Service was meh. Very hot inside the place itself. From what I can tell from the outside sign that is basically invisible... to the muggy feeling inside. There was a a lot of different choices for donuts. I had ordered a dozen of different kinds. Chocolate, glazed, maple, sugar and a couple other choices. The donuts themselves were very soft and squishy! If you want a crazy donut with fruit loops or Oreos, this is not that place. If you are in the area and want a quick basic donut, hit this place up. I wouldn't go out of my way to have a donut...

Golden Gate Donuts is a nice locally owned business in the Temescal area that offers more than meets the eye. While donuts are the main draw, they also serve sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, fries, and other pastries. The donut selection is solid, mostly your classic options, nothing overly fancy, but everything I have tried has been fresh and tasty. I got their cinnamon crumb glazed donut, cinnamon sugar donut, and donut holes, all of which were solid and freshly baked in the morning. Prices are about average for the Bay Area. There is a decent sized indoor dining area that is kept clean, and the woman at the front counter is always friendly and approachable. It is also a popular spot for people picking up lotto tickets. Service is quick, and while there is mostly street parking, there is a Churchs Chicken lot across the street you might be able to get away with using if you are in and out. They open early, which is great for anyone heading to work in the morning. Overall, a dependable neighborhood spot with a surprisingly wide menu.

Good donuts and ambiance - it looks and feels like a donut shop. Rough area and cash only. Came here around 9am as I walk through the door to the sound of a very harsh buzzer sound - I had already been awake for hours but had somehow managed to wake up all over again. Its was like the sound of some horrible alarm clock of an annoying roommate. The horror. Oh the horror. At the time I walked in there was every kind of donut still available. I hear the tiny sweet voice of a lady behind the counter. It was in sharp contrast to that horrible horrible sound I had endured earlier. like filled ones. Its like a little surprise when you bite in. I carefully study all the round filled ones and can make out all the various fillings. I'm like a donut detective and didn't need any help. Anyway if I did need help don't think I'd get any as I didn't understand half of what that sweet lady was saying. I'm not complaining - I'd rather have sweet and not very helpful than nasty and perfect English. I whip out of my pants a credit card. "Cash only." That I understood perfectly. I told her I didn't have coins and I seemed to instantly have my price negotiated down to the nearest dollar. I sit at the counter with my self serve coffee and donut I put lots of creamer in my coffee as it protects ones enamel. Tooth care is always a top priority and if I can neutralize acidic coffee with some dairy I always will. Besides if I'm consuming something sweet its all the more important. I don't necessarily feel the need to put all my dentist's children through college. As I gaze out the window I notice all the graffiti and rough surrounding areas. Some real tough looking people. Then I take a look a the lotto machines. I remember on the news the Lotto Fever with Powerball and super Lotto both reaching nearly a billion dollars. I see some scratcher tickets in front of me. Cute dog and cat with a little hat. I like that. Probably won't be my go to place although the donut and coffee were both very good and a fair value. I was really aiming to go to Donut Savant but checked and saw they were closed on Tuesday. Thank you Waze app. One day soon I will have to try that snobby donut place.

This is the local spot to grab your donut fix. Both the raised and cake donuts are excellent, both in texture and flavor. The cinnamon twists could use a little more nutmeg but I still rate it well. The Apple fritter is killer here. The prices are pretty good, the staff is really nice, and the community seems to enjoy this place alot. I've been about 5 times and plan to continue. They just started selling egg rolls which are also tasty: crunchy without being too oily so still light. Makes for a nice breakfast.

I love this little mom and pop donut shop in Oakland. The service is great, I call in my order before I pick up. They sell lotto tickets and the atmosphere seems to be local people that knows the cashier. It's definitely my favorite place to buy donuts in Oakland!

Okay, okay. So I pass this place often and never stopped by. The lady who works here is really nice. Finally got to try their donuts, they are super soft, airy and fluffy. I like to get the donut holes for my son. There's parking at the front and to the side. They sell lottery tickets, etc here. The Folks who stays seem to be the one that plays t he lotto to pass time. Its a good place to get donuts. Cash only.

Golden Gate Donuts is our favorite local donut shop. They have THE best donuts and THE best croissant sandwiches - yum! The donuts are always fresh and they have a good variety. The croissant sandwiches are always hot and fresh and are perfectly layered with egg, cheese and your choice of ham, turkey, bacon or sausage. We always get ham but have tried the sausage and it was delicious. The owner is super friendly and nice and it's always a pleasure to see him. I would definitely recommend stopping by for donuts, croissant sandwiches, coffee or a lotto ticket! We stop by around 1x per week.

