My wife and I had been looking to purchase a car with an optional third row for a couple of months. Supposedly Kia had the best third -row SUV vehicles with their Sorento and Telluride models. Thus, we went to two KIA dealers (Kia of Carson and Kia of Cerritos) and talked to another two via the phone (Kia of Valencia and KIA of DTLA) to talk about these cars but were meant were unrealistic prices, misleading markups, and a take-it-or-leave-it negotiation process. Kia of Carson was especially unprofessional as they never properly printed out their prices when we could not first agree on a price. We started looking at the Mazda CX-9 and were impressed based off their reviews. We then went in to Star Mazda to simply test drive the vehicle and were greeted by Brian who was extremely friendly and talked to us in a comfortable manner. He was not pushy at all and allowed us to test drive the car. Once my wife and I tested out the vehicle, we started talking to Brian about prices, and then Eddie, who was working in sales that day, and ultimately we came out with a brand new 2021 Mazda CX-9! We are in love with the car, but most importantly, we were very grateful of how Brian and Eddie treated us during negotiations; in all honesty, it felt like a realistic conversation between Eddie and us as we worked out prices. He wanted to work with us which led us to want to work with him. The experience was the complete opposite of what we experienced at any KIA dealership and we are thankful for their friendly and comfortable demeanor. Car was delivered with parts missing. Israel, The sales person said the part was stolen in the dealership and he would be replacing that ASAP. It's been 5 months and there has been no contact. The phone number of the sales person goes to voicemail with no voicemail set up. According to the dealership he is on vacation. When asking to speak to the covering person or the manager they do not transfer the phone. When I inquired about the GM name and phone number, both via chat and over the phone, I was told they cannot provide that information and kept asking for my phone number and email to send the information. I said just give it to me and I'll write it down or just type it in the chat. THEY DID NOT!!!! What kind of a business is this??? I have parts missing from a brand new car which was stolen in YOUR DEALERSHIP! You don't have the professional courtesy to replace it????? DO NOT even go close to this dealership. If you want frustration, going around and around with careless and unprofessional people and having to chase everyone down to get an answer then you can consider going to this dealership. When I first started my car shopping experience, I was dead set on buying a CPO CX-3. However, finding one that matched my specific criteria proved to be very difficult. During my 5+ month search, I was in touch with at least six different Mazda dealers. Rewind to two weeks ago when I was on Star Mazda's website and saw a 2018 CX-3 in FWD and the color I wanted. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and he walked me through everything with patience; never once making me feel as if my questions were too elementary. On July 4th We went to Glendale Mazda from an online search of a low mileage certified pre Owned Maxda 3. Was greeted by Pablo who asked us if we could wait for him and showed us where the refreshment snacks and wifi password was. We told him to take his time since we were walk ins and had no appointment. We were treated with extremely good service. He showed us some of the cars we were interested in. We took a test drive and were pleased. He sat down with us and showed us all the relevant documents. No pushing No haggling. Very straight forward. We countered on a price and were able to come to an agreeable figure. Picked up the car on July 7. Pablo had the car completely detailed, washed, filled up the tank. Now that's really superb service. My experience at this dealership was definitely a huge disappointment. Please, if you are looking to buy a car, don't buy a mazda. My CX-5 is only a year and a half old and has been experiencing squeaky brakes, squeaking while driving neutral, along with a clicking in the accelerator pedal. Therefore, I took my car in multiple times, but the issues were never resolved. In fact, what surprised me even more was the dishonesty from the staff. I was told by email that they were able to duplicate the sound of the brakes and that they had sanded them down so that it would not squeak anymore. But upon receiving my paperwork, they had written that they had not duplicated anything at all (always check the paperwork people!) Moreover, when it came to the clicking in my gas pedal (which clearly did not feel safe), they again they never truly took the time to resolve the issue! The clicking is still happening, it's very frustrating, and while they told me that they would contact me as soon as possible regarding the issue, they never did. Also, this is where it gets really frustrating. I received an email from corporate, asking that I fill out a survey regarding Star Mazda in Glendale. I took my time, to give them an honest review that explained to them just the horrible service that I had