Eddie is fantastic - he made the process easy and quick while answering all my questions.

Kyle Groom was excellent -- he was super responsive to my texts and removed all the "fluff" of leasing a car. Some highlights: * when I asked for the numbers, he just..gave them to me * handled all negotiations electronically so we could just drive in, finalize numbers, and sign * never once pressured me to come to the dealership * focused on the sale price, not "what do you want your monthly payment to be?" * offered the lowest price I could find anywhere * was incredibly transparent with pricing This should be the norm everywhere, but unfortunately, it's not. Leasing doesn't have to be as hard as it is -- thank goodness Kyle puts the "ease" back in "lease" (haaa....) read more

I pre-ordered an 2017 MX-5 RF Launch Edition through Mazda corporate and chose Star Mazda as my dealer. I have never had a Mazda so I had no experience with this dealer. Because we will be moving close to Glendale at the end of this year, it made sense to go with them than the closer Browning Mazda Of Alhambra. Because it was a pre-order, there was no negotiation and I paid MSRP, so I can't speak to the haggling process. But I can address the level of service that my salesperson Greg Moss provided. He went over a lot of the features of the car in detail and helped me pair my phone and go through many of the car settings. I was coming from a 5-speed manual, so he also had to teach me how to put a 6-speed manual in reverse! When the financing came back with more than a 2% higher interest rate than we were expecting, my husband started to get agitated (bordering on angry). Greg went back to financing and Steve started calling around different banks to get a lower rate. We ended up getting a rate just 0.1% higher than expected. Normally wouldn't believe their story because I'm always skeptical about what I'm being told at a dealership, but my credit report showed that 3 banks (just like he said) had pulled my credit report. Overall, I felt like I was dealt with respect and honesty. Thank you to Greg and Steve for making my car buying experience a good one. BTW, I really LOVE my car! read more

First of all let me say that the people at Star Mazda(Israel, Jon and Don) were the most pleasant and professional people we had ever dealt with at any dealer. We ended up leasing a 2018 Mazda CX-5 GT for 3 years. After negotiating and talking to 3 different Mazda dealers we decided to come to Star Mazda even though it was out of our way but I'm glad because it paid off. Israel was our salesman and from beginning to end he was pleasant, courteous and a complete delight to work with. Everything was seamless here. We felt they went out of their way to accommodate us and in the end we were very happy with the deal we got. Not that the other Mazda dealers I went to were bad by any means(Culver City, Galpin) but we really liked the staff here at Star Mazda. If you're in the market for a new Mazda then it would be a mistake not to come to Star Mazda. read more

I didn't realize how good John Hine Mazda of San Diego was until coming to Star Mazda (recently moved to LA). I had a 7:30 reservation for an oil change for my 2014 CX-5. I arrived at about 7:33 and couldn't see how to enter the dealership. After circling the block, a front gate had opened, and I was the third car in. I should've known I was in for a questionable experience when the service department could not be open on time for their first appointments. A nice man - Francisco? - greeted me and found my reservation. When presented with the initial estimate of work, I asked if they had a customer loyalty program, which John Hine did. When he didn't understand the question and could only mention they sometimes give coupons, I shouldn't known again I was in for a questionable experience. I noticed he estimated the process would take until 9 a.m., which seemed long for an oil change with no cars in front of me (I assume they can handle more than two cars at once, I was the the 3rd). Francisco assured me it should not take that long and that the car would be done around 8:45. Around 8:50, Francisco came to me to ask if I wanted to replace an engine filter and an A/C filter. I elected for the engine filter. By 9:10, I was antsy. I had to get to west LA by 11:30 and was hoping to take public transportation, and by now I thought I would be back home and walking to the bus. At 9:15, I got Francisco's attention, and he told me they were just wrapping up. I told him that if they had not started washing the car, to not wash it; I needed to leave. As he was showing me the final bill, I asked if it normally takes this long and why it took longer than he said it would. He explained that his time quote was only for the service, that the wash takes an extra few minutes. Of course, this explanation was bullshit, and his body language conveyed to me he had no idea why it took so long. No reasonable explanation was ever given for why the oil change took not only longer than the informal 8:45 estimate I was given but the formal 9:00 a.m. that was provided on the original work estimate. Francisco disappeared and told me the car would be right back; 5 minutes later, he arrived with it. I have no idea what happened - was the car being washed? If so, why was he gone the whole time and not helping someone else? If he was washing the car, was he helping finish the washing? Or did he start washing the car then? Finally, I paid and received my car, at about 9:30 a.m. How is it possible that an oil change takes 2 hours? I also noticed a man with a Miata who arrived at the same time as me was still there when I left. I do not know what his car needed, but I do not think it was major service because he also stayed and looked similarly ready to leave around the time I finally escaped. The redeeming part of the visit is that I took three issues of the Mazda magazine, which I love. And all the staff were polite, the experience was just too slow and poorly communicated. I will be using Valvoline or similar local shops for all future oil changes. read more

