Went here tonight to pick up my free birthday shake and ordered another as well for my hubby. I used the app to place my order and it was very easy to use. It said I needed to come inside to pick it up. However, it was raining so I asked at the drive through window if I could just drive through so I didn't get wet in the rain. Turns out I could do it either way. I wish the app didn't direct you inside if the drive through was also an option like most places. It is a little confusing. The drive through probably added a few extra minutes but was really quick, even though I had several people ahead of me. My hubby and son enjoyed the shakes as they usually do from Steak n Shake. They said they shakes are very thick and delicious. I rarely make it over here but we all have enjoyed our food and/or shakes over the past several years of going here. read more

If you are looking for a great burger and fries made fresh when you order it and to your specifications, then the Clermont FL location is the place to go. The restaurant is always clean, the service is fast, and the employees are some of the friendliest and most helpful that I have ever encountered. If you love their shakes or want to give them a try, then go between 2 and 4 on Monday through Friday and they are all half price. I ordered from Steak 'n Shake and the estimate was 20 minutes, but I ended up waiting an hour. Two different Dashers canceled because the food wasn't ready. Instead of Steak 'n Shake canceling the order properly, they told the DoorDasher to call me directly and say, "We're not doing your order." They didn't even notify DoorDash that they weren't making the food, so support was still in the dark until I was 10 minutes into a refund chat--at the very end of that full hour wait. To be clear, I'm not looking for freebies or refunds--this is on Steak 'n Shake, not DoorDash. If the food can't be prepared on time or handled professionally, that's a serious issue. I would have been fine if Steak 'n Shake canceled the order directly, but the way they handled it was unprofessional and unacceptable. Anyone who's worked in food service would be frustrated by this. Let me first say that the food has been so good the past couple of times we've been in! The reason I've only given two stars is because the whole foundation of the restaurant has changed. There are no waitresses and just three big screens to order off of that are completely filthy. I would have to guess that no one has cleaned the screens and at least a month, as they are just covered in dirty fingerprints and gunk. That definitely made me want to walk right out the door, but due to the fact that we were so hungry we stayed. The floors feel very slippery and probably have not been cleaned in a very long time as well. There was not a clean table in sight and no one came out to clean tables the whole time we were there. The waitresses used to be the people who cleared and cleaned when customers left, but this new prototype has eliminated the majority of employees. What I did notice is the person calling out the orders had a lot of downtime and could have come out to multitask, but cleanliness is definitely not on the radar here. As much as I enjoyed how hot and fresh our food came out, I don't think I can eat in a place with this level of standards. I saw the manager working the grill when I was there and he seems pretty overwhelmed. I'm not sure if it's his decision to be so understaffed, but it's unfortunate because this place could be a total gem. I know we would have been regulars had the experience been different, but with greasy floors, screens and overflowing trash cans everywhere, it's not a place that makes us want to return. I'm hoping someone will reach out and acknowledge the fact that they are going to do better. If not I don't see Steak 'n Shake surviving, even with the very promising change to removing seed oils and using tallow. People should be able to come out to eat and feel like they have some dignity, but we felt pretty disgusted when we left both times (we tried it a second time hoping things felt cleaner and it was just a fluke the first visit- but it was even dirtier unfortunately). There needs to be an employee dedicated to keeping things clean around the restaurant and inside the restrooms at all times. Do better! read more

This is an excellent Steak and Shake. I got two items. Jalapeño steak crunch burger. It Was delicious and not too spicy but good flavor. I also had the chili 5 way. The floors were sticky, long haired chefs w no hats, napkins and trash x the floors while the staff stood behind a wall and just goofed around. My brother in law went to the men's room and said it was disgusting. Pee on floor, feces in the toilet and a sink that needed scraping not just washing. He didn't want to touch the door to get out. Have been in this location in recent months and they had excellent customer service. However the last few times I've been through the drive-thru, they have consistently made my orders wrong.
