breakfast' excuse! I guess even she knew that not remembering the answer to a simple question couldn't be ascribed to not being familiar with the menu. She returned with the requested hot sauce, and asked me if I wanted the syrup I had already declined. "Not unless it is real maple" I replied. "It isn't" she responded. She was back a few minutes later to ask how our (now lukewarm) food was. We told her it was fine; by now we just wanted to eat and get out of there. If mediocre food and inexcusably bad service are your thing, then you will love this place. We won't be back. read more

I brought my seven-year-old here eat breakfast we were supposed to go to church but then found out it was canceled. Yeah I know they never cancel church well today they did so we came here instead. Sebastian and my seven-year-old size the pancakes are sweet, buttery and yummy too. I got the almond French toast which was really nice fluffy, buttery, crispy Yum. What a great little gem, hidden away in a strip mall. The only way I learned of this place was through Yelp. We went for breakfast on a Sunday and had no problem getting a seat. The restaurant is large and has a cute fountain with flowers in the center. They had a breakfast buffet for slightly over $9 and there was a nice array of foods, but I am not a buffet person. I had the eggs Benedict which was very good. The eggs were poached better than I make them and the hollandaise sauce was yummy. The home fries were just ok. My husband had the Belgian waffle and sausage patties. It was a bit overdone so was very crispy. He had to ask for syrup which we thought was odd as it should have been served with it. Service wasn't great which is why I gave it 4 stars. Definitely worth another visit. read more

Amazing staff! We came this way for our Cedar Point trip and happened to make a highway stop for Burlington and saw this restaurant hidden in a corner. We made the choice to eat here cause we hate eating at places we can eat at home (ERIE, PA). Walking in was a little over whelming...we were stared at the whole time by customers. Apparently they never seen city folks or young people for that matter. Our waitress was very kind and new the menu. Or food was delicious and the cakes looked amazing. Although I was confused on the community atmosphere. I did feel like we were in a retirement community of 60 and older. The fountain display is neat yet unusual. Walking into the restaurant your greeted with dolls for sale, like China dolls and barbie dolls...which was kinda weird. But for food...we were hungry and we left full. The Sugarcreek Restaurant has a large, varied and extensive menu, including amish inspired recipes. The wife and I ordered the Meatloaf and Amish Turkey dinners, and were frankly blown away by the portion sizes. The $ 9 Amish Turkey Dinner came with a roll, a salad, a soup and on the entree plate itself, a larger portion of turkey than I ate on Thanksgiving, about two cups of their unique breaded-and-fried-mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. There was plenty of food ! The food was hot, fresh and tasty and left us both positive and satisfied. If we were locals, we'd definitely be back again. read more

This is the 2nd time my hubby & I have went here for breakfast. I have to say that both times, the food was pretty good. I definitely couldn't finish my plate either time. Big portions of food but much cheaper than Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans etc. we got the same server that we had last time. The first time, she wasn't very friendly but she did her job. This time, she recognized my hubby & I from last weekend when we were there. Wow did her attitude change! She was super friendly, bringing refills without asking. Told us come back again & ask to be seated in her section etc. and we definitely will!! I'm excited to try this place for lunch & dinner. They have s wide variety of things on their menu. I also saw when you walk in, on their board where they write the specials, that they have a buffet on Sundays for $9.49 . Definitely gonna check that out. Came here for DINNER, with the family. After sampling Blue Sky and not enjoying it I wasn't thrilled but the veterans event at Golden Corral was dangerous (parking and homeless veterans) so my husband and his brother and family decided on here... I want looking on enjoying it. But I was pleasantly surprised, our group of 5 was seated, drinks and food ordered all in 10 minutes I had the beef tips and noodles (egg noodles beef mushrooms gravy) perfect 8, chicken noodle in a bowl (more like a Japanese tea cup size) was great but 3 dollars kinda steep, the quesadilla (with chicken) were good, hubby ordered a Gyro and loved it, my brother in law had ribs (with BBQ) and enjoyed it, my sister in law got the Philly Cheesesteak and loved it, my nephew loved his potato skins and mozy sticks, hubby loves the coffee. the biggest down side are the bathrooms, there spic and span but the first smell that hits you walking in is bleach, and the first stall door can hit you as you walk in too... and when I go potty in a restaurant I love a pleasant BM experience (banging doors next door isn't zen like). I was really bummed when I realized that for the last 8 years I had been driving past this place without even giving it a second glance, not knowing what treasures were inside. The little lady and I stopped in one day after reading some good reviews about this place on Yelp. I was surprised. I had always thought this place was one of those smelly diners that reheated canned vegetables for you and charged you 10 times what it would cost you if you would have just stayed home and made it yourself. It was the exact opposite. You can go in there and get a massive meal for under 10 bucks, and that's even after leaving a 25% tip. The waitresses make you feel like they actually want you there and really care about the quality of your dining experience. The cooks treat every dish like Michelangelo would treat a piece of marble.
