I have been a long-time customer of Starbucks in general and was especially happy that I finally have a place to go to only a couple blocks away from where I live. Honestly, it's been a year since I've been a customer at this store and I love the atmosphere, location, and am fully satisfied with their drinks most of the time, which made me hold off on writing such bad review about this place for a year. And I also didn't want to sound like one of those snobby customers who file complaints for minor issues, since I also worked at a coffee shop before and a lot of times consumer dissatisfactions can be anticipated and resolved before they actually file a complaint. However, I have been in several situations where I had to leave the place with unpleasant feelings because of one of the employees who is very unfriendly, who did not care when I told her that I ordered a venti size drink when she made it in a grande size (not to mention walking away before I could ask her to remake it), who refused to refill the milk on the self bar at the door and instead poured the milk herself in the cup only half-full and said she would have to charge for extra if I needed more. Since when did starbucks charge you extra for the milk on the self bar? This isn't the first time that I've had uneasy feelings about her attitude and rudeness. Most of the time she would just walk away after finishing her sentence or just stare at me when I express my confusion. I filed a complaint directly to the customer service center by writing an email but honestly I don't think I'll be ordering any more drinks to her in the future. All the other baristas are extremely nice, super friendly, and keeps the place amiable which makes me want to keep going to this place. Thus my frustration. I love this place because it's just down the street from where I live. I am just enough of a coffee addict that going there is convenient enough for me to go frequently. The manager (as with most Starbucks managers I've met) is really friendly and cares about her customers. But honestly, this has got to be one of the most hit or miss Starbucks I've ever been to. When I go in the mornings, things are done right. Most of the baristas genuinely seem to care about their jobs, but when things go wrong, they go wrong! When I see Matt behind the bar, there's a 100% chance of me getting glared at and my drink taking fifteen minutes to get made, even if there are no other drinks in line. Three times now I've gotten drinks that were ice cold even though the barista at the bar swore they were steamed. I've given up correcting the error because I'm tired of being given a look when I ask for my drink to be made correctly. When I do get hot drinks, they're made incorrectly. I've lost count of the number of times I've been served bad shots that have turned black at the bar. Honestly? I want to give the place a chance to get its sh*t together. The space is nice, always spotless, always filled with students getting their work done. I might be risking forever getting decaf espresso by posting this, but maybe they'll make some changes. read more

I prefer to take the hike up to the brookline than going back here. Here's the reason why in the beginning I was excited there was a Starbucks opening closer to my house. Sadly to say the staff at this Starbucks wasn't up to snuff. For example i ordered a my usual drink and the bArista at the time he overfilled my refillable drink cup which ended up spilling on the counter and staining my cup. I asked the barista for a towel to wipe up the mess he responded no their some napkins in the back wall near the door. Once I found out there was a Starbucks moving just right across the street I was so thrilled! However not so much anymore hands-down the worst Starbucks I have ever been to in the US.. Every time I take a trip to Starbucks there's always a new problem in there with what I order. Today was the day I just finally had it!! I ordered a green tea and the girl replied "we don't have green tea", we have China tea. Really?!?! I could not even believe this.. They're known for their green tea smoothie's not to mention I buy the Tazo leaves from them that's green tea! This girl had no clue what she was doing or what she was talking about... I had it with that Starbucks, I would rather walk a mile to another one than go there again! They also don't seem to know anything about the breakfast menu... But that's a whole other story. They need to hire some new baristas and step up their game. Awful. read more

I'm a local coffee kind of girl, but this Starbucks is f#cking amazing. Forget the shiny new layout awaiting LEED certification; I've never had a bad drink, nor have I encountered a douchey barista. There's one dude there that deserves some stock options, he can tell a customer what they want when they don't even know. Super friendly workers and overpriced specialty beverages that are on point? I'm sad to be moving. Comm Ave Starbucks, I appreciate you spelling my name correctly (Kit, not Kid, Kim or Krit) and I thank you for your offer of free water on hot days and your patience with my indecisive girlfriend. I've had nothing but positive experiences at this Starbucks. It's a nice place to go if you want to get work done cause it's one of the nicer looking ones/doesn't feel as crowded as some smaller Starbucks. The service has always been good when I've visited this location, perhaps because I was going at a times that weren't very busy. read more

