This place is a hole in the wall, but worth EVERY calorie. Just writing this makes me want to go there right now.

We came here yesterday afternoon around 3:00pm. I give it a 1 star. Senorita bread was ok. They are skimpy on the glaze. We also bought puto and übe puto that's already packaged. No date on there what so ever. I don't know how long it's been out shelved so I put it in the fridge when we got home took it out in the morning and notice mold growing on all the puto! I was very disappointed cause I heard good things about this bakery. Never going back that's for sure. We also bought pan de übe and my husband and kids thought it was too dry! I recommend the bakery to check their baked stuff that's packaged. It really makes your business look bad and I'm sure people will read this and be aware! read more

One bite of the infamous senorita bread and believe me you will be addicted. You will need to eat this stuff as often as possible, and you will drive miles out of your way to get it. So you've been warned. My advice: no matter how hungry you are, no matter how delicious this stuff looks (and smells), BUY ONLY THREE to start. Eat 'em slowly, savoring every decadent morsel. When you're done, wait at least five minutes, then if you're still hungry go back for more. I offer this advice because these damn things may seem light and airy but they're filling, and they sit in your stomach like boulders. But OMG they're good. I gotta go get some now, sorry. read more

There are just some things that a person like me should not be introduced to... the senortia bread is one of those things. I find high calorie food more addictive than nicotine or reality tv. Since my grandmother passed away, I have been missing her infamous "bichi bichi" doughnuts. That is, until I found this place. This bakery has got to have the BEST Filipino pastries. If I need a fix of the bichi bichi doughnuts, I come here. They are soft and stay soft the next day for you to enjoy, not too sweet, and just awesomely good, especially with a cup of coffee on the side. Their seniorita's, which are the most popular items there are good, too! I suggest to go early in the morning as they are baked fresh. Don't be surprised if there is a long line though at that time. Senoritas! When a bakery has mainly one item on the menu and always busy you know you've found a wonderful thing. This bread is somewhat hard to describe a small bread that has sweetness and warmth all wrapped together in a cute roll. One or two or three is never enough. I have also tried the sweet rice in a banana leaf and its also really good. They also sell fresh roasted nuts but haven't gotten around to trying them. Who doesn't love Seniorita bread fresh outta the oven?! I know I do, the only draw back is that they treat you like a criminal the minute that you walk through the door. Wish I would've taken pictures of all the signs they have all over about paying first, being on your phone they will skip you, not to mention all the photos they have up of people who must have stolen from them. All that aside, the fresh seniorita bread is delish and I frequent this spot whenever I happen to be in Vallejo. I've never eaten a senorita bread until I heard of Starbread from my sister. It's soft and sweet, you definitely can't eat just one! It's really good, good thing I live pretty far from Vallejo or I would be eating this every week and gain weight. They're located in a strip mall and quite empty when I came. You walk in the small store and nothing much is on display, only a few type of pastries. But you see several white boxes saying $10 for 30, $15 for 45, etc. Those are for the senoritas, their specialty. If you want to buy a small amount, it's 3 for $1 but nobody I've seen walk away with just 3. Always a big box to go. You tell them the box size you want and they go into the back and come back with a box full of warm senoritas. Smells so divine. Definitely worth the drive to this place. read more

They are fluffy little pastrys with some kind of sweet goodness in the middle. It kind of reminds me of a mini cocktail bun. Typically, the menu choices in Vallejo are pretty depressing: seafood = red lobster steak = black angus French = you kidding? Greek = see French listing Every now and then, a nice sparkly gem is discovered from the pile of coals. Every now and then you find a place you actually will tell your friends -- with pride, nonetheless -- that you just have to visit when you come to (or perhaps, through) Vallejo. Star Bakery is one of those places. The seniorita bread is the main attraction and really the only attraction for me until I decide to try some of the other things they have (generally Filipino desserts). It's basically like a sweet bun about the size of maybe two dry erase markers laid side to side. The other reviews here say that it's addicting and it is. Really addicting. Here's how it worked its charm on me. Noon-ish: Wife: Got some seniorita bread. Try some. Me: (munch, munch). Hmm. They're okay. Pretty good. I don't see what's the big deal. 6pm: Me: we got any more of those bread thingies? Just a couple more. Wife: yep. 9pm: Me: I need a late night snack. Oh, the bread thingies! midnight: Me: just a couple more... 2 days later: Wife and I waiting in line to buy more. Good stuff. It doesn't hit you right away (at least it didn't for me), but it calls you, and calls you, and calls you. It's friggin calling me now. 4/5. I'll give a 5/5 if I ever try the other items and they're just as addicting. If you haven't been there, do yourself a favor and buy alot. Like 50 or so. Less trips, help the environment. read more
