Such a nice gem of a coffee cart in the Rodeo/Hercules area. The Loony Bean is typically situated in Four Fools Winery, but sometimes have pop ups around other locations Rodeo and Hercules. The staff are so pleasant and I'd love to try out all their different drinks. So far, we've had the holiday lattes, which were tasty and had a decorative Christmas stick to top it off. It's such a great idea for a winery and coffee cart to partner up so that there are more drink options when you want to be at the winery.

If you happen to be in the area and need a good coffee or some great cookies, drop in on The Loony Bean. The iced aloha coffee is my go-to. Little gem at the edge of Rodeo.

A hidden gem in Rodeo! Plenty of seating in the area overlooking the scenic San Pablo Bay. Just a really nice place to spend the morning. As for the drinks, we ordered an Iced Caramel Macchiato and an Iced Aloha Latte. The Caramel Macchiato was delicious, albeit a bit hard to mix. I took the cap off and stirred with just the straw to get the caramel to dissolve. Bonus was they have lactose-free milk as an option so that my family didn't need to deal with my after effects. I got the lactose-free whole milk. The Aloha Latte was impossible to mix. I forget what was at the bottom (chocolate macadamia syrup?) but that syrup did not want anything to do with the rest of the cold drink. Because the drink didn't have the syrup, it was on the bland side and not sweet enough. I'm guessing this one works better as a hot drink. Don't forget to check-in here! At least the time of this writing, they have a 10% off Yelp check-in coupon.

When they finally finished the final stretch of pavement for the San Pablo Bay Regional Trail to Pacific Avenue in Rodeo, it gave me a more definitive turnaround spot for my bayside walk back to Pinole since I wasn't interested in seeing how the Rodeo sanitation plant worked. Presumably it works just fine. On a recent walk, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a feather flag sign advertising "Coffee!". Gee, that sounded good, so I followed the signs until I saw a locked chain link fence. I was convinced it was a mirage, the product of self-delusion. It took me a couple of failed attempts until I was finally motivated enough to find the phone number on Yelp. The owner explained he was open normally until 2PM on the weekends but that they were staying open until 7PM that day because there was a Wine & Whimsy festival. That was a sure sign for Jamie W. and me to try the mobile kiosk called The Loony Bean, so yesterday we first took our long walk from Bayfront Park and came upon an unlocked gate and a surprising crowd of people sipping wine and perusing crystals. At last The Loony Bean beckoned. It's a tiny space run by the friendly owner with his two grown sons performing barista duties. There was a pretty extensive caffeine menu, all one size, from which we each chose the $4.25 Mocha with Almond Milk (photo: https://bit.ly/3DyN3pg). Quite a warm, soothing and not too sweet libation on a broad patio setting that was a bit crowded due to the festival but not overwhelming. We decided to split a $5 two-pack of Vegan Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookies just 'cuz (photo: https://bit.ly/3j3jWRq), a satisfying complement to the mocha. So it wasn't a mirage. Just get here by 1PM on Wed-Fri and by 2PM on weekends. I will now. COFFEE - 5 stars...smooth, rich, and just the right size...and the cookie helped, too AMBIANCE - 5 stars...combined with the patio seating and marina view, it was an unexpectedly tranquil setting even during a festival SERVICE - 5 stars...the owner was truly passionate about his business TOTAL - 5 stars...I'll start taking my walks earlier now RELATED - Exploring this part of Contra Costa County? - great coffee - friendly customer service - hidden gem Went to Looney Bean on a Saturday morning. The Barista was super friendly and helpful when ordering drinks! I'm not sure if he was the owner or not but you could tell he enjoyed his job and coffee! I ordered Aloha Latte and White Chocolate Mocha. The coffee was taste was strong but not too strong, and the flavors in the drinks mixed well together. The drinks weren't too expensive either. The views you get while drinking your coffee of the bay can't be defeated! I loved the seating area and the wood tables. Love that Rodeo has this hidden gem. Highly recommend this place for your next cup of coffee!

I didn't need the coffee. What I needed was a change of scenery. I didn't want homemade coffee because my excuse was I didn't like the creamer my husband bought. We drove here, parked and marveled at how beautiful the scenery was (it's the same view as the trail next to it) and for me, the huge highlight of it all was the patio furniture set up along the view to enjoy your coffee and fresh air. I ordered an Aloha Latte and it came frothy and full of flavor, not one of those janky coffee drips. I was immediately a fan. Cute neighborhood spot!

It's been several months now and I wanted to give an update on the Loony Bean. I enjoy this spot and find all the people who go and work there warm and welcoming. They have different events all the time during the summer. It has a community vibe and has a diverse crowd that shows up. If you're looking for something local, follow them on IG and FB. I've been there for small local vendor markets, music, salsa nights, food trucks, and they even played the final Warriors game outside! Sundays they have board games for the family to enjoy. If you like coffee drinks, water views, fresh air and a good vibe, you should check out this spot!

First of all, LOVE the concept! The trailer is cute and their outdoor setup is adorable too! I happened to find them on their first day of business during a short walk with my mom in the Hercules Rodeo area. Found some signs that said "ESPRESSO" and was confused because I never knew the Rodeo Marina had coffee! I decided to look them up and check it out. The staff was super friendly and seemed super excited to be operating! I ordered a caramel macchiato with oat milk. It was nice and sweet with an almost unnoticeable dark finish TIP: they currently don't do iced drinks. But maybe they will in the future??? Either way, you should ask first On the days they operate in Rodeo, they are located right next to the Four Fools Winery, which I need to try soon! Check out their website to find out where they are gonna be that day!! I hope they do well!

Popped up one weekday in the late afternoon with my sister and we ordered the following: - Curbside Burger: definitely had foundational Filipino flavors (garlic and soy sauce) but with a lighter touch. I was really feeling the tocino and atchara on the burger. It definitely gave me a little shock since it tasted more on the "healthier" side of what Filipino foods could be if we didn't douse everything in so much salt and soy sauce (4/5). - Filipino Banh Mi: my sister ordered this and enjoyed the cheese and pork. She also thought her sandwich was more on the "healthy" side (3.5/5). - Lumpia: honestly, it was simple - not impressive but also not bad (3/5). Location is conveniently by the marina and next to a brewery. The truck is along an open road, and you can find plenty of parking in the little business park it's located in. Staff were chill, and food came out without a problem. Ambiance of the area is very relaxed, so I definitely recommend eating here if you're craving some Filipino inspired food while drinking with others at the brewery!

I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. Where are they washing their hands? This area is also pretty cold so if you go, make sure that you have a coat, scarf and hat. I'll never make that mistake again. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I'm sure that they will get there, but don't want to hang out while they figure it out.
