    Menu June 2024
    Selmy B.

This is definitely a local historic dining restaurant. Servers know the regulars, what they eat and drink. Newbies stand out but don't worry, one visit and the staff gets to know you. On this Saturday in June 2024, we stopped by for what we thought as an early dinner. The place was hopping and saw only 2 servers with plenty of kitchen help. Food is fresh and they have daily specials too. On this day Tomato was the soup of the day, prime rib was available in 3 sizes, Jack, Queen, and King. Excellent prices too. Note: No horseradish available for the prime rib. Service is Southern slow to the point that our salad came out with our dinners. The wine is available by the glass or bottle. The glass is $8 with a full pour. Nothing fancy but it went great with our meals. There are some local beers too. Didn't see any other bar options. Plenty of ice tea and lemonade too. The menu list chicken, steak, pork, and exotic meats, which included gator, quail, catfish, frog to name a few. Entrees come with soup or house salad, vegetables, and a choice of mashed potatoes, baked potato, or white rice. For $1.50 more you can upgrade the salad to a Caesar. The baked potato comes with butter and sour cream, if you ask for it. I went with the Maple Pecan boneless pork chops which were delicious and had the grill markings. Perfectly cooked. Only negative was the plate was drowning in water from the vegetables melody of zucchini, squash, and carrots. Shame, because it diluted the maple pecan flavor of the chops. The potato was perfectly cooked. My husband went with the prime rib and said it was delicious. He still had leftovers because even the Jack was a full plate. Our server informed us the Apple Cobbler had been made an hour ago and was a good dessert. We took it to go, because honestly neither of us could eat another bite. This is a working farm and animals are seen roaming in the back fenced area. Signs are posted too not to feed the animals. The restaurant is kid friendly and the menu does include kid size meals. The decor is very rustic and game prizes hang throughout. The bathroom really needs a complete makeover for it really is nasty. The booths need to be reupholstered, and seem to add to the rustic feel. Overall, the food was good, the service bearable, the prices excellent ,and worth the experience.

I LOVE this place. Went for the "all you can eat" quail. Threw the towel in at 5. Cooked to perfection. Compliment to the kitchen. Very friendly waitress. Legendary place. Can't wait to come back. A+

The Elk chops were exquisite perfectly cooked medium rare, the garlic red potato mash was too. The sweet tea was perfect and the peach cobbler a la mode was the perfect ending to dinner. Service was great!!

Great prime rib and gator. Perfect service. Quaint atmosphere, more like a hole in the wall which are my favorite places to eat.

Is there a way to know if their ice machine still has mold in it?? I saw that it did in their health code violations.

That must be why they served drinks in cans.

However, sitting at the bar or in the back of the bar you can still have conversations without having to yell, which I definitely appreciate. And there are plenty of tables to sit. I think there were some ladies playing the Chinese domino game, it starts with an "m". Got to meet the owner Ray and he picked out a fantastic Cab for me, it was the Story Storypoint Cab out of California. Later I also had the Martin Ray and in my opinion it was not as good, but it was a heavier mouth feel and it had layers to it. They have a piano player Wednesday and Saturday. He shows up around 6pm. So they have free slasa and chips in the back corner most nights. On Tuesday the have tacos. And Tuesday there are meatballs. On Friday they have Karaoke around 7. If you like wine, or you are an enthusiast, this would be a great place to visit if you find yourself in Winter Haven Florida. They have buy one glass 2nd half price. If you buy a bottle and stay, it is a $15 corkage fee. We kind of did the math and depending on the pour, and their pours are generous, it is cheaper to buy by the glass. When you visit they your own math gymnastics. Bottom line, Grape Expectations, the wine is great. The service is exceptionally better. And if you like a mellow vibe with great wine. You won't be disappointed in this stop. Finally, shout out to Terra, between her and Ray we had such a great time. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!
