I've been to the Salt Kaka'ako Starbucks location a handful of times, both pre-COVID and post state shutdown, and I have yet to have a good customer service experience here. I try to give staff the benefit of the doubt, but whether it's middle of a weekday or on a weekend, I have only gotten attitude and rude service. One example was when I tried ordering a sandwich and asked if they had any left for the day. The girl at the register sighed loudly and rolled her eyes and said she could check in the back. I told her never mind. Earlier today, I placed a mobile order and waited inside since I didn't get the notification yet that the order was ready. Once I got the notification, I headed up to the counter. At the same time, another customer came in and went straight to the mobile order counter in front of me. The barista automatically grabbed his drink and a straw and handed it to him. I stood at the counter after he left until I finally had to ask if I was in the right place to pick up. The same barista told me that I need to tell her that I'm there to pick up. (Because apparently you're invisible until you say something.) If you're looking for coffee in Kaka'ako or town, try a local place like 9bar or Manifest, where they have friendly, helpful people and good coffee. Or if you absolutely need a Starbucks fix, head down the street to the one next to Wahoo's - I've never had a problem there and the staff at least acknowledge you. read more

It seems the barista more often then not does not know how to measure a size of coffee. Half the time I order coffee it's nearly only half full with the whip cream making up the difference of the cup. If it's busy, your guaranteed to get cut short a full cup of coffee or whatever special drink you order. Terrible!!! Can not handle the pressure of making coffee, go and be a security guard and sit around doing nothing but walk around. read more

It's hard to find a Starbucks that gets my order correct, I find myself constantly looking behind to counter making sure my ice tea is shaken since I usually ask for thai. This is one of those SB that always gets it wrong, but usually it's the only mistake they make with my drink which is pretty good. The barista's work at a fast pace, I have always noticed the line out the door, they are obviously experienced. I ordered the coffee to go once for my office, and waited 45 minutes, I had to leave and had someone els wait for my order. I love Starbucks because I love my coffee. Depending what location you go to you can find great customer service and a friendly faces but not here. My review is based on this location. I always come here in the morning and weekends for my coffee. Expecting a smile or a good morning when I enter but no nothing at all. Lines do get a little crazy in the morning so I strongly recommend you doing a mobile order to beat the long line. Very convenient especially when you have to go work right after. Majority of the workers in the morning are so grumpy especially the manager. I will still continue to come here only because it's close to my workplace and the gym. Hoping for some improvements on customer service would be nice. Hopefully all the workers especially managers will get retrained on what is customer service that way we all will feel more welcomed and not the other way around. read more

The best part about this Starbucks is the space. It has plenty of seating for individuals at small two person tables and bar-ish seating. There are several larger tables for groups of six, maybe eight if you needed to make space. The wifi works well, the bathrooms are clean, and there's usually that calm Starbucks ambiance you're looking for whether you're studying, working, or meeting someone for some coffee. I've been here often, and most of the time the order comes out timely and correctly. Sometimes when they're busy (at typical times like in the morning, lunch time, and around 5 pm) the drinks can come out a little less in quality, however those time are not often. Overall, this Starbucks location is a great place to work or meet up at, and a reliable place to get drinks or food. read more

