To preface, I'm not a coffee drinker. I was getting a tattoo at Sixteenth Studio and felt like having a matcha, so I popped in during our break. The staff were so nice, the store was quiet and clean. I got the sparkling watermelon matcha spritz. It wasn't terrible, but the matcha flavor didn't quite hit the spot for me. I think it's because I'm used to stronger matcha, I usually have organic ceremonial grade. The watermelon flavor wasn't very strong either. It felt more like sparkling water with a subtle hint of matcha. I saw they had a plant-based breakfast sandwich, but since it uses Impossible Foods, I don't consider it to be vegan. They did have a vegan muffin, but the staff wasn't sure what flavor it was, so I passed on it. read more

Placed an online order for Peet's in Hercules. This Peet's is in the same place where the Safeway is on San Pablo in Hercules. This Peet's has a drive thru and it can get busy most of the time. Their coffee drinks are good(better than Starbucks), they have baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, teas, and stuff. I usually go there for the iced teas. They have a good dining space for people to have a small meeting, do work, or just sit down & enjoy your drink of choice. It's a great spot to put a drive thru next to a big grocery store off the freeway. Let me add the store inside is always clean when I go there and the staff are friendly and helpful. read more

Horrible experience several times...this location gives Peet's coffee a bad name...I've given it several chances but always very disappointed at this location, and I used to love Peet's coffee but this location has killed it for me...the quality of the drinks are always sub par and the employees here are always unknowledgeable and always seem confused and struggling with understanding the drinks and the system they use there...very disappointed at this location and management at this location. Just an example of this location's service: today (1-3-26) I ordered a horchata cold brew latte and the employee seemed very confused and took awhile figuring things out...when I finally got my drink it was a totally different drink with someone else's name...I was pressed for time so had no time to bring it back and get it fixed. This Peet's is nicely maintained. It's clean and has a welcoming vibe. It also has a larger than normal seating space. They have two entrances, just in case you walk over to the farther one and think it's not part of the coffee shop lol. The Peet's itself seems pretty good, and it has a drive through. It's also a large and spacious store. The parking lot however, is weird. There is a ton of traffic from Safeway that you have to drive through to get to the Peet's. Someone failed at designing the parking lot here for sure. read more

I was so excited when this Peets location opened up because it's within walking distance from my neighborhood but it has been here a few years now and it just doesn't seem to be getting up anywhere close to the level of other locations. Quality of drinks and quality of service has almost always been at a very low point. I would say about 99% of the drinks I've ordered here from the beginning were not good. Whether I order inside or in the drive-thru my drinks have never tasted that great. I prefer the one a few miles away in Pinole by Trader Joes. They've been around a long time so it only makes sense they're much better but I used to live in Pinole when it first opened and for some reason they have always been really good at making drinks there from the start. read more

It's kind of a mixed experience at this Peet's location, and I guess it really depends on who is working when you go there. I will say, however, that all my good experiences have been in the drive thru and most of the not so good ones have been inside the actual coffee shop. The staff working the drive thru are a lot more personable and helpful, than the staff in the main area who can be pretty standoffish, and lowkey kinda mean sometimes. The drinks are also hit or miss. I pretty much order a cold brew oat latte every time I go, and somehow it tastes different every time. Some days the latte is more bitter, some days it's sweeter, and some days it's creamier. They're always drinkable and none of the versions suck, but yeah, it's just not very consistent. Will I keep going? 100%, mostly because it's the closest coffee shop in the area with a drive thru. I just gotta remember to not go inside lol read more

I'm offering this review for many reasons, first of which is Heather the manager... An absolutely awesome representitive of the original company spirit. I remember the original store back in the 70's and Heather gets it.. I don't want to gush too heavily, but I do hope that under her tutelage, the staff will carry on the generous and kind heart that the company started with. I just wanted to give a shout out to the early afternoon baristas on Sundays because the past two weeks my iced lattes have been perfect. 5/5 to that crew (6/29/25 & 7/6/25 1-3pm). You never know what kind of drink experience you're going to get coming here. It's a mixed bag of really bad, really good or somewhere in between. One day you come in and have a perfect coffee, and the next day it's the worst coffee of your life. I wish the management could figure out how to make things more consistent. Aside from the drink inconsistencies, the staff are consistently friendly and well mannered, there's the convenience of the drive-through, and it's a nice place to come sit down and cool off on a hot day, or stay cozy on a rainy day! read more

