Wow. I just needed college ruled paper. After searching for 5 minutes, we asked a cashier And with an annoyed look on her face she said check aisle 2. Couldn't find it. Another worker said check Aisle 3. Nothing. We got in line which we waited for 10 minutes with only one register open and asked the cashier to please go find us some college ruled paper. She called someone else to find it. After another person walked( as slowly as possible) to bring it to the front she just slapped it on the counter and walked off. I'm speechless at the rude customer service and how difficult it was to get some paper. Avoid this location until they hire happier people. read more

I only went here because I had $30 in staples rewards from a prior purchase (I bought printer ink there a few months back and they had a promotion that I got $30 off - well, the catch is the $30 off comes as a 'reward' against a future purchase, not $30 off that purchase). I needed a USB stick and some headphones, the sales guy was very helpful and friendly - something you don't expect with all retail chains. I found what I needed and I'm ready to go. You see a bunch of workers in the store, but only one cashier. When it was my turn, I had to wait for them to fetch a manager (called 2x on the intercom) to get my merch from the safe (headphones, people...I'm not buying diamonds here). An important measure of a business's quality is how they handle it when things go wrong. I bought my new home's first printer here, but couldn't set it up completely because it wasn't reading one of the ink cartridges. Assuming it was a defective cartridge, I took it to the store for replacement. Same error, so I figured it must be the printer, and exchanged that too, and it finally worked after that. For both exchanges, I was treated like a reasonable person, not like I'm assumed to be a scammer. I didn't even need a receipt. read more

Not happy with a recent experience. I took a coupon in for 5 free reams of paper after coupon and rebate, and am now finding I ended up paying $4.99 for the 5 reams of paper. Still a good deal, but not the coupon I turned into the store yesterday. They didn't give me a receipt (only via email) so I didn't notice until I got home, then when I called they proceeded to tell me that there is no free coupon after rebate in existence (As if I'm an idiot for not reading it properly). Further, I received a receipt via email for someone else's order in addition to mine. They have some new people who need to be trained better before putting them at the register. read more

Bunch of lamebrains....there was a circular in today's paper that they had the 2016 11x17 desk calendars for $6. However, when I got there no one could find them, nor did the cashier even have a copy of the ad from the paper. They had a similar item for $29.99. When I first went in to the printing Dept. the lady stated she wasn't able to help me with a poster I needed. She was new it seemed.which was odd as they have done it for me in the past. So I left returned later that day with a way I thought I could do the poster myself. I had her print it out and attempted to do it myself and it looked horrible. It was for my best friends wedding shower that weekend. Anyways I went in again for the 3rd and the ladies there (Not the same ones)were AMAZING!!! literally mad up for any strife I had previously. I bought some folders here the other day. I got to the counter and the lady that was ringing me up and before paying told me one of the folders costs over a dollar while the others cost near fifty cents. It was nice of her to let me know. Outstanding Customer Service! Some of the best I've ever received anywhere. Was true for all 3 visits in past couple weeks so not a fluke either. If I could give no stars I would after my experience at the store tonight. Horrible customer service! The item I needed was out of reach and required a ladder. I walked around the neighboring aisles looking for an employee but ended up walking back up to the front of store to have the cashier call someone over to the aisle for me. Although she acknowledged me, nobody showed up. I don't even think she called anyone. After waiting a couple of mins, I went looking for an emp again and found two employees, one on a ladder stocking shelves and the other just standing talking with the other emp. I asked for help and the guy who was just standing there said he would be right over. Finally after a couple more mins longer, the emp who had been up on the ladder started down the aisle I was waiting at and was trying to maneuver the huge rolling ladder when another customer asked him a question and he told me to wait a min and proceeded to help them. After waiting a few more mins, I had waited long enough. As I was half way down the aisle heading for the exit, he went for the ladder again but it was too late.....I waited long enough. We just moved into a new office building and I needed a lot of office supplies but I will take my business elsewhere. read more

No. Just don't. Do yourself a favor and go to Office Depot on Hawthorne Blvd. instead. I placed an online order here and had it shipped to store. I waited 7 days and they never informed me my order was in, even though it arrived 1 day after I ordered it. I called and they said "unless you received an email saying it was delivered, we don't have it." They didn't even check. I called a second time because I tracked the order and it said it had been delivered the day after I ordered it. "Oops! Sorry about that!" they said. I said "Was anyone going to call me?" and she replied, "I think it was lost. Sorry." Needless to say, I won't be shopping here again. read more

