This used to be my favorite Starbucks location. The people were nice. The service was fast and they had recently redid the interior and they made it much more welcoming and a nice place to be able to sit in. Take a call in there if I needed to, but very recently, this location has gone downhill and at first I thought it was just a one off but every time I come, it's a very, very, very long wait and I understand it is a busier location, but it did not used to be like this like it used to be very efficient. It used to be very fast. The product was always consistent but now the product is inconsistent. The service has really really really gone downhill and it takes so long to get your coffee sometime. I wait up till 25 minutes for my drink and unfortunately I don't know if I continue to patronize this one just because I can't afford to wait 20 or 30 minutes for my coffee at a time and it's chaos. It's mass chaos. They need someone else who can kind of handle the mobile pick up counter or maybe a different type of system to be able to handle the crowd but it is mass chaos like I literally feel like I'm in the hunger games for my coffee every morning. read more

I've only utilized mobile ordering here but I really like this location. It's decently sized and they are relatively efficient when it comes to getting drinks made and ready. This Starbucks is conveniently located a few blocks away from my school, so I stop in often to grab some coffee in between classes. I prefer to order my drink ahead of time on the app and pick it up at the mobile order counter. It streamlines the process and my drink is always out quickly. This is a relatively large space, but there isn't a lot of seating. I've come here a few times to study, but it can get really loud between the baristas shouting and the flow of people coming in and out. However, the wifi is solid and the seats are pretty comfortable if you can snag one! read more

I work across the street and actually HAVE a Starbucks in my building, but I like this one for the sprawling, open space. (the one in 100 S. Wacker is Sooo small). Because of construction, we have to go upstairs, so that's an extra minute or 2 to my commute. It is more scenic than the ground floor. I would love to go and relax in the chair or on a sofa if I were just in the area not at work. When they finish building the shopping mall in SEARS Tower, they will need 2 (TWO) Starbucks, one for workers, one for shoppers. Word of warning, folks. The only thing I didn't like today is a requested a sandwich with no meat (in advance on the app) and there was meat! I'm not a vegetarian but that was a little startling/disappointing. read more

You're in the middle of Chicago and there is some street and deck parking but chances are you'll be on foot. But what is most important is that they got my order correct and my beverage tasted great. Not an avid fan of coffee per say but sometimes I succumb to my sweet tooth and venture out to this Starbucks location for a frappucino. Love this place because regardless of how long the line is, the service is really super fast! So fast that once I get to the register, I haven't even made my mind up yet as to what I want. Also it doesn't help that I don't know what sizes venti, tall and grande are. Anyways, the coffee concoctions never disappoint and always do the trick for the extra "pick me up" kick towards the end of a work day. The people that work here are quick and don't mess around with your order. Also, plenty of places to sit and lounge around here if you have time to enjoy your drink. Walked in on a chilly rainy Sunday morning for a quick caffeine infusion. Really cute Starbucks with two entrances - one from the street, another from the Willis Tower lobby. After a short wait, my friend & I warmly greeted by the super busy barista (who hustled & didn't come across as busy, just very pleasant!). Our orders were both correct AND delicious! Limited seating, but we were thankful to enjoy our breakfast under a really pretty coffee filter chandelier. read more

Convenient and easy access location, lots of parking, quick service, and a super friendly staff, what's not to like about this place?

This is probably one of the busiest Starbucks I've ever been to, but the workers here have got it down to a science!! They are so efficient and attentive to all their customer and they have a great set up for mobile orders. It's listed out alphabetically by name on the pick up counter making it super easy to find your drink and there's also always a worker standing by the mobile order pick up area who will easily help you find your drink if needed. The only bad thing is since this location is right in the Willis tower it's always extremely busy so it's not the best location if you're trying to sit in the cafe and get some work done. read more