Searching for my son's first car in early December 2016 and came upon a 2010 Honda Civic with low miles at Star Mazda. My first call to the dealership was with Kyle Groom. I could tell he was a "no nonsense" kind of salesman on the phone. Very friendly and very helpful in regards to information on the car. Fast forward to late December, I call again to Kyle Groom. He informs me that he can drop the price of the car (since it was the end of the year!) and agrees to let us test drive the car and have the car checked out by a local mechanic. We show up on December 31st, test drive and check up of car is fine. Kyle Groom IS the BEST of the BEST when out there looking for a car. His follow through, his demeanor, and his way with people are TOP NOTCH! We purchased the car and were on our way home when we had an issue with the windshield wiper. Half of the wiper disconnected and flew off while in use on this rainy day. I immediately called Star Mazda and Kyle Groom and they took care of reimbursing us for the cost of a new wiper blade. Now THAT's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE! When I went back to Star Mazda to pick up the reimbursement check, Kyle also found the floor mats for our Civic and gave them to us. He truly did not have to do this. We appreciate Kyle's ABOVE and BEYOND service to us, even AFTER the transaction had been completed a couple of weeks before! If you are looking for a car, START your search with Kyle Groom at Star Mazda. You will NOT be disappointed! Thank you Kyle Groom! Our son is LOVING his car! read more

The 5 stars is only because our salesman, Francisco was really great. We bought a precertified mazda 3 touring. Our salesman, Francisco was genuine, honest, and full of energy and smiles. He was patient and did not mind all the test driving we did, multiple times on multiple trips. Hes also very knowledgeable in all the techs for all the different cars. If you are looking to shop for mazdas, id definitely contact him and try to get him as your salesman. read more

Buying a car is always daunting, it doesn't matter how much research you do and how many people you speak to but when it comes down to the moment of truth, Star Mazda is the best dealership. Anyways I did all my due diligence and did all the research and decided Mazda 3 is the car and Star Mazda has the best deal and was able to get the Mazda 3 in the trim and color I wanted. The Salesperson, Abiel Herrera did an incredible job and went above and beyond in terms of service and the Finance Manager, Steven Schwartz was excellent. I do not have the best credit score but it's amazing what he did for me and I also got the maintenance agreement so now I'm set for the next 3 years and know exact what to budget. No surprise expenses when I bought my car at Star Mazda and for the next 3 years. read more

Star Mazda - Best car from the best dealership, ask for Abiel Herrera or Steven Schwartz, Finance Manager - Car Dealers Near Me - Glendale, California

Francisco was our first point of contact at the dealership. He's knowledgeable, helpful and transparent about the process of purchasing a car. He was patient with us, particularly with my overly inquisitive and equally knowledgeable boyfriend. Full disclosure: I don't think we were easy customers. Ryan came in, a total straight shooter. He made it apparent that his job is to sell the car, but also please the customer. He was tough, but fair. Overall, we had a great experience with this dealership. These guys are kind, accommodating and not about the b*llshit you find with other dealers. We would totally recommend Star Mazda to our friends and family. read more

I worked with Raymond at Star Mazda in Glendale, CA. He was the third Mazda dealership I called - but the only associate to actually have a conversation with me, looked up all the cars in the inventory that matched what I was looking for. Did not try to lure me in under false pretenses. He understood I knew what I wanted, the price I wanted and if he had it - done deal. When I showed up, he had the car ready to go. Didn't BS me and try to upsell me - he did give me options to upgrade but I had explained to him my car was stolen and I'm not really in the market but am essentially forced to buy something. We were in and out within a few hours, with the car. He even got us snacks and kept my boyfriend entertained while I was doing paperwork. Also, he was hilarious and knowledgeable and kind. He understood us, joked with us, it was honestly the most pleasant experience. Especially because buying a new car was something I really did not want to have to do. Raymond at star Mazda deserves a raise and he is the only person I will work with and buy cars from. I will follow him wherever he goes and continue to have him find me cars as I need them. I will also be sending friends and family to him. I would also like to mention that Tyson was also incredible. I really appreciated that they listened to me. The biggest thing ? They understood I was buying the car, the woman. Another Mazda dealer treated me like I was an idiot and only spoke to my boyfriend about the car - who had no financial or personal input into my purchase. Thank you Raymond. He's the man read more

