I really hate to have to write this review but Cafe Da Fonk! needs to get it together:( Came here on a Saturday and was really stoked since I wanted to go to their location in SF but noticed they moved to Oakland and I happened to be in the area this day. Our orders were taken and we sat down to wait. There were a TON OF FLIES buzzing around and I kept having to wave them off especially when we got our order to the table, which honestly was gross. We were called to pick up our order, but only 1 of the 4 items was ready: Zadie's Masterpiece Breakfast Sando - Really tasty and enjoyed the biscuit it was on. Skimpy on the bacon, there was ONE piece but overall good breakfast sandwich. Next item ready 5 minutes later: Khadija's Slow Burn Harissa Hot Honey Breakfast Burrito - Really tasty. Definitely flavor packed and would order this again. *BUT there was an issue. Apparently the person that ordered before us asked for the same burrito to go...they NEVER got it and yet our order was ready. The person was pretty cool about it but they were definitely annoyed and gave us a look although it wasn't our fault. *The ordering system seems unorganized with the cashier writing orders on a slip of receipt paper and putting them on a stand by the kitchen. I wonder if the slips were out of order or fell and they skipped this persons to go order? IDK but they need a better system! We tried waiting for our coffees before starting to eat but then our food started getting cold...YOU KNOW WHY?... because the poor person that was taking orders was also in charge of making drinks. Having one person as cashier and barrista is NOT a good idea on a busy Saturday morning. It was hard for them to take a moment and focus on the drinks becuase people kept coming in an placing orders which means we waited for 20+ minutes before getting our drinks. By then our food was mostly eaten! Thankfully we noticed they had a water pitcher for free water which was a saving grace! The wait for drinks was so long that people that were already sitting when we arrived and had already eaten their food were JUST getting their drinks before us. HORRIBLE! I felt really bad for the cashier/barista :( Another turn off, there is no understanding on what to do with dirty dishes. Do we bus our table? If so where do we put it? We noticed people leaving plates by the water pitcher and cups, some put them on the long counter by the coffee area. There wasn't a garbage or compost bin, so we weren't sure where to put food scraps. There was a bin for "Plastic Only" but only the cup lids were plastic and the cup itself was paper, so where TF do you put that? We noticed a black plastic bin that someone had brought out from the back, so we placed our stuff in there but wasn't exactly sure. We tried to ask the cashier/barista but they were slammed with customers so we ccouldn't get their attention. IDK the place is just poorly organized and messy! There are tables for people to make artwork which is nice but on a busy Saturday it might have been nice to clean those areas up to allow people to sit. Sorry guys... *You need a dedicated barista! People waiting 20+ minutes for drinks is insane especially when the food comes out relatively fast. *Please clean up your restaurant. The amount of flies was gross and no one wants to swat them away from food & drinks. *Tell people if they should bus their own tables and if so.... *Make it clear where to leave plates, cups, garbage, compost etc. read more

What a hidden gem. We found this place driving by and am so glad we did. They are so friendly and the food is AMAZING. This is the best biscuit i have had in the BAY. It's super soft, buttery and perfectly salty and she even butter and jams it for you. The breakfast sando was a hit. The cinnamon roll was SO GOOD. It had cinnamon sugar on every bite and the kids LOVED it. They weren't busy when I went but i hope this hidden gem stays and thrives. We will be back(probably this weekend). She even makes her own syrups for the coffee. Try it and you won't be disappointed! read more

Friday 13th is usually associated with bad omens but for our March 13th, 2026 I had the good fortunate of grabbing brunch at Cafe Da Fonk! Unseasonably warm for this time of year, I sought a refreshing matcha and brunch with my partner of 3 years. Cafe Da Fonk had a lovely ambiance that calmed my nerves and adrenaline after our trip to the gym. The rustic feel of the cafe partnered with the soft natural lighting made me feel welcome. The staff was very kind and took our order. I ordered a Halal Zadies Breakfast Sandwich with a tiger matcha while my partner ordered the Mulberry Lemonade. The food came out in a timely manner. We enjoyed our brunch greatly and look forward to our next trip to Cafe Da Fonk! We wish you the best in all your ventures. read more

I was excited to see a new cafe open in my neighborhood, and I'm thrilled after trying it. Cafe Da Fonk had a homey vibe and friendly front staff that makes you feel welcome. The cashier was patient as we reviewed the menu up front and too our orders. We got our coffee, both of which were interesting and delicious, I got the poppy and my partner got a butter coffee. We both got sandwiches and they came out piping hot. I appreciated that they did not skimp out on the cheese on our sandwich, it was melty and plentiful. So far it's been all good things, I'm looking forward to my next meal! read more

So...this is my third time at Cafe Da Fonk in a week, and I am not ashamed! My first time was last Wednesday on a fluke. My friend and I had seen the breakfast sandwich on Instagram almost two years ago (I know!) and it was on our "places to go for brunch or lunch" list. When we saw the post on IG they were still in San Francisco and I don't get over to that side of the Bay often unless it's for something specific. I happened to be over there last Wednesday morning and thought about the sandwich, looked them up and saw that they were now in Oakland! So I grabbed my daughter from school and we went to try it for the first time. I had the brisket biscuit, she had the spam bowl and both were delicious! I'm very picky about lemonade, and theirs is one of the best I've had in a long time. Not too sweet or sour and very refreshing. Everything was so good that I came back the next day with the friend I made the list with for a lunch we'd already planned but hadn't decided where to go. He had a brisket biscuit and enjoyed his food so much he said he would also be back. I had the breakfast sando and it was as good as it looked on the post I saw. We also both had the adaptogen coffee with ashwaganda and enjoyed it very much. My daughter and I decided to eat out for lunch today and when I asked where she wanted to go, she immediately said , "No question, Cafe Da Fonk". So we're back, her for the second and me the third time and it most certainly will not be our last. If it's on the list, just go. Dropped by this spot to grab a few coffee on the road on our way to the gym. We didn't realize it would take over 30 minutes to get 3 coffee. They forgot our order and I had to follow up. The experience was quite frustrating - the barista was nice and said she'd work on it. But the miscommunication and mistake behind the staff made our experience unpleasant and our day delayed. No refunds or anything was provided. The coffee was solid. Got the 2 chaga-chino and mint motion latte. The chaga-chino tasted okay. Maybe we can on a bad time, and would have better luck next time. read more

This is a cozy café by the waterfront near jacques London Square in Oakland. I went in for some tea and it was served very quick and was delicious. They also have some food and pastries, their bread looks amazing so I'll definitely get it next time. The café is a little bit smaller, but there is decent seating and it feels very cozy. read more

A true Gem in Oakland! Great customer service and the food was bomb! A solid breakfast sandwich that rival's Devil Teeth's in the city. I got the masterpiece breakfast Sando with Tapatio Strawberry Jam in it (you can get it on the side but it adds a nice sweet spice) and the Spicy Eggy Breakfast Sando. I also ordered the Rose n Fruit Latte and Fig Favorite Latte. Both very delicious! I'll check this place out again. read more