Sooooo terrible!!!!! Such terrible service too. There were FOUR PEOPLE WORKING. ONE of them didn't know where ANYTHING was, the manager's excuse was "she just started working." The cashier claimed they had what we needed in stock so we spent half an hour looking where she POINTED US TO. The manager was very very unsatisfactory. This experience was just terrible. What a waste of time this place is... !.. I took my printing needs into the store.. thinking this should be a 'slam-dunk'.. and went directly to the associates working in the print-lab.. this is where the mistake started.. FIrst.. the young gal .. started printing my multiple projects ( from a flash drive ).. and stapled them all together.. Second.. the young gal(s)... said.. all of the different files were all the same on my flash drive.. and couldn't get the machine to work.. Third.. I went back home.. and opened the flash drive files.. they were fine.. Forth.. . I went to Office Depot.. . and had the ninety plus pages printed and sorted and done with the help of the staff.. .in record time.. TADA ! Staples store on PCH in Torrance. I went in to print out two documents from emails at 4:45. Apparently this store had decided to close over four hours early. As I was reading directions etc., as I don't do this often, a rep came up and told me I needed to leave as they were closing early. I said I was almost done and continued. Then a beefy guy came towards me and said" if you don't leave I'm going to have to escort you out", which sounded like a threat. No I'm sorry, etc., in other words, absolutely no respect .Just get out. It went downhill from there. No explanation, just get out. I never write to corporation headquarters but I did this time. I got a fairly quick response from Toni Rines, Customer Relations Specialist, Office of the President . She apologized and said they would look into it. I followed up a week later after not hearing from her and was told the reason the store closed early was not shared with her. Really. As I said to her, if it was an emergency, I would be more inclined to ignore their employees extremely rude behavior, but apparently that doesn't matter to them. I didn't need details, just some respect. Got zero. Never been threatened for standing in a store before. I will not use their services even though they are convenient and I recommend you do the same. read more

Some of their deals are really good. If you buy your stuff on sale, they usually have really good promotions. I even bought a couple of things, then went on ebay and amazon and surprisingly it was cheaper than online. I placed an online order to pick up at this store; it was supposed to be filled in an hour. I received an email confirming receipt of my order and was advised not to go to the store until I received another email that the order was ready for pick up -- 2 hours later, the 2nd email did not arrive. I called the store. After holding for 8 + minutes, Boz answers the phone, in an unprofessional manner, tells me he's sure my order isn't ready because the store is so busy. He puts me on hold and says, "the order is ready but, it needs to be processed." What does that mean? Give us 15 minutes, he said. So basically, your 1 hour pick up is really 2 hours or more. The manager picks up the phone, does not ID himself as such or offer his name. I told him of my long hold time and the order not being ready -- another bunch of excuses, then an "I'm sorry. Come pick it up we'll have it ready -- 4 hours later we have our 1 hour pick up....seriously? read more

The Manager (Ned) in Torrance California, Hawthorne Blvd is dishonest. They had at least 2 clearance Laptops in the back room which qualified for a Staples discount coupon. On Sunday 9-7-14, staff brought one out then said that it was not a clearance item, that it was a sale item. Later I called the store back and disputed their claim, but they said that it had just been sold. After I insisted and proved my case, they admitted it to be a clearance item. They found another in the back, put my name on it, and said that the manager would sell it to me on Monday. On Monday, they had the item but the manager told me that the coupon was a mistake, for Tablets only, and refused to apply it. On Tuesday I reached Staples Presidents Office Representative (Martha) who said that the coupon was good for PCs and Laptops and was still in effect. She called the manager (Ned) who said that he just sold it. Upon doing a deep online search I discovered that this same manager did the same thing to three different customers, telling each a different made-up reason such as it was only for Desktop PCs or Tablets only etc. The manager lies with impunity and then sells these items to those whom he favors. This is unprofessional, dishonest, and permanently damages Staples reputation. He should not be a retail manager. read more

We came to return an item at the register. Her name was Christen and she was very rude. She asked for id and arrogantly laughed after giving the our phone number. She did raised her voice and started talking to us like an idiot. Ultimately she wanted a drivers license but her method in asking for one was very unprofessional. It made the situation worse and made us flustered. Will not come back here again. Instead we will go to Joanne's or Walmart to get supplies. I have had several bad experiences here. First one was a cashier who was super mistaken about something on sale in their AD. She kept telling me I had to have an account and use some sort of points...but she was wrong. I had to stand there forever while she tried to look-up if I even had an account. This lady was so poorly trained it was painful. Recently I went in and nobody even greeted me. I stood by a cashier, then I stood by the copy and print center...waiting...lots of employees...still waiting...NOTHING. I had to ask which desk I should be at to recycle phones, because one of the employees had no idea. Way to train your staff Staples. Then I stood at the Tech desk while a male employee was talking to another female employee and ignoring me. He saw me several times and then went over to another desk. I turned and asked the cashier "is anybody working this desk here?", she said "yes, he is" and pointed to the male who had been ignoring me. Then another guy walked past me and the 2 started chatting and they proceeded to walk to the back of the store...That's when I walked out. The was once of the rudest experiences I have had when just simply trying to get any kind of help from an employee somewhere. from an educator's standpoint, staples stores get it! they allow up to 30, yes 30(!) of an item on special vs their competitor who only allows 3, yes 3. their prices by far are the best, especially when it comes to school supplies! i was just at this particular store, and as crazy busy as they were, anthony helped me grab 3 more pencil sharpeners from their above storage. andrea has rung me up before, and just like the previous time, she was as friendly and cheerful as ever, even under the busy circumstances. i will definitely stay loyal to staples from now on. read more
