Not good service. I asked for a dozen & a half doughnuts and her response was "when?" And I said "right now please". She then starts assorting them herself. I asked if if can pick from the large selection she had left and she said "well which ones do you want?" She then proceeded to pick them and let me choose 6 of the ones I wanted. Then when I was paying, I pull out my corporate Amex as this was for a work function. She then grabs my card and says "do you have another card. This one charges me 8%. 8%" and just stares at me. I said "these are for a work function, but I guess I can pay for them out of pocket". I give her my personal card, she doesn't say thank you. Proceeds to charge my card and I sign & leave. I would stop at this shop when it was convenient. I stopped completely after a certain incident. Now if I need donuts, I will go out of my way to get them. My coworkers and I routinely buy donuts for the office. One time my coworker gave me money to pick up a few boxes. As I walked into the shop, there was a woman who asked me for money. I gave her a dollar. The older lady behind the counter chided me for giving the woman money. I proceeded to buy the two boxes of donuts with my coworkers money and then put her change in my pocket. I asked the lady how much a croissant was. I had a few dollars of my own and I wanted to make sure I had enough to cover. I didn't want to mix my money and my coworker's change. The lady once again chided me telling me that if I didn't have enough money, I shouldn't have given the woman any money. I was so turned off. Like she didn't know my situation at all. Who gets nasty with customers like that? The croissant wasn't that important - honestly I wanted to purchase one because I knew that I would not eat any of the office donuts. I prefer a certain type of donut that they don't sell. I looked at her and left without purchasing the croissant. I have never been back. My husband's barber is in the same complex. I used to come to this place as a young kid with my grandpa, and since we were in the neighborhood, I wanted to check this place out for old time's sake. I met the sweet owner, who's owned this shop for 37 years, so maybe she used to served my grandpa and me back in the day! Anyways I had the cinnamon twist that's not pictured but it was bomb! This place continues ro upset me . I gave this place another chance , i went in , no customers . I was looking around for about a minute . The cashier , the lady mentioned in my other review , was fixing the donuts . She saw me when i came in , but didn't acknowledge me . Then another customer came in . That's when the cashier asked me "can i help you ?" And i said "yes , i need two dozen donuts" . She didn't say a word to me , just started preparing the boxes . Then she says "they will be assorted ok ? " and proceeds to fill the box . In my head i was like what ? But i didn't complain because that's what i was going to ask for anyway . I paid & left . Upon opening the boxes , i realized that was the last time I am ever going back there . The "assorted" donuts were all glazed with chocolate, only one sugar donut & one normal glazed . Everything else had chocolate with different colored sprinkles or just plain chocolate . I was taking these to a meeting with adults . Only 4 donuts were eaten out of 2 dozens . Why would you do that ?? Assorted means assorted , not chocolate assorted . Seriously ... drive to Donut King , this donut shop LACKS in customer service , communication & taste . read more

Nice neighborhood donut shop. Doesn't have the BIGGEST selection, but all the standard donuts are here. My fave is always an old-fashioned, with maple or regular glaze. Mmmm! My husband loves the chocolate twists, and my son loves the donut holes. read more

Let me say that I am usually a huge supporter of local businesses and always root for their success. Small businesses are the lifeblood of many neighborhoods across the country. I was disappointed with my recent try of Neighbor's Donuts in El Sobrante. I stopped in to buy some donuts for the guys at work (not that any of us need them). I ordered an assorted dozen, and when I paid the bill it was 4 - 5 dollars more than what is posted on the menu board. I shrugged it off and walked out the door so I wasn't late for work over a couple of bucks, but hey it still irked me a bit, but I thought maybe these will be the best damn donuts I have ever had. When I arrived at work with the donuts, they were not fresh at all. Some of the donuts were stale, and the guys at work really did not like them. How could I tell? When someone takes a bite or two and tosses the donut in the trash, even with a cup of coffee. I tried a donut and felt like they were in the 1 to 2-star range. I might try them again in the future, but probably will try one donut instead of a dozen. read more

The owner found my wallet in the parking lot and called me at home where I was beside myself over all the card cancellations and online payment reconfigurations I would need to arrange, not to mention the anxiety in contemplating going to the DMV for a new license. I went to buy donuts and before felt they were more costly than other places. Never will go again as they charged me two dollars extra for a box!!! The sign said $11.99 for a dozen of glazed and never said anything about the box. If other shops were not closed because of COVID-19 I would have never bought from them. I will not return!!! I visited this donut shop this morning and the debit card policy is outrageous! Not only are you required to spend $10 if using debit but the store will still charge .75 cents for using it. How is this possible when most store owners are only paying less than one percent of each transaction. It should be one or the other, spend $10 or pay .75 cents. While waiting for my laundry to dry at BB's, I decided to grab a bite here at Neighbor's Donut. Place is pretty small, will probably seat a dozen. There's a television in the corner, next to the lottery scratchers machine. There were still lots of donuts on display at 4:30pm. The small Chai tea latte for $3 and half a dozen donut holes for $0.75 were pretty good. Service was friendly as well. I'm a happy camper :) read more

The chocolate old fashioned was pretty good but would have preferred my edges a little more crispy. The glazed was just okay though, more on the dry side. I wasn't expecting anything as far as quality goes for the coffee but it is seriously FOUL. I'm a "dunker" and couldn't even do that with the coffee they sell... I would have preferred 7-11 x_x The lady who helped me was actually extremely nice. This place is right next to the laundry mat so it's the perfect excuse to get a sinful snack. What a nice surprise! The apple fritters were nice and crunchy with a good amount of apple and cinnamon. The french donuts were light and not too sweet. The bar custard donut was too sweet. Went in this morning and bought half a dozen donuts. Price said $5.99, but was charge $8.40... keep in mind I just got regular donuts with your normal glazes (i.e. chocolate). I asked why was there such a huge price difference and I was told it was sales tax. You got to be kidding me. A 40% mark up? Good donuts for good prices + coffee is nice. Come here anytime we do laundry and the lady is nice. If you are paying below ten bucks, it is cash only I think, but they have an ATM in here and the takeout nextdoor is cash only so it works. Lady is nice and gives us extra sometimes. read more

I use to come here all the time when i was young. My dad would buy me a custard filled maple bar, and 10 glazed donut holes to go. Then, when i got older, i started LOVING their Apple fritters.. Seriously, the apple fritters are to die for. The side is crunchy and soft at the same time. The glaze melts in your mouth, and then when you get to the middle, it's heaven. Everything just melts in your mouth. Sometimes, i'll just go to the donut shop to get myself an apple fritter. Depending on the time or the day, the owner would sometimes give me a free one to go. SO NICE! Other items that taste equally as yummy are: -the french donuts. (chocolate, glazed, maple) -reg. My daughter and I come here often. The day is always friendly. We get the powdered donut holes and glazed donut.

My boyfriend and i went in around 230 pm and the whole shop is empty except for the one worker who is seated watching tv. She gets up to help us while we are deciding what donuts to order, i guess we were taking too long as she said something along the lines of "well i guess you dont want any" i found that to be incredibly rude of her. Best donuts in the east bay outside of KingPin's Fresh Donuts in Berkeley. I've known the owner's at this place since I was 8 years old... and developed a relationship with the family because the donuts were that good! Great spot! I recommend the Powdered Sugar donut holes... the french curlers.. the raised... or the chocolate bars. If my dad was still alive... he would yell at me for not mentioning the Chocolate covered cinnimon rolls. read more
