Okay, I'm not really a coffee guy, but I visit Starbucks frequently, both because my Wife likes to go there and when I meet people to talk over business. So, when I do go, I usually order something that doesn't taste too much like coffee, like a cold vanilla frappucino or hot vanilla latte and then I dump more powdered vanilla and sugar in to neutralize the coffee taste even more. This makes me the least qualified person I know for a review on Starbucks but I thought I'd mention the one I went to the other night because I had a better experience there than a few others I've been to.
The one thing I'm not fond of when I do go to a Starbucks, is that I believe all Starbucks shops are always too small in that I hardly ever am able to walk into one, grab a non-coffee-tasting drink and find an empty chair anywhere. I, like everyone else I know, have to take my coffee to go, or wait for someone to leave before I can stay, which may take a long time so they have not become my favorite places to meet people due to that. When are we going to have a Starbucks that is the size of a Whole Foods or something? That I would go to a lot.
I like taking my Wife out at night in our convertible sports car in and around Pasadena though and we found our way over to this Starbucks at around 9:45p because I thought since this particular one is not situated in too populated of an area, that we might be able to find seats. When we entered, this weird excitement came over me that was pretty stupid in the grand scheme of things that are really important in life, you know, first world issues that shouldn't even be issues in the first place. Anyway, that excitement was because there was actually an abundance of seating at this store that made me have to choose where we were going to sit and actually drink our coffee there at the shop. I thought to myself, I've found my new meeting place for when I have to have coffee with business folks as we approached the counter and ordered our drinks. The Barista on duty was very pleasant and made us feel like she was actually interested in us not just as customers, but as people too and that made the thought of being there even more satisfying.
While we waited for the very friendly barista there to make our cups, we marveled at the lack of permanent sitters and sippers that usually take up all of the available seats and quickly chose our perfect table to sit at. With no crowds to slow the process down, we get our orders in no time, stopping off at the ingredients bar to over load my coffee with more vanilla and sugar before sitting back down at our coveted table to enjoy our coffees together. The drinks were both as perfect as they could be. Mine tasted great, you know, for being coffee. Finally, we were going to actually sit at a Starbucks and relax while talking together......And that's the very moment that the very nice barista announced that they were locking up and that everyone had to leave. So, the only negative thing I have to say about this Starbucks, is that they close at 10:00p instead of the usual 11:00p.....Maybe tomorrow night. read more
