I've since been many times and I love this place. The Glass Slipper tea is my fave--a lovely cherry almond caffeine free blend. I'll pair it with a scone, the blueberry earl grey maybe being my favorite. (But they are all so good!) I come in here to write, and they have a good amount of outlets and seating. They do get busy, so sometimes I'm squeezing in to the last spot for a bit, but it does slow down if I'm there a while. They have a rewards program that's great! I've earned free pastries and teas, and it felt easy to do (unlike some local shops that take a loooong time for me to earn a reward). Anyway, I love Brickhouse and will hear no criticisms. I am gluten & dairy free. Their Menu board listed a few sandwich options one being bacon egg & cheese & another being sausage on a croissant. I asked for the egg,bacon & no cheese on Native gf bread. My boyfriend is vegetarian & he asked for a egg & cheese on croissant. Upon ordering the cashier said they typically dont offer substitutions but they will do them this time but may not be available the next time. Well, we got them & the egg was cold on both sandwiches. I still got cheese & I'm pretty sure my bread was not the gf option. (I ended up just eating the bacon & egg part & pellibg off the cheese)I know this because I buy Native Bread from the local bakery & have it at home. All around the whole experience it put a bad taste in our mouths. To the business--- If you don't want to offer substitutions on menu items, please post this on the menu so patrons will know & won't feel scolded for asking. Next time.... We'll just go for the coffee...which is always good!

I don't remember the guy at the register's name, but he was incredibly friendly, outgoing, and helped us navigate the menu since it was our first visit. The coffee was amazing. I ordered the Fireside Latte (vanilla and cinnamon) -- not overly sweet and absolutely worth the trip to the north side. My wife got a caramel latte with almond milk and said it was delicious. Their bakery items are very pretty, but we have noticed that some of the offerings (like the stuffed donuts) do not really have a taste to them besides sugar- which is fine if you're just wanting a quick sugar rush, but disappointing if you're actually wanting to try an ube stuffed donut and then don't get any ube flavor at all. Their display offerings are very good and always taste like what they say they should. I've never tried any savory pastries from them, but I want to on my next visit. They have coffee, hot chocolate, frappes, smoothies, lemonades, etc as well. The tiramisu latte is amazing and I get it every time I go since it's always when it's fall/winter, but an iced coffee or lemonade sounds so good once the weather gets warm again. Plan your visit for early in the day before their pastries get bought up! They stay very busy and our last visit was late in the evening to coincide with grocery shopping in Saraga so we could take everything straight home to the fridge. They were very picked over, but I got a slice of pound cake to snack on with my latte and a load of milk bread. The milk bread is a family favorite, so I recommend trying that out if you've never had it before. They also sell some super cute "accessories" on top of the display case and I bought "Happy Birthday" candles for my husband's birthday earlier this month from them, as well as some that said "I Love You" for Valentine's Day.

I was not overly impressed by the drinks, especially given the hefty price tag. My latte tasted almost exclusively of milk and there was very little coffee taste. The matcha was good, but there were some chunks in it. While we were waiting for our drinks, one of the baristas spilt a drink on the counter. I was very impressed with how the workers handled the situation. They made light of the situation and were able to joke about it. I really appreciate seeing situations handled well.

It is definitely in my top five, and I'll be returning just to have another one. The only issue I was unhappy with was the coffee service. I did not care for having to retrieve my own coffee. I was at a sit-down restaurant to rest and eat. That is the primary reason I could not give five stars. Having to serve myself coffee alone won't stop me from returning, but it will annoy me next time just as it did on this visit.
