My favorite breakfast in the bay! Been going here since I was a kid and the quality has never budged. Their donuts are fresh and delicious, their sandwiches are consistently amazing, and their drinks are fire as well (Their thai tea is so good)! Just a heads up before I do my review about All Star Donuts is that they only accept cash! I never tried out this place until recently. I have pass by through here but never got a donut until recently. When I first try this place I was greeted right away. They gave me time to figure out what donut I should get. They surely got plenty of selection to chose from. 30 minutes to dine inside since they are limited on tables. I did follow the rules by sitting down, ate my donut, clean up my table before I left. I didn't give 5 stars because she gave me the wrong donut (Yes, I'm aware that sounds kinda petty on ny part.) I didn't realize until I got home.... Inside: This is more than a donut shop. Quick Summary - Coffee isn't sour - Cash only For the family, I ordered the bagel with cream cheese, a croissant sandwich with hame, egg, and cheese; and a glazed doughnut. For coffee, I ordered a large cafe latte. The staff was kind enough to ask if the sandwiches should be sliced in half. All of them were delicious, but my favorite was the croissant sandwich. The croissant gave a nice crispy texture when bitten. There was a whole chunk of egg with the white cheese and ham in between, and I loved how juicy it was. Even after a lengthy visit to Lucky's at El Cerrito Plaza just to maintain social distancing. I can't explain the urge. I don't think it's COVID-19-related. It just happens out of the blue, and there's usually an All Star Donuts somewhere close by to satisfy that urge. Or a Happy Donuts or a Donut Time or some other Mom & Pop shop where they make 'em in a deep fryer and put 'em out on aluminum trays behind a wide glass display case. Only now there's a sheet of lucite separating me from the manager. And of course there's the customer who can't begin to grasp the concept of social distancing. This is a family owned place that is THE BEST in the east bay. Its simple and its very fresh foods, all made daily and throughout the day. They make the best turkey/bacon egg cheese croissants and a super wide variety of donuts and pastries. Its very clean, family owned and if you call in your order, they are very responsive. The landlord tried to drive them out recently and the community was speaking up greatly and helped encourage them to keep them in the space. and with COVID they closed a few weeks and are now open again and its a blessing, they are so good and professional. And might I add what a sweet, lovely, donut-ty air it is that their golden rings provide. Since I was probably their first customer today, I got the freshest possible dozen of donuts. The shop is not big( 37 person capacity ). The latte that I ordered was a mix of pure coffe latte and caramel shot, it was delicious. I also add sugar bun donuts , that was fresh made. They also sell bagel as a breakfast ( different types as well). The lady who got my order on the register was very welcoming and nice. Clean bathroom , also neat floors. I don't go as often anymore (can't indulge too much) but I remember I used to go often for a quick sandwich or coffee in the mornings, and of course their donuts! I love how they're open pretty late, so if you just want a quick snack break in the afternoon you've got options. The coffee drinks were good, and the croissant sandwiches were really big for what you paid for (I had to split mine). The donuts though, are really worth: my favorites are old-fashioned and cake, and they've never disappointed. They're fresh, tasty, the dough is fluffy and not stale or hard. I've tried the Apple fritter and the blueberry donuts. They're both really good. I went to rainbow donuts the next day to compare, and these are much better. (The Apple fritter is crispier, the blueberry donut has blueberries in it, is lighter in texture, and has more flavor).