It was refreshing to see another Starbucks added to this area. Their store on the corner of Ward has been the busiest store in Hawaii, with an average line that goes out the front of the door. The location below the Consolidated Theaters isn't much better, so this is a welcomed addition to Kakaako! This store is located by that Sprint store on Ala Moana Blvd, across the street from Cutter Chevrolet. They removed that parking "arm" when you enter the parking lot, revealing ample parking in front around the new Starbucks. There is also a bus stop right in front of the store. The store layout is different from the other locations, but there are some similarities between the Ward location and this store. Both are designed for high traffic. As soon as you walk into the store, you are directed to the cashiers to place your order, but the counter space is small, unlike the location on Ward. There is a spacious drink pick up area at the end of the bar, and several tables and chairs (to wait for your drink). They have a smaller merchandising area for cups, shirts(different from the Kailua store), but they have a well stock refrigerated cases with sandwiches, salads, drinks, and their standard lit pastry case above. Based on these observations, I am guessing that Starbucks anticipates high traffic for mostly local commuters. This store is equipped with one public restroom. As reported earlier, there is no wi-fi for this Starbucks. Absolutely love this Starbucks! Not only for the friendly, knowledgeable staff, but also for the quick service and comfy atmosphere. I have been coming here since they first openned and have seen the staff smooth out some kinks...none now! Kinda wish this location stayed unknown still, even with the increase in crowds, its still one of my fav locations...and I am a starbucks addict. Lol. For brand loyalty I enjoy my free refills. And for my free refills...come back here often. :) Those Starbucks staff at this Ala Moana Blvd location work their butt off! I just came from there and from getting my half off frapachino as well as my refill on my morning tea. Remember to thank your Baristas! The service here is awesome. They make the effort to remember your name and your drink if you're a regular. And they can J A M. This location can get very busy but I don't mind the wait. These employees work so hard. Props to you guys! Update: I still love this location. I do notice that they get new workers here and there but they're always so personable. I always walk in and I'm surprised they still remember me (maybe because I go so often hehe). It's safe to say that I've been to this location at least 80-90 times in the past 2 years and I can only remember once where I was unsatisfied with my drink. But that was only cause there was more ice than usual. I did notice a new worker that day than the usual staff but I didn't complain. The service I receive and the quality beats all. Oh! I can't remember his name but this dude really stands out. Tall Caucasian male with the brown hair. Always enthusiastic, energetic, quick, and ALWAYS GETS MY DRINK RIGHT. TASTE IS ALWAYS ON POINT. He even remembers what I get (which most times isn't the basic iced caramel macchiato). As busy as it gets, when he's working the bar by himself it's just mesmerizing to watch him work. My poor rating, is NOT a reflection of the awesome crew & service at this Starbucks location (one of my favorites). This location has an exceptionally friendly team! However, yesterday was a holiday and me and a friend spent several hours at this Starbucks, chatting and doing some school work. The parking lot is relatively empty as most of the retail spaces are vacant. While the stalls are marked "1-Hour" it didn't seem like a big deal since the lot has tons of spaces. As we were leaving, we were approached by a parking attendent who had left us a ticket for being there longer than an hour. He was a mildly aggressive in his tone and attitude; walked right into my personal space to where I had to take a step back. (Trust me, I'm not that sensitive) I think for some people it would have been scary. When I asked him if there was somewhere else to park (knowing most Starbucks sessions are longer than an hour) he said, "I don't care about Starbucks, or where you park -- just not here for more than an hour" Humph....guess this isn't the "normal" Starbucks we know and love. Starting this review with a tip: download the Starbucks app, register, etc. --comes with a lot of perks! My most fave perks are free bday drinks, free refills (tea, brewed coffee only) when staying in store, mobile ordering, and getting stars that can also earn you free drinks!! So I live right across this Starbucks, basically been here many many times. Customer service: many times that I've been here during slow hours--evening/night. I haven't been greeted once :( maybe it's something they should work on, but the customer service isn't HORRIBLE. I mean, like anyone having a long day, sometimes it gets to you. You can see it in their faces that they've had a long day lol! But the people working here are friendly overall. There are a lot of places to sit & study. Absolutely--smartly offers a pairing with my beverage. The cleanliness of this location is pretty amazing considering the amount of traffic they get on the daily. The restrooms are key--awesome when you're holding an impromptu meet up. Parking seems daunting now that Salt Kaka'ako has taken over, yet, it's really not. First hour is free--HOORAY! Went here after a walk through with my coworker. I bought their smoked turkey protein box, a venti mocha frapp, and a venti hot bold coffee. I was incredibly disappointed in my Mocha Frappuccino. It was watery and it was like shave ice when you drink and all the syrup comes up and the ice is left. I asked for no whip and with mocha walls... the mocha wall was the only thing I could taste. I hope this write up will help guide others to taste their drinks before they leave and get caught like I did... this is the reminder why I do not go to this Starbucks location. This Starbucks proves that all Starbucks are not created equal. I'm not sure if its a short staffing issue, an issue regarding how staff is trained, or a case of disgruntled baristas but this store is like the Bermuda Triangle of Starbucks, once you go in, there's not a guarantee you're going to get out, and yet I find myself going back again and again like a neglected woman. On more than one occasion I've found myself waiting over twenty minutes for a drink order (sometimes as simple as an iced coffee). I've recently caught on to the phenomenon of "Starbucks will make me extremely late for work" and started just getting coffee that requires no use of the espresso machines, and still I cannot get out of the store in a reasonable time frame. Granted, there are some mornings that the line is wrapped around the store, however one would think that a) they would have an additional cashier on morning rush and b) they would have an additional barista or two making orders that require espresso. I keep coming back since this Starbucks is the most easily accessible on my way into the office without me having to make a ton of left turns across Ala Moana Blvd, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to start using vacation time soon just to get a latte. Starbucks, please please step up your game.... There's about 30 caffeine deprived souls needing you to keep our eyes open Monday through Friday at about 6:15am. read more

***Pre COVID-19 Visit*** This is a really nice Starbucks location and the baristas are very friendly. There is good seating area in the back and great to just kick back and chill on a nice day. You can walk around and check out the nearby shops which is what makes this Starbucks that much better. Be aware that there is a time limit on the parking stalls so come prepared. Sometimes they get screwed up so it's quite possible you may not be getting out of the parking lot as soon as you'd like so plan ahead. Mahalo! read more

The short and fat girl with blone hair wearing glasses who call herself manager was really rude and unprofessional. I came here to order my drinks as I almost drink here everyday, and she change the price of my drink and add on it more money when I pay at the cashier and said that her policy. Well, I drink here every single day so I know how much my drink worth and every others staff were really nice ti me, except only her with grumpy face and bad attitude. When i told her please do it faster a bit cause I have to go as well as parking very busy, so seem like don't want to make order and ask me 5 times to cancel it. It's unacceptable for Starbuck customers services, especially I'm a loyalty customer and have golm membership. She really need to rethinking about her attitude and educated herself by conducting a new training courses. This is a nice store. They have floor to ceiling windows on three sides that let in lots of light. There's plenty of counter seating along the walls, some single chairs, a couple of four top tables, and a communal table with outlets to plug in your laptop. At midday there wasn't much of a crowd so this looks like a good Starbucks to sit and linger after lunch or do some work outside the office. I tried to get the Our Kakaako WiFi but the network did not show on my phone while I was in the store. Hopefully that changes. The Starbucks staff were very friendly. I like having separate restrooms for men and women but it's not convenient to need a code to unlock the door. It's not encouraging when the staff says there are problems with vandalism so they change the code every month. I'm guessing the problems occur after it gets dark or when there are events in the area. read more

No other store around to buy tea from. 1.5 stars, because little easier to get parking than the Auahi/Ward location. Service as usual not great, I ordered tea, I'm sure it's premade, they just need to pour it from a container, not go pick the leaves and brew it. 1 star for time to get drink.
