Inconsistent pricing -- the first time I went, I got three donuts and a black coffee, and it was $8. The second time, I got six donuts and a black coffee, and it was $18. The third time, I got two donuts, and it was $3.50, and was short changed a quarter (I gave a $5 bill, and received $1.25). I enjoy supporting small businesses, but after giving this place my business three times -- I won't be coming back. Regarding the donuts -- the maple glaze is very tasty, as is the regular glaze on the round and twist donuts. The chocolate was not good at all, to me -- I tried one the first two times, and avoided it the third. Not worth it. They were light and fluffy the first two times I went and had a faint taste of old oil, but the third time, they weren't as light, and tasted strongly of old oil. Not sure if they sell leftovers/old donuts and don't mark them as such, but this was my experience. I would say go early, and hope you get fresh ones. read more

It's simultaneously agreed that the Asian-owned mom and pop donut shops in California have the best donuts and Lee's lives up to that. As a passionate donut lover, the donuts here are DELICIOUS. Fresh, fluffy, and crispy in the right edges. I got half a dozen donut holes and a regular glazed, and they were soft and so good. My friend got the Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich and it was also packed and delicious. The Chinese food in the display looked good too and lots of people were ordering them. On top of that, the service and workers/owner are so friendly and sweet. You can tell this is a well-loved community spot. Looking forward to coming back! read more

So I come from the east coast where there is a Dunkin Donuts every half mile. So as a transplant, the lack of chain donuts in California puzzled me. Instead you have these local hole in the wall mom and pop-ish donut places. Still, I'm sold. Yeah you don't have a hundred donut varieties only a dozen or so. But they're epically fresh baked and yummy, the people are nice, and the coffee isn't larping as a milkshake. Reasonable prices also don't hurt. This particular Lee is in a strip mall off San Pablo that you might never pull off into, next to a laundromat and Salvadoran restaurant (review to come later). Superb donuts!! They're always super fresh (often still warm!). The selection of donuts changes slowly through out the day as they make different types, so it's really about getting whatever is fresh out of the fryer! They usually have a selection of yeasted and cake donuts, donut holes, plus some specialty donuts like apple fritters, cinnamon swirls, maple bars, and fruit tarts. If you want a cream-filled donut - just ask! They keep them refrigerated in back, and they are some of the best cream filled donuts I've ever had! Sometimes that have old fashioned donuts and blueberry cake donuts too! ...I haven't tried the savory food yet, but I've been tempted, it smells delicious, and I've been told by friends it's excellent cheap & greasy Chinese food! There are a few booth-style tables where you can sit to eat there. I appreciate the community vibe - I often end up having conversations with other customers in line or eating at the tables. So were I work I always see the guys eating fried chicken for lunch and I found out that it was from Lee's Doughnuts. Apparently, they have quite the reputation. So here I go getting the fried chicken and doughnuts. Well, ooohhhh chile! The chicken was really good. It was fried crispy and seasoned delicately but well. Now the only downfall was they dont fry the chicken to order. It was pre-fried and sitting under the heat lamp. It was warm but not totally hot. That said, it was still very tasty. The doughnut was so hot and fresh, soft and delicious. It was a glazed doughtnut and as good as the best of them. The Ham & Cheese croissant is HUGE & SOMETIMES good! I once got a croissant and it tasted liked chicken because they fry chicken there and it doesn't seem like they keep the food separated. That's all I've ever ate here. The location isn't so good (especially at night). Well... we got $2.00 fried rice (awesome - price and taste), $3.00 6 pieces of bbq chicken wings (price awesome, taste - very salty), 2 eggrolls (price & taste - AWESOMESSSS!!!) 6 donut holes (dunno how much but taste pretty good!), big twistee donut... Home of the fried chicken flavored donut. Man is this place funny, they serve fried chicken skewers, eggrolls and donuts. I have to say the fried chicken wasn't bad, and the donuts were amazing (if you dig fried chicken flavored donuts that is). But the doughnuts!!! Everything is so fresh. Even the doughnut holes which in most shops are usually older rougher dough were soft and fluffy. I am more of a savory than sweet person and I felt like the taste of these doughnuts was as good as the texture. Delicate and sweet but not too sweet. This place is two blocks from my house, next to a laundromat . It's in a small strip mall which attracts all the local thug wannabes, but it's pretty clean. I've had several rather greasy donuts here over the years, a chicken stick (which is really good) and a bunch of hot dogs and hot links.
