came in on a lazy weekend morning and ended up leaving with way more donuts than i planned . the display case got me. everything looked fresh and there were a few flavors i dont usually see at the average donut shop, which made it hard to choose. the donut itself was soft, fluffy and didnt have that stale texture some places try to hide with extra glaze. sweet, but not over the top. grabbed a coffee too and it paired perfectly. prices were honestly one of the best parts. with how expensive coffee runs have gotten around the bay lately, this felt like really good value for what you get. service was super friendly. the person helping me was patient while i stood there changing my mind every thirty seconds lol. they seemed genuinely happy to answer questions and make recommendations. the ambience is simple and welcoming. nothing trendy or pretentious. just a comfortable neighborhood spot with people coming in for breakfast, coffee and a quick chat. i actually liked that. it felt authentic. this is exactly the kind of local business i want to support. good food, fair prices, warm service and a relaxed atmosphere. already looking forward to my next excuse to stop by. read more

Yum! I stopped by here to grab some donuts for a work event and we had great feedback on these donuts, especially for the ube flavor cake donut. I'll probably be back! I tried some myself too and really liked the donut holes and this spiral style donut. Half way into eating the spiral donut I kept thinking to myself: wow this is the softest donut ever. And shortly realized it was because some of the dough was actually undercooked...Luckily I didn't get sick, and no one else noted that this happened with their donuts. I hope it was just a one-off. Not sure where to start, but even though there's a donut shop about 400 feet from me, I'll gladly go out of my way for this place every time. The bacon, egg, and cheese croissants are excellent. The croissant is lightly toasted, the bacon is crisp the way I like, the eggs are fluffy, and the cheese is melted just right. You really can't go wrong with it. They offer other meat options, but I always come back to the bacon. I might finally switch it up next time. I also tried the twist donut, which was fresh, and the glazed donuts were top notch. Ever on the hunt for the best apple fritter balanced with eliminating fried foods is such a challenge! . With a dentist appointment around the corner, I'm early and the shop is open so why not? Here for my first visit, the display case had a nice variety of goods still available including a strawberry fritter for next time. Here's the $3.50 apple fritter which is not super heavy as many I have had and I can see the bits of apple. The glaze is just right and not overly thick or sweet and the overall thickness of the fritter is good. A little more cinnamon would be my preference but overall pretty good. Definitely worth a stop when you are downtown and want to support a local business. Lucky me scored a parking spot just across the street. It can require several laps around the block depending on the time of day here and the parking lot is crazy expensive be patient. Enjoy! read more

Happy Donuts was our final stop, a few hours before his 16 hour flight back and I'm glad it was the last! We tried 3 donuts: s'mores, bacon and maple, and a traditional glazed. They were each good but the classic glazed won out for us. Prices were reasonable (gone are the days of $1 donuts but at least they weren't $4 each!) and they had a good selection of vegan donuts, as well as a full espresso and coffee bar. After a sleepless night, I woke up early and decided to get a nice treat for everybody at work. I opted for 18 donuts and an abundance of donut holes for my colleagues. The employee at the counter was extremely nice. I asked for her to select the donuts, herself, based on what she would recommend. The thing I like about this place are all the neat colors for the various donuts. Makes it look all the more appealing. Other than the 'thank you for getting donuts', I also got compliments on how fluffy the donuts were. It was only a couple blocks from my office, so I decided to try it. While it is a small shop, there are plenty of staff members to help all of the customers. Back when I had an office job, Happy Donuts was the go to spot for donuts in Downtown Oakland. But now that I don't work downtown, Happy Donuts is a reward or detour after I finish running Lake Merritt. So Saturday morning my wife and I stopped by to get a few items: Croissant egg, cheese, and sausage sandwich: it was a little burnt and dry. I didn't really enjoy the sandwich. Crumb donut, glazed twist, cream filled chocolate, and a chocolate old fashioned: Can't go wrong with any of the donuts here. They are all very good and fresh. First time in here today. It looked really welcoming with the signage and warm colors. Even had some community organizations displayed but the only really welcoming person today was the girl that made my sandwich. Tip goes out to you girly! My chai came in what looked like a large cup when I ordered a medium, all good so that perked me up a bit more. Looked forward to my jalapeños bagel with cream cheese. Running on 4-5 hours sleep because of my new job so little things mean a lot to me. Will try again, seems like just a long time running shop that's used to just seeing the same old faces. I was running early for work and naturally was craving a croissant. I put in donut near me and this cute little shop came up. It has very nostalgic 90's vibes so of course I loved it. They have coffee and espresso as well. I was very impressed with there full case! The donuts all looked extra fluffy. There was a legit mountain of donut wholes. Usually I don't actually indulge in donuts but I decided I would get a maple bar stuffed with custard. I am currently obsessed with custard and they remind me of my dad. The custard did not disappoint! I also got a croissant breakfast sandwich. It was huge, and you watch them prepare it right there in front of you. My favorite part is that they use a panini grill!