received. After submitting the review, I contacted Star Mazda's manager, Roy Wells, and talked to him about just the issues I have had with the car, and how I never was properly serviced. But the way Roy responded to me was just absolutely absurd. He literally said these words, "It says here that you wrote us a bad review on the survey...So why should I feel the need to help you?" I couldn't believe it! He continued by just telling me that because I had written a bad review, that he doesn't feel the need to help us, he tells us to just go to another dealership, and that he believes that the relationship has been severed. This is clearly not how anybody should treat their customers! It's amazing that a service manager can come out and say something like that upon writing an honest review about them. Overall, my experience with Mazda over the year and a half has been extremely stressful. Even though you are under warranty, they do not take the time to really care about the condition of your car. My review is for the service department at Star Mazda. This is my first time at this dealership (my local Mazda dealership went out of business) and was looking forward to a positive experience, but their questionable practices means I won't be coming back. During summer 2017, I brought my car for the 75K miles service. According to the Owners Manual, the car was due for a transmission flush, spark plugs, and valves check. The car was operating fine, but preventive maintenance is important, so I brought the car. At the time I scheduled the appointment, I indicated my intentions as mentioned above. I dropped off the car the evening before and was contacted early the next day through text. It looked promising. The problems began with the follow up text. According to them, the car was in significant disrepair. This is a list of what they sent: front breaks ($299.95 plus tax), air condition filter ($69.95 plus tax), left front axle (794.00 plus tax), 4 wheel alignment ($149.99 plus tax), break fluid replacement ($149.95 plus tax), radiator service ($169.95 plus tax), complete fuel injections ($249.95 plus tax), ac service ($169.95 plus tax), and serpentine belt ($247.50 plus tax). The next day the guy who handled my car suggested I look into replacing the tires. I had them replaced less than two months ago. No, thank you!!! These folks must work on commission. I had the flush and plugs done and left. The next day I went to Firestone Compete Auto Care to get the belt and oil change done. I asked them about the other stuff. They found no issues. Update: 7/29/17 - Updated from 1 star to 3, with the possibility to improve based on future visits. I was dead set on not returning, but after speaking with Roy, I will. After my initial review, Roy posted a message requesting I contact him to express my concerns. I did. He apologized for the experience and asked for the technician who served me. That was Hannibal Hernandez, and I'm glad to report he no longer works there. I don't know and did not ask for the details of his absence, he may have been fired or maybe he found greener pastures. I'm optimistic by nature, so I'll assume he was fired based on his shady practices. Now that Hannibal is gone, I'll return for one more service. I'm hoping for a better experience. read more

Preface: this was my first experience at a dealership and buying a car. Story: The car I wanted was not present on the lot so Julian (sales rep) and the general manager (John) stated they could do a trade with another Mazda dealership. I had wanted a black CX5 with the premium features. After waiting around, Julian winked and said, "We secured the car." I assumed that meant a car with the premium feature within the price range we discussed. I go in the next day to sign papers and confirmed with the financial guy as well the type of car I was signing for which I asked, "This is the CX5 with the premium feature?" and he stated "Yes." I go out to my car and find out it wasn't the premium feature. I thought it was too late to turn back from it, I did love the car. Julian said the ventilated seats were installable for around $300. When I go back to the store after some thinking because yeah, it is my money and I was not promised what was verbally stated. Julian should have stated we secured the car, but it's not the premium. I went back to discuss with the general manager and he just laughed in my face and said it was not installable. I looked at Julian and he said "I never said that". Where would I even come up with that!? Me, someone who has no idea about cars and a first-time buyer. I was baffled that he straight up lied to my face. He apologized afterward to me and said, "Oh, I thought you meant the whole premium features and it is installable". When I SPECIFICALLY asked if I could at least have the ventilated seats so I didn't take his or John's bull shit. All I got was a cargo cover to walk away with because "they felt bad". Dealerships don't care about you after you hand them over the money. I put 15 grand down payment so you could see why I was so upset. Big learning lesson, but they could've done more for me because it was a miscommunication on their end. I felt very taken advantage of as a young, naive girl. read more

