I stopped by Starbucks to grab a white mocha iced drink, and overall it started off really good. The flavor was smooth, sweet, and exactly what you would expect from a white mocha. It was definitely enjoyable at first. But once I put the straw in, the taste completely changed. I am not sure what it is about the new cardboard straws, but it gave the drink a weird, almost unpleasant flavor that kind of ruined the experience for me. Without the straw, it honestly tasted great, so that was disappointing. On a positive note, the staff really stood out. The cashiers were kind and welcoming, and I later noticed they had written a small note on my cup. I did not see it until after I left, but it was such a thoughtful touch and definitely made me smile. So overall, good drink and great service, but the straw situation took away from what could have been a really solid experience. read more

This location is right off the freeway on Mace Blvd. across the street from 7/11 & in the same parking lot as a local grocery store. They've got walk-in and plenty of parking, or drive-thru too. This spot must do insane business as it's right off the freeway, in a strip mall with a grocery store as the anchor store, & has plenty of space to sit and hang. Located in the well frequented Mace Boulevard, Nugget Shopping Center with easy off/on E/W bound freeway exits for your drive thru needs. When it opened, it was a huge bonus for South Davis residents as all other Davis locations were on the other side of the freeway some distance away. Unfortunately, it opened shortly before I moved away from Davis to my present home. It is a large Starbucks for sure. With a nice covered patio to chill and hang out. Parking is easy, and there is lots of it. It is the favorite with everyone. Students in their jammies:), and local kids and adults. Dogs welcome! It is always busy. I've recently started going back. I stopped in a couple mornings a week and have done so for the last two months. This starbs had my favorite green tea matcha latte, I recommend it with coconut milk it makes for a really cohesive flavor profile! Kyersten and Brianna helped me and were both very nice and friendly- my matcha drink was blended really well and I didn't have to stir it- which I appreciated. I usually stop at Starbucks during my walks for a cup of ice water -- sometimes I'm charged $0.30, sometimes it's free, but never a problem. Just yesterday I bought ice at this same Mace & Highway 50 store, and today I got ice at two other locations (Sacramento & Vacaville) with no issue. But today here, the manager Mandy told me "We don't sell ice" with a smirk, then got snarky and dismissive. i went there super early this morning to make sure i could get a limited plastic bear cup (they launched country wide this morning). thought it would make a great christmas gift for my sister who loves the starbucks bear. i was first in line (starting at 3am) and waited an hour. then the employees came in around 4am (they open at 4:30am) and immediately took the two cups on the shelf and kept them for themselves. so much for waiting in the cold morning for for an hour. i wish they would have handled the launch better and its unfortunate that employees trump customers...silly me for being too naive. read more

If you like sausage, you'll love "sausage" Will I Come Back Test? Yup! It will be Impossible to stop me. So I finally have a reason to give Starbucks my money. It's not that I don't like their coffee, it's that I've actually never had a sip of coffee in my near 50 years and have no desire to start. But now that they have a unique vegetarian warm food option, The Impossible (sausage) Breakfast Sandwich, looks like I'll be waiting in that drive-thru with everyone else. It's an exciting time to be a vegetarian. The majority of the the fast food establishments have recognized there is a huge demand. Who knows ... Arby's may eventually have a commercial that says "We have the meats ... NOT!" In the pecking order of mass produced vegetarian foods, Impossible is the top of that faux food chain, closely followed by Beyond. Starbucks choose wisely. Impossible Breakfast Sandwich ($4.95, Grade A): The Impossible Sausage (plant-based), aged cheddar cheese, and a cage-free egg on an artisanal ciabatta bread. Served warm and definitely not microwaved. I don't know how they do it, but the bread stays crunchy and warm until the very last bite. And somehow, when you bite through, you bite through. You don't have to pull away like a lion eating its prey. Super clean to eat on the road. For those who have never tried an Impossible Burger let alone their plant-based sausage, let's just say in a blind taste test, you would be hard pressed to tell a difference. Especially since the aged cheddar and egg are in the bite pool, it's literally "Impossible" to notice you are helping the environment. Bottom line: If you were ever curious about being vegetarian or possibly vegan if you ask for no egg or cheese (please check on the ciabatta though), this will be a perfect entry meal for you to go meatless one, two, or seven days a week. The Starbucks crew was extremely nice and efficient and got my food out in a blink of an eye. Socially-distanced - The interior tables have been removed, but outside seating is available. Drive-thru is super busy and can get a little jammed up when pulling into the parking lot, but from what I can see, it moved fast. I had a very strange experience at this Starbucks. I went in with a friend for a cup of teas and conversation. We ordered and were prompt served we found a table and before we even started drinking were told that the Lobby was going to be closed for "maintenance ". We went outside and eventually moved to our car to talk and enjoy each others company. And we watched as 6 or ten people walked up to the locked door and knocked in frustration. This is my favorite Starbucks location in Davis. It's more on the outskirts of Davis, so you see fewer students here. I've never had trouble finding seating at this location. But sometimes (if you're like me) you might have trouble finding the nice window seat with good lighting. I "discovered" this place because I needed to get my car serviced, and it was within walking distance, which was a major plus. I only took one star off because I've ordered the same drink 3 times, and each time it has tasted slightly different. Recreatability is always a great plus! Nonetheless, I will keep coming to this location because they are speedy with my order and I like the seating! read more