After an exhaustive search in San Diego, we saw an SUV with low miles in Glendale. We were very hesitant to drive three hours one way in LA traffic however after speaking with Sales Professional Israel, we felt we could trust this dealership. I'm happy to say Star Mazda delivered as promised! Thank you Israel for being HONEST, professional, and an all around great person! Our six hour round trip drive was well worth it. Ryan in Finance was a pleasure to work with as well, just another top professional from Star Mazda. We are extremely happy with the great price, CLEAN, excellent, and like new condition SUV we purchased. Israel also fast-tracked our purchase as I mentioned to him that I didn't want to drive all the way to Glendale and spend hours at the dealership. Israel had everything ready including having the car detailed! Thank you Israel, Ryan, and Star Mazda for the great car buying experience! read more

Thanks to Star Mazda and Francisco for the great service! We ended up not going with the Mazda but can't say enough nice things about working with Francisco and the team at Star Mazda. Would absolutely recommend shopping at Star Mazda. read more

Came to star Mazda to purchase my first car and had the best experience ever. Tim (manager) and Ron (sales) helped me get the car I've been wanting, they took car of me and stayed first class throughout. We came in around closing time one night, we hadn't checked their hours beforehand, just stopped to look at a CX5 for my fiance after a couple other dealerships on Brand. Pablo greeted us with a huge smile and asked what we were looking at. We told him and he showed us their floor model. After giving us the details on the CX5, we asked to test drive it. It was only then that Pablo told us that they had already closed and we couldn't drive but we could stay and keep asking him questions about the car, warranty, etc. We'd been car shopping for a couple weeks and were used to the sales guys trying to sell the car to me, even though it was for my fiance, she'd be paying for it, and she asked all the questions ! So when Pablo greeted us so warmly, when they were pretty much closed, and carried on the conversation with my fiance rather than me, we were impressed. We ended up getting a different car for her, but were so happy with Pablo that we came back for mine. I had been looking at used cars, but Pablo helped get me a great deal on a new one. Super happy with my new car and the lease terms. I would not have even considered a Mazda, if not for Pablo's personality and geniality. read more

I've been with this dealer for over a decade now. They've helped me with my last two cars a few years ago, both Mazda 6s. Man I love my Mazda 6s. Especially the previous one. Should have never let it go :( but I digress. I'm so happy with my current 6 (even though she is getting old), I'm not planning on getting a new one anytime soon. Why bother with a review then you may wonder. Well, everyone is nice to you when they are about to sell you something. It's how they treat you afterwards that counts, to me at least. I've brought my car for a service and was reminded how cool the crew here is. They were very courteous as usual and kept me informed about the status of the car as it progressed through maintenance. While I waited in the comfort of their showroom, Edita, (she sold me my cars), came by for a fun chat and a ride down the memory lane. She answered in detail all my questions about the new models and deals even though she knew very well I had no intention to buy a car. I very much recommend her if you are looking for a new Mazda or need someone to break down your options for you. Anyways, this turned into a longer review than I expected. Hope this is of some help. read more

Bought my new car here ! Very happy with my car and Edita ( my sales lady). She is responsive and efficient. We started with the option of financing, however, it didn't work out due to my visa status. She didn't hesitate to help me to work out a price for paying cash (which a lot other dealerships had - see my review for Culver City Mazda and Browning Mazda if you are making comparisons). She was honest, and fun to work with. The whole dealership worked like a family, which is nice to be around. They also have a large inventory that gives you the freedom to choose the car that suits your needs. After shopping around, and dealing with other dealerships, I have to say that I am happy so far with my experience. Good luck to you all who are looking for a new car, make sure to go with people that makes your buying experience pleasant since car shopping can be stressful already. read more

