I pass Rainbow Donuts quite regularly, located on San Pablo Ave in Berkeley. It's a pretty pink building from the outside and for a recent order, I actually chose a food delivery service instead of making it over in-person for my kiddos recent birthday breakfast surprise . We ordered two decorated donuts (we left a note that it was a birthday, and to choose something fun), hash browns, an egg and cheese croissant, and coffee. They were having a special if you spent x amount, your coffee was complimentary or in all reality, I think it came to about .25 cents! They chose the cutest panda bear donuts as the decorated donuts, and it was such a fun breakfast vibe full of all the whimsy. They included a bag with napkins and coffee creamer which was a nice touch. And omg, the egg/cheese croissant...so good! There is truly something special about the discovery of breakfast croissants at spots that don't typically market them. (See pic) but the croissant was hearty and layered high with gooey cheese and warm egg. The croissant was warm, buttery, and it seemed like potentially put in a press. Chefs kiss, no notes. I noticed you could add meat and/or avocado, but it was perfect paired down. All in all, a food delivery gone right! Hard to come by these days, and my first time ever executing a delivery order before 7am haha. Thank you for adding to a truly special day, can't wait to visit soon!
Solid donut selection! The chocolate with sprinkles was delicious. Simple but a classic. As was the case with their basic glaze too. My husband and I got the blueberry fritter and creme brulee donuts to try but we weren't impressed. Might just be due to personal preference of crunch for fritter and idk if we are creme brulee donut people lol. We def will come again for the classics and to try other fun flavors.
Rainbow Donuts in Berkeley is one of those low-key neighborhood gems that just gets it. I came in craving something sweet and left very happy--especially thanks to their Boston cream donut, which is delicious! The dough is perfectly soft and fluffy, the vanilla cream is rich without being too heavy, and the chocolate glaze on top ties it all together beautifully. It tastes fresh and indulgent in the best way. I was there on New Year's Eve, and they had the cutest themed donuts--adorable panda bear donuts and festive "Happy New Year" designs that made the whole experience extra fun and memorable. You can tell they put real care into both creativity and presentation. Beyond the donuts, the vibe is great: relaxed, friendly, and unpretentious. It feels like a classic donut shop where you can take your time, chat a bit, and actually enjoy being there. Whether you're grabbing a quick treat or celebrating a moment, Rainbow Donut delivers on both flavor and atmosphere. Definitely a Berkeley favorite I'll keep coming back to.

Got an apple fritter and a couple donuts. She gave us a couple others to try too. So hospitable. She packed up our box and bag and noticed we ended up with about a dozen extras on the house. Such a nice surprise! Their donuts are light and fluffy with tons of flavor. If you haven't been here, this should be your go-to donut spot. They also sell lotto tickets too!
God I love Rainbow donuts. I love this place. I been to so many damn coffee shops, super expensive, mid coffee... BUT HERE? god tier coffee for $6 with a damg donut. Are you kidding? So freaking amazing. Rainbow donuts is a blessing to the bay area. Thank you thank you thank you
Such cute donuts here! Happened to walk by with a friend so we stopped in. I loved the unicorn donuts -- those would have totally been my go-to as a kid! All of them were so beautifully decorated. We got Ube Crumb Donuts, and they were so good! A gorgeous purple color with crumb coating. They were so soft yet still had that cake donut texture, and the ube flavor actually came through! Deeply impressed. There's some tables and seating inside, though I struggled to find any napkins. There was no line when we were there at 12:30 PM on a Thursday, but I figure the mornings must be busier because not all of the different donut varieties were there. The lady serving us was efficient yet patient, allowing my friend time to decide what she wanted. Would definitely like to try their raised donuts next time!
Our new favorite donut spot in the Bay! Beautiful design, tons of choices for all the types of donut eaters, plenty of seating. Great service as I was getting donuts and they suggested half a dozen would be less which I appreciated. If you like donuts, just go!
Truly a staple here in Berkeley. Get there early for a good spot, get there late for their unique kiddie donuts. Belinda always greets us and is a joy to interact with. My favorite is the maple bacon donut in which you can never go wrong.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of cake style donuts, I'm more of a raised donut kinda person. Unfortunately, it seems cake donuts are the . Regular or vegan, I just haven't liked them. They're heavy, oily and not good. I have no idea what Rainbow does, but their vegan donuts are surprisingly good!! My brother got me 3 for my birthday and I wasn't sure what to expect. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! I hope to stop in and try them again in person!
First off the service here is immaculate. Everyone is SO nice and helpful. It feels like they hook me up everyday, but I think that's actually just their incredibly adorable prices. And I'm talking about fire deals for every incentive donuts. The ambiance is soo cute and honestly comforting since pink is my fav color. Donut wise- the cake ones are my fav. Today I noticed they make jelly/custard filled donut wholes for $1. They also have a creme brulee donut, ube donut, cute little designed donuts etc... go check them out!