My Starbucks app is strictly for cake pops. This Starbucks is located on the second floor inside of the Willis Tower (plenty of signs will direct you around the escalator rodeo). There was what appeared to be one active barista and one active cashier when I arrived. It only took a few minutes for my wrap to be warmed up; it was a bit on the crunchy side, and I'm use to the bread being softer, but a customer was being helped while the oven was beeping for removal. The ambience is really open, casual and cool; there are several seating stations and coffe-related paintings on the walls. The manager Keith keeps the store well organized with the staff and always stops by the receptionist desk to say hi. I'm rather focusing on the work-place aspects of this joint because reviews of these locations always seem to miss these details! Factors in measurement (generally worth 1 star each) - busy-ness: Though it's in WIllis Tower, it was generally pretty chill on the Thursday afternoon I stayed here. Plenty of open seats. - friendliness: Staff was top-notch and staying busy cleaning, greeting, makin coffee and generally being active. - # of electric outlets: Meh. I'd say the chair/outlet ratio is 7-to-1. Get a seat early. - size (amount of tables/chairs): 12 2-seater tables, a couple plushy chairs and a big work table for six. Definitely one of the larger locations in the Loop. - proximity to windows/peoplewatching: Not so great. It's halfway underground with the entrance facing Wacker Dr. You can see some light, but not much. All in all, a decent location if you need to work for a while. I need to stop coming here because every time I leave upset for having paid a premium for coffee and leaving disappointed every single time. There is no other decent coffee in the Sears/Willis Tower (please not try mentioning the coffee bar on the 33rd floor because it's not good and overpriced). I thought it was the cashiers only that are terrible at listening or providing any kind of answers to basic questions (can you show me where this is on the app? None of them know the app btw. Can you not put less coffee because you're adding whipped cream?). It is the staff (baristas) actually making the coffee. I ordered the other day a venti, cold foam and half of the cup was empty. I've asked for things like an extra shot of espresso (that I pay for) and they are forgotten - consistently. I'm not even taking issue with how often you order a pastry or food and you have to remind staff to give it to you. This has been an ongoing frustration since our team moved to this office in October. I have limited the number of times that I actually come to the Willis Tower Starbucks to avoid annoyance but some days it's the only option. I have sent tweets tagging this location as well as Starbucks and have yet to hear anything back in terms of, "We are sorry. We are trying to make improvements with our staff, properly train them" Please look at my photos today's $5.52 venti mocha LIGHT whip. It's not a full 20oz venti. And look at my venti macchiato with cold foam from the other day more than $7?!? Was a 5 year daily customer but I have finally come to the point that I can no longer use this location. Prior to opening their new location in the lobby this was one of my favorite locations but the service had slowly deteriorated. All of their new hire employees have been incredible rude and unfriendly. Additionally the new store is smaller and very packed most of the day. The final straw was when they eliminated free refills that they had been giving to gold card member building tenants, and requiring you to remain in the store. This is incredibly hard to do, since to eliminate the crowding issue, they took out over half the seating. It really saddens me to have to stop going here but the lack of care for their most loyal customers really cements my decision. read more

After a recent expansion, this is as big a Starbucks as you'll find. Plenty of tables, cushy chairs, and even board games, the latter a nod to the generation of mine that absolutely refuses to grow up. This location needs to be big, though. Located on the ground floor (Wacker Side) of the Willis Tower (or the Sears Tower, if you still care about that), it gets a lot of traffic. But fortunately, they're fast. If you're ordering a basic coffee, you can be at the end of a twenty person line and still get out the door in a couple minutes. I'm usually trying to take as long as possible, as I work in the building and am in no rush to return to my desk, but I digress. The off street location does nothing but good. There are no winter breezes finding their way in here. The destitute that have overrun many shops in the area, in search of handouts, typically do not make it past building security here (although it should be noted that you do not need to work in the building to come here). And perhaps most importantly, there are precious few laptop dorks diddling away for hours on end, pretending they're European, intent to spend nearly all their time at any place but the one they actually pay to occupy. The clientele consists mostly of people who work in the building, although a few wayward tourists in search of the skydeck will pop in. Regular, business-minded customers often mean regular orders and regular tips. I don't think it's any coincidence that there are some very tenured baristas at this location, although they probably also enjoy not having to work weekends or past 6:00 p.m., too. But turnover is not much of an issue here. Because of the inner office building location, you'll see lots of interviews--both casual and formal--being conducted here. I wouldn't feel remotely comfortable talking about some made up weaknesses here, but some folks don't have a choice. My only grievance is that they did away with their maple oat scones. Every Starbucks appears to have done this, but here's where I'll address it. What was that all about? That was far and away their best bakery item. read more