I may have to contact the headquarters of Yelp to request that Yelpers be allowed to give 0 stars to businesses. Reason being, my experience at Star Mazda definitely warrants 0 stars. Usually, I try to give a business the benefit of the doubt, when I experience less-than-perfect service but, in this case, Star Mazda deserves no stars and someone should have them take the "Star" out of their name. Unfortunately, a hose went bad in my car and needed immediate replacement. My regular mechanic couldn't get the hose from his distributor until the following Monday, and it was Saturday, so I called Star Mazda to ask if they had a hose I could purchase. Much to my surprise, they had the hose and informed me they could install it the same day for the same price that my mechanic quoted me, which was approximately $200.00. When I arrived, I dealt with Raul, a Service Advisor, who wasn't as friendly in the beginning and his professionalism continued to dwindle. Raul called some mechanics over to look at the hose on my car and, as I stood in the background, I heard one mechanic, Erick, make jokes about my car, as he didn't know I was standing nearby. These people were randomly calling out alleged problems about my car without doing a proper diagnostic test. Before I knew it, Raul came to inform me that my "gaskets are going to rip" and mentioned other alleged problems, all that would cost over $1,000.00. Immediately, I informed Raul to let down the hood of my car so I could leave. Surprisingly, Raul became upset because I didn't want them to work on my car, so he walked away without putting down my hood. Without losing my composure, as I wanted to do, I stayed calm and asked for the assistance of another mechanic that was standing with Raul and Erick as they misdiagnosed my car problems. Instead of putting my hood down, this particular mechanic stated he'll find Raul to ask why he didn't put my hood down. At this point, I walked inside to ask for the General Manager, David, whom wasn't available, but I was given his business card. After about 20 more minutes, I found someone to put my hood down. Then, Raul requested that I sign a document in order for them to release my car to me. I refused to sign, as they didn't perform any work. Raul was insistent, but I never agreed to his request, but some female employee nicely asked for me to sign, so I signed "unhappy customer" and no one at Star Mazda even noticed. Well, this all happened several weeks ago. I intentionally waited to write this review because David, the General Manager, informed me that he'll have the Service Manager call me regarding this situation. Actually, I should state that I had to continuously call David, as he never responded to my voicemails. David informed me that I left in my message that if I don't hear from him I'll e-mail him, so he stated he was just waiting for my e-mail and that's why he never called me back. Anyway, to date, I haven't received any feedback from Star Mazda. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I've been a fan of Mazda for over 10 years but after this experience, I will probably never buy from Mazda again, as I even contacted their headquarters in Orange County and they didn't follow-up. By the way, my regular mechanic was able to fix my car and, surprisingly, it was much cheaper than the quoted price of $200.00. Star Mazda is the first business that I've ever wanted to give 0 stars to for a Yelp review. I'll never return to this poor example of a business. read more

Whoever writes a positive review about this place must work for them. My wife took my car in to get a 15k mile service as per the manual's service schedule. All it needed was an oil change and oil filter change and the customary fluid inspections. She was told that she needed a cleaning to the throttle body, which is not something that needs to be done to an almost new car. Unfortunately, she was taken advantage of and we ended up paying $293 for a 15k mile service. To add to that, she asked about a noise in the brakes when the car is in reverse. They claimed to have fixed it, but it's still broken! Don't take your car here. Very untrustworthy. This coming from a guy who hardly complains! read more

Earlier in April 2012, two petite Asian women walked into this dealer looking for a good deal on a Mazda 2. They were polite and sat around waiting while one of the salesman went to check his inventory for the car they wanted. A different salesman asked if they wanted help...they explained someone else was looking into their request. It turns out that Salesman #1 forgot about them in his rush. Alright, issue cleared and they both helped themselves to a cup of tea while they waited 20 minutes. They then were assigned to a different salesman who was very friendly and made a lot of kooky jokes to keep the mood jovial. This all went downhill when he presented one of the women, me, the older sister a "good deal" for a car at the MRSP price. Obviously that wasn't good enough so I told him so. He then proceeded to show me prices on KBB to argue that his price was fair. He was defeated by the internet. I suggested the ridiculous price of $13,000 as a starting point...and I'll have to say...the guy went BONKERS on us. First he brought another salesman to laugh at our offer to show us it was ridiculous, then he proceeded to argue how he wouldn't make a profit if he gave us the car at lower than the MRSP price and how Madzas had no profit of margin. i even showed him a better deal I got from a different Madza dealer and he started to degrade the other dealer and continue to harass us into buying a car because it was the fairest price by talking in a loud voice. I turned to my sister and said let's leave. That poor innocent soul she was, she lingered while he still had the gall to offer her his business card and asked her to call. I don't know what others think, but that guy seriously needs to work on his sales tactics. We ended up feeling very much harassed. My sister was traumatized and continues to be... in fact, she disavowed from haggling and left me to car shop on my own... Hopefully others will have a better experience we had! read more

