I was trying to get a strip of poster board 1 inch tall and 17 inches wide, laminated, to change the phone number and name on a sign. My plan was to stick the laiminated correction onto the sign. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told to call after 2 pm when Staples supervisor came in to work to get a quote how much this littie strip would cost me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She said the strip cost $2.00 but I had to use THEIR POSTERBOARD, not my finished product, so they know your job will be compatible with the lamination machine. Well supervisor told me the posterboard cost $12.00 so she quoted my little 1 inch strip by 17 inches long, to cost $14 plus tax! I think I got something laminated over 10 years ago, and I brought my own materials in. I called FedEx, which is closer to my house anyways. Their charge is just $4.95 for the 18 inch x 10 inch lamination sheet sleeve. The $4.95 includes the lamination, so I ws out $4.95 plus 28 cents for tax. The employee did it for me, too. This is why you have little to no workers on staff. This creates a common bottleneck that most or all deal w/suffering through. Only way to not is show up early AM when they open. Staples, historically, has been a good store, but I'm so angry about the printer I bought there that I'm boycotting the store and I won't go back unless it's an Amazon return. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In March, I bought an HP printer. The manager's name was Jose. I asked a million questions like I usually do, felt good about the purchase, bought the $50 protection plan and left.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since then I have been unable to use the printer because it won't stay connected to my T-Mobile Internet. What I have been told over and over and over again by HP customer service is that the printer doesn't work with T-Mobile Internet. HP actually had the nerve to suggest that I switch Internet providers so that the printer would work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Had this been explained to me by Jose when I bought the printer, I would've chosen something else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I brought the printer back to Staples to return it initially, they said "I'm sorry, it's been 15 days and our return policy is 14 days..." a 14 day return policy on a $200 printer is insane to me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have spent no less than five hours total on hold with HP. Every time I call, I have to get through their automated system to get to a human who has to help me uninstall my printer on the app and then reinstall it. That all takes about 30 minutes on the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then my printer will hold the connectivity for about 24 hours before it drops again. Last week when I called again, HP told me that I needed to call T-Mobile to get a 2.4 bandwidth set up because it couldn't hold 5G. So, I did that because I need a working printer. T-Mobile sat with me on the phone for 45 minutes this time with some sort of screen assist and set up a 2.4 network. I was assured that the problem was resolved Again, 24 hours and the printer dropped. Then I called Asurian, the protection plan company that I paid 50 bucks to. They said, "I'm sorry ma'am, we can't help you until you ask HP to take the printer back. If they refuse to take the printer back, then they'll send you an email and a confirmation number. When you have that, call us back and then we can help you..." [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I took several very deep breaths and called HP again. Sat on hold with them for 62 minutes before somebody picked up the phone to help. Then, he says with ESL, "ma'am, you'll have to open your laptop so that I can look at the wireless settings otherwise I can't help you."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My kids are with my ex and they have my laptop and so that was 60 minutes on hold for absolutely nothing. I'm so angry and I have no recourse. I will never buy another HP product again and I'm done with Staples. I know I sound like a raving lunatic, but I'm so frustrated! I'm going to try and craigslist the printer at this point. If somebody has spectrum, it should work fine ‍ Oh, and PS, I bought balloons for my son's birthday party through Staples. They put too much of whatever the chemical solution is that they put inside balloons - half of them popped in my car. Also, the chemical stained my leather seats. I have gone to this staples 5 times in a row (all different times a day) just to find an hour wait to do Amazon returns. I had to go to UPS and pay $1 per return just so I could keep my schedule. I went into the store to buy ink for my HP Printer and look for a planner. I asked an associate to help me find the correct ink cartridge. At the registered the associate, as he was ringing me up, he asked me if I have found everything I was looking for. I said actually, no. I explained to him that another associate was looking up online the ink cartridge that I needed for my printer. I was told because my printer was so old that finding the ink cartridge would be difficult. He suggested try to look on eBay as a possibility, or consider buying a new printer. The associate then asked me what ink cartridge I needed and he looked it up and found the correct one and it was in stock at the store. He was extremely helpful and kind. I was actually very glad that he did ask the stereo typical customer service question and I replied honestly. I was able to leave with exactly what I came for. I was definitely a happy customer. It turns out that the associate that was ringing me up, was actually the manager, Darrell. He was extremely helpful and informative. This is definitely the Staples store I will be doing all my shopping at.