Stocked up at Rainbow Donuts before a long drive. I enjoyed my toasted cheese bagel with cream cheese. Then I got three donuts, all of which were good. 1. Creme Brulee donut - A couple of bites before you get to the custard center, but when you did, the combo of custard and brulee top was exceptional! This was my fav. Very sweet, as to be expected. 2. Smores donut - a chocolate donut with graham cracker crumbs on top plus a big marshmallow in the middle. 3. Fruity Pebbles donut - some sort of a glaze with Fruity Pebbles on top. Maybe dip the donut further in that sticky glaze and allow the fruity pebbles go down the side or even all around? The donut a bit was too big and fluffy for the toppings. read more

What a cute bakery! Finally got to try this shop for national donut day and I was so pleasantly surprised. There was such a large amount of variety, it was almost too hard to make a choice. I went around 6:30 am, so I got to see the full menu. Everything was so fresh and it smelled so good in there. The donuts were just being made, you could see the icing still needing to firm up! I ended up going with a lemon blueberry donut and a creme brûlée (one of my favorite desserts!) Both were so delicious! The woman helping me also threw in a free chocolate cake donut for national donut day, which was really nice of her :) I will definitely be coming back to try more of their extensive menu!! read more

We come here a few times because they have donut holes and plain donuts for me. Ordering and service is usually fast when I've come on the weekends. Location is good and I usually find parking nearby. Some seating area if you wanted to eat there. read more

Very cute little donut shop. Stopped by around 11am on Sunday and we picked a couple donuts and they gave my 3.5 year old a free donut hole. The workers were very nice. I'm not the biggest donut person and I love an egg bagel so I tried the sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño bagel and it was delicious. I'm sure my toddler will be asking to come back often! read more

The sign outside caught my eye instantly ! Donuts are bae and I had to indulge. The price point on these were not that bad, I got an old fashioned donut and 1/2 dozen donut holes for $4. The donut holes were my favorite super fluffy and the perfect amount of glaze. I decided to enjoy my donuts there and they have a good amount of seating for a donut shop! I was in the area and my son wanted a doughnut. I found this place on yelp. There's only street parking here. It's a little shop but there's a few tables. There is a pretty good selection they do sell out of some flavors. There was a lot of different fun flavors. The price was okay. The doughnuts were pretty good but very sweet. My son really liked it. Ordered from DoorDash and had them delivered for a sleepover. Excellent donuts - nice crisp. Very well designed and packaged. Only criticism is that the One Dozen Specialty Mix was more of a normal mix. The specially designed mix was fabulous and a real show stealer! read more
My review is solely based on a Door Dash delivery. We got a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Croissant and half a dozen donuts. SO. GOOD. The croissant was flaky and chewy. I usually have to add some seasonings to my breakfast sandwiches and this sandwich did not need anything! Perfect amount of flavor and portion size. The donuts were great too! I didn't think donuts could be this good. I was not hungry not even really craving a donut, yet each one was better than the last. The first was amazing to start also! Workers are pretty cool and helpful ambiance is typical donut store clean enough to sit and enjoy a donut, but not overdone so people are packing in. read more
Dry , dry, dry. I placed a pick up order the day before I needed to pick up and the donuts tasted like they made them the day I placed the order. No way they made those the day of. Customer service horrible when your asking for your money back. I would never purchase donuts from here again. read more
I've never had a bad donut here...do bad donuts exist? Yes! But not here. Is it a foodie spot? Not really. Anything over the top amazing? Not quite there BUT I can honestly say that when it comes to Donut shops they offer variety, customer service, hygiene and a smile. Flavors are consistent. Rainbow has your ordinary variety but also speciality flavors occasionally like Ube or cereal topped donuts. My son's go to sport for decorative donuts that resemble unicorns and pandas. This is the second year he has made me custom order donuts here depending on his ever changing obsession. Last year was Pokemon, this year it was Roblox. Rainbow is a cute shop right on San Pablo off of University. Shop is clean, a few tables, a self serve fridge with beverage offerings. The actual donuts are house in clear glass, well lit, really clean and well labeled. Overall black and white Decorative with Pink, few cute sayings on walls. Staff has always been friendly, often gives my son an extra treat. Answers questions and when I had questions they could not answer they were kind enough to place owner on the phone. A Berkeley staple. Solid shop and people. Definitely a recommendation for custom donuts. We will continue to gladly go back time after time. read more

I've been working in the area recently and heard great things about this place especially because they have vegan donuts. I'm not big on sweets but when i do indulge, vegan is the way to go for me! Decided to pop in this morning for a breakfast option -in addition to a WIDE VARIETY of donuts, they also make breakfast sandwiches. Your choice of breakfast meat along with egg & cheese or for the non-meat eaters egg & cheese which was my choice. You can get your sammie on a bagel, croissant or gasp- even a glazed donut! BE STILL MY HEART! I opted for the flaky croissant- did not disappoint. They cook it to order and it wasn't too long of a wait considering there was a huge line forming right at 9 am. They are consistently busy which is a good sign. Check them out! read more

Yes, they have a few! They'll be labeled as gluten free. I can't remember the flavors though.

Yes! I go in the evenings and they still have all the selections and more and tastes fresh!
How fast do the donuts sell out on a sunday?
We sell out of most flavored and custom by 12. We usually still have some left after but just less variety. Thanks!
