Ordered with an extra shot and probably didn't need it! The coffee flavor is bold and flavorful. Doesn't taste like the coffee beans are burnt or bland. I drank half & saved the rest for later because of how strong it was. I usually get triple espresso shots at other places , two here is more than enough! The service was quick as well
Dark matter was delicious! I came here for the to go malort coffees, left with a delicious mocha that helped me pep up my day. The art inside the coffee shop was beautiful! I will be back
Beautiful space and well decorated! Minimal seating and tables. We got a a decaf latte and espresso- very well made. I wish I would taken a photo of the menu because they had some cool creations on ther. Service was service lol Tables could of been cleaner but overall good experience.
Strong a** coffee, in a good way! Needed a little pick me up on Saturday morning and the small coffee did the trick! Had a strong but delicious taste to it! Regret not buying their coffee beans but we will be back! Cashier was okay and could've been a bit friendlier but I came for coffee not to make friends I guess, in the nicest way. The barista was super friendly and said bye to everyone leaving the door, so that was nice! The decoration and murals on the wall are on point, had great music playing as well! Definitely a vibe in there.
I tried the Vanilla Suburbs Nitro at Dark Matter, and honestly it was mid. There was no flavor of the vanilla or the cocoa and was just watery. I get that it's not supposed to be sweet, but it felt like it was missing something. The barista was very sweet though and patiently answered all our questions and let us take our sweet time to choose from the menu. The cafe is chic and nice. Would I order from here again? Meh, probably not.
I stopped in here recently only because I've seen their coffee on sale in the coffee aisle at my local grocery store. I was disappointed with the lack of attentiveness by customer service, the sloppy uncomfort appearance of the employees, the overall Vibe of the place, the quality of my coffee and the presentation of it, and the price. The biggest insult of all, they served me a single shot claiming it was a double. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
My brother-in-law swears by Dark Matter and I love it too. The overall spacey vibe to their product is unique and fun - and the quality they shovel out is quite impressive. Got a nitro coffee that was "out-of-this-world" (see what I did there), and it was STRONG. Heavy bitterness in the way I expect from a Nitro.
Meddle Coffee in the West Loop is as advertised, a psychedelegance coffee shop. The mural fantasies, by Jason Brammer, on the walls surround patrons with gorgeous hallucinatory images upon entering the front door. On our recent visit, we were greeted with a smile and offered the intriguing menu. We ordered the Cafe Miel and the Gingersnap Trainwreck. The cafe miel had a rich coffee flavor which was delightfully accented with honey. So tasty! The gingersnap trainwreck was a festival of coffee gently merging with spices and honey. This fresh flavor sensation was a wild new discovery. We loved the delicious coffee at Meddle which was enhanced by the gorgeous fantasy displayed in the art encircling us. Yay!

I'm glad I stopped by before heading to Union Station to head back to the burbs. ICED MAYAN MOCHA (12 OZ) - 4.75 4.75 for a 12 oz mocha is pretty darn good in 2024. The mocha had a slightly spicy kick after every sip and it wasn't too sweet. I really enjoyed this drink and it's been awhile since I enjoyed a mocha. It had a strong chocolate flavor and I could still taste the espresso. Solid option for sure. My only regret is not copping a bag of beans while I was here. There's quite a few Dark Matter cafes in Chicago, so definitely stop by at one of them and give their drinks a try!
Dark Matter Coffee in Chicago, IL was the perfect morning walk from my hotel--and the coffee was absolutely worth the stop! They have so many unique coffee options, and after being incredibly indecisive, I decided to let the coffee shop surprise me with a latte... and they nailed it! I went with the Barrel Aged Iced Latte, and the flavor was perfectly balanced and delicious. The space itself is also so cool, filled with fun trinkets, coffee finds, and such a unique atmosphere that made the experience even better. The service was incredible, the coffee was amazing, and I truly couldn't recommend Dark Matter Coffee enough! read more
We had some time before our train to Kalamazoo so Nate and I were searching for a coffee shop where we could hang out and get some work done. We originally stopped at Swadesi, but it was packed, so I found this spot on Yelp. It wasn't too busy, so we ordered some iced Americanos and sat at the funky tables near the window. I tried a bunch of times to get connected to the wifi, but it wasn't working... until someone left. It almost seemed like it had limited capacity so that was a bit weird. Luckily we were able to connect and Nate took a meeting and I got some work done. It was super loud in there at times but it was more comfortable than I expected. Seating is pretty limited and a bit more communal. The americanos were delicious and I liked that they had an oat milk carafe available. read more

Consistently good. Dark matter coffee is my frequent stop on the way to my office. Barista are always nice and provide great customer service. The ambiance is chill and quiet. Pastry offerings are a little bit limited, but my coffee are made consistently well. Highly recommended! read more