I want to start off my review by saying that I am NOT A FAN of Starbucks AT ALL. I was a barista for a long time and am a coffee whore, Starbucks IMNSHO is not good coffee, AND they are way too expensive for the quality that they offer. I am not saying that to diss them or diss anyone who likes them, I just know, from experience that there are better things out there. Now with all that said. I am an off again on again regular here because my S.O. works in the Sears tower and this a easy spot to meet up with him after he is done with his work day. I really enjoy my visits here. The staff at this locale is super friendly and they remember me even when its been a few weeks since my last visit. I am amazed at their level of friendly. They get a huge volume here and a lot are less then friendly office workers in a rush to get a heavy dose of caffeine and still manage to give service with a smile. Which I have a huge amount of respect for having worked in the field for so long. Also a tip if your sitting down with your cuppa the two big chairs in the back are super comfy. When it comes to the Loop, you're never wanting for a place to get a caffeine fix. I admit to not being a coffee drinker, which would raise your eyebrow when you consider I'm rating a Starbucks, but frankly there ARE non-coffee items one can purchase at a Starbucks, which means you shouldn't just shrug off my review. First off, the make some delicious non-coffee iced drinks, like the Triple-Chocolate blend/smoothie. The tiny chunks of chocolate can get a little distracting, though. Also, they recently came out with the Vivanno protein smoothies. Frankly, the chocolate-banana tastes entirely of protein whey powder. The orange-mango-banana version doesn't taste AS MUCH like the protein powder, so I chose that one. Of course, it was back when they had a deal where every Tuesday from 2pm-4pm if you showed them a gym card or Starbucks card, you could get a free one - which led to my lunch hour being a race to hit as many Starbucks in the two-block radius of the Sears Tower for maximum free smoothies. Multiplied by four Tuesdays. The bakery here is decent. Some of their items are a little stale or dry from sitting in that case all day. And yes, on rare occasions I have tried their iced coffee drinks when in DESPERATE need for caffeine. The servers are quite friendly here (which is amazing since the place is always packed with office-workers, especially ones taking advantage of the free wireless hotspot and oven-toasted breakfast sandwiches). They could use with a lot more speed, though, when it comes to serving up the orders. There's always a comedian saying that Starbucks employees should be drinking their own freakin' coffee so they can MOVE and get you YOUR coffee in a speedy fashion. I'd say that's par for the course and this location is no better, but also no worse than the average Starbucks. So come for the friendly staff, the wireless hotspot, and a couple of VERY comfy chairs in the back that you'll have to monitor and jump into as soon as the last patron has vacated - it's well worth the wait for those comfy chairs! read more

I feel a little ridiculous writing a review for Starbucks but I really have to give props to this location. I work in the building and come here almost every morning. Pros 1) faster service than any Starbucks I've ever seen - you a see a line? Don't worry, it's gone in under 5 minutes, even when out the door 2) Nicest baristas - some even know what I want before I order it 3) Great place to have a meeting if you're sick of your office. 4) Best brewed plain coffee (I get dark) - I've order the same thing at every starbucks, and it's amazing how bad it is at some locations. Except for 2 off days (in 3 years) this is absolutely consistent. When I have to go to the one near my house or stop at an unfamiliar one, I always moan and groan and whine to my husband - why can't this be more like the WILLIS STARBUCKS. I'm sure it's charming.... but seriously they deserve a compliment. read more