I had a miserable and heartbreaking time shopping at Star Mazda, where I was lied to constantly. I found a great Mazda3 at Star Mazda, for a price that would have been negotiable to my price point, only to have to WALK before signing the final documents and handing over the CASH. I had "green" CASH in hand, and walked, because I couldn't get a straight and reliable answer from my dealer. He laughed at me when I asked why all of the 150 Point Vehicle Inspection points weren't checked! He said I would drive it and find out! This was not funny to me, as I had a RIGHT to know what I was buying, and the truth was, he didn't know why the points weren't checked...and went back and forth at least 2 times to the "inspector" to get more points checked. I was so confused and disheartened when he came back again and again without them checked and without a clear explanation why they weren't checked, that I walked. I didn't trust him or the dealership. This was especially heartbreaking because when I had spent the day with him, the day before my attempted purchase, I loved him and wanted to give him the deal because 1. I found the car I wanted at a price I could afford and 2. he was kind and I sensed he was being honest with me. All that changed the next day...when he began lying to me via text about credit checks being needed if you pay in CASH. Once confronted, he changed his story and told me he didn't know I meant CASH. ???? (I had done my homework and knew credit checks are not needed on "green" CASH payments.) Each time I called him out on a "fact" I knew was not true, he struggled to respond. It gets worse....I had looked up the dealership online and saw that they had many negative reviews and people also felt scammed and cheated. When I informed my dealer that I was aware of their reputation, he began to reveal further details of their shady history, assuming I knew....CONFIRMING what I had sensed. Apparently, Star Mazda has a history of dealer/s stealing people's identities! Whether or not this is a continued practice of the present dealers I do not know, however the dealership does NOTHING to ensure that they are clean and legitimate. Even worse than my dealer, was the director of Star Mazda, or whomever the "director" was who tried to negotiate a buy/sell deal with me! He is a total A$$HOLE. He's condescending and a CHEAT. Offered me a "deal" to buy my used Volvo and sell me a used Mazda3 which would require me to pay MORE money than the asking price of the MAZDA! What??!? LOL. What a joke. And a a$$hole. How is that a deal or possible?!? Shouldn't selling my car to you help REDUCE my cost of the new vehicle? Creepy. This creepy behavior lost them thousands of dollars. I wish my experience had been different. It was a terrible, terrible experience. Luckily, I found Galpin Mazda to be more reputable and straightforward. I bought a lovely Mazda3 from them that I absolutely love and had a pleasant experience. NOT only would I NEVER go back to Star Mazda, I would recommend to all Angelenos to NOT GO TO STAR MAZDA unless you know you can see through their bs and ensure that they do not take advantage of you. Good Luck! read more

