Been living here in Clairemont for 10 yrs now and this UPS is my go to for notary, shipping and returns. Len was very helpful and nice. I cannot forget how he assisted me one time, he went above and beyond. Yesterday, I went just because I had a shipment that I've been waiting and i've been dealing with the vendor for almost 2 mos- the replacement of of the product was shipped via UPS and the vendor messed up my address - this store looked up the shipment for me and confirmed with me that UPS has my updated address and offered that I come back if I did not receive my shipment. Although this shipment really doesn't have anything to do with them since they just a store, they offered their assistance. Sarah answered the phone and I had told her I made a return and I haven't received any confirmation on it when I usually do. She acted like I was stupid and said uhhhhh well idk what to tell you. I was severely bothered by my visit to UPS on a Wednesday afternoon. My prior visits had gone off without a hitch, until I came face to face with a condescending, abrasive and rude attendant. He appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s and had tattoos up and down his arms. For the purposes of this story, let's call him Jack. Jack seemed to have a bone to pick with me the minute i walked up to his station. When asked, I stated my purpose for patronizing this USPS as making a return, and that I was told I could drop off my package without a shipping label. Jack took my statement to mean I was planning to leave and immediately, forcefully began to lecture me that it would be a very bad idea to leave without a receipt. I iterated that it was never my intention to leave and I was simply stating why I was there. Next, Jack placed his hand on the device I was returning, on a day with record heat, narrowing his eyes at me, he pronounced, in a blaming tone, that the device was hot. He said "was this left in your trunk"? I said no. He asked why it was hot. I said "it's a hot day". Next, Jack proceeded to scan the first of my two devices. He had trouble with the second one, and after 3 attempts to scan the barcode, proceeded to jab it with a pen trying to open the plastic coating without permission. I was shocked. "What are you doing?" I asked. Opening it. He answered. I said please stop, don't open that. He said he could not scan it without opening it, repeating that "we've been doing this for 15 years we know what we're doing". I stated that the company said the devices could only be returned if unopened. He stated that it didn't matter if they were open and he had to open it. I asked him to please be careful and only open a small slit above the barcode. He made me nervous with how he was aggressively trying to rip open the package jabbing it with a pen, so I offered to open it myself. He sighed, then, simply holding the plastic taught on one side, he scanned the device without trouble. His attempts to open the package without my permission and the ease with which he scanned it, having previously scanned the first package as well, hinted at an impatient lack of care or consideration. His repeated remarks in apparent annoyance that "we know what we're doing, we've been doing this for years" and failing to respect my - the customer's wishes, was jarring and disrespectful. What is difficult to communicate over this review is the contempt dripping from Jack's voice, the constant lecturing and limited interaction with me-the customer, except for his aggressive belittling speech and ignoring my wishes. Jack's conduct made my visit stressful and unpleasant to say the least. The fact that this establishment would employ someone who so blatantly disregards customers' wishes and concerns and comports himself in a way that is hateful and aggressive is a massive oversight of this company. I wonder if Jack's actions were discriminatory. I was polite throughout my visit, despite how aggressive he was towards me, so I have no explanation for his actions. I hope Jack doesn't treat other customers this way. All in all his behavior is at the detriment of customers and UPS alike. read more

They are helpful, efficient and understand service I bought a large heavy gift for my husband for Xmas. Cleveland help get it out of my car, carried it in and began the return just to realize I had to pay the shipping which was more than I'd originally paid for the item. He then carried it back out to my car. No grumbling or complaining, he did it with a smile The rest of the team will stop what they're doing to assist customers as well. I've seen the same faces in there for years, so they're doing something right to have such low turnover. Needed to do an Amazon return, and this location opens up Brighton early at 8 AM. It is conveniently located and Claremont Mesa in the Claremont shopping center. I wasn't the only one who had the same idea, as there was already people were coming in before me and after me. However this location has a scan your Amazon returns and printer label, which is super convenient for me, Might not be for everybody. But it avoids the waiting and super quick all you need is the QR Code on your phone. Plenty of parking in front of the building located by next to T-Mobile and navy fed.Very convenient would definitely come here again, the employees were super friendly and helpful. The only downfall about the Amazon package is I thought that there was a area but looked more like a garbage, you're supposed to give your package to the attendant. If these are "trained notary's" I don't believe they should have the ability to assist anyone with their notary needs. I worked in one of these places one summer 20 years ago, they nickel and dime EVERYTHING, I 'm surprised they DIDNT charge me for attaching my preprinted label for ab Amazon return. I wish I did not have to go in there, like heading for the electric chair (you know regardless that you're getting sh$t on) so I decided ( everyone typically loves me, I'm easy and chill, so I said going in, think positive, it's not going to be that bad....WRONG...WRONG WRONG WRONG ( hammer bangs down /Monty Python. fans should understand) .I went in smiling, there was NO ONE in the store, walked up to the counter and this beast ( ugly in every way possible) turns around, and gives me the "what the Hell do YOU want ?" look. My demeanor changed into cold mode, I dropped off and " here you go...Amazon return...only needs label taped (i was out of tape at home)". She didn't say a single word, grunted subtly and printed the receipt. Easy peasy!! So why the attitude?! They all have it too. Every time i have to go im there ( everything all ready to even) I get pure anger,you can seriously feel it going in, it's awful. Avoid at all costs!! Please, even if it mesns going down the street ( a ton of these places around Clairemont alone), that's what I normally do, today I didn't and I had it coming. Surprise!! It did! None of the employees want to be there, you can tell from their faces. i feel hatred and sympathy for them, do NOT patronize this place if at all possible!! It's beyond toxic. The owner, Lem, I think his name is, really needs to do something because it's either HIM or them, but as a psychologist going for her Masters, it's both. Went in with an open box return that needed taping up and shipping labels put on which they did for me without having to purchase tape. When we were done I asked if they had any random stickers or labels for my toddler and they offered him Hot Wheels cars. They even let me take a second for my older son. I come to this UPS store fairly regularly as it is close to my house and usually I can send my Amazon returns back here for free. Staff are always, friendly, keep the lines moving to get you in and out quickly. Staff have even been helpful when Amazon did not give me a code to scan but something to print. I just emailed it to them and they printed for me, no extra charge. I don't send many things so I cannot attest to the actual prices or services of sending things but I will continue to use this store for Amazon returns. read more

