This place is very slow. For the wait, you'd expect to be delivered a Burger 21 sandwich, but no. Waited in line for 30 minutes to have my entire order messed up. Came back the next day to have it replaced when the Restaurant Manager Hugh claimed my receipts were not mine that they were "gift card receipts". He realized he was wrong, he didn't apologize. Steak 'n Shake is a great place for cheap fast food that hot, delicious and greasy--in all the right ways. However I only give them 2 stars because for starters, if you go through the drive-thru there is at least a 50% chance they will forget items in your order. Make sure you always check your bag before driving away. I went back through to get the 2 orders of fries and the sauce they forgot and they still managed to only give me one order of fries and no sauce. By this time there were a few more cars in line, so I didn't have anymore time to wait. This also bring me to my next point, the drive-thru takes a lot longer than other drive-thru's would so don't go if you're in a big rush unless it's empty. I do like their dine-in style now where you order on a kiosk and then the food is brought to your table. Every single time I come to this location, either there is an incompetent employee running the drive thru or the food takes between 20 - 30 minutes to come out, and that's not during their lunch time. The burger was alright, and the service was awkward. In fairness we came in after 11pm and had never been there before, so every part of the process was awkward and confusing. So, I love steak and shake. For cheap food, it's pretty good. Love the Nutella shake and cheese fries. Here's my gripe... Every time I come here, the drive-through line takes forever. Food and milkshakes are always good here but the service is the slowest I have ever seen. Today I placed a mobile order for two milkshakes and it took 31 minutes to get it from the time I ordered. I have avoided this place in the past for the lousy service, but boy, have thingschanged.They may have a new manager and staff because the service was on point. We attempted to eat here the other night, was seated at a table and after 15 minutes still had not even gotten a drink order in and with a thirsty 3 year old with us. We ended up leaving and going to another restaurant, manager saw us leave didn't say anything to us, no staff ever acknowledged us to say "be right with you or anything". Steak 'n Shake burgers are always good. And you definitely cannot beat the value, especially during happy hour. However, with this location specifically, the drive thru is absolutely AWFUL. One time, in the middle of the day, I drove up to the ordering speaker, and no one answered, after several attempts, I drove up to the window, and no one was there either, during COVID, so dine-in was not open. It was very frustrating. In usual circumstances, the drive thru person throws open the window, grabs your card. And proceeds to throw your food at you without any words at all. You have one simple question, and they say " let me get a manager" and the Managers are no help either. Keep in mind, apparently, their drive-thru prices are different from dine in. And they're very particular with your wording. They told me because I ordered a milkshake during happy hour with my meal, it wouldn't count as the happy hour. But it's not just an up charge, they charge full price for it... but it doesn't count as happy hour. It doesn't make sense AT ALL. Yes, I agree. Jade is a good server. We eat here every week with a love hate relationship with this place. Most of the time the food is decent, but sometimes it's not. Tonight we got a young man named Tony to serve us. He asked us if we would take the small booth or would we prefer the larger booth. I said larger is better for me, he repeated back to me Larger". Then proceeded to clean off the small booth and seat us there anyway. I said you are bound and determined to make me climb in that small booth aren't you. He just laughed and walked away. I could continue as it got worse, but bottom line is he was like brain dead. Came to steak n shake late at night after a baseball tournament. There were quite a few of us, probably 20 or more. The server did a great job in getting everyone's food out pretty quickly considering the number of people, although some work finished by the time others received theirs. *READ BEFORE YOU GO* If I could give 0 stars I would. This is not only the worst steak n shake I've been too, but the worst fast food restaurant I've been too. I regrettably gave this place a couple chances (only because I work nights and my food choices are limited) and every time my experience was as bad as the last. IF anyone answers the drive through be prepared to wait 5 minutes for said answer and another 20 minutes (even though i went between 2-4 am and theres maybe only one or two other customers) for your food. Half the time however, no one even answers the drive through or they put a cone in front of it (despite nothing being wrong with it, I once asked) forcing you to come inside. The food is always mediocre at best and the inside is never clean. My last and final visit I pulled into the drive through, waited over 5 minutes and when no one answered I went inside, asked why no one answered and was told the person responsible for handling the drive through lost the headset. I looked around after ordering and the place was empty. To make it worse EVERY table and the floors, honest to God, was covered in trash and old food. If i had wanted to, there was nowhere besides the bar to sit and eat. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. It had been awhile since I've been to this location. I'm so glad I gave it another try. The last time was not so great but this time it was a wonderful experience. I went inside for some shakes. They took my order right away. The employee named Charity brought my shakes out with a smile and even went above and beyond to hold the door open for me. Will definitely be back.