On 12/29/13, I was in Glendale looking at cars. I had a few models on the list that I wanted to test drive. I drove a Nissan Juke and loved it, but I still wanted to drive the Mazda3, so I headed over to Star Mazda. I remember not feeling terribly comfortable as soon as I arrived and even saying "I don't want to buy a car here..." I should have listened to my intuition. We were already there, so we took a 2014 Mazda3 out for a test drive. I really enjoyed the car. Nice road feel, great features, in my price range. We got back to the lot, and talked about new 2013s that they still had on the lot. The sales guy kept talking about the rebate that was available, and how they'd only sold 1 car all day, and that he'd really like to sell me the car. The only one they had in stock in a color that I wanted had 111 miles on it. When I said "so, at 2 miles per test drive, that means 50 people have driven this car? Not exactly new...", the sales rep replied with "well, we usually take people on longer test drives, like 5 miles". Uh, ok...you're not making it better. So we went inside and ran the numbers. I was putting down a huge inital payment on a past model year, with over 100 miles on it. It was the end of the year, at the end of the day with only 1 other sale, so I thought I might have some negotiating power. We got to what I thought was a fair price, they sent the car off to be washed and gassed up and I started signing paperwork. We got outside and there was the car, cute and ready to go. It was already dark out, so I pulled up under the lights in the lot to look at it before I drove away. I noticed a few scuffs in the plastic around the window, and some marks on the leather in the backseat. Doesn't really feel like a new car...the sales guy goes in to get the sales manager. They somehow convince me to drive the car home, and they'll call me on Tuesday to set up some time for me to bring the car back to be fully detailed, likely that Friday. It was late, and I was starving, and not thinking straight, so I agreed. (**Editor's note: At this point, the correct action would have been to ask that I leave the car until they could clean it up, and come back to get it on Tuesday, or whenever. I told them I didn't live anywhere near Glendale, and I wasn't happy about having to come back.) So, I drive home, and start playing with the controls and radio and stuff. In addition to the 111 miles on the car, which I kind of understand, there were 5 phones paired to the Bluetooth. FIVE. I get that people want to see how it works when they're test driving the car, but come on. The sales rep should have factory reset the entire system before handing over the keys. At least give me the illusion of a new car. You know that smell of burning plastic from all the lining on the underside of the car melting away in those first 25 miles? Nada. Totally gone already. Again, not really a "new car" experience. I get a call Tuesday morning from Laurie, wanting to check how my experience had been. I call back and leave her a message. A bit later, the sales guy calls. Expecting "Ok, we'll see you Friday", I'm surprised when he says "you can come in next Tuesday". No, I can't, I tell him. I work on Tuesday. What happened to Friday? He says he'll call me right back. A few hours later...he finally calls back and says...wait for it..."Ok, we'll do it your way. You can bring it in on Friday." Excuse me? Are you doing me a favor? I just spent $20-some-odd THOUSAND and it seems like as soon as the paperwork was signed, I lost any importance or value to them as a customer. He asks if I'll be able to wait while they detail it, I say no, I have errands to run, and he says they'll be able to put me in a loaner for the day. I call Laurie back again, as I haven't heard back. She apologizes profusely, says the sales manager will talk to the whole sales team about the way they handle customers, tells me she doesn't want anyone else to go through what I went through...ok..but what about me? She doesn't really have a solution, and seems to think that detailing the car for me is enough. It's not. That's what's expected. So, Friday morning, I drive up to Glendale (I live in mid-city, btw), and meet Mike, the service guy. He's awesome. He looks at the car, tells me what needs to be done and how long it'll take. He apologizes that they might not have the parts in stock (it's not just a detailing anymore) and tells me he'd like to keep the car until Tuesday, so he can make sure it's perfect. Fine - they give me a voucher and off I go to Enterprise. I splurge & upgrade my rental. I expect to have it over the weekend, after all. Then I get a message that my car will be ready at 4:30. That's inconvenient. I'm in Culver City, not Glendale. What can they do for my troubles? I suggest a car cover. "Sorry, we can't do that". Oh, really? Sorry, I can't ever come to your dealership again. And I'm telling everyone why. read more

I took my 6 month old Mazda in for its first service. This should have been the basic oil change. They tried to tell me that my 6 month old car needed new breaks. I asked, "How can I need breaks on a new car?" The service manager replies, "it must be the way you drive." Needless to say I did not have the breaks replaced and took my car to another Mazda dealer who confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my breaks. read more

I was hugely disappointed that I was unable to get the car I wanted in Glendale where I live. Fortunately, Sierra Mazda of Monrovia got me the car I wanted and fast. At the Glendale location I was laughed at, lied to three times and ignored. They also had no room to negotiate. I visited three times and purchased no car after I clearly told them I only wanted to buy a Mazda. 1. They told me that only the Sport model comes with red stitching on the seats. Lie. It is on all Gran Touring Models. 2. This was my first new car purchase. I asked a naive question and was replied to with a chuckle and called "cute." 3. They told me the Mazda sale in Monrovia was only for the basic models. Lie. It was on all models. 4. They didn't ask me to test drive the car the first time I came by. Even though I told them I needed a car by the following Monday since I sold my current car. 5. They told me that if I wanted the blue colored car I'd have to wait 3-6 months. Lie. Monrovia could get it in a week. Finally when I got a call back from Glendale I was already cruising in my brand new Mazda i Grand Touring!!! It took one visit and I got it 2k cheaper! read more

These people were always very courteous to me -- that's the one star. I thought that this dealership was a little bit about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing - between the checkout/scheduling desk and the mechanical departments. But NO! That wasn't the problem. After taking our Mazda 3 hatchback in to them FOUR TIMES over the course of THREE YEARS, and reporting each time that we were having a sensor light pop up the moment we drove out of the place and hit the tiniest bump, (we always just gave up and drove it with the light still lit, too tired to take it back and get a rental and the whole biz) I have now discovered: We were MISSING A SENSOR. Now I ask you: How does a mechanic miss something like THAT? My husband finally got the problem fixed when we took it to our Korean guy on the corner, who costs us way less. He took one look at it and said, Oh, I think I've found your problem: NO SENSOR on your rear right wheel. My only thought is, people must be getting ripped off by this joint. Either this is just plain laziness on their part, or someone is seriously untrained. At least somewhat fortunately for us, the times we had this problem checked out, it was always under warranty. But let's discuss the time and ridiculous effort spent: This place is all the way in Glendale (there is no longer a Mazda dealership in Los Angeles proper or Santa Monica any longer). I am in Mid-Wilshire. That means either me or my husband had to waste 1 plus hours or more driving there , explaining the problem, getting a rental with the car place down the street, enduring a cigarette-stinking Ford or some other piece of junk, figuring out its peculiarities, driving back for 1 plus hours, and then repeating the process to pick up our car a day later. A waste of money, time, and apparently no effort on their part. At this point I am pretty sure we'll not return. read more