Craig in the service department is very friendly and attentive. However, after getting my car serviced here the tire pressure warning light came on & the alarm sounded. I checked my tire pressure, and discovered that they had inflated the tires to the max pressure of 51 PSI as opposed to 36 PSI as recommended by the freaking owner's manual! I'm pretty sure that's not safe. So be on your guard with these folks and do not assume the service department is doing everything by the book. read more

If you hate going to loud restaurants where you can hear everyone talking at the same time, don't come here. I went there to get my car serviced and they had the radio and TV playing at the same time very loudly. It was like listening to two competing attention whores. What made it worse was the piped in music was constantly playing Ads. I mean with Mazda money, you'd think they could afford Ad free radio (Right?!?) My hell at this dealership didn't end there. I thought you know maybe if I said something to the guy assisting me, he could do something about it. But what did he tell me? "Why don't you sit outside and wait?" It was 60 F that morning. And he wanted me to sit in the cold for an hour and a half. Really??? Who does that? So I thought I'd kill the time and walk across the street to the place where I bought my Mazda and retrieve the FOB I hadn't picked up (the Chevy Dealer) and much to my surprise, the Chevy guys were so much more civilized. They were also cleaner and more modern. It made me feel embarrassed for the Mazda service centre. It's supposed to be a Japanese company with Japanese management styles and customer service. WTF is this? Update: It's been 6 months since I've been to this dealership and therefore 6 months since this post has been up. They have not made any attempt to apologize for the shitty service. All I see is them thanking all the yelpers who give them 5 stars. Case and point - shitty customer service. Honestly, the car dealership is not my favorite place to go and I've been to quite a few... But this experience was one of the best for getting my car fixed. Had to get my brakes change (ugh!) but they finished it within 3 hours. And even gave me a ride to a local shop while I waited. Most of the other service employees I spoke with were fine except for one who was a 5 star exception: David G.! If you go there, ask for him. David handled it all, gave me an honest rundown (i'm a girl and yes, we know cars!) with updates, took his time and made the car repair chore so much more enjoyable than usual. I honestly hate bringing my car to the dealership for any kind of service, the labor rates are just so high compared with the neighborhood mechanic, but I do appreciate a once a year inspection by mechanics that are familiar with Mazdas specifically. They go in-depth and find stuff my neighborhood mechanic doesn't have time to look for. They've always done a good job here, which I would expect anywhere, but especially when the price is so high. Today I brought my wife's car in for an upgrade of the infotainment system to include Apple CarPlay. I dealt with Luis who was great and truly went above and beyond my expectations. I bought parts on my own, online, and planned to install them myself to save the labor cost while having them just update the software. There was a miscommunication and the techs installed the whole system. I was pretty upset because I didn't want to spend the money on the labor costs but Luis went to work to remedy the situation and came back with a more generous solution that I had expected. I was truly taken aback. Thank you Luis and I'm sure whichever service manager helped out with this solution. Truly one of the best customer service interactions I've experienced anywhere. read more

I have been getting my car serviced and repaired here for the last year always have a great customer service experience. Recently, I had a few tedious repairs and Star Mazda upped the ante with their service, thanks to Donovan, their STAR customer service associate. I should note that everyone who works at Star is very nice. They facility is lovely. They have a nice showroom where you can sit and connect to free wi-fi, drinks, snacks and a free shuttle service to take you places while your car is repaired. But I highly recommend asking for Donovan when you make a service appointment. Here's what he did for me: My back up camera stopped working. Still under warranty, he ordered a new one and had it replaced. But it didn't work! When that happened, Donovan made sure that a loaner car was available for me the next time I came in, so they could keep my car longer and re-test the second replacement camera and make sure it was working correctly. Then my bluetooth module stopped working as well. Since Mazda doesn't replace them automatically, Donovan simplified the procedure and walked me through the fastest and most efficient way to contact Mazda Corporate (who were also very nice and courteous), and the module arrived at Star before I knew it. Since I was coming back to Star for the third time in two weeks, I asked Donovan if I could have the loaner car again and he made it happen. Also, I asked if they could detail