When I was about to order, a women staff with black glasses on Saturday 7/30/2016 around 1-1:30pm literally stared at me without saying anything. This is the closest Starbucks to my house, thus I came here often to work and sometimes to read. The space is great for working. It's a big and spacious Starbucks with multiple individual table. I often come here to get my usual grande cappuccino and do work in the morning. Then, I would head to my office by taking the T right outside. The vibe at this Starbucks is also great, as most of the times, it's full of students (BU and BC) and young professionals living in the Brighton area. read more

This store is always busy. If it's finals week then avoid it completely. Always taken over by students with laptops. But the service is good and they always get my order right, but they don't seem to understand "leave room for cream" since I always have to dump my coffee out. Starbucks coffee isn't so great in my personal opinion, way too strong, so I usually go with the lattes. read more

I am not sure what all the poor reviews are about, I really enjoy this Starbucks location! I've never had any major issues with my drinks, the service is generally speedy and the baristas have been as kind as can be! Anne Marie gives me a smile overtime I get my coffee even when it's way too early for to be that friendly. I camp out here and study all the time and honestly I see the foot traffic come in here: it's a lot. I can understand why people may say that the service is slow but the baristas deal with waves of people coming in consistently in the early morning/afternoon time. I love starbucks in Allston personally and would recommend it to anyone for these service and coffee! read more

A few of the staff members at this Starbucks are extremely rude. My friend and I came here to study and she ordered a frappucino, asking for no extra ice, and the woman behind the counter rudely snapped at her that frappucinos need ice, rather than politely informing her of this, as a barista should. There aren't nearly enough outlets for all the customers with their laptops, and as it is a pretty big space, there could be several more tables. The coffee was fine-- typical Starbucks run-of-the-mill coffee. Not nearly good enough to warrant the headache that this Starbucks causes. If you want a quiet place to study, this Starbucks location isn't for you. You'd be better off going to The Bee's Knees cafe next door, if you can afford it. read more

I have held off writing this review to give this new store a chance to get its stuff together, and because I hate giving bad reviews, but I've had enough. I was so excited when I saw a Starbucks was going to be opening closer to my house - but I am incredibly disappointed by the consistently lousy service I receive here. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day I stop by, the service is always painfully slow! There never seem to be more than 3-4 people working at any one time despite how busy this location is. More frustrating is that at least one of them always seems to be standing around doing nothing, while another is asking, in front of a long line of customers, if they can go for their break!! Seriously I've heard someone ask this at least 3 times. If you really have to take your break right now, how about you do it discretely?! I've worked in many retail and service industry jobs and cannot imagine ever doing this! When I come here in the morning I have to allow a good 20-25mins to grab a cup of coffee - it's ridiculous!! This is not the case at the slightly less conveniently located (for me) store in Brookline, where service is always fast and friendly! Then there's the sloppy drink making, and the fact that no one who works there seems to know the names of any of the drinks they sell!! And I'm not talking about some complicated double pump, extra hot, no foam, triple shot, non-fat, soy milk kind of drink, I'm talking about the standard drinks printed right on the boards behind them! Today was the last straw that prompted this review - store is packed, massive line, only 3 people working there (although a fourth does appear from the back room as I'm leaving only to stand by the little oven with a vacant stare doing nothing), they run out of cups, someone asks to go on their break, the person who finally serves me needs me to explain the drink I want to him 3 times (again a standard drink on the board behind him), there are no little hot cup holder guys, I say excuse me 3 times to try to get one, am ignored, so after a 20min+ ordeal I get scald my hand all the way home. why do the baristas charge you for refills when you clearly tell them that you have the starbucks green reward? happened to me at least twice at this location. oh and they do only one refill? what's that about? otherwise, this location does have a lot of seating and plenty of places to charge your laptop. read more

Updating my review. Although this time the baristas were friendly and welcoming, they were out of vanilla syrup. Normally if this happened once in a while, I wouldn't care and get an alternative drink but this is the second time in 2 weeks they have run out of vanilla syrup for my simple request of a vanilla latte. Staff was quick and kind this morning but it's Monday at 7:30 AM and you're already out of the syrup for one of the most common drinks? Although I've had my drink made wrong a couple of times at this location, the manager has introduced herself to me and made sure I know that she is aware of the issue and is doing her best to fix it. Seems like there are a lot of new people on staff there but it looks like they are all working hard to make it right if something is wrong. They don't ever make excuses, they just apologize and fix the order. Everyone I've encountered here is extremely friendly and courteous and the cafe is huge. The chalk board art is awesome! read more