First time in. Needed inspection of my driver side window. Diagnostic price was really high! An hour later, I finally received an update to the window ($1000+) However, Star Mazda service proceeds to then show me a 5 page print out of $2,500 worth of additional repairs!! I've been to many dealerships nationwide and have never received something like this. My car was just at Mazda the previous month for an oil change, tires, filters, etc in Dallas, TX before driving out to LA. And none of these items were mentioned! Its shady, like they were trying to find things wrong with my car. A women in the waiting room ended up buying a new car because of all the additional cost "repairs" she apparently needed. Scarying people into spending a ton of unnecessary money is WRONG! I got a 2nd opinion on the window at another local Mazda in Culver City that same day. Cost of the parts & labor given in the 2nd estimate was half the cost of what Star Mazda was going to charge me! Wow! Never going back there! read more

God, has this place gone downhill. 2 weeks ago, my brakes went out while I was on the freeway in Glendale. I was able to safely pull into a parking lot and call AAA to come give me a tow. Not knowing where else to call, I called Star Mazda and asked if they could look at my car that afternoon. The person who answered the phone said, "of course, we're not busy at all!" 20 minutes later when I arrived, I was greeted by Willy who said they were very busy and wouldn't have time to look at it until the next day. Annoying, but understandable. The next day, I get a call that the estimate for the repairs was going to be $1500. This included 4 new brakes, a transmission service, new brake fluids, and a cabin air filter. It was a lot, but I wanted my car to be driveable, and I didn't feel it would really help me that much to have it towed somewhere else for another estimate. Boy, was I wrong. We'll fast forward a week later: my alignment was bad and I didn't get it taken care of right away. By the time I did, there was a hole in one of my tires. Luckily it was under warranty at Firestone. 2 days after that: my "new brakes" began squealing loudly. I was getting a lot of stares on the street, on the freeway, wherever I happened to use my brakes. And I was scared shitless after I had just experienced total brake failure 2 weeks ago. At the moment the brakes began squealing, a check engine light came on as well. I had it towed back to Star Mazda after I spoke to Willy again who promised to "make it right." I had it towed over, and a very unfriendly Raul called me asking why the car was there. I told him I scheduled to bring it in that morning with Willy because I had just gotten work done and it was running poorly. Raul called back later and left a message that it would cost me $97 for him to even begin looking at it. I called back twice to tell him that I would NOT like to give him another $97 and that they better make good on their promise to "make it right." I didn't get anything but voicemail. Hours after that, he left me a message that the car was ready. A valve was left unscrewed in the engine and it was leaking emissions. And the rotors, or something, were bad, but since they just installed them 2 weeks ago, they were under warranty. I figured that he got the message from Willy that they were supposed to "make it right" and just fixed the car on their own without speaking with me. Today, I went to pick it up and was given a bill for $97 -- that was $97 for them to screw something that they left unscrewed 2 weeks ago. You can bet I raised hell. Raul tried to give me some crap about that was the cost of their inspection service to determine why the light was on. Then he tried to tell me that I signed for it while he leafed through a stack of papers looking for my signature. I reminded him that I didn't sign anything cause I had the car towed there, and when I called to tell him I wasn't paying anything more to them, he NEVER CALLED BACK and did the service anyway. After making me wait for 15 minutes, he decided that I didn't have to pay the bill. After 10 more minutes, he gave me my car back. The worst part is that the car is STILL making strange noises. I don't feel safe to drive it at all. Avoid these crooks at all cost. read more

I came to Star Mazda after having an off-putting experience at Galpin (where my family has been leasing/purchasing for years). The difference in service was unbelievable. The guys here are kind and patient and know how to do good business. Salesman Eddie helped us crunch numbers until we landed at a great deal that made us all happy. The GM Jon was so lovely and made it all come true. Now I'm directing all of our family and friends to Star instead of Galpin. Thanks so much guys! I love my CX-30! read more