I had to travel to Chicago recently for a professional exam, so there was a lot of crazy studying before it, and then some post-exam relaxation I needed to do before catching the Megabus. Whenever I am obligated to kill some time in very large Big Business downtown areas, I'll typically see out a Starbucks. Not being from Chicago, I had a) not looked up when I entered this building and so didn't realize that b) that Willis Tower = the new Sears Tower. It was only when I had set up my laptop and thought "Hm, wonder what Willis Tower is" that I realized I was in one of America's iconic buildings. Alright! I went to this Starbucks twice in two days, and both times I went it was slammed with tons of business people. The staff seemed very friendly, professional, and helpful. Right on. Oddly, one of the service bars never seemed to have creamer, but the other one did. Not a lot of plugs around, but if you sit at the counter facing the glass wall, there is one on the far end. read more

Working in the building this place is the best Starbucks I been to personally. They always get your order right! This has to be one of the busiest Starbucks I been to but they always have the line moving which is great because you can get your coffee and go. They have an abundance of staff working so its not taking forever to get your coffee. Typical wait time for your drink is 2-5mins depending on what you order. I have never had to correct them or have my coffee remade here. The place is over all clean and I love the charging stations they provide since sometimes you need that extra juice in your phone! This is by far the fastest, most efficient, well run Starbucks in the city. I get my daily dose here since I work in the tower. Phenomenal service. Not often I leave a Starbucks really annoyed and disappointed. This morning aside from the barista not understanding that an extra, bone dry cappuccino pretty much means foam only -- (but that's hard, and I have to often coach the barista on how I want it) -- the service and attitude was not acceptable. (on Friday - May 14 @ 9:50 a.m. to 10:12 a.m.) My cap came up in the reasonable amount of time. I did not ask her to remake it. My kale egg bites took 22 minutes!!! It was not crazy busy. There were 5 staff handling customers. I am not sure of the volume of the mobile, advance orders - but there were not a lot of people coming in just for pick up. Prompting me to write the review is the attitude when I inquired twice about my order. The Barista was nice and said there were 5 burritos ahead of me (not sure that takes 22 minutes) -- But the woman heating up the orders had attitude, denied she was not efficiently handling the orders, told me at my first inquiry that it would be a minute -- 8 minutes later I announced I needed to leave for a meeting and could not wait. I inquired if I could just get a gift card for the amount so I could go. She argued that it was next and she was heating up orders in order. However by this time only people who came in after me were in the store. There were people who came in after me and ordered in person not in advance who received their food before me. The woman's tone and response was rude. I left. Another customer walked out with me to the light with me, and volunteered on her own to engage me saying "in addition to poor service, she was snippy and didn't seem to care" read more

I've tried a lot of local brews (Intelligentsia, Metropolis, Dark Matter, La Colombe...etc.), but I still think Starbucks is really solid. Anyway, everyone knows about Starbucks... this review is about this particular location. I worked in Willis over the summer, and I came here daily for three months. The first thing you may notice is that the line goes out the door every morning, but they also move FAST. I've stood at the end of the line where half of the people were out the door, and I've gotten my order quicker than when there were only a few people before me in another Starbucks. So, these baristas are great at what they do. You would think that because they are so busy, they would be less friendly than Starbucks employees are known to be, but this could not be more untrue. This location deserves ALL the stars (insert meme) because of their incredible staff - in particular, Paul. He always greets people happily and radiates positive energy. This is so appreciated because the workday can be tiring, stressful, monotonous..etc., so friendliness really makes a difference. Another thing: They always remember to make my drink at "kids temp" - I've grown used to expecting it maybe 20% of the time at other locations. If you're around the area and have time to spare, definitely stop by here and grab your coffee here instead of the many other Starbucks...es in the Loop.