I own a live plant business and have many clients all over the country that request shipping. I have been very reluctant to ship due to my concern of the plants arriving in good condition. I recently had a client contact me from Tennessee to order several plants from me, he said he would take his chances for them to arrive safely as he wouldn't be traveling to San Diego this year and he has purchased from me previously. Picked up best friend from airport and he needed to overnite a set of keys to his family. The UPS Store located in the Clairemont Town Square was the nearest location to him. I rarely use The UPS store unless I need a quick document notarized or I need to send something (that's already the postage paid). I always thought The UPS Store up-charged too much. The owners of this location are freakin' amazing. It's so rare that I meet a couple that I honestly just want to invite over for dinner and hear their life stories. Len and his wife were so personable and knowledgeable . My friend doesn't know how to save a buck so I asked Len what was the best, cheapest, but most efficient way to send these keys overnite. Len tinkered on the computer and gave friend the best option for his buck. Yeah, it cost $41.34 but they packaged the keys and took care of everything. And come on - the keys have to jump on a plane and head to NYC by 10a EST or something. Putting it *that* way makes the $41 seem reasonable right. A few things: - you cannot use your own UPS account at The UPS Stores - customer packed packages are not covered for damage (I'm reading that on the receipt now) - UPS Ground, estimated not guaranteed I would come back to this location in heart beat b/c I thought Len and his wife were that cool. You don't see a lot of detail to customer service or customer interaction when it comes to mailing stuff ( hello...I'm talking to you USPS, yeah, that's right). So having great service and laughs with the people at this UPS Store location was a breath of fresh air. read more

What a wonderful experience! I was greated by Len the owner, a delightful fellow south African. He was very welcoming and such a funny character. Kari was the amazing team member that helped me with my order. I had to do Amazon returns, what a nightmare, but Kari made the experience pain free. She was so patient helping me search and scan for the correct returns. She assisted me the entire time with a smile, Len cracked some jokes, I felt like hanging out with this wonderful staff all day long. He then helped us to fax again while she was busy helping her third customers. Yes she is indeed a hard worker based on her enthusiasm and speed. Second time in a week I have had a bad experience at a ups store. First time was balboa location where they wanted to charge me $39 to send a box weighing 6 on to Canada. I questioned and he lowered it to $29. I questioned again, saying I had sent a box in January for 50 that weighed over 4 lbs. he checked and affirmed this. I asked why this much smaller,lighter box would cost so much. He shrugged his shoulders and said,"no idea." No further assistance from r research h into the matter. Today went to location on clairemont drive to return. A direct tv receiver as the instructions say to do this. The male said no we can't do it even after showing him the letter from direct tv. We had shown a packing label that I guess is only for pair office. He would give no further info on how to return it there. Just kept repeating it was a label for the post office. Yeah, we got that but what do you need in order to accept the receiver. Got nothing. I will not be returning to UPS after years of using them for packages passport pix and more. read more

The man who used to be in charge apparently has allowed some boys dressed up as men to take over his store. I needed to send some documents and they were absolutely rude. He went out of his way to help re pack my stuff, making it smaller and tighter so that I could save some money. He saw I was overwhelmed by the cost and immediately jumped in to help. This particular UPS Store is really good. Kari is my go-to person and a lot of it has to do with her wonderful attitude. She's on the ball with perfect customer service skills interacting well with everyone who walks in the door and also with her co-workers and bosses (you can observe this if you ever have to stand in line there). Kari has that rare quality - held by few people - which allows her to stay calm, be pleasant, and ever efficient to take care of whatever needs to get done and - I want to add - for more than one customer at a time. It's unbelievable. Nothing throws her off her game. Kari wins the reputation for being the UPS staff member par excellence! All UPS offices need a Kari clone because it is a joy to go there.
