This is a neighborhood Starbucks, and it shows. There were students, elderly men playing chess, families and housewives. There is something special about actually spending time inside to enjoy the inside of a Starbucks just for socializing. Service was fast, even though it was crowded and was able to get the drink I wanted.

Woke up extra bright and early this morning in order to secure and snag a holiday reusable Christmas cup! Turns out I didn't need to wake up at 5am... they had plenty of cups! I ordered the caramel creme brûlée and there was no creme brûlée taste in my drink. It felt sort of flat but was still tasty enough for me finish. At least I have a cute cup to make up for it! Bonus* the cup earns you 50 cents off any drink purchase after 2pm through Jan 6! Merry drinking!

I've been coming here for 20years if not more. The faces, furniture, and layout changed multiple times over but they still have the same customers. I don't know... but something about this elderly group that spend their time here makes me feel they're part of Starbucks and part of the community. This Starbucks has become more than your average coffee shop. You get the elders, the young kids after school and people in between. it's amusing to see so many generations at the same place. Coffee is same, service can be better but the people is what makes it be what it is.

The Build: I ordered the banana cream matcha, which features a rich matcha base with standard oat milk, topped with a heavenly layer of banana cream and tiny, mysterious crunchy pieces. The Flavor Profile: Taste-wise, the drink was absolutely heavenly. The matcha itself was wonderfully rich, and mixing in the banana cream took it to the next level, while the crunchy toppings added a really nice occasional texture. The only real letdown was the size, the cup was just so tiny for an $8 price tag. Even though the flavors were incredible, it felt a bit hard to justify the steep cost for such a small portion. The Verdict: While the major price tag means this won't be an everyday habit, the solid flavors and super fast, friendly service make it a perfect spot for a little treat every once in a while. The staff had my drink out almost instantly around 10 AM on a Tuesday, and since I live so close, I'll definitely be back occasionally when I want to spoil myself.

We got the mango matcha rain, banana cream matcha, and banana latte. For $7-8 per drink, you get a very SMALL sized cup, I believe it's a 12 oz. Although oat milk is the standard for the matcha drinks, the price for such a small cup was not worth it. For the drinks itself, not sure what kind of matcha powder they are using but it doesn't seem to be grade quality. The banana latte also tasted like milk. Interior wise, plenty of tables & seating. Great for a study spot with ample street parking. Overall, for the price, quality, and sizes, I unfortunately will not be returning.

On this weekday I came for the Jasmine Milk Tea. Last time this was under the Tea Latte section, but they menu changed and there is now a dedicated Milk Tea section. And also there is a Jasmine Latte with Espresso in it, but that is under the Espresso section. I was able to get it chilled but without ice. The lowest sweetness level was 50%, but I asked nicely and they estimated they could make a 25% for me. It turned out wonderfully, extremely floral, barely any sweetness so the Jasmine aroma and taste were the dominant ones. In the food side I selected the popcorn chicken. I can take some heat but only a small bit, so I asked for the spice powder in the side. I just looove the texture of the popcorn chicken. You can see in the picture that it's a very thin breading, almost not there, but the texture seems almost as if an invisible rice flour was tossed in the outside. Still juicy in the inside, and small pieces to make every bite pop-able. The chicken comes with a ranch sauce, though to me it's a second thought. Add a hint of spice or even have the chicken as is, no ranch is needed.

Cute and quaint is the way I'd describe the vibes. I usually like to take my drinks to go so I can grab a pain au chocolat at C.A.R down the street but sometimes I'll linger if a table opens up. They team up with different microbakeries on weekends to host popups, my fave being crumbs and flakes, so that keeps the pastry rotation interesting. My drink of choice now, having tried a few items off the menu, will forever be their gui hua (osmanthus) latte. No one can convince me otherwise. Everyone I know who has tried it, has loved it. While there are a ton of hyped coffee shops and cafes, this one is definitely not one of them.

Love that they have complimentary milk substitutions (oat/almond) and offer ice/sugar adjustments! Got the Toasty ($7) and it consisted of milk tea, espresso, brown sugar syrup, and cinnamon. It's nice that the default for this drink was oat milk. This drink was so delicious! The coffee was not too strong or overpowering. I really enjoyed that it wasn't too sweet without any sugar adjustments. The cinnamon added a nice touch and cherry on top to the drink. Overall, this drink was very yummy and unique! What I've tried: -Plain croissant: Some of the best lamination I've ever seen. Large and ultra flakey. Great even 2 days after purchase. Buttery deliciousness. -Pain Au Chocolat: Done very well. Still very flakey and chocalate-y. Melts beautifully when toasted. -Kouign-Amann: Great execution. Crispy but not soggy or too tough from the sugar brulee exterior. Nice hit of finishing salt. Interior was still plush. Delicious. -Almond Croissant: Good but not as stellar as the other pastries. I did enjoy the crunch of the almond slivers and appreciated that the toppings didn't weigh down the pastry dough itself. -Chocolate Chip Cookie: Very good brown butter notes but I wouldn't mind the cookie to be a teeeny bit thicker. -Ricotta Pesto: Delicious. Pesto was pronounced and filling was creamy. Heated up very well and pastry dough maintained all the flakey layers despite the filling in the center. The shop and parking: Parking immediately outside of the shop is paid meter. Free parking is available if you walk about a block or two down behind the shop along the apartment units. It's a short 2-5 minute walk so I'd highly recommend doing that if you can. Just make note of the no parking signs in case there is street sweeping or any restrictions but I've done this several times now with no issues. The shop is relatively small but has a good amount of seating with maybe two tables outside. I've been at different times and only once has there been a line that has gone out the door. Still, it was a short wait (about 12-15 mins). The shop also sells merch like t-shirts and adorable mini tote bags. They also have unique chocolates from different countries of origin for sale. Prices of pastries are on the higher end but they are very high quality given the sourced ingredients and 3 day process. You can actually see them folding and extruding the croissant dough behind the glass if you come at the right time! They have seasonal offerings and an option to pre-order online as well. Overall: Amazing quality. Everything you would want and expect from laminated pastries. Will continue coming back!
