I don't know why the average reviews are so bad here. I think it's clean, convenient, and the baristas were always friendly. One time, my kid ordered something and the barista took his order but heard him wrong. When the drink was ready, my son pointed to the picture of the thing he wanted and it looked different, so we asked about it and the barista was so nice to remake the correct drink. There was one word in the drink name that the barista didn't hear my son say, that's why the drink was different. But it's maybe because my son is shy and spoke too softly. I thought they were super nice about the situation. We love coming here every now and then for a treat. WiFi always worked fine when we're here, which is helpful when I was working remotely from Starbucks. read more

I stopped by the Starbucks on Sycamore in Hercules early this morning, around 6:15 AM, and ordered ahead on the app. My drink, a grande pumpkin spice latte (which was delicious), was ready right when I arrived. What really stood out wasn't just how punctual or efficient the team was (though they were!), it was the small act of kindness that completely made my day. The person who prepared my drink wrote "Good morning Natalie" on my cup. Such a simple gesture, but it genuinely hit me in the best way... it made me smile. The staff were so friendly when I picked up my order, too. One of the baristas kindly double-checked if I had ordered food, then handed it right over without missing a beat. Early early morning at work only to realize I have no coffee beans to prep me for the day. My local Starbucks opens at 4:30a so I decide to place an online order. My order is ready in 5 min, the app notified me and off I go to pick it up. I walk into the location. The two staff members at the register - young female and male - look up as I approach the door then look towards each other as I enter the door. I am not greeted with any form of salutation or eye contact. I walk to the mobile area, grab my drink and say thank you. I am received by a grumble. I get not everyone is a morning person - I definitely am not - but to be in the customer service business is not an option. A greeting as I entered and eye contact to acknowledge my presence would have sufficed. My drink is delicious and tastes just as I am accustomed to. Service was quick and my order was accurate. I just asked for a cup of water after I received my order & she told me to go back in line to have it put in as an order. So, I did and I waited but one of the Baristas threw the cup away that the cashier put next to her. So I pointed out that the cup was for my water & I was ignored. When I asked again, she told me to wait. How long does it take to put a cup under the water faucet? So I just said forget it & she answered "FINE". I love treating myself out to Starbucks especially for their fall foods and drinks menu. On Monday I wanted to order a pumpkin cream cold brew through the app but it actually said it was sold out at this location! I didn't go in person to see if it was true or not, but I ended up going the next day. I ordered a grande pumpkin cream cold brew, fox shaped vanilla cake pop, and an impossible breakfast sandwich. Loved all 3 of them. I'm not sure how long they've been doing this, but indoor seating is closed again. There's a sign on the door that they're only allowing to-go orders currently. People with their Starbucks and Kinders sat in the outdoor seating, but we didn't stay for long because it was really dirty in that area and it was making me lose my appetite. There's a sewage drain right in the middle of all the tables, flies everywhere, and questionable things splattered on the wall. Anyway, there were 2 young men working during the lunch shift and the cashier was so nice. The barista also made my drink perfectly as it had a lot of the foam! read more

This is based on an online order Hubbers put in. I was given the task to pick up our drinks since Hubbers was occupied with something else. No biggie. It was only a 2-minute drive from home (if at that.) I walked in and went straight to the pickup area and both our drinks was ready to go. What stands out about this stop is that I had other things on my hand (wallet and keys.) I was barely half-awake to figure out how to carry everything with two hands, but a staff member from behind the counter immediately noticed and asked if I wanted a tray. "Yes, please?!" Went to this Starbucks because I had a terrible experience at another location. Long story short, the other locations barista was a total jerk and I didn't want someone with such an attitude making my drink. I asked for a "cold buster". Is it really that hard to make? Cuz the way she responded was like as if I was asking for too much. If it's on your menu you should be able to make it without giving such an attitude. I didn't ask for anything extra. Anyway, the visit to this Starbucks was the complete opposite of what I experienced at the other location. Not only did the barista answer all of my questions about a new drink but he didn't huff or puff at me nor did he roll his eyes aaaaaaaand did it all with a smile. First, several months ago I placed my order on the app. I came to the store and the girls behind the counter were too involved in their conversation to acknowledge I was waiting. This is usually my go to spot before making the trek back to Sacramento. I'm usually in town visiting family and friends so I definitely stay awhile. By the time I leave I usually need a coffee to keep me awake for the hour plus drive home. Parking is usually easy to come by since it's a strip mall but at the same time, if it's a busy time, then it's pretty difficult to find parking. There's usually a ton of teenagers hanging out at the front so that's how you know you are near the Starbucks here. Right now, there's no indoor anything so all the tables and chairs are pushed to one side with papers/notices indicating that you aren't allowed to sit there, dining/eating area closed, etc. Ordering is simple. The workers are usually very attentive and friendly. I usually get greeted upon walking in. However, there were a few times I wasn't greeted nor did I feel welcome in the store. There were a couple of us that felt that way. I'm not sure if the workers felt overwhelmed or if they just simply didn't want to be there. Most Starbucks employees I encounter love their job so it was surprising to meet a few grumpy ones. These last couple of times I visited in December, the workers were all out of sorts. They couldn't really work with one another and then the baristas that were working on the drinks had to remake a bunch of them and I was only the third person waiting for drinks. It was the oddest thing. Usually they are the happiest people or at least they were really good at faking it. Anyway, this place always makes our drinks to perfection...perfectly hot or cold depending on the drinks we order...perfectly sweetened and/or creamy. I love coming here. I have lived in Hercules over 32 years and this has always been my go to coffee place. Well...no more. The attitude of a certain barista is beyond unprofessional. This was not my first time experiencing her. 5 baristas behind the counter all chatting it up while customers waiting patiently. I waited 10 minutes for 2 unwarmed (didn't ask) breads and a latte. Waiting patiently with several customers (11:45 am) and asked where my coffee was. I had been waiting 10 minutes. I was rudely told 'just to let you know the average wait time is 12 minutes'. Instead of apologizing for the wait I was spoken to in a rude manner while the other baristas just kept chatting away. This was my 2nd occurrence with same barista. I will not give my business to this location again. Too bad I can't support my little town that I love because of poor business attitude. read more

What appeared to be a manager ( older than young girls there) or supervisor came out of back to help with the long line at both the pick up and order line. She was extremely dismissive and unfriendly when I told her the dark roast ( in air pot at 8 am) was bitter and not fresh. She said it was just brewed ( which usually means too busy or lazy to brew a fresh pot). I told her maybe someone made it wrong and could she please make fresh. She ignored me and went on to next customer. We are full time RVers and have been to Starbucks all across US. I rate this down at lower end. I am giving the one star for the sweet demeanor of the other young employee at register. What we call "our Starbucks" in Folsom on Old Placerville rd. Would have made another pot in a heartbeat.