I like donuts just as much as the next person. As such, anybody who has eaten their share of donuts over the 40 plus years on this earth as myself know that not all donuts are created equal. That being said, Golden Gate Donuts is one of the better donut shops in Oakland. I came here last Saturday with a few friends. We ordered a variety which included old fashion and regular donuts, along with an Apple Fritter, Bear Claw, and chocolate custard bar. The donuts ordered were all collected in a customary pink box which always means "treats" are inside of that box. (Kind of like how all Tiffany rings are in a blue box.) While donuts at many other donut shops are shrinking like Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm. Golden Gate serves their donuts fresh and serves what the industry standard should be for donut size. The service was very friendly. Only downside is Cash Only. I asked the owners what time they have to wake up each morning to make donuts. He said "10pm". So in other words the process begins the night before. Donuts are a labor of love for sure. And Golden Gate is sharing that love here at 4201 Telegraph.

    Lots of donut options :)

The lady at the counter was super nice and personable. She was easy to talk to and friendly. She asked if we wanted our treats warmed up but since I was taking mine home, she recommended to heat it up for 45 seconds at home. Thank you!! I ordered: * black sesame mochi muffin - nice chew, great sesame flavor, and not too sweet * churro mochi muffin - covered in cinnamon sugar, so good. Great texture as well. * banana bread pudding - looks so ooey and gooey! I took an edge piece because I like the chewy crispy texture. Love to return when I'm back in the area.

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

I also ended up taking my sister so she could see what vegan food is about. 1. My sister had the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was an absolute texture nightmare, the coconut rice was gross and mushy, the tofu was completely bland, the random spicy curry sauce was unblended & completely overpowered everything. Just really one of the worst burritos I've had in my life. She couldn't get past two bites before throwing it out. I also bit it, and I agree with everything my sister said. 2. I got the tempeh reuben sandwich and it was equally bad with bland soggy fries. It was edible and I finished half of the sandwich with a ton of hot sauce but I threw out the other half. I legitimately could not finish it. I think king oyster mushrooms would be a better substitute for the "bacon". 3. The donuts are AMAZING & deserve to stand alone. The lemon one was absolutely incredible. If I would've only purchased the donuts I would've given Donut farm 5 stars. There's a price range from $3.00, $3.50, $4.00, and $4.50. I think they're reasonable prices for how good they were. The only one that was okay was the chocolate coconut. In conclusion, the food needs a lot of work. I know this is a small business, but please taste the food that comes out . The sandwich was $18 and the burrito was $16. I never complain about the prices from small business owners because I love to support but it was expensive for the quality of food I received. The service was also okay, it felt like everyone was stressed lol, I'm not complaining bc I know we all have our days but this was my first time at Donut Farm and I wish my experience would've been more pleasant so I'd be willing to give it another chance.

The pickles had a nice crunch, and the "meaty" parts were savory goodness. Would def get again. The summer rolls come 2 per order; using a bit of lettuce of separate them was a nice touch. Slightly preferred the savory "fish sauce" especially after I soaked the jalapeños in it. The peanut sauce was a little sweet for me so prolly would have enjoyed more with some chili sauce. Yes, it's all vegan and yes, they've got all your sweet cravings covered. The classics are present of course, simple glazed and sprinkled little numbers that live up to the highest standards of childhood nostalgia, to more inventive flavors like matcha, blueberry, maple "bacon," or cookies and cream. Don't get me started on the apple fritters, which are the size of a dinner plate and loaded with soft, spiced apple chunks. It's hard to restrain yourself from ordering one of everything, especially because they really are cheaper by the dozen. Besides, when was the last time you had a bear claw? Or a maple bar? Or a Boston cream doughnut? Further complicating the final order is the incredibly kind owner, always at the counter, who's liable to throw in a free doughnut hole or two to reward such enthusiasm. Though it's impossible to resist the colorful magnetism of the front display, don't gloss over the other half of the shop's name. Soy-based gelato is made in house with rotating seasonal flavors, offered by the scoop or wedged into an outrageous doughnut sandwich assembly. I can only speak for the eggnog flavor which is of course long gone at this point, but I truly hope it makes an early come back. The flawlessly smooth, creamy texture is better than almost all prepacked options scooped out of a carton, and possibly one of the best in the bay. It may get overshadowed by the deep fried delights, but you won't regret topping off your treats with an extra frozen spoonful... Well, unless you've already eaten your weight in cinnamon twists. Not that I'd know anything about that.

I loved the crispy layers, and the flavors were absolutely on point. The Banana Milk Milk Bun had a great banana milk custard filling that was prominent yet not too overpowering. The bun itself was incredibly soft and had a topping that reminded me of a pineapple bun or a concha, which I loved. The Yuzu Meringue Bun was slightly on the sweeter side, but it was filled with a delicious, tart yuzu creme that paired perfectly with the crispy exterior. I wished there was more meringue -- perhaps having a layer of meringue in the center would have made it absolutely superb! Brown Butter Mochi Bites -- These were alright, but nothing particularly special. They were missing the signature mochi chewy texture, so they didn't quite feel "mochi" enough to truly be called mochi bites. Sesame Cookie -- Unfortunately, it was too hard and crisp for my liking.
