Beerhead is our go to bar. We have been going for a couple years but mostly just for the beer and an appetizer here and there. Plus the staff is our favorite. Our daughter recently turned 21 and we had her party here, which was amazing! The food, the drinks, the fun ambiance and above all the service made for a great evening. My bestie and I came here for lunch. She had been here before and was so excited for me to try it. We even walked around a nearby nursery to kill time before they opened. When we got there, there was only one other table with a small family seated. They told us to pick a table and sit wherever we wanted. Our waiter greeted us a few minutes after we sat down to take our drink order. He said he would be back in a few minutes to take our order...45 minutes later and our waiter had not been back to take our order - or refill our drinks. The bartender walked over and asked if she could refill our drinks. The restaurant started filling up and other tables who shared the same waiter as us were getting their drinks, appetizers, and meals. We're pretty sure our waiter forgot about us. Eventually he came back to take our order. Once our order was placed, the food came out pretty fast. Everything we ordered was amazing. The food and the atmosphere is worth a trip. We had a really nice afternoon at Beerhead. We chose to sit at the bar and Kristen was our server. She was great at suggesting different beers for us. They have 50 (!!!!) taps and a huge cooler of bottles and cans, too, with a really nice selection of local brews. The food was also excellent! The diavolo pizza did have some heat that snuck up on you, and the crust was absolutely delicious and crisp. The meatballs were good - maybe a tad too sweet for me, but I still ate them. My favorite was the brisket Mac n cheese. The creamy, cheesy pasta with the brisket and green onions was a delicious combination and definitely something I'd order again. read more

My wife and I stopped by around 1pm in the afternoon for lunch. Great service by Brian. We started with a Barbarian Pretzel. There is enough for 4 people! We took it home and used in two more meals. It was fresh baked and hot. Baked to perfection. They offer several appetizers making it hard to pick. Have to do the Pretzel!!!! We also got a Goodfella pizza that Brian recommended. He was spot on. We had chicken bites and fries and the nashville chicken sliders. These were good but neeer the nashville sauce on them not to be added afterward. We visited during COVID-19 - staff wore masks, tables were spaced appropriately, hand sanitizer was available for guests, and there was a lot of outside seating on the patio with high tables and low tables + umbrellas for the sunny afternoon. The hubby and I met a friend here in July while in town for a wedding, and he was so excited to share his go-to bar with us. I'd rate the food and drinks a 5/5 but the service a 2/5. For dinner, I had the Skillet Mac and Cheese with Brisket, Bourbon Trail Meatballs, and Campfire Pizza. The Skillet Mac and Cheese was gooey and flavorful, a dish that I kept telling myself "just one more bite." The Bourbon Trail Meatballs were lightly covered in a sweet sauce and topped with feta and green onions. Finally, the Campfire Pizza was a ridiculous dessert offering -- pizza dough covered in Nutella, marshmallow, chocolate drizzle, powdered sugar, and ice cream. The food was all very casual American in style but something I'd come back to have again. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. We arrived around 6:30pm and still didn't have a table by 7pm, which was a little frustrating since half the restaurant was empty. We didn't get a table until our friend went inside and schmoozed with his friends and got one quickly. But how long would we have waited if our friend hadn't been with us? Several issues resulted in 2-star rating Slow service: arrive @1:45 and seated ourselves by 1:50. No greeting or acknowledgement by staff walking by multiple times to other nearby tables- there were 6 full and about 6 people at the bar. Order finally taken at 2:10- too late for brunch items that are available until 2:00. We asked that both our pretzel app and meal order be entered and brought out together. Due to the delay in service, we were running close to being late to get to a commitment. We weren't back in car to head home until after 3:00 for our party of 2. Cleanliness: Tables were not getting bussed unless people came in the door and couldn't find a table which is concerning since it was self-seating. Who wants to go sit at a table that still has another party's food and drink leftovers even if it's the only table left?! Especially during flu season and a pandemic?! 3 of 4 flight glasses in my flight had visible lipstick residue/lip prints on the glasses so I had to send them back for clean ones- I've posted two pics of what one of the glasses looked like after I poured the contents into the one clean flight glass I received and had already drank. Food: just okay. The best part was the warm HUGE pretzel appetizer and sauces. My hubby ordered the Meatball sandwich. He's not much of a complainer about food, but he commented that it needed more sauce and was very dry. We also ordered the Hothead pizza with "light onion." It came with NO onion but was tasty nonetheless. The crust is interesting. Reminded me of the taste and consistency of the Jiffy box crust. It was bland, soft with a hint of crisp. This probably isn't so bad given that the features of this item are the spicy arrabiatta sauce, chorizo and banana peppers. Beer Selection: very extensive list. I'm a Butcher and Brewer (CLE) Albino Stout fan. The fact I don't have to drive downtown for a growler refill or when I'm out and have a craving, is probably the only thing that saved this rating from being 1 star. The Banana Bread Beer was also a new favorite I'll order again, hopefully with brunch next time if we choose to chance the service and cleanliness with a return visit. Patio: it's January so while we didn't sit on the patio, we could see it clearly through the wall of windowed garage doors and we walked around the side of the building upon arrival to check it out. The patio is decent size with several high top concrete tables and I'm assuming other tables and furniture based upon the large tarped pile in the back corner of the patio. Being located on a main road, in a strip mall and next to a 2-story furniture store, there is no ambiance, especially since they fenced only three sides of the patio and left the side open that overlooks the parking lot and busy traffic of Nagel Road and Meijer store in the distance across the road. It's too bad that side doesn't have a privacy fence too so that it seems like you aren't in a strip mall brewery. Adding some nice water features within the patio would drown out the noise- maybe they have these but they were winterized and not visible. Overall, the jury is out for us whether we will return or not. Being about a 30-minute drive from our new home, I'm thinking it is likely a "No" but we will go to get a growler of Albino Stout as takeout for sure when in that area. read more

Stopped in on St Patrick's Day as our final west side bar before calling it a day. I've been to the location in the Flats, so I was excited about this location opening. Our server explained the beer menu and answered my questions about making accommodations for my dairy allergy. Ended up ordering the Goodfella pizza to share with half no cheese, which was great! The pictures of the food looked great on Yelp so we tried it but when we got their they were out of most food items. We got the pretzel; it is huge and a winner. My wife had the sliders which she said were good but they looked over cooked and dry to me and I dont even remember what I had, that may tell you something huh? My son in law was brought the wrong beer twice. I think it was because the place was sooo loud. Honestly there were maybe ten people with us in the place and it was loud. I mean hurt your ears can't talk to the person next to you loud. They had the TVs on and that was most of the noise and they were waaay too loud. Did I mention it was so loud we could not talk? I have reviewed this establishment in the past and it wasn't a good review. I previously stated that I wouldn't be back unless a group insisted that it would be the meeting place. I was recently back to meet up with a group of friends and went in with a positive attitude. Unfortunately this establishment failed miserably Again! Whoever is the person in charge of this location needs to clean house and start over and put all employees through training on how to service a restaurant. I think that they just want to be a Bar and sling drinks (and they aren't doing that stellar either). It is a shame, this place should be booming but instead is mostly empty. The tap selection is broad and diverse. The look is clean. The pretzels huge and delicious (though very pricey). But the rest is pretty mediocre. Sandwiches are pretty average. The costs are high. The ambiance is noisy. In short, if you want to close the night in Avon with a craft beer and a pretzel, I'd definitely recommend this place. Otherwise it's kind of Meh. read more
