Root & Branch is one of my favorite restaurants in Central Florida. The food is always great, the service is on point, and it has a nice cozy atmosphere. One of my go to items is their pork chop. It's always cooked perfectly, juicy, and packed with great flavor. I went with double vegetables to keep the carbs low. My date had the Korean BBQ salmon, and we started with the Brussels as an appetizer. For dessert, we ordered the fried bread pudding. I had to sneak a bite, and it was so good. We had a really disappointing experience here, specifically regarding how unfriendly the service was for families. My son was being incredibly well-behaved during our visit--not crying or yelling at all, just simply sitting quietly and playing with a small plastic toy. Despite this, our server completely ignored him from the moment we sat down. He didn't acknowledge him at all, let alone ask if he wanted anything to order--even though he's almost two and clearly old enough to eat. Wouldn't you want to make more sales and offer food to everyone even if you didn't think they were old enough? When we ordered, we got an appetizer, two adult entrées, and a kids' meal. The kitchen timing was completely backwards. The kids' meal came out first, well before our appetizer even arrived. To make matters worse, the toddler's smash burger wasn't even cooked well-done (aren't smash burgers supposed to be inherently well-done due to how they are cooked?). By the time the adult entrées finally arrived--nearly 40 minutes later--my meal wasn't even hot. The fried green tomatoes that we got were disappointing, nothing special, especially for how pricy they were. When I brought up that my meal was cold and that my son's burger wasn't cooked through, the response was incredibly dismissive. The server simply didn't apologize at all. No one from management and no chef ever came over to apologize or try to make things right. To top it off, our waiter completely refused to look at or acknowledge me for the rest of the meal after I brought up my concerns about the food. Toddlers don't have the patience to sit through a staggered 40-minute gap between their food and their parents' food, and eating cold meals combined with terrible customer service is unacceptable. Root & Branch Bistro Bar is a great addition to the Clermont culinary scene. It stands in a shopping plaza, so parking is not really an issue and the ambiance and service here is definitely on point. The food here is definitely a treat and gives a great twist on some culinary favorites. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend here. read more

*Hidden Gem Alert* So I'm not sure if this is hidden, but I did get that feel. We were in the area and looking for a place to get a bite and a drink and this popped up and let me tell you it was a home run.. It takes a little bit of looking to find it, but definitely worth the time and effort. Ambience is a chill weekend place for a white lunch, or drink drinks, but could easily turn around as a nice date night or family dinner spot. We had two of their fall, classic beverages, and plans to come back to enjoy their drink menu. As for the food, very delicious, we had the peach salad, which I highly recommend as well as the fish tacos and the onion soup. Our bartender, Ambar, was an amazing host! We came in on a Wednesday night and were pleasantly surprised by how relaxed and welcoming the atmosphere felt. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so we were promptly seated at a table by the window, which made for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. It's a small restaurant and can be a little noisy, however; it's worth the trip. I ordered a small plate: crispy pork belly, omg, the best pork belly I've ever had the pleasure of eating. We visited Root and Branch for the first time tonight and it was excellent! We had the crab cakes for an appetizer and they were delicious! For dinner, we both went with chef's recommendations- the braised short beef ravioli and the chef's steak and cheese, which was an elevated and amazing grilled cheesesteak. For dessert, we shared a flourless chocolate torte. We had a drink from their Christmas in July drink menu- Winter Wonderland, which was excellent. The service was also great. Upon our arrival at the restaurant at 6 p.m., we were the first patrons to enter. We ordered our meals: steak, salmon, and ravioli, which appeared to take some time to prepare. Of the three meals, the steak was undoubtedly the most exceptional, and I would rate it as the finest I have ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection, and the cut was just right. The salmon was satisfactory, but I am not a fan regardless of the cooking method. The meat-filled ravioli was flavorful, but it was undercooked and dry. I took it home and steamed it again; it was better reheated. We shared bread pudding for dessert, which was decadent. Our total for three meals, a glass of Pinot Noir, and one dessert was approximately $130, excluding a tip a. Fantastic restaurant. Top notch chef. Started off with the Fashion Nut, a deliciously doctored Old Fashioned. Wife had the Spa Cocktail. Next, on to the Fried Brussels Sprouts, and Fried Green Tomatoes for appetizers. (whoa! recommend). I enjoyed the Ode to Wilber, a tender tasty thick cut pork chop. My wife loved the rib eye; a 3 course meal with the Bread Pudding. We have never had a bad meal here; lunch or dinner. Food is always fresh and cooked to your liking. The staff here are wonderful. Root and branch bistro and bar is located in a shopping plaza type set up near gators dockside, and across the street from Home Depot off of SR 50. We made a reservation, but when we arrived, it was clear that we did not need to as there was ample seating. The atmosphere was definitely not what we were anticipating as it felt more like a bar set up that was converted into a restaurant. While they had linens on the table, the linens were incredibly wrinkled and not pressed which was a bit of a shock to us given some of the entree pricing. My husband got the Ode to Wilber pork chop. He did not like the creamed corn at all and did let the server know and the server did offer to bring him a secondary side, but he declined. The greens were OK. They had a little heat on the back end of it. The pork chop he really enjoyed and said it had a perfect cook on it. ($36) I opted for the barbecue glaze salmon. I love that the salmon had a nice crispy bottom and some crisp on the top. I do wish there would've been more of the barbecue gains as it was delicious on the pieces of the salmon that had it. The broccoli rabe was good and I enjoyed the purée that was underneath it although I'm not sure what it was. ($27) Overall, it's a casual dining location with decent food. read more

We came here for my husband's birthday. Although the food had great flavor, portions were amazing and presentation was excellent. The wait between entrées was too long this is my reason for three stars. We came on a weekday evening and it was fairly slow with a nice ambience and feel to the restaurant. Our server was helpful and assured us that the food entrées courses would be out shortly. I would believe to say we had to wait at least 25 to 30 minutes between each entrée served. We had the three course dinner which made our visit here a little over two hours. The menu options are great, and the three core special was an amazing value which led us to visit here. I went in alone and sat at the bar because I was getting new tires next door. Jamie, my bartender, and Riley, a server that took the time to really tell me about the dishes, were awesome. But no one at my table was raving about their meals. No one was saying "Here, you gotta try this". We were there on a Friday night between 6:30-8pm. Root and Branch is worth it! We stopped during a day of activity and had an amazing meal! The group shared the Lump Crab Cakes and Braised Short Rib Crustini appetizers that were sensational! I had heard many good things about this place and was looking forward to trying it out but it was a bust. The atmosphere is cafe like and very loud - the idea that this place has great ambiance is a myth. Service was OK but definitely not top notch, our waitress was pleasant but not very attentive. We went on a Friday night and it was not very crowded, that alone, may speak volumes. The food was pretty good but did not always match the menu, for example, I ordered an ancho chicken that was supposed to be a half chicken and was actually a chicken breast, it was good but it did match the menu description.