Although Hubbers is a Starbucks fiend, he was curious enough to try Peet's. [He's always open to trying new things - proof is by buying (and enjoying!) Peet's holiday blend Kcups at home!] We had the pup with us, so drive thru was the only way to go. There were about three cars ahead of us, so we should be out quickly. Or so we thought. The wait was long - long enough to give us the chance to look over their menu online, so that was the silver lining of some sort. He was also curious how much their holiday blend Kcups were (to compare prices vs the store.) It was a few more minutes before we got to put in our order. Some kinda coffee for Hubbers and an iced matcha latte for me (with sweetener.) Hubbers asked for a chicken and waffle sandwich, "Sorry, it's a seasonal item and we're out." So, he went for the breakfast burrito, but we were also told it was past their morning hours (okay, that's our bad, we didn't realize what time it was.) Last to inquire about was how much the Kcups were only to be told they didn't carry that in their spot. Sheesh, so much on their menu they didn't have! My drink was good - just good - could have been better. The matcha flavor didn't pop as much as I would have liked. The drink was borderline watery. Eh, no biggie. Hubbers wasn't wowed by his drink either. He liked it, and that's as far as it went. So, I asked him that one important question: would we come back for a second run? HIs answer was a resounding NO. Indoors is quite spacious and indoor seating is provided . Most of the table and chairs are high tops and stools, but there are a few bench like seating by the wall. Outdoor seating with umbrellas are provided too. As for the drinks, it was quite average. I normally order matcha lattes in the Concord location, which is my favorite order, though this time we tried the limited edition fall flavors. Unfortunately the cold brew with pumpkin foam and oat milk was heavily diluted. Tasted like water and a little bit of coffee. There was a small layer of pumpkin foam, though when we walked to our car, the foam had disintegrated. The iced maple latte was okay, but both drinks aren't something I would order again. The cashier Haley was super sweet. But the one making the coffee, was cold as ice and absolutely silently rude. I ordered a cold coffee with pearls in it.. when I received the coffee there were no pearls. I asked did you put pearls in it? She said yes. I took several sips and had to ask another employee. The other employee said there are no pearls in this drink. But the one who said that she put it in just completely ignored us, didn't try to help us not even a smile just a cold shoulder. I could've stood there all day and she would've never looked at me, knowing my order was wrong. Then lied about it. It's so small that I hate to complain, but the cold shoulder and the rudeness was huge. I just want a simple refreshing drink. No attitude. read more

Coffee is not good I've tried ordering drive thru and inside. I love the locations in Oakland. The Alameda drive thru location is great. They forgot to give me my pastries. Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon for a quick pick me up. It's a little confusing with the lane for Peet's and Chase, but I figured it out, lol. I ordered a decaf iced latte with a splash of heavy cream and a brownie. The employee who rang me up was friendly. My drink was delicious. This Peet's atmosphere is unmatched, it's spacious lots of indoor/outdoor seating (great for when I bring my pup). It's also in a plaza that's very busy so I get a lot done when I'm here lol. Staff is awesome and they always have good recommendations on regular/seasonal items. I like that it's quieter than other locations, great for people who work from home or people like me who enjoy reading! When they aren't making my order incorrectly or having me wait a half hour for a cup of coffee then I can be sure they're shutting down the drive through while I'm in line. Seriously all of these things have happened multiple times including this morning where I am currently stuck in the drive through while they serve the cars in front of me after telling me the drive through is closed. I worked for Peets for 4 years in the 1990s and l still think they are a decent cup of coffee but I tell you what, Alfred Peet is rolling in his grave seeing the corporate mismanagement, careless baristas and bad customer service at this store. read more

