Short Review: This location is in front of Macy's right next to Gaucho Grill. Friendly staff. Small store with limited seating inside. Long Review: I absolutely love Coffee Bean. Their coffee is better than the other chains. This is an average location in terms of decor and style since they all try and match interior and ambiance. However, this is probably the smallest footprint store I've been to, so if you're looking for a place to hang out and do work on a computer, choose another location. Stopped by this morning and asked for a layered matcha with no sugar and non fat milk, which I get in Glendale. The manager, Nelle, told me that they have the ingredients to make it but since it is not on the menu, she would not make it. She says that customers frequently ask for that but she always refuses. I asked her why would she refuse to accommodate customers dietary restrictions and she said that she will only prepare items on the menu. Needless to say but we walked out and went elsewhere. There were only two customers reading the newspapers and two employees including the manager in the store at the time so they were pretty slow. Not a good business model at this location. VERY disappointed with the management and lack of customer service. Would give a negative number if possible. read more

And yet again coffee bean and tea leaf lets me down, I ordered a layered matcha latte which I did not get, there's no vanilla flavor and it tastes like watered down matcha, I ordered delivery and I work on the same block, there's no way that me drink got watery from the time it was made to when it got dropped off, I asked for my sandwich toasted it was barely warm when it arrived. And not to mention I also added instructions to my drink to not add whipped cream even tho there no option to not add whip. The service was perfect -- she gave me room to check out the menu but offered help in choosing. I chose the mocha which was nicely balanced between coffee and chocolate. My wife and I stopped by this Coffee Bean today because she wanted her ice blended mocha from here. We came during the afternoon time so they weren't busy at all. The person working the cashier was very helpful on telling my wife to use the app so she'll get points. The cashier was assisting me and got my tea bag out of a jar with hands that just touched the register.. So I come here every morning after I drop my son off at daycare. Typically the baristas are friendly, they don't typically seem to enjoy being there, but they aren't rude to guests, which is greatly appreciated. However, this morning I had an unfortunate experience with an individual who was completely dismissive of my presence. After waiting for sometime, I decided to ask the barista for my tea (mistake on part) and he was visibly irritated and annoyed that I would disturb him while he was heating up food. He muttered an "Oh" and proceeded to pull out a medium or small cup to make my tea (I had ordered a large tea). When I had asked him if it was a large, he said nothing and proceeded to sloppily pour the previously made tea into a larger cup, and then add more water. Normally they double cup the teas, but this time he chose not to. And as a result, my tea was dripping, and the bottom of the cup was soaked with tea water. I also should mention that his interactions with the other patrons in the Coffee Bean was different than his interaction with mine. I have never met this person before, but he seemed immediately irritated with my presence. And I should preface that I was not rude. I greeted him with a good morning and had my app ready to scan after I had placed my order. Not sure if he was in a bad mood or just does not like my people like me, but this kind of behavior is extremely unacceptable and shouldn't be condoned. If you don't want to work there then don't or if you don't want to serve people like me, then ask another coworker to take the order so you don't have to interact with people who look like me. It's pretty simple. The moral of the story here is don't take your poor attitude out on unsuspecting patrons. It isn't fair. Because I can't give negative stars, I give this spot 1 star. Lastly, while there were three people working, the one that I had an unfortunate encounter with was a male who was about 5'5 to 5'6, with a 5 o'clock shadow and curly hair with what appeared to be bleach blonde tips under a coffee bean hat. read more

I'm typically very skeptical of coffee chain matcha, but CBTL's Iced Matcha Latte is a consistently delicious, reliable option! I love their iced matcha with almond milk- it's perfectly sweet and the matcha flavor is strong. However, I wanted to point out the wonderful people who work at this CBTL location! I went in today to redeem my free drink and despite my app having issues, the main cashier was still able to fulfill my order. I'm so grateful for their flexibility and kindness, and wanted to leave a great review to express my appreciation! I liked how this Coffee Bean had outdoor seating with a direct view of a busy part of downtown Pasadena. The inside is actually small and compact, so that outdoor seating is a necessity. My coffee was up to their usual high quality standard. The workers smiled at me when I walked in. Beware of parking though. Its all paid parking on the street, and if you are just picking up something to go like me, you'll need to park close to half a mile away in one of the residential subdivisions and then walk there, which is what I did. Lake Ave., you realize how difficult free parking is The Starbucks at this location? You get 30 minutes maximum. The Peet's coffee? You get 90 minutes with validation but then the meter goes wild and you end up paying $20 per day maximum definitely not conducive to working for a long period of time. Street parking? You get one hour maximum. And these meter maids are BRUTAL, they sneak up on you and attack on a bicycle! THAT'S COLD!!! This location, meanwhile, has unlimited FREE parking in the parking structure. I went to Trader Joe's on lake and felt like a little pick me up. So I stopped by for a pumpkin chai iced blended since it's back in season. I wanted to give this location another try since the previous time my drinks have felt short because it was just watery for an iced blended. As the girl was blending it, I had a feeling it wasn't going to be the right consistency since she had made "leftovers" for herself in a little cup. Right after I stepped out of the doors I took a sip and was so disappointed again. I'm not sure why but this location makes this ice blended like a watery mess. I've been to many other locations ie the one on East Foothill with a drive thru and I've never had a drink that was just pure liquid. If I wanted to get no iced blended I would have ordered the drink over ice. I ended up going hone and blending it myself with additional ice to get the consistency that it's suppose to be. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location again because you can only give an establishment so many opportunities before you get discouraged on the quality of the product. read more