the inside of my car as a courtesy since it was my third time coming back in two weeks. Not only did he wash and detail my car, he went above and beyond to make it look brand new, inside and out. He didn't have to do it, but he went out of his way, and I was so, SO pleased. Here's the kicker: while on my way to my final trip to Star, I got into a little fender bender. Even though they don't have a body shop and body work is not covered under warranty (especially when there's a collision), Donovan had my car fixed and presented to me in tip-top shape, at no charge! Literally, my car came back fixed looking like nothing happened, washed and detailed, with a new bluetooth module, all thanks to Donovan. I thanked him profusely and told him I didn't know how to properly express my gratitude. I told him that it has been a long time since anyone went of out of their way in the name of customer service. His answer was simple--he believes in karma and we get what we give in life. So why not help someone and make their day if you're able? And that is just what he did--he made my day. He was grumpy, rude, and acted put out that I was there. He should NOT be in a job where he works with people. I've actually never had a worse experience. I was in a car accident and totaled my car. SERVICE DEPARTMENT: Ridiculously slow wait times, trying to overcharge me for a bunch of shit my car doesn't need yet, leave the car dirty after service, and the complementary car wash has been broken for the last year. Do you yourself a favor and consult with someone who knows about cars before you listen to the dealership about what your car needs. They want to change my tires after 30,000 miles and the standard is 60 to 70,000. They want to change my brakes on my brakes are perfectly fine. The review I'm giving is for the customer service from Israel, a sales and leasing specialist. He doesn't have a aggressive tone or an arrogant attitude about him like some car sales people I have dealt with in the past. He doesn't promise what he can't guarantee. I appreciate that he took his time showing me all the options I've talked about from leasing, used, new, purchases. Though I wasn't coming in to lease and I've never done it before, Israel was very convincing! The manager, the guy who speaks with you when a deal isn't going as planned, was aggressive with numbers. As he should be! Managers are because they have more the hand to deal when negotiating. When you go to a dealership, you don't just deal with one sales man, you deal with at least 3! All three of them even the finance manager wasn't especially pushy because I was on a time crunch trying to beat traffic with four hours drive ahead of me. I had a pleasant experience with Star thus far and recommend Israel if looking for a new or leasing a new Mazda! Mazda is a great vehicle, I owned the mazda3 which they provided a fair price for, in my opinion. The lot had different vehicles to offer and the interior design of Mazda's are truly under appreciated. I hope before you look into the top selling vehicles, you check out mazda lots in your area because for the price range and the amenities and luxe you will not be disappointed. I've owned a few vehicles myself and vehicles that take up 30-40% of my income isn't smart so do your research before you go! Stick to your plan and budget before you "look" because there is no such thing as looking at Mazda's! Good looking cars with right price. Star Mazda also has nitrogen filling for tires, service and parts. They offer bundles for car maintenance as well, shuttle service and a nice coffee and tea maker. I've been here one other time and didn't have a great experience. But I tried it again and I guess to no surprise, same experience. I left my car at noon on Saturday and never got a call about the status of my vehicle. Now it's Sunday and I guess I won't get a call until Monday, hopefully. This is unacceptable and I will be contacting the general manager. This isn't because of covid because I experienced the exact same thing last year ... way before covid was a around. Last time I called and called and called and no one was able to help me or give me the updates on my car for hours. I even got hung up on by one of the service people. When I reported it to someone at the shop their response was, "oh, that's how he is." Excuse me!?!? That is beyond unacceptable and a disgusting attitude to have in a service industry. Kyle Groom was great to work with. He answered all of our questions, and was a professional throughout the entire process. He is personable, very responsive, and overall great to deal with - I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new car. His approach was not one we were expecting, (i.e. high pressure sales), he respected our decision making process and was helpful when we needed him. I think ALL employees need to be better educated on customer service. Phone calls need to be picked up. They're nice to you when you're paying for something but otherwise, they could give a S. I have a lease on my Mazda now. But this place has changed my mind about considering Mazda for my next car. I hope Mazda Corp sees this and makes some changes to this and ALL dealerships. read more