A-OK...yup. It's got a pleasant dining area which looks newer than some. Parking is plentiful and even though they've re-done it, the drive-thru still reminds me that this used to be a fast food restaurant. Quick stop before work to grab a bite and a sip. The bites are either pre-packaged or pre-packaged, nuked, then repackaged. The sips are passable sips. The outdoor patio is walled in (very lightly) by a fence, making it perfect for my dog to dine with us as we were the only people outside. There are regular chairs and tables as well as some chairs with cushions for schmoozing. Would be a great place for meetings- especially with folks from across the causeway who think that Davis is sooooo far away. They put actual coffee in my coffee drink this time so my verdict? Just witnessed the Barista and her colleagues basically talking back to a customer because her order was labeled incorrectly. $8 drink, 20 minutes and the lady asked why it was called out and labeled wrong. No much of an apology, and then making fun of / talking back to the customer. My drink was made wrong, when corrected it was running down the sides,.a mess, no napkins to be found anywhere in the store. I waited another 10 minutes for my unwarmed food item, which they finally brought up. No apologies for the wait. Don't usually go to Starbucks, I usually make coffee at home and it's pretty good. Decided to treat myself to a Mocha. I was greeted and served right away. Mocha was not really hot, a little above lukewarm, tasted like watered down packet hot chocolate, no coffee taste. I drank about a third, not looking for a replacement, but let someone know just in case it was made wrong. The person I talked to basically said next time ask for extra shot or two of espresso to get a coffee flavor, mocha masks the coffee taste. I said ok, but it still tasted like weak hot chocolate. They never apologized, didn't offer to make it right (didn't want another one) just told me what to do for next time. I guess this is customer service now? So I literally work next the Starbucks and it's fairly close to my home and it's open till 10 PM so it's one of the Starbucks I go to quite often. It's very hit or miss here sometimes depending on the time that you go, I've had them mess up my order a few times but a lot of the times they do run out of green tea macha powder or don't have the London fog tea bags in to make a latte. But most of the time when they do mess up they do make up for it. It's one of the newer clear Starbucks around was just built 2-3 years ago. I just recently moved close to this location, so it has become my go to spot for coffee when I'm on the go. Like most Starbucks' locations, I judge this one based on its cleanliness, the employees, and the speediness of orders. All three of these categories blow it out of the water at this location. I've done the drive through and the order ahead, but never actually waited in line. That said, my order is always ready when I get there, and the drive through line is always quite quick. The staff at this location are always delightful and have my order ready so quick. There has been one occasion where my order wasn't quite right from my mobile order, but they quickly fixed it and I was able to go on my way. This location is big enough to study in, or hangout and sip coffee. But it's not overwhelmingly large or crowded. All and all, one of my fave locations in Davis! read more
