This trip was for a check engine code P130C on my 2019 GT which can be caused by any number of things. As always the service department gave great service. This time I worked with Armando who kept me updated and was able to get back to me same day. The issue was the fuel and I didn't need to use Star as I took the issue up with the gas station where I last filled up but Armando did not charge me the diagnostic fee and that was very generous of him! read more

DISHONEST finance department - BEWARE! I formally requested a refund for my extended warranty 2 weeks after my car purchase. For the next 3 months, I was repeatedly assured by Magdi in the finance department that the refund had been submitted. After months of waiting and unreturned follow-up calls, I contacted the warranty provider directly and discovered the refund had never been submitted at all. We came in to look for a second car for the family. Asked the sales rep to run the numbers on two models -- he left to "check" and never came back. After a while, it was clear he was just gone. We spoke to another rep and asked if the trim we were interested in was available. He said yes. We asked to see it, and he said, "Why bother? Just look at this one in the showroom." The one on display was a fully loaded version, but we were asking about a lower trim. The trims are very different -- most likely the interior and features too. He told us, "I'll just explain what that one doesn't have. No need to see it." The whole experience felt like they didn't care about helping customers. If you're looking for a Mazda -- go to another dealer. P.S. Their service department is excellent. We recently had a CX-90 in for a recall -- everything was smooth, with live cameras, updates, and follow-up calls. Service is solid. Sales -- not at all. read more

After they serviced my car -- washed it and changed the oil -- the instrument cluster started showing multiple warning lights. I went back to them, and they offered to keep the car until the following week and give me a loaner, since the headlight was already scheduled to be replaced under warranty. In the end, my car stayed with them for a month. When I came back to pick it up, they refused to replace the headlight under warranty and claimed there was also a problem with the car's wiring, which supposedly caused part of the electronics to stop working and needed replacement. Before their intervention, everything was working perfectly except for the headlight. They refuse to admit any fault, and now they're billing me $7,000 and saying the warranty won't cover it. read more

After months of dread considering how to go about this issue, I took my Mazda to the New Century dealership in Alhambra and they said my only concern is, indeed the key fob needed replacing and there was an aftermarket alarm system that needed to be removed for that to work properly. Not Star Mazda trying to rip customers off during the holidays. I took my car in because I needed a battery replacement. I just had my car jump started and was frazzled. When I took it in, I was greeted and they took my car in immediately without an appointment. The technician said that a new battery would be $250. I agreed for them to fix it. I found a coupon on their website to take $20 off on a new battery. When they were done with the repair I presented the coupon. The technician said he would honor it and that it wasn't a problem. When I ran my card they charged $255. When looking at the detailed receipt, no discount was applied. I caught this on the drive home. I tried calling back to the dealership immediately. The first person on the phone had no "record" of my service, then said someone from the service department would call me back. They never did. I called again the next day and they took down my information and said they did not know when they would call me back. While I appreciate them taking me in, them not honoring the coupon after clearly stating that they did lt feels slimy. I hope they rectify it. In the mean time.. I can say they got stars for customer service ... and no stars for cheating me. read more

Since we bought our car here a few years ago, we've been taking it here to get serviced for regular maintenance (oil changes). I came in Friday for an appointment and was impressed by Armond -- super professional and good vibes. Appreciate the multi-point inspection they do as part of the service and discovered that our windshield wipers were bad and needed replaced. He didn't pressure it to be done asap but I decided to take care of it bc I noticed a few months ago that the wipers were essentially hovering during a heavy rainstorm but clearly forgot about it until this inspection! This dealership went above and beyond in every way, I would've never anticipated such amazing customer service from a dealership! Especially from Raymond in sales and Alfredo in their service department! I bought a 2024 cx30 carbon edition from Star Mazda. Earlier that day, I had also stopped at Diamond Mazda in Lancaster and New Century Mazda in Alhambra. Both of the other dealerships slapped on "mandatory dealer add-ons" that they do not disclose in the online price, and they did not disclose them even when I called in advance and specifically asked what add ons were included prior to showing up. Diamond Mazda even tried to tell me that every Mazda dealership would have the same add ons and that the car couldn't be discounted because of tariffs (we are talking about a 2024 that had already been on the lot a full year, i.e. no tariff charge). I was so frustrated to get the same dismissive treatment at both places. Neither dealership seemed that interested in customer satisfaction. When I saw that Star Mazda had a used 2024 cx30 on their lot, I called and Raymond was very transparent in immediately telling me the price with add ons, which were much cheaper than the other two places. When I got there, the energy at Star Mazda was so much friendlier and more welcoming compared to the other two places I visited. Raymond is very funny and made the process so much more enjoyable. Everyone I spoke to at that dealership throughout the process, from the finance manager to the service department was so patient, polite and accommodating. When my dad joked about deserving a shirt from their gift shop, Raymond gave him one of his own Mazda polos! But the best part is.. The next morning after taking the car home, after the frost had cleared from the windshield, I noticed a chip on the passenger side and I was devastated. When Raymond reached out to me to ask about my satisfaction with the car, I let him know about the chip. He spoke with management and they offered to replace the windshield for me for free! I was shocked! Alfredo in their service department reached out to me multiple times to let me know the timeline and process for getting it replaced and said they would even offer me a loaner vehicle if they were not able to replace the windshield timely. Only reason this experience was 4 stars instead of 3 is because of Israel. Hands down the best employee there. I called the dealership last week to try to bring in my car for service. After being juggled between four different people, one of whom hung up on me, I finally got someone on the line who told me they have no loaners and they have to call me back within 48 hours once they get the schedule, because he didn't have the schedule. That was a week ago, and I received no calls from the dealership. I called them back today, and I could talk to nobody except the scheduling department who gave me the same response: I have to leave my phone number and someone would give me a call back. These people have wildly unethical business practices. I brought my car in for a recall and had a speaker replaced. They did a 21 point inspection and gave an almost $7k estimate repairs. When i left i realized they had installed the new speaker incorrectly. I took it back for the recall repair two weeks later and the same exact vehicle past all parts of the 21 point inspection and then they tried to tell me the right speakers (which were wired incorrectly on install replacement) are broken and are trying to charge me $700. We asked for a loaner that works with our trailer since we are leaving for a long trip. This place used three whole weeks to prepare a loaner that DOESNT WORK at all for our trailer or any of our needs that we've clarified with them for a thousand time. loaner vehicle got the wrong tire sizes, wrong tow packages and without the adapter. We bought our car here and they kept saying that everything will be ready and exactly the same as our own vehicle, yet we came three times for a loaner but got the completely wrong one. AVOID WORKING WITH REPAIR ADVISOR NATHON. He's full of untrue promises and wrong information about the repair. We don't mind any shop to take their times to finish the job but they keep telling us vague information which got our hopes up and then endless delays. I recently went in to buy a Miata, after discussing the details of the deal we came to an agreement, Raymond the salesman lied to me about filling out a credit application and tried to run my credit without me knowing. I said multiple times that I did not want it to be run, because I was pre approved and he was filling out the credit application behind the screen, and when I asked to see the screen he tried to hide what he was filling out. I spoke to the manager and he was ok with Raymond running my credit without my permission, and said, "That's how they needed to do business."