I agree with the other reviews, the sales people are unhelpful and lazy. We went by 30 mins before closing. The place was already half locked up with the sales people gathered around chatting. They seemed to reluctantly allow us to quickly look at a vehicle in the showroom. Went back next day for a test drive. No sales people at 11am on a weekday. The guy I spoke to (may be sales manager) reluctantly took me for the drive after he could not find anyone and after a 5 minute wait. Barely spoke the whole time and didn't seem interested. Took me on a route which was about 2 blocks and then told me to u-turn and head back. Not really an effective drive. read more

So after doing extensive research - online, talking to different people at the dealerships and getting many, many quotes through various outlets (direct, Truecar, AAA, Costco etc)... Star was the best offer with a straight forward salesguy to deal with - and this despite seeing some rather bad reviews on yelp. I harassed Greg within an inch of his life for about two weeks via email (hint I never gave out my phone number to anyone less I be harassed myself. I'm really sorry for the person who's number is like mine...) I wanted to be sure I knew all costs and have all my i's dotted and t's crossed. I used all my knowledge gained in my research to ask questions and to request specific information. Greg kept telling me the information but I was skeptical. I asked it different ways, I made statements, I asked for confirmations... Generally I was a huge pain in the arse. But, Greg proved himself to be honest, extremely patient and told me straight up. I arrived at 2:30pm and we discussed what we had previously discussed (no surprises there) and they found the location of the car in the color I wanted... No hassle, no stress. I knew I could walk out going in but there was no need. I had to remind myself I was at a dealership!! Anyhow, while they were getting the car from another dealer (who in my research I found to be most deceitful sales woman so there was NO WAY I would have gone there to get the car I wanted) we went for another test drive, then spent the obligatory time waiting for the car to arrive. Despite how easy the buying process is, it tends to take way more time than necessary to get out the door, like it needs to take the time to prove the cost of what you are driving away in is worth the money. Total time there was about five hours. Finance was a breeze with Mike and didn't take long at all. He didn't harass for extras and explained everything. Finance was so relaxed, he forgot to actually take my down payment!!!!! He threw in the obligatory "we aren't making any money on this deal" line and I countered with reminding him they wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't worth it to them. He agreed and told me why they were doing it. Made sense. I think my friend harassed Greg and Mike more than was needed but it meant I got to play good cop after being so annoying! So glad I was not alone but I think I could have handled it. I also mentioned to Mike I was selling my Honda Civic myself. He asked for the asking price and I said KBB price. He suggested I increase it. One of the other salesguys printed out the carfax report, got more info on the car and he agreed I should advertise it a higher price. So nice and they didn't need to do it and, after taking their advice, I did raise the price and it sold straight away! I was able to buy a new car one day and sell my old one the next which was the cherry on top of a good experience. The new car also had a small nick on the gas cover which they will repair. Greg helped me pair my iphone before I left which was nice though I was too scared to do anything besides grip the steering wheel and try to make it home unscathed! I think you judge a car buying experience on how much you get, or think you get screwed. I felt happy with the deal I made with 0% APR and cash back. I was aware of what was considered a good price. Pity about taxes though lol! Bottom line: I got the car I have been wanting for years - I of course never let this on to anyone at the dealership as I was very take it or leave it - in a trim I didn't think I could afford with so many standard features I am in heaven!! When I go in for servicing I will update my review. read more

If there was any way to give them negative stars I would. I don't even know why this place is called "STAR MAZDA" because obviously they don't even deserve any stars on yelp. THIS PLACE IS A BUNCH OF SHADY GOONS TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF! Salesman called me with a price, I got there to sign it and get the deal through, suddenly some random "manager" guy shows up and says the deal is off and it is back up to the regular price which was more than 1000 dollars. He starts getting emotional and raises his voice, gets really insecure and tries to explain himself by saying he never signed his name on the price even though he wrote it down in writing about 10 minutes before hand. I've never had any worse experience than this. Never go to this place if you are trying to find a decent business. read more

We just bought our Mazda cx-9 from Orlando last week and he is amazing! We spent weeks trying to find the right car for us and dealt with so many crumby cars salesman that I was hesitant to even walk onto one more car lot! However, Orlando was a shining star in the world of car dealerships! We were so pleased with him we've been raving about him since! He's sincere, helpful and an all around good guy. Can not speak highly enough of him! So glad we ran into this gem of a man!! Thank you a million times! read more