It just goes from bad to worse with the same ole manager Nelly who continues to be so unprofessional, hostile, angry towards customers. Went into this location after being gone in Europe for over two months. I ordered a matcha green iced latte and asked the cashier employee if I could get ice for many of my sports bottles because my refrigerator had blown a fuse while in Europe and lost all function including ice. She asked Nelly who initially said yes. Nelly became increasingly hostile towards me telling me I'm never allowed to ask for ice again, instructed me to go to a market to purchase ice. She proceeded to talk about me loudly to her employee in front of other customers stating, "she's the one that writes bad reviews about me, she's the one that hates me, don't give her ICE anymore". When I called her out on it, she said, "you do write negative reviews many of them about me". She then took out her phone and filmed me standing with my water containers and told me she was submitting an incident report showing how much ice she gave me. She continued to film me without my consent in front of other patrons. I told her I would be filing a complaint with corporate. She spoke to me like someone who had zero class, no professionalism. I've never ever seen a manager to any store behave like this. She is hostile, rude, nasty to her customers. I can't believe she hasn't been fired as a manager. The level of unprofessionalism is shocking to any customer on the receiving end of just having asked for ice in sports containers. Unbelievable. read more

Lake is one of the worst places to be hunting for a restroom! Luckily, this tiny spot has one. Drivers around this area are a bit impatient but everyone manages to find parking around here. Make sure you pay the parking meter if you park on the street or you will be looking at a ticket with double digits Not for the claustrophobic this tiny coffee shop has bagels, sandwiches & juices. It's just like going to a Starbucks but with less people. Unlike Starbucks, expect to be paying a dollar or two extra from everything. Example.. a $5 dollar pressed juice at Starbucks will be $6.50 here. I'm writing this review because I am very impressed with the service from a barista. Didn't wait for me to ask. On the contrary. This is the best The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf location in my very biased opinion. Mostly due to the incredible guest service from Jose! Once, I came in to find that he had already started my order after he saw me crossing the street from the window! And from what I can tell, they treat all their regulars this way, which adds so much value and charm to an otherwise corporate business model. The location has ample seating outside, and the oak cabinetry and wainscoting make the interior feel very cozy. I used to go to Peet's down the road, but after I was attacked and spit at by an elderly gentleman who was upset I asked him not to pet my dog without permission while I was trying to pay for my coffee last Christmas Eve, I started coming here exclusively and I never looked back! I come here maybe once a month when I dont feel like going to Starbucks. Its sort of inconvenient for me to come here beating bad traffic on Fair Oaks when I can literally walk to Starbucks from my house. This location is actually pretty nice. Many seatings available inside and outside, clean and staff is friendly. Its not crazy busy like other locations so finding a table isnt big of a problem. One of my favorites besides Green Tea Ice Blended is Apricot Ceylon Tea Latte. I like to enjoy my drinks iced so I barely order anything hot. I love tea and subtle vanilla in the latte makes it very smooth and leaves less bitterness. A hint of apricot is very pleasing as it gives fruity aroma as well. Just FYI, CBTL uses powder over syrup like Statbucks. Other thing that is keeping me away from coming here is parking. They dont have parking lot available. Street parking is only good for 10 minutes front of the store. I mean it seems to me that many people park at the Bristol Farms parking lot including myself, but I feel like one day they can possibly tow my car. I love this Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! I've been coming here since 2007-08. I used to love coming here to study. They have enough outlets inside but can get pretty crowded. They have free parking in the lot just south of the store on Lake. There's this perfect countertop/bar seats at the front of the store that's great for studying if you don't mind being right in front of the staff. This is always my go-to spot when the weather is cooler so I can get my tea lattes. My favorite is the English Breakfast Tea Latte. Their Pomegranate Blueberry Tea Lattes are surprisingly good too if you haven't tried it. It's also the closest Coffee Bean to Rosemead, so I come here every chance I get when the weather is cool. I also really like this area/plaza because I have an electric car and they have a free charging port right by the entrance to the Macy's off of Hudson. read more

Best place to park is on the first floor of the TJ Max and Macys parking lot so that you can just walk across into the coffee shop. There are plenty of outdoor tables but only about 4 tables inside. Depending on how busy it is, it might not be the most ideal place to study, as the tables inside get taken up. The tables are also very small I could barely fit my computer (which I guess was all the space I needed) and not the most comfortable. Overall a good place to grab coffee, study, work, or meet up with friends. read more