This place is getting away with robbery. In drive-thru I ordered a Matcha Latte, then he asked if I wanted it sweetened. I realized that I ordered the wrong type of matcha and asked for a M Iced Vanilla Almond Matcha Latte. He said $7.08. I thought perhaps he rang me up for 2 drinks. I'd correct it at the window. I get to the window, I clarify it's one drink. I ask if the price had went up. "Yes" they tell me. Then she hands me a 6oz iced matcha. Excuse me??? I ask, "THIS is a medium?" When I showed the women with braids who said she was the manager on shift and refused to give her name she said it looked like it had been drunk, basically calling me a liar. When I asked that my drink be remade she refused to. Other friends and family have warned me that this manager is useless when issues are brought to her attention. The coffee here is great, the inside is relatively clean, food is delish, staff is usually friendly but they always seem to be understaffed, which leads to frequent drive-thru closures. The main reason I come to this location instead of just going to Pinole is for the drive-thru, so it's frustrating when they suddenly decline service and stop taking orders even when you're already in line.. and then you have to sit and wait behind the people who did get to place a drive through order. Welcome to the neighborhood Peet's Coffee! On behalf of the entire Western Contra Costa community that stretches far and wide from the Carquinez Bridge to the Albany border, we sure do enjoy having a Peet's Coffee with a drive thru no less! Not to mention having a huge airy indoor space that's perfect for hanging out and working on one's laptop which can be done in person, once again, and having a decent if somewhat basic outdoor patio area that is at the very least filled with a number of clean chairs, tables and umbrellas. I have to admit that on my many journeys up Interstate 80 when I saw the huge electronic sign announcing a new shopping center with a Safeway store and Chase bank, what excited me the most was the new Peet's Coffee location that it was being announced. Of course there are additional locations in nearby Pinole and in El Cerrito, but both of those locations are old news, not to mention parking at both of those locations are insane, and neither have no drive thru for easy access. I credit the Peet's Coffee company for making the announcement of the grand opening date of this new location via email to everyone who signed up for their regular email newsletter or their Peet's app. The fact that they were giving away complimentary 1/2 pound of freshly roasted coffee beans with any beverage purchase with your order on their opening day only made me want to visit even more. Of course, since it was a Monday, I seriously had to consider whether it was worth it to drive all the way out to the new Hercules shopping center off the corner of Willow and Sycamore Avenues, which took years to get approved and build once and for all. But I thought in the times we are currently living, why not get in my car and drive all the way to Hercules and support a new franchise choosing to open a new and much needed location in an area that could certainly use it. As it turns out, by the time I got there on a Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., there was nothing to be worried about as the place was certainly busy with customers, employees and managers alike buzzing around. Plus, I was more than happy to see customers not only outside enjoying their coffee drinks on their outdoor patio, but sitting inside in an area with comfy chairs and tables that allowed it. The line on the first day didn't take too long and they had a bag of coffee beans both grounded and whole beans, your choice, of their Single Origin Nicaragua Las Hermanas Medium Roast. Anything that's free with a check-in I'm sold and the fact that this roast had a nice milk-chocolate sweetness along with nutty and brown sugar taste made it all worthwhile. In order to receive my bag of beans, I still had to order my beverage and although the menus inside this new location of Peet's has all of their menus on television screens, which makes ready super easy, for some reason these new menus don't feature their entire menu, of which I had to go to my Peet's app to see what I was interested in ordering. Although I think Peet's Coffee is rich with flavor, I am always down to order one of their Ice Blended Drinks, which also are called Javivas, and were originally called Frappes, when they first came out way back when. Their Blended Ice Chocolate Caramel Swirl with coffee topped with whipped cream is creamy and sweet delight. This is one just five drinks they have under the blended coffee drink section of their menu, they also have two blended iced tea drinks and three blended iced coffee-free caramel, all of which are perfect for coffee lovers and shake lovers alike. What's not so perfect is that through the app and the menu at Peet's substitutions and specialized orders are just not possible at this Peet's location. Perhaps because they're still new or perhaps because this is a company-wide mandate, at least through the app you cannot make your own drink with you're own choice of ingredients. At other coffee vendors and other locations of Peet's this seems to be a right passage to specialize one's order, especially when it comes to blended drinks. They do have a Members Only special menu on the Peet's app but there are no blended drinks on that app, and when asked the staff at the Hercules location said it's not allowed to blend an iced drink off that menu. Hopefully this will change with time and experience. What is great about this new location, is that Peet's is going all out to make sure loyal customers show up with extra drink discounts and special BOGO deals when you check in on your app during a set amount of days. I can't think of any other Peet's location doing this for your grand opening, which goes to show that Peet's truly committed to this new locations, and we the local citizens should thank them and their hard working crew how happy we are to see them here thriving in Hercules with our loyal customer satisfaction. read more

The drink & food are your typical Peet's fare. However, all the employees I've dealt with do a good job of anticipating customers orders, and explain their various offerings that are not so obvious to non-regulars. A word of caution : the wifi doesn't work and my carrier only pulled up 1 bar on my phone... so don't come thinking you can use it to upload (or download) that important work project. I guess the work around is to pull the WiFi from the Chase Bank next door, which is not very strong but better than zero from Peet's. I am disappointed that they haven't addressed this problem in the past 6 months I have been trying them out. read more