The drinks are verryyyyyy sweet. I asked for my drink with light syrup but is was still way too much. Maybe I'll try a straight espresso. It's only worth it if you're in the area though read more

Want a strong cup of premium coffee, then this is your go-to spot. Cozy space with lots of colorful art work and quotes to stimulate thoughts. I ordered the iced mocha latte with oat milk and it was perfect. The server was pretty cool and my order was ready quick. They also offer pastries. I was heading to a training class for work and knew donuts would be provided. read more
Absolutely love the aesthetics of the coffee shop.. the decor definitely is a good conversation starter. The barista (Stephanie) is a wonderful person. She recommended an iced coffee named Cafe Miel, and it was absolutely delicious. Well worth taking a trip here read more

Got the agave latte and a ham & cheese croissant. Agave latte was delicious and not too sweet with it served at the perfect temperature (not scalding but just hot enough to drink right away). The ham & cheese croissant was fine too but I wish they could warm pastries there. The croissant was also wildly expensive, at $8-9 for a cold croissant. For those two reasons, I gave this place four stars. Service was quick with decent inside and outside, and there's cool decorations inside! read more
Overall a pretty good coffee shop. Limited seating. Coffee is good but $$. Nice open, airy space. Gender Neutral bathrooms. Barista seemed a tad annoyed when I asked him about light roasts - so knocked off a star - staff could be a little more personable. read more

I was in town visiting a friend and Dark Matter was described as the best coffee in Chicago. As a coffee snob, I said we must go. Saturday morning we set out for Dark Matter and it was well worth the journey. I ordered an iced Latté with honey (Miel I believe) and it was perfection. My friends ordered a mocha, and black coffee. We sat inside and caught up on life and discussed the weekend ahead. The space was large with tall floor to ceiling windows, and abstract artwork. Patrons came and went with families, dogs etc. I will definitely return to dark matter the next time I'm in town. read more

Stopping in for coffee within this place was one of them. I was looking for something new to try the morning I visited. Here, the interior decor screams urban industrial bando with dark undertones - appealing and inviting! While looking over the menu to choose a drink, it quickly became obvious that this was no place for ordinary coffee. Sincerely, it was easy to feel a bit undecided and reluctant to order something different; however, I wanted something new that morning. You will notice from the menu that their specialty drinks are made with agave and ginger, and spiced with cinnamon, rosemary, sage, cayenne, cardamom, cloves, black pepper - check out the menu! The coffee here strays from the beaten path! I wasn't sure what to order. For occasions such as this, I often make it a point to identify myself as a first-time customer and ask what the most popular drinks are. The barista welcomed me and my family, named the popular drinks and described how they were personal favorites and why. In response, I selected one of the recommended drinks: the Iced Mayan Mocha. It was superb! There are many intriguing specialty drinks created here and I would certainly come back to try them all. Tantalize your coffee senses here! If you decide you rather stay in your comfort zone and order that vanilla latte, they got you covered. Dark Matter serves the everyday favorites too. Enjoy! read more

Definitely a dope spot to check out! Love the aesthetics of this coffee shop and there are some spots to sit down and do work. The menu is super simple and straightforward, with various options for cold brew and nitro cold brew. I love that they order dark matter coffee, anything you pick is going to be delicious and unique! Love this coffee shop. All of their more specialty drinks are creative and so delicious. I also loved their iced tea (they can make any of their teas iced). My husband also had an empanada the last time we went and said it was delicious. Service is always kind here & again, so many great drink options. read more

Wanted to have a cup of coffee after my chiropractic visit and saw this wasn't too far away. Decided to stop in to do a little work as well. Place is nice with a few tables but seems more like a grab and go kind of place. It's street parking where you pay at the pay box so if you plan to be there a while you'll be paying a few bucks to park. I wish they would've offered to warm my croissant but I don't think they are able to do that so I knocked off a star because of it. Otherwise it's a nice place and I love Dark Matter Coffee so I would come back if I'm in the area read more

Absolutely horrible. I got an iced mocha with oat milk and it tasted so sour. I only drank two sips before throwing it out. Boyfriend agreed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. A good place for coffee. Dark Matter has a few locations and this one is referred to as Meddle. It doesn't have much room inside so it's mostly takeout. Hard to find a table because there's so few. There's lots of cool artwork to check out. I like the Agave Latte. It's $4.75 for a medium. This is made with chocolate and cinnamon and pretty sweet. It's good with non dairy milk. Options include almond, coconut, and oat. Also there's a few things to eat. Mostly granola bars and those kinds of things. I like a Tao Bar. It's about $2 each. They have a few flavors. Coffee is the main thing here of course. It has a few muffins and pastries There's not a lit or room inside so expect it take stuff out with you. read more